Artifacts RP

Palia strides up to the gates that lead into Abbersworn. She looks up at the sign that labels the town and sighs, "I guess we're finally back... Funny, I thought I'd come back home with my family in tow..." Glacies looks at Palia solemnly, then looks in the gates to find something that could distract Palia. A small smile spreads across her face as she spots the marketplace. "Perhaps we should check out that stall over there. I see some pretty jewelry over there. I know how much you love accessories." Glacies says, noticing Palia's face light up. Palia looks up and into the gates, seeing the stall that Glacies had pointed out. Palia then skips into Abbersworn and spins around to face Glacies, "I guess a little shopping wouldn't hurt anyone, now would it? Let us be off then." At that, they both walk into the marketplace and begin to scan their wares.

Astrid hunched over her desk, her silver hair falling all over her eyes. A man with long blue hair and blue eyes lounged on an armchair behind her, humming softly, one leg kicking over the arm. She feverishly scribbled onto a notebook beside her. Books cluttered the room, some lying open on the floor. The girl, Astrid, started to mutter to her self, her eyes intent on a book in front of her. The blue haired man, Raphael looked up at her and stood.
"Astrid give it a rest..." He said, leaning on her desk. "You've been at this for days..."
She looked up at him with scarlett eyes.
"I have my reasons..." She muttered.
"You're not going to cure your mother by scouring over books you've already read fifty times AT LEAST." He said blandly, holding a book limply in his hand.
"I can at least try!" She raised her voice. "You want me to just give up and let her die!?"
The man was silent.
"Do whatever you wish.." He then returned to the armchair. Astrid put her head in her hands.
There was a knock at the door.
"Ms. Rosalia, you wished to be reminded that it was the end of the workweek." A man, probably a staff member, called through the door.
"Ah, yes, thank you." Astrid called, after she heard his footsteps leave, she sunk into her chair, silent.

Velina sat on a log just outside of the castle gates. The sun warmed her light skin, and a cool breeze ruffled her long silver hair. She wore a bright red furisode with a pink flower pattern and a yellow sash tied around her waist into a bow at her back. She was playing a beautiful tune on her ocarina.
A young man appearing to be about her age sat on the ground with his back against the log. His white, well kept, shoulder length hair also danced in the breeze. He had his hands tucked into the sleeves of the white robe he was wearing. A blue shawl was draped over his shoulders over the robe. He wore brown leather boots on his feet. Around his neck was a medium length golden chain that had a beautiful golden cross hanging of it. In the very middle of the cross was a large light-green gemstone. His eyes were closed as he listened to Velina's song. When she finished, he opened his eyes with a smile and looked up at her.
"Wow, Vel...that was a beautiful song. I don't think I've heard that one."
Velina chuckled, "Thank you, Elwyn. My mother just taught it to me the other day...I finally learned the notes."
"Well, now I understand why you ordered me away..." He said with a grin.
Her face turned red and she looked away, "I...wanted to make sure I had it right before I played it for anyone..."
"It's very pretty." He said again, "Have you played it for Evina?"
Velina shook her head.
"Well, you should. I'm sure she would just love it."
Evina was the queen of the elven kingdom of Ilarranwyn, and Velina's closest friend besides Elwyn. Evina and Velina had grown up together, Velina being Evina's childhood playmate, and now one of her personal bodyguards. Evina had told both Velina and Elwyn that when they were alone, they did not have to be formal and instead could address her simply as "Evina", and so they did. Velina's family had, for many centuries, been loyal servants to the elven throne. They were never treated badly, and Velina never complained about her status. She enjoyed it immensely.
Velina stood up from the log and tucked her ocarina into her pocket, "Well, Evina said she's really busy today. She told me she mustn't be disturbed and ordered me to do whatever I like today." She stretched, "So...what do you say we take a walk around the city?" She lifted a small bag that was tied to her sash at her waist, "Maybe I could even buy something today! I haven't been shopping in forever!"
Elwyn smiled at Velina, "Well then, lead the way
master." He said jokingly.
"Why, thank you, slave!" She joked back, and they busted out in giggles as they walked down the path to the gates of the castle courtyard.

Heidrun stormed into her room, slamming the door behind. Sometimes talking to them is like talking to a brick wall. She quickly glances at the other figure in her room. "Not now Blaise I am not in the mood."
Blaise approaches Heidrun placing his hand on her shoulder. "What did you do this time that has your parents undies in a bunch?"
Heidrun rolls her eyes. "They are trying to play matchmaker yet again." She throws herself on her bed. Eyes scanning the opulently decorated room. The colors are light green and blue reminiscent of a beach. She picked out the colors herself because they calmed her. However this time not even that is working.
She gets off her bed and grabs her oboe. Then she walks over to her balcony, and sits on the wall. Very improper for a young lady of her status, but she doesn't care. She closes her eyes and puts the reed into her mouth. She starts to play. The song doesn't matter, she is putting all her emotions into the melody. Playing this instrument is her release. There is no sheet music, no instructors, just her and her instrument.

Junaluska was in the city of Abbersworn. Her family lived in a big house within the walls of the city, however because they served the King they had a room with in the castle as well. She laid back on the bed. She was in the castle room with Tzefira and Solana. They sat in chairs watching Junaluska on the bed.
Tzefira and Solana had been her faithful friends since she had been given the deep blue wings when she was younger. They had protected her through so much and saved her life at least twice that she could remember.
"I wonder what the king has in store for us next" Junaluska said.
"He will probably send you out to check out a few of the villages to make sure that there is no uprisings against the throne." said Solana.
Tzefira rolled her eyes. "Nah I bet you get sent out to one of the other kingdoms to form new alliances with them."
"Hmm... Both of you could be right. We will just have to wait and see. Though before we go I think I need to stop by the house and talk to my parents to let them know this time. That message I sent last time I thought my mom was going to kill me when I got home since I didn't tell her personally." Junaluska said laughing. "She cracked when I walked in and said I was back."
"I wouldn't do it again." said Solana
"ahh Go ahead and do it." said Tzefira. "It would make your trip worth while and let her worry some. It doesn't hurt to worry you know." she said.
"Nah I think I'll drop by and tell them." she said.

Johnny lived on the outskirts of Abbersworn. He had a cozy home near the water, the water helped him think. His door was rather rickety looking as if it had been broken many times. There were all kinds of puzzles laying around his house. In the corner was a violin that looked like it was used often.
On his small desk lay papers and a single puzzle. A deep maroon puzzle box. Johnny stared at it intently. He hardly ever changed out of his white shirt and black pants. His shoes were neatly set next to his bed. A top hat was sitting on a pile of books in the corner of his desk. Off the back of his chair was a long navy blue trench coat.
There were all kinds of books laying around none of them actually had names on them. Come on Hershal you can solve this. Just remember every puzzle has an answer, he thought to himself. He stood up and walked around the house trying to think of what the solution of the puzzle box was.
He walked into the kitchen looking around at it. Hmmm... Maybe if I... His thoughts rushed around in his head. He walked back to his desk and sat down. He picked up the puzzle box trying to figure it out. He turned it around in his hands inspecting every inch of it. He had looked it over maybe a hundred times and it never seemed to change the fact that he couldn't solve it.
He sighed and set it down. He pulled a piece of paper over and a pencil. He doodled the puzzle box down on the paper and made marks every place he could trying to find an answer. He put down the pencil and crumpled the paper. He tossed it over his shoulder. It bounced off a book shelf and missed the trash can by an inch.

Azrin walks down the wide, black and white marble hall with the orb in his hand, holding it as if it were a delicate, priceless heirloom. His other hand is free, but it is still raised as his fingers are 'fiddling' in the air, as if playing a musical instrument that isn't there. His footsteps of he and his companion's echo throughout the quiet place and Azrin finds that he is content with it. His dark, long cloak covers his arms and legs comfortably and the black boots at his feet keep his feet warm against the cool breeze that rushes through the hexagonal hallway. His black hair darkens his presence, as well, leaving his bright, gold eyes to be the only thing that stands out.
His companion, with neatly trimmed, short silver hair and matching gold eyes, is wearing white, polished, and slim armor with gold markings in various and random places and silver boots and gloves, looks to him with annoyance. His hands are filled with a visor and a black rubix cube. He carries himself in a very noble, confident manner; his back straight and his chest up.
"Honestly, Azrin." Reihenfolge says, "You always wear these dark clothes and walk in silence in these deserted, quiet hallways. What happened to your social side?"
"That's what you are fore, Reihen." Azrin says, "Why would I need anyone else? Besides, being the guardian of this place is an occupation of honor. You should be pleased."
"I'm annoyed." Reihenfolge says bluntly, "I deserve sunlight!"
"You wear a visor in the sunlight. You always complain about it when we're out." Azrin debates.
"Yes, well now that I rarely have it, I want it." Reihenfolge admits.
They enter the center, hexagon chamber where a hexagonal table is. In the center of the table, there is a hole with a cylindrical, empty stand that rises above the table's surface. Azrin rises above the table in flight, reaches the pedestal, and places the orb in it's center.
"This is pathetic, Azrin." Reihenfolge says, "You clean that thing every week. I'm your only contact. You have no life."
Azrin flies back to the floor and lands, blinking both sets of eyelids towards his companion. "I'm beginning to wish I hadn't solved that rubix cube."
"You are not." Reihenfolge argues, "You should be grateful for a great companion like myself."
Azring leaves the room in silence, deciding not to respond or argue with Reihenfolge.

Johnny sighed and stood up. He walked over to his bed. He sat down to put on his shoes. Once he was done with that he stood up again. This time he walked over to his top hat and put it firmly on his head. He then picked up his trench coat slowly putting it on.
Once he was dressed he picked up the puzzle box and put it in his jacket pocket. Johnny walked out the door and turned around to lock it. The door knob had an unusual key hole. He looked around to make sure no one was looking. He pulled out a key that didn't look right for the key hole. He locked the door and walked away.
He made his way into town. He was deep in thought not really paying attention to where he was going. He soon found himself in the market. Hmmm I could use a few things, he thought before walking further into the market. As he walked he bumped into a 16 year-old girl. He didn't really notice her cause he was lost in thought.
He stopped once he realized he bumped into someone. He turned around and looked at her. "Terribly sorry. Lost in thought. Do forgive me." He said in a calming voice. He didn't really want to apologize to her cause she messed up his train of thought, but he knew that it was the socially right thing to do. Besides he couldn't really yell at a little girl that he didn't even know.

Max sat at his table, working intently on a potion. His dark red hair hung down in his eyes, and Althia wondered how he could even see what he was doing. She had known the man for a long time, yet he was still a mystery. As she watched, she noticed him put the wrong ingredient in.
"Um, Max..." she said quietly.
He looked up at the girl. She looked the same as always; light pink hair to her shoulders, short pink dress, silver gloves, knee high boots, and of course, in her hand was the Amber Staff. He looked at the bottle he was holding in his hand and set it down.
"Oh darn. Must've picked up the wrong bottle," he replied with a slight smile. He knew she wouldn't believe him, so he didn't bother to hide his amusement.
"Max... you would get so many more orders if you would stop playing pranks on them," she said, shaking her head. They'd been through this a hundred times, but he never listened.
"My dear girl," Max said, full grin on his face now. "Sometimes you just need to have some fun with life. This fellow, for instance, thinks he'll blend completely into shadows with this potion. However, instead he'll start to glow brightly."
He began to laugh like it was one of the funniest things he'd ever done. Althia just shook her head again and smiled at him. He may be nuts, but she still enjoyed his company. She took a seat at the table with him and watched him go back to work.

Palia, completely distracted by the jewelry, did not notice the man [Johnny] coming ever so closely until he was right upon her. She did not have time to think or move before a force pushed her to the ground. She sat up quickly after falling to the ground to examine the man. She listened politely as he spoke his apology, then nodded as she said, "It is alright. I should have moved out of your way. Please forgive me." A shy smile spread across her face as she looked upon the man.
Glacies offered Johnny a hand as Palia pulled herself off of the ground. "I am very sorry to inconvenience you this way. Palia did not mean to bother you, though, so I hope there are no hard feelings." Glacies assured, her navy blue eyes softening as she looked at him.
Something about him seemed odd to her. She felt a certain aura around him that she did not feel from the people around him. Her eyes scanned him over, and she noticed something sticking slightly out of his pocket. She stared at it for a few seconds, coming to the conclusion that it would have to be a puzzle box because of the design on it. The strange feeling must be coming from that... she thought to herself. It must be another summon!
After realizing this, Glacies stepped back beside Palia. "If there is anything we can assist you with, please tell us." Glacies and Palia both said uniformly at the same time, both bowing slightly.

Johnny observed them for a minute listening to them. "Hmmm you know There is something you could help me with." He said to them. "I am looking for a Puzzle shop. You see the one I normally go to has closed down due to well some unfortunate circumstances." He said not really elaborating on the circumstances.
"You see I quite enjoy a puzzle or a mystery in fact that reminds me I have something to do after I go by the puzzle shop." He said searching his pockets for something. "AH HA! Here it is!" He exclaimed pulling out what looked like a letter. "I knew I had it on me somewhere." He said holding a letter with an official seal of the king.
"Right better not lose that." He said putting it in the pocket with the puzzle box. "Anyway terribly sorry to be so rude. My name is Johnny Hershal Wright!" He said with a bow taking off his hat. "Please Call me Hershal." He said now putting his top hat back on his head.

Palia and Glacies share a glance before looking back at Johnny. "My name is Palia." "And my name is Glacies. It's is a pleasure to meet you, Hershal." They both alternately say.
Palia then begins to examine the stalls. "I'm not quite sure there is a Puzzle shop or not... We just got back here ourselves..." Palia explains.
"It is true that we just got back, but I know this place like the back of my hand," Glacies says, calmly tying back her glowing light blue hair into a ponytail. "I presume Abbersworn hasn't changed too much, so perhaps this Odd Stall that was usually near the center of this marketplace is still here. Would you like me to show you the way?"

"Ah yes the odd shop in the middle of town!" He said now remembering the shop. "Oh no wait... that is the one that got closed down. Hmmmm... No matter I should really be heading off to see what the Royal Highness wants with me this time." He said giving another bow to Palia and Glacies.
My what an odd couple of people, he thought to himself. He now went back to his deep thought walking through the crowds of people with out running into anyone. He made his way to the castle. Once he got there two guards stopped him.
"Hey! No one is allowed in to see the king with out permission!" One guard said to him. He broke out of his deep thought and looked at the guards. "Oh you must be new here. The Name is..." He started but was cut off mid sentence by the other guard. "We don't care who you are we arn't letting you in!" The guard said pushing him back.
Hershal regained his footing. "Now see here I have a royal invitation." He said pulling out the letter with the seal on it. "Ha! That is a fake! Why would the king want some awfully dressed person like you?" One guard said. "Yeah not to mention you reek of the ocean smell." The other said holding his nose.
Hershal sighed loudly, "I was ordered here by the King!" The two guards laughed at him. "Quite a funny man we have here. Get lost before we decided to make you a human kabob." The guards said before an older looking guard walked over. "Be quiet you two!" The third one ordered. They fell silent. "I am terribly sorry for these two new guards Hershal." The older guard said.
"Not at all they are new just need to be disciplined a little." Hershal said walking over to the older guard. "Well follow me the King would like to see you right away. He says he has quite the mystery for you this time." The older guard said leading Hershal into the castle.

King Arden walks into the room with is back straight and his chest up, hoping Junaluska is there. As usual, she doesn't disappoint.
"Well, well. I was hoping you'd be here." The King says, "I hope you have time to do me a few....tasks? I would really like to get some things done around here. I'm still not used to this stupid crown. Solana, could you please fix it?"
Just as he finished speaking a servant walked into the room. "Your majesty, there's-"
"Would you be silent!?" King Arden exclaims, rolling his eyes. "I'm having my crown straightened!"
"My apologies, Your majesty." The servant says, bowing his head and looking at his shoes.
"Now, what do you want??" King Arden asks impatiently.
"There's someone here to see you. Hershal, Sir?" He says.
"AH!!" King Arden's face lights up with a smile, his voice booming. "Escort him in!!"
"Well, well. I was hoping you'd be here." The King says, "I hope you have time to do me a few....tasks? I would really like to get some things done around here. I'm still not used to this stupid crown. Solana, could you please fix it?"

Junaluska gets up from the bed and opens the door for the king to walk in. She bow's slightly. "Your majesty, You know I live only to serve you." she said. "I will do as you ask.
Solana and Tzefira both stand to attention for the king. They both bow to him and then Solana stands up. "Your Majesty I will adjust your crown for you." She was adjusting his crown when the servant came in.

Velina skipped towards the courtyard gates happily, with Elwyn levitating in the air only footsteps behind her. She stopped however when she heard the sound of an oboe being played. She turned around, facing the castle, and looked up. There, on a balcony, was Heidrun. Velina knew Heidrun fairly well, however they never really had much time to spend together.
"She looks...like something is bothering her." Elwyn stated.
"Maybe she'll want to go shopping with us!" Velina exclaimed. She put her hands up to her mouth and called out, "HEY! HEIDRUN!"

Once Hershal was in the castle far enough the old guard left. He was then met by a servant that led him to where the king was. "Wait here for a second Mr. Wright." The servant said nervously. "Please Call me Hershal. Mr. Wright makes me sound like some kind of stuffy business man. Or an attorney." Hershal said with a shiver at the thought of being an attorney. The Servant went in to talk to the king.
No mater how many times he was brought to the castle he could never really fathom how big the place was. He was sure the castle had secrets hidden in it that he just couldn't wait to solve. If he was ever given the chance to explore on his own.
The servant stepped back out to talk to Hershal. "Right this way sir." The servant said Leading Hershal into see the king. "Your Majesty!" He said taking off his top had in a grand display. "And my my my is this Junaluska that I see before me?" Hershal said putting his hat back on. "So I hear you have quite the mystery for me sire." Hershal said addressing the King in the proper manner.

I can tell cause of the slight discoloration of some of his clothing. That isn't why you called me here though. That is far to minor of a mystery, let alone one you probably didn't even notice until I said something. No this is on a far greater scale." He said still thinking about what he observed on his way there.
"Hmmm lets see... If it is about the lost horse it was one of the guards. There would be no reason for a guard that stands guard all day to have tuffs of Horse hair in his armor joints. Though that is something far to obvious." Hershal said sprouting off all kinds of mysteries that could the King wanted.
"The only thing I could think of is the mystery of the Puzzle box. Though you asked me about that the last time I was here solving a murder for you. I must say I am completely stumped on why you called me here, your Highness." He said admitting defeat.

King Arden moves to his throne room with pride and sits immediately, looking out as his visitors stand around him. With an arrogant smile, he nods approvingly.
"Yes! I like this setting!" King Arden says, "Now, guess why I have called you!! Guess!
....No, no, Hershal, no. None of that. You amuse me, so!"
"Yes! I like this setting!" King Arden says, "Now, guess why I have called you!! Guess!

After Hershal's departure, Palia and Glacies shared a confused glance. Palia then turns to face the direction Hershal had run off in before smiling and saying, "He seemed nice. I wonder if we'll get to meet him again." Glacies sighs and smooths out her light blue dress. She steps a little closer to Palia to whisper into her ears so softly no one around could possibly hear. "I do believe that puzzle box in Hershal's pocket wasn't any normal toy..." Glacies begins, but Palia cuts her off. "It was a summon, right? It couldn't be anything else. It has to be something like that if you are pointing it out to me. Am I correct?" Glacies nods, then begins to fiddle with one of the indigo necklaces that was being displayed on the stall. Palia smiles blankly, then skips off a little ways away. "Shall we get going? I grow bored of looking at this jewelry, and I'd like to explore my old home to see what is different." Palia suggests. Glacies nods as she sets down the necklace, then they both make their way down through the marketplace.

He always knew the king liked calling him here to the castle. It always threw him off with all the stuff happening in the castle. He couldn't think clearly while he was in the castle. Even in the city he had troubles thinking of solutions.

"So, Nikolai, where do you and Spark plan to go today?" Kent asked. He was a kind-looking man in his fifties who had been Nikolai's guardian for about six years.
Nikolai's pale green eyes were very serious when he replied. "I was thinking that we can spend today looking for leads in Abbersworn, then tomorrow-"
"Oh! Yeah! There are lots and lots of people in Abbersworn! Do you think we'll be able to ask each and every one of them for clues in only one day, Niko?" Spark was bursting with energy as usual, she couldn't even stay still as she spoke.
"Spark... No. There's no need to talk to every citizen of Abbersworn," Nikolai spoke calmly, with just a slight tone of irritation. "We're just going to look a little for clues, though I doubt we'll find any. It's been six years, and nobody has mentioned him. We're just doing this to be sure."
He was talking about his older brother, Lyle, who had gone missing after their parents were murdered six years ago. Nikolai had recently decided to go searching for him, determined to find him even if he had to travel away from his home with Kent. He turned and opened the door to leave.
"Oh," Spark said, her spirit dampened only slightly by Nikolai's pessimism. "Okay! Let's go!"
With that, she grabbed Nikolai by the arm and dragged him out the door, not giving him a chance to protest.
Kent laughed. "Come back tonight and let me know what you find!"
