It's been maybe 2 months since the black tendrils of death first appeared. Or has it been 3 months? The tendrils have been around for so long, Catherine couldn't remember anymore. Every day stank with the smell of corpses and rotting depression. Plague and plague magic were nothing new, but the circumstances were something never seen before. At first it seemed like strange magic, but nobody knew anything about the black coils, not even the great scholars who studied magic their entire lives. Then came the first casualties. A sudden onset of fatigue, followed by rapid bone decay, dehydration, and a host of other symptoms. Every time a new coil appeared, deaths soon followed. Chiron, Catherine's #1 hero, was simply dumbfounded. Every patient he inspected just had symptoms that came out of nowhere. The only thing he could deduce was that those black coils were connected.

Catherine walked into the crowded infirmary made out of a grand ballroom. She gazed down the isles of dying patients, crippled in their stretchers. Weary from countless failed surgery operations, she transitioned to nursing the mortally sick. She waded through dozens of other nurses and broken bodies, holding a plate of crackers and a cup of water. Stretcher after stretcher, she continued down the claustrophobic isle until she came to a patient limp in his bed. He was an older man, probably somewhere in his 40's. Yet he looked as if he was in his late 80's. The two met each other's gaze as the man was hand fed the crackers and water. Why am I even doing this? He's a cough away from blowing out his lungs. The guy should just die already, for crying out loud. Why are you here? Why continue living? You look like a shriveled mole rat. Lucky bastard. Soon you won't have to put up with this hellhole. Ugh...this whole country has gone to hell.

"Thank you." The man uttered under a whisper's breath. Catherine's eyes narrowed. What a pitiful human being. And even in his death throes, he still knows his manners. "Close your eyes and sleep. You need rest." Catherine instructed. Out of the smallest sympathy in her heart, she hoped the patient would pass on in his sleep. Taking the utensils back to the kitchen, she ran into another nurse. "Are you alright? You seem...unwell." The nurse asked. Catherine dug her heels into the floor, trying to forgive the newbie for her lack of understanding. "I'm not dying. At least not yet. Spend a few days here and you'll look just as dead as the corpses in the back." With that, Catherine paced around the fledgling and tossed the items into the flooded sink. She let herself fall into a chair and took a moment to drive the negativity down. She really didn't want to get another earfull about how her attitude was damaging morale. It wasn't her fault nobody wanted to her the truth of the matter. It was only a matter of time.

Then, a strange voice filled the building, speaking of the coils. Catherine darted to the main hall, finding a projection of an average looking man standing at the front doors. His image towered over everyone so that nobody could miss him. Some sort of illusion magic, probably. The man explained how the coils came from a being Catherine never heard of. It told of a way to rid the world of the coils and save the planet. Whoever this man was, he was certainly the most interesting fool to step up. Not a single person had been able to stop the coils. No magic, no deity, no technological marvel could make a dent. Catherine looked back at the crowd. A good deal of them were captivated by the illusion, but many more ignored it. This is what humanity has come to. After all these years. Miserable little creatures. No way I'm sticking around to watch everyone die. I'd rather off myself than stay in this cesspool any longer. Catherine grabbed her artbook and bag of personal supplies and hurried back the main hall. A bright circle had appeared below the illusion. Catherine closed her eyes and ran to the circle, waiting for her demise.

Taeyrn Stennoth: The Entrance
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Taeyrn couldn't believe it as he watched the bodies drop, student after student becoming ill as their skin becomes covered with black veins of some magical, mysterious illness.  At first, he thought the deaths were being caused by some kind of magical plague, but then he realized that it was more than just Force Users that were dying.  It was almost a relief when a lot of the teachers went down--but seeing as many authority people as there were going down...

It became apparent after the fissures within the planet of Aria became more visible and scary that this is where the illness was coming from.  A lot of the prominent leaders were dying, which lessened order and added to the chaos and the panic.  It took several weeks for Taeyrn to work with a few others just to get people within the academy to calm down.

When the Visitor came, it was sudden.  He appeared at the Academy's gates several times during the day, repeating his message and his warning to the people.  At first, Taeyrn thought it was a hoax--or a lousy attempt to get people to calm down or to have hope that the black veins will go away.  Either one would have been shitty and not at all amusing or helpful in any way.  However, when he started dreaming about the Visitor...that hit it home pretty easily.

After six months, two weeks, and three days, Taeyrn made the very difficult decision to assist with the issue that the Visitor spoke of.  When he went to the magical apparition that appeared at the gate, a magical circle appeared upon the ground and he stepped onto it...

Maresca was practicing with Ruysha.  They have just completed the Earth temple, and not a moment too soon.  The coils have reached the temple.  There was no explanation for their sudden appearance.  Was it a new attack devised by the demons.  Although they seem not to like it either.

She is on guard with a figure approaches her.  It is odd to see a lone infamia this far out.  She stops her practicing.  The infamia introduces himself as the visitor and tells of his plight.  She is surprised that he is asking her.  Sure her magic and fighting skills have improved.  It had to with this group, but she does not consider herself a warrior.

She looks back at the house the others are in.  “You promise that I will be brought back here after we defeat this King Ness?  We have our own demons to beat here too.  They will need to be informed of my disappearance.  If yes, then I will go with you visitor.”  She is thankful she brought her pack out this morning.  She only hopes the others will not miss her too much

When disaster strikes, the world, in all its great power, adjusts.

It recovers.

It turns, no matter how many tsunamis or hurricanes ravage the land; no matter how many earthquakes shatter the ground into pieces.

No matter how great the storm; there is always a dawn behind it, always people to help other recover- always the better natures of man to act as a bandaid.

Disasters are only disasters until others come along to pick up the pieces.

This, this was not such a disaster.

Delilah saw the world; this brave, new, word, so new to her- torn to pieces by blackness and disease. She witnessed brave men and women, whose powers far outclassed her own, wither and die.

She watched Braedon out, time and time again, disappearing out the door because there had been yet another collapsed building, yet another emergency, yet another problem that needed fixing.

But, in a sinking boat, you plug one hole up, and two more spring leaks.

For every one emergency or crisis handled, two took its place. For every once saved there were three dead. For every mother reunited with her lost child; there were three more, small, wide eyed lost souls staring at the door to the CETE offices, waiting for a parent that would never return.

It broke her heart.

Delilah did all that she could. Putting up barriers to protect people from falling debris, lifting heavy rubble to help with searches through collapsed buildings, rescuing people stuck atop crumbling buildings. She did all she could; but the death, the darkness, the wrongness, it was starting to weigh on her.

She rarely slept, so busy chasing after Braedon, making sure she was always in a position to help him and the rest of CETE, but when she did, she no longer dreamed.

She saw visions of children covered in inky black wrongness, mothers digging their hands bloody, sifting through rubble and wailing; she saw visions of Braedon's body beneath rubble.

Those were the worst.

Nature no longer sang to her like it used to- it was dying, she could tell. The world was withering before her eyes, shriveling, wasting away. The lush green grasses yellowed, and the water became tainted. She felt helpless, so, so helpless.

Until there came 'a Visitor'. He appeared before Delilah, amongst the ash and the rubble.

"Pierce!" She cried out, having lost him aways back. The Visitor continued to speak. She squinted at him. His whole...story...sounded like a comic book, a fairy tale.

Lately, she'd learned better than to believe in fairy tales.

But some pard of her, some tiny, remaining light inside, pushed her onward.

'The Delilah of months past would not brush him off, she would not squander her chance. The Delilah of months ago would have seized this situation by the horns, not letting go.'

She watched as the platform apparated before the man; she saw the energy dripping off it.

She might die, if she went on with this. But then again, if she didn't, she'd be resigning the world to a slow death.

She heard the clamor of a the group she had left behind approaching, having scoured the other levels for survivors.

She had to do it now; she didn't have the heart to say goodbye, if she lost.

And, well, if she lived- she'd have one hell of a story to tell Braedon, wouldn't she?

Delilah took her place on the platform, steeling herself.

She was going to cancel the apocalypse.

Claire had been riding with her group, Ilyana had given them orders to take down Ri Altenas before finding an item that Xiax had lost that belong to her. Ham was in charge and their little band was growing closer, ever so closer to their target.

Ham had instructed them to keep quiet that they needed to know what they were getting into before they started the fight. Ham and his twin sister July were known for their skills in Infinity Edge and Claire would do as he said. He was in charge and that was that.

They had finished their task when all of a sudden it was almost like the end was upon them. They made it to Sheherazade and it was like a magical sickness was upon them killing them off like flies. Claire had been racing back and forth helping with the bodies of the dead when a white light caught her attention. She heads towards the light and finds a man hovering there explaining about the darkness that is taking over their world currently. She looks back and nods her head. "I understand." She said and jumps on the platform.

[ATTN:  Claire, Maresca, Delilah, Catherine, & Taeyrn]

As each member walks through their circle, they will be surrounded by a black void, unable to move as soon as both feet are planted onto the circle as a thing, transparent wall  shoots upwards to the sky/ceiling around them at the circle's edge.  Weightlessness and a feeling of contentment, bliss, and relaxation comes next.  Finally, gravity can be felt again and the solidity of a ground or floor of some kind can be felt beneath the feet.  The transparent walls fall to the floor, leaving only the circle upon a stone floor before it, too, fades from existence.  Five people are now standing upon platforms within a single room, left alone with each other at exactly the same time.

The room is entirely made of stone--black, smooth stone.  It's cold, but still and quiet.  Circular in shape, this rather expansive and large room rolls up into a dome, creating a semi-sphere that rises up beyond the torch light and into darkness.  The glowing circles that faded from beneath their feet appeared upon circular platforms that rose above the rest of the floor by about six inches.  As each circle fades, each person will find they they are standing about thirty feet away from the others that appeared here with them with the gear and equipment that they left their worlds still intact.  Upon the floor, about thirty feet apart, there are small, standing torches that light up the room with dim light.

On the outer edges of the wall, there are lower wall torches, but there are also indentations--no, spherical protrusions that appear to be mini-semi spheres that are spread out evenly upon the floor.  Within the center area of these spheres, doors can be found, also made of stone with a rather large lever that will open it.  Everything is black.  There is no color and there is no light, save for the torches.   Yet, with all of this particular environment, the place is eerie and incredibly quiet.  So quiet, yet with music--no strange, ambient sounds in the background, resonating throughout the room with echoes.  When a person speaks, it will echo in here, and luckily, the sounds in the room aren't too loud to mask out words.

As soon as steps onto the circle all color disappears.  She panics and tries to move her feet, but cannot.  The next thing that happens is a wall forms around her.  She feels light and well relaxed at the same time.  She lands and the wall disappears.  She looks around at the room.  It is dimly lit.  It appears to be obsidian stone. She notices other people in front of here.  In addition to that there is some very ominous music playing in the background.  She cannot see musicians.  It is quiet, but very noticeable.

She whispers the light spell and a large sphere light appears.  It breaks off into four smaller pieces and spreads around the room.  It helps her to look at the others.  She does not recognize any of them.  Some have gear that is very different.  She grips her staff.  “Hello, are you all here to help the visitor?”

Taeyrn Stennoth: Room I
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Taeyrn's senses are stunted when the void surrounds him, not at all surprised by the overwhelming lack of a view when the circle activates and wall of magic surrounds him.  The state of bliss as he travels to his doom is surprising, however.  The contentedness and the weightlessness are just amazing.  Just this feeling alone makes Tae feel so much peace--more peace than he's experienced in a long time.  His muscles are relaxed, his eyes close, and his mind just...sits.  He can't bring himself to dread the battle to come.

At first, it builds up within him, all of the relief from not feeling anxious or stressed.  All of the surrounding black vines and death had left much to be desired in life--there hadn't been time to sit down, relax, talk, party...It was just about surviving, about hoping your loved ones or allies weren't next on the list to be infected.  And since how the infection spread was so random and inexplicable, there was no way to know who was next or how long it would take them to survive the sickness once they had it.  All of it was just one day at a time, pushing on, hoping to keep living.

After that relief pushes into him, though, filling up his heart as much as it can, he begins to weep.  Tears fall down for what feels like an eternity as the pure joy of having a break from all of that chaos wells up into him.  He hasn't really felt anything in so long.  Just this pure bliss of being himself, of having the freedom to just stand, to just think...it's something he hopes to never take for granted ever again.  He hugs himself in the darkness, feeling that weightlessness and joy just warming his soul as he wishes that this moment would never end.

But the moment does end and what follows is just annoying.  A cold, black room of stone, torches, and some of the creepiest sounds Tae has ever heard in his entire life.  How in the hell does that even work?  Is it magic?  The room is like that of an egg, except they are within it.  And there are doors--two before him that he can see that are quite odd looking, themselves, as they are also placed on the outside of eggs--eggs that bulge into the edges of the larger egg that they stand in.  It's crazy architecture--there are no buildings of this make where he is from.

When Taeyrn hears a voice asking about them and if they are related to the Visitor, he jumps--he had believed himself alone.  When he turns, he realizes he's not alone risen platform beneath his feet.  Rather, there are four others with him, all standing upon circles that now are fading, just as his fades.  Interesting.  The Visitor had said that there would be more...he just didn't expect to start here like this with complete strangers.  He looks them over, one at a time, analyzing their postures, their clothing and weapons.  He stands straight, his hands behind his back and his eyes cold as his face turns to stoic emptiness.

There is new light, now--someone cast it, but he's not sure which one.  He was too distracted by their surroundings and by all of the people and the dimness that he hadn't fully seen what they were all doing at first.  His eyes were still adjusting to the flickering of the light of the room by the time the light orbs had filled the space where they stood to provide additional light.  It was helpful--lit up the faces of everyone and made it easier to see their expressions, as well as their odd clothing.

As he had turned, there's a woman standing right in the center of the room.  She's got very dark skin with an angular, pointy jaw, and short, black hair.  Her clothing is simple with dark, earthen colors in design, but they are really a strange style that he's never seen before.  She looks human enough, though.  Her weapon of choice appears to be a staff--but what surprises him the most is her age--she must be in her late forties, at least. Her posture, her gaze, her overall clothing all seemed like something a younger warrior would wear and hold, but she was not expressing that age in any other way but by skin alone.  Eccentrically dressed, but very pretty.

To his left, another older one--but not quite as old as the other.  She's got to be late twenties to mid-thirties.  This one also looks human, thankfully, though this one seems quite short.  He hair is blond, put up in a strange outfit with oddly dull eyes and pale skin.  Her clothes are...wow.  Just...weird.  She has both really tight pants on AND a skirt on over that--two layers.  A couple of bags...Why is there a ribbon hanging from her neck?  Is that a thing that helps with her fighting style in some way?  ...Eccentrically dressed, but very pretty.

Tae turns to the right.  Another human, but very young.  Excellent.  This one looks...average in height and build, with brown hair that has splashes of blonde and eyes that do not match in color--but he can't tell exactly what colors they are in this lighting...only that they are different.  She looks so small, so frail....this was the one that spoke, he believes.  He nods his head at her to acknowledge that he is, in fact, from the Visitor as she has guessed.  Not that it is a hard guess, considering that he told them there would be others.   Her clothing is simple with daggers at her hips--but this one's clothing isn't too strange in style.  Well dressed and also very pretty.

At first, he thought this was all--but there's another human!  On the other side of the dark-skinned older lady with her staff, there's another woman, though she's not quite as young as the frail girl.  This girl is also short, however, and her short brown hair looks rather plain in comparison to her rather impressive armor set that she's wearing, completed by that rather fierce expression and gaze, hardened by battle's experience.  Now that's what Tae was hoping for--a warrior.  The long sword on her back completes the look and sets his mind at ease. Intimidating, but very pretty.

They're all beautiful.  That's nea--wait.  He's the only guy here?!  What the serious hell??  This is just...what?  Unless he is somehow, by some miracle, stuck with three non-humans that aren't actually humans, he's screwed!  Women's monthly flows all line up and that means his death will just line up with them.  Fantastic.  Moody women, all with weapons or battle skills of some kind, and he's just one dude who can barely live.  Great.  The dread sinks in and he waves to them awkwardly before he moves towards the center of the room, where the woman with the staff stands.

"Hello," Tae greets politely, "I'm Tae...I guess we're all going to kill a King."

1 - Raid: King Ness Empty Re: Raid: King Ness

Post by Vye 9th July 2017, 10:13 am

As a dark shroud enveloped Catherine's vision, she desperately looked around her for some kind of light or any semblance of the ball room she left behind. She reached out into the darkness, feeling something only a couple inches in front of her. A creeping dread sank into her mind as her death appeared to be closer than she ever thought. Calm down, stupid. You signed up for this. Just accept it. Catherine closed her eyes once more and tightly gripped her sketchbook, until she felt like she was floating in space, and for a brief moment, peace of mind. Then she felt the weight on her shoes once more, and when she opened her eyes she was no longer shrouded by darkness. She was in a room. A room black enough to compete with the darkness that transported to wherever she was.

Catherine stood atop a small platform, about as large as the circle she stepped in. But the surrounding room appeared grand in its own unsettling way. It was architecture she had never seen before. This is where the Visitor lives? What in sam hell? Catherine looked all around her, too afraid to step off the platform even though it seemed only a foot or less off the ground. Under the dim firelight, other humanoid figures stood on other platforms. It was too dark to make out any details until a ball of light appeared. It separated into smaller orbs which helped illuminate the other figures. They were all women like Catherine, except one young lad on the far side of the room. Some of them looked to have come from the same place Catherine did, others looked like they came from a different country-or maybe a different time.

I really thought there would be more people here. Maybe I've become this gullible after so long. What the hell am I supposed to do? One of the women then built up the gall to speak first. "Do you know what's going on?" Catherine asked in a loud tone. She realized she didn't have to compensate so much for the distance when echoes of her voice rang. "Well fuck me, it's quiet in here." That's when she noticed the ominous music playing in the background. No musicians, and no obvious port holes to play music through. Was this more of the Visitor's illusion magic?

Delilah wants to close her eyes as the void overwhelms her, but she doesn't let herself. The state of bliss forcing her to blink almost furiously to keep her eyes open. 'How curious,' She thinks to herself, hand tightening on her staff as she feels....at peace. For the first time in a long time. The worry she had been carrying on her shoulders felt lifted for a moment. This was what she used to feel like, blissful, free, not stained with the worry and weight of death. She felt her eyes water, and finally allowed her eyes to close to fight it.

'The time for crying is not now, Delilah.' She told herself, white knuckling her staff as almost shaky laughter rose in her throat. Maybe this was the afterlife; and the visitor had been the grim reaper. Maybe she was dead, and just didn't realize it yet. Maybe her brain was making up this whole 'adventure' to make her feel better.

The sound, and the gold is what snaps her out of it. She opens her eyes, and she stands in the center of a cold, black, torch lit room. She is in the middle of four other people, who she cranes her neck around to see. One, a younger woman, possesses a light, though it does not do much to abate the rooms oppressive darkness. She sees another, shorter woman in armor, and a woman dressed in similarly strange clothing. There is one young man in the group, or would 'boy' be a better term?

She heard the young woman speak, but Delilah, slightly overwhelmed, had trouble making out the words in her own brain. Luckily, the boy had answered her, and was now walking to where she stood.

She focused her mind on what he was saying; deciphering the sounds into words into a sentence. He sounded.....nervous. Polite. But nervous.

Delilah smiles at him, her eyes still tired, but regaining, for a moment, their usual brightness.

"Cancel the apocalypse, kill a king, it sounds like we are super heroes in some comic book, does it not?" She offers her free hand out to him as he approaches. "It is nice to meet you, I am Delilah. Whoever you may be, it seems we are now teammates!"

She would ask about...abilities later, after the confusion. She pops up at another womans subsequent comment, still younger than her, but older than the other two that had been speaking.

She looks, hand still out at the boy, still smiling. "'Killing a king' it would seem. But, as for the room, I have no idea." She observed the doors, not keen on finding out where they lead alone.

Two of the people answer and let her know they are in fact allies.  They will notice the balls of light moving around them.  The first is a guy.   He is wearing clothing similar to hers.  The fabric looks a little different.  He appears to be human, no infamina wings or horns like a tiamant.  He looks to be about the same age as her!  She is relieved that she is not the youngest one.  He appears to have a sword with him.  She wonders if he has any magic.

The next is an older woman, not elderly, but appears to be the same age as the Mistress.  She is tall, a lot taller than she.  She is wearing odd clothing and is brandishing a staff.  She looks like she can use it too.  She appears to be human as well.  How odd that humans appear to be on other places.

The lights swirl around the other two.  The first spoke, but did not seem to know what was going on.  She didn’t try to attack though.  She is almost as tall as Maresca.  Her clothing too is strange.  Her skirt is short, which would not be accepted on a woman her age.  Unless she was looking for a husband.  She too is older though.  She does not appear to have any weapons.

The last woman has been silent up to now.  She is the same height as Maresca, but seems to be clad in armor.  That much armor is unheard of because it is so expensive.  She must be rich.  She appears to have a sword as well.  She will be a good person to have her back in battle.  She is older than Maresca, but not as old as the other two ladies.

Maresca tests the floor with Ryusha to make sure it is solid.  After experiencing the earth temple, one cannot be too sure.  Once she is sure the floor is solid, she takes a few steps forward, checking the floor as she proceeds.  She first goes to the male.  Her lights go back to their prior positions.  Upon reaching the man, she smiles at him.  It was then she sees a door.  “Oh do not tell me we have to select a door.  I don’t trust ominous doors.  I swear my hair is still singed from the lightening temple.”

Claire feels uneasy in the void. She closes her eyes and let's it pass as she shivers. The hair on the nape of her neck stands up and she knows this will not be pretty. When the feeling passes she opened s her eyes into a dark room. It's dimly lit and music playing in the background. There was no music players that she could see.

There are several other people that are there. None that look like they are from her world. She cooks her head as one speaks up. Two move from their places and she does the same. "My name is Claire. I only know what the visitor told me in my world and I have come to do the right thing. Ilyana of Infinity Edge would have wanted it that way. If taking out this king means bringing back what's good in my home, then so be it."

As people started to converse with each other, Catherine stepped down from her pedestal to get in on the action. It appeared they all truly believed they would be stopping the apocalypse. Catherine held onto her doubt, at least until this Visitor person gave them some more info. One woman named Claire got Catherine's attention as soon as she said she spoke of Infinity Edge. Delighted to see someone she could talk to, she immediately waltzed up to the armored woman, staring at her straight in the eyes.

Taeyrn Stennoth: Room I
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

"Do you know what's going on?  Well fuck me, it's quiet in here."

"Cancel the apocalypse, kill a king, it sounds like we are super heroes in some comic book, does it not?" The older woman says as she holds out her hand to him, "It is nice to meet you, I am Delilah. Whoever you may be, it seems we are now teammates!"

The third girl seems uncertain before she, too, approaches closer to them, “Oh do not tell me we have to select a door.  I don’t trust ominous doors.  I swear my hair is still singed from the lightening temple.”

The armored warrior finally speaks, and Tae's attention moves to her, "My name is Claire. I only know what the visitor told me in my world and I have come to do the right thing. Ilyana of Infinity Edge would have wanted it that way. If taking out this king means bringing back what's good in my home, then so be it."

However, the other girl recognizes something in her, and Taeyrn can tell.  She moves up to her with an intent, familiar movement, "You're from Infinity Edge? I'm from White Cross. The name's Catherine. Have you ever seen a middle aged guy named Chiron? He left the guild to help others combat the plague."

They're from the same world, obviously.  He's envious.  He'd give anything for a silver of familiarity like that right now--any kind of Force User would be welcomed.  He looks to them all as they speak, all of them fumbling with their thoughts, making no sense as their eyes dart to one another like those of the lost and he sees no sense from hardly any of them.  The elders are those that are in charge--that is the way.  He looks to Delilah and smiles, choosing to ignore the strange, familiar chat between the white crosses and infinite edges that has excluded those not from their world.

"Delilah, a pleasure to meet you," Tae says, happy to have another introduction.  "And you, Claire.  "Delilah, I mean no disrespect in this statement...where I am from, the eldest are our leaders and I must defer to you.  What wisdom would you offer as our group's newfound leader?"

Maresca looks around the room as the others gather. They seem alright so far. However the guy is claiming the older lady as leader. Appears on his world the eldest is the leader. She can see the sense in that, but age does not necessarily mean leadership. Just look at the group on their world. Each member had their own strengths and weaknesses.

“I know I am not a leader, but we aren’t doing much standing around. You guys seem really nice, and I appreciate it. However if your world is like mine, then you know it is in trouble. I want to stop the sickness before it kills more.” She looks away remembering the children at the orphanage. “No, we have to stop the dying.”

Delilah smiled as she shook the boys hand, he had a nice, firm grip; she liked that, if they were going to be teammates. He was confident; at least, portraying the image of confidence. He seemed slightly nervous, a tad wary of the group around them. She couldn't blame him; they all seemed so...strange. Good people, but strange. Though she supposed she was the last person to be talking about strange.

His comment about leadership, however, caught her entirely off guard. 'How curious', she thought. An hierarchy system based on age; it might make sense, in many societies the younger deferred to the older for guidance but this...

She heard the other woman speak as she opened her mouth to reply.

"While I am grateful that you have deemed me a worthy figure for such council; I believe that we all must have wisdom to share, strengths and weaknesses- it must be why we were....chosen, I suppose." Delilah did not waver. "Working as a team, knowing each others strengths, abilities and weaknesses, and compensating for them, that is how we shall triumph." She cleared her throat. "For example, to start. I am Delilah Delacroix; I am an Ether user, an Etheriest; that is what we call it where I'm from. My ability is Telekinesis, I can manipulate the physical world around me, move objects, create telekinetic blasts, form barriers, and slow my fall from high places." She smiled to herself, noting the darkness about her room. Surely a young man such as himself might be fond of a magic trick? "Also," As the word left her lips, Delilah lit up with a blue, electrical, bio luminescent light. Her skin shined and crackled, brightening the room around her, and her hair and clothing gently ebbed with the soft flow of her Telekinetic power. It was nothing strong; merely a parlor trick from her less experienced days. "I make an excellent flash light." She smiled slightly, her blue light reaching out about the room. Where she was from; children had called this display 'the shit'.

Claire smiled at Catherine. "It is a pleasure to meet you Catherine. It is good to know that someone else from my world is here. No I don't know who he is, but I will be sure to look out for him." She said with a smile.

She looked at Taeyrn. "I can understand where you get that from, but I do agree with Delilah. It takes team work along with skill to do things together. For me I am Claire Alexandra Lokhorst. I battle with this long sword beside me and I have a magical ability called Armored Ursa Major, where I turn into an armored bear to fight. I think we should fight together to bring down the evil that is in front of us."

Catherine's expression lost some of its luster, but the woman didn't appear deterred. "Ah, okay. Thanks." She turned her attention to the rest of the group, which had apparently already picked a leader. Catherine had no qualms about who was chosen, as all of them seemed equally prepared to lead a group to save a universe. She only hoped the elected leader wouldn't be the indecisive type. People soon starting sharing their powers. The leader explained her telekinesis, as well as showed off her magical bio-luminescence. Two very useful abilities. Catherine kept note of them. The woman named Claire claimed she fought with a sword and could turn into a bear...'How would a bear fight with a sword?' Catherine thought to herself. The mere idea might warrant a sketch of the woman in action, just for curiosity's sake.

Catherine then remembered her sketch book and checked to see if she could even draw anything. The light from the leader helped, but depending on the orientation of the book, she could hardly see anything. A more global light source would be better. Tearing her eyes away from her book, she faced the others.

"If you're injured, I can patch you up in a jiff. Just don't get hurt too bad, or too often. I can only do so much with my equipment. Oh, and I can make copies of anything I draw, and make it come to life. I've got a few dummies that can fight."

Maresca blushes. “Yes you are correct Delilah, blame the impetuous of youth. My name is Maresca. I also have magic, mine is light. As you saw earlier, I can make spheres of light. I can change them to arrows for attacking. If our enemy is dark in nature it will be effective. I can also heal wounds, but nothing mortal. That is my stronger magic.” She holds up her staff. “This is Ryusha. She is the rod of earth. I just recently unlocked her. I don’t know everything she is capable of. I guess we will find out together.”

She bites her lip. These guys don’t know anything about her world. They don’t know that she is weaker than most humans or that she only has one magic when humans usually have two. All they know is that she, like them, were chosen to kill King Ness. The others seem to have interesting magics too. She wonders what a bear is. Hopefully it does not look like a demon, or Maresca may attack her.

Taeyrn Stennoth: Room I
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The older woman was glowing in the dark, speaking of magics not all to strange to him--but yet the look of her glowing did seem strange to him, all the same.  He brought a small smile to Taeyrn and he had to push that look away as he listened to the others talk among themselves.  Delilah immediately dismissed being a leader--she misunderstood his words.  He merely meant that he wished to ask for her wisdom and guidance for this new situation, but others took it differently too, it would seem.  They all started speaking the obvious, that they must "work together" to defeat the enemy or some shit and Tae suppresses impatience with the strangers.  They haven't the time for the obvious.

Now they are speaking of their abilities, however.  They do have the time for that, at least.  Unfortunately, he doesn't understand most of what in the worlds they are saying.  What's a flash light? Ursa Major?  Drawings coming to life?  Dummies?  What?  Rod of earth that is unlocked?   Well, they are from different planets.  Different universes.  Confusion is to be expected.  Taeyrn decides to just look about the room, inspecting each of the doors as they are speaking, pulling off one of the torches to carry with him as he observes each one.  They all look the same.

He tries to open one and it does not budge.  He tries to pull with both arms and it won't budge.  He tries another.  Nothing.  With a scowl, he tries another.  Nothing.  Just what is this, a game?  That's when he realizes that each of the door handles are marked with a different symbol.  They all look vastly different.  In fact, this one looks like...four letteres.  C.E.T.E.  With some kind of shield logo around it.  What in the world?  He moves to the next.  It's a dagger with an infinity symbol looped around it.  And the next--Tae freezes.

Taeyrn instantly recognizes the symbol.  It is his own magical symbol, the very magical symbol required and used to used his ability.  Without it, he is powerless.  He is surprised to see it here, etched so simply and intricately on a simple doorknob.  He's frozen, his mind wandering as he ponders the why and the how of his magical symbol being on this particular doorknob.  Will this one open for him?  Is this room for him, then?  Is he meant to go through? For some reason, Taeyrn just can't put his finger on it, but this place, now...feels like a trap. A trap meant just for him. For them.

Post by JulietHasAGun 7th August 2017, 5:18 pm

Delilah watches as the boy, Tae, trots off to examine the doors; keeping a watchful eye on him as he does so. He seemed to be the youngest in the group, so no matter how experienced he seemed, Delilah seemed to have already made a deal with herself to look after him. It made her sad; a young man- no, boy- already seemingly so experienced in combat. Was it common in his world? Or was he an outlier? She figured it was impolite to ask so soon.

As her eyes tracked Tae, she listened to the others list off their abilities, a small smile coming to her face. This was like a real life superhero team! She might not understand exactly what plenty of their abilities did- but they seemed very strong in their own rights. The woman who seemed to know one of their other companions- Claire, could turn into a bear. A bear! Delilah would have liked to have been able to turn into a bear. Though she supposed the implications of that would have been....grizzly. She chuckled to herself, nodding at each person as they explained their abilities.

"So it seems we have a very reliable front line fighter in you, Claire. Your ability sounds fascinating!" She grinned, her eyes flickering from the boy for a moment. "And in you, Miss Catherine, we have a valuable healer. Your ability, making art come to life, seems to be very useful, as well. Maresca, we have a healer in you, as well- always good. This 'Rod Of Earth' seems a valuable asset as well. There are some earth based Etheriest's where I am from, I wonder if it acts similar to that?" The girl had offered no further explanation, and Delilah wasn't keen to prey. "So we have a front line fighter, two healers who also have combat abilities; and I have found myself a versatile combatant with my telekineses, so I suppose I shall pick up where I am needed. And-" Her eyes flickered over to Tae; he hadn't yet told them of what he could do, and he seemed rather fixated on the door before him.

She stepped down from the circle she was standing on, plodding over to him, sure he could see her coming from the blue glow she was still emitting, illuminating the area about then. She stopped when she came to stand next to him, surveying the symbol on the door; in meant nothing to her, funny looking at most, but to him- Her gaze flickered to Tae; how he seemed frozen in place. She had come over to ask him what his abilities were; but now a different question lingered on the tip of her tongue.

"Do you recognize the symbol?" She cocked her head at him; eyes keen on him, rather than the door.

“Thank you Miss Delilah, my fighting ability is a work in progress.”  Maresca sighs.

Her attention turns to Tae as he walks away.  He is examining the doors.  He walks past the first two after briefly glancing at them.  The third one catches his attention.  She watches him curiously as Delilah approaches him.  She the doors Tae looked at starting with the one closest to him.  “It appears the handles have symbols on them.  This one has a sideward 8 with a dagger.  This other one has the letters C.E.T.E and a shield.”  She goes to the next one.  It is the symbol that was engraved on the floor of the very first temple her team was in.  “Woah, this one I recognize from my world.  Everyone check the others to see if they correspond to you.”  A part of her wants to touch the door knob wondering if the green would illuminate.  “I don’t know if I like this.”

Claire moves to look at the doors as Maresca and Tae have done. She mentions one that sounds like the infinity Edge symbol and walks over towards that door. She stands there for a moment and looks at it.

"This symbol represents my guild. I wonder what would happen if I touch the handle." Claire said. She reaches out and touches the handle of the door.

Looks like we've got a balanced group. Catherine thought. Still, she was slightly envious of Maresca's magical healing ability. Catherine was aware she would take longer to heal anyone with her hands and tools alone. She'd have to work extra fast to keep up with magic powers. The boy, ever so antsy, had already walked off to explore his surroundings. The others soon followed suit. Doors with engraved door knobs distributed about the room.

Catherine walked about the perimeter, keeping her ears open for the other members. A doorknob with a sideways eight and a dagger? Infinity Edge! Catherine's eyebrows furrowed as she continued walking. These symbols seemed oddly familiar. And then she stumbled upon a door with her former guild's symbol carved into the doorknob.

"I don't remember being specifically chosen for this, yet these symbols are all have personal meaning to us. What kind of bullshit is this Watcher guy playing?" Book in hand and teeth clenched, Catherine reached for the door and attempted to open it.
