Beyond Space and Time RP Empty Beyond Space and Time RP

The swirls of destiny and fate are like a ripple that reaches out into the ages, beyond worlds, beyond dimensions, beyond time. As they coalesce, decisions are made, lives are created and ended, balance ebbs and flows, and the price is paid...

The girl cried out over the gale that surrounded them, the light from the massive doors pulling her in. Her silver locks swept around her rapidly, her silver eyes reflecting the multi-hued light from inside the doors. Her dress fluttered and flapped about her as her left hand pulled against the door while her right reached out, stretched, looking for purchase to anything that might save her. Only the man before her could hear her as he tearfully reached for her, struggling against the forces throwing the door shut.

"Elise! Elise!" he thundered. "I'm coming! I'm here! Please! Hold on!!!"

He'd fought them all, he'd not let her be taken! He reached for her as she reached for him, their hands longing for purchase of the other. The gales and swirls of power, however, pushed them apart as the multicolored energies coalescing on the other side of the door relentlessly sucked her further in as the massive doors slowly closed.

He got closer and closer, but as his fingers brushed hers, a burst of energy knocked him back and she was sucked in, the doors slamming shut with a sound of finality eternal. The gales died down and the light faded, speckles of it dancing before his eyes. He slammed his fists against the doors, raging at it like a bull gone mad. He slammed again and again, blows so powerful it could be heard and felt for miles. His fists were bleeding, but the doors showed no signs of giving, or that he had done anything. He fell to his knees in sorrow as tears streamed his face, blood pooling around his battered hands.

"My love..." he said in a hoarse whisper.

He sat there in quiet for moments that seemed to drag onto eternity before his fists slammed the ground and a roar of feral hatred for all things filled the air for miles around him. "You shall not take her from me! Do you hear me?! You shall not take her! I will destroy everything! I will end all worlds until I have her back! Do you hear me! Do you hear me!!!

Ravenna is walking in the city. It usually takes a lot to get under her skin, but today Correia was pressing her buttons. She had to get outside into the fresh air, away from the Villanueva house. She looks up and finds herself in the park. She watches some kids playing, while others are walking through. She sits down and watches the families. She suddenly missed her mother. She never knew her father.

For the first time, she wonders if she could live outside of the Villanueva house. To do that she would have to expose that she is a magician. She is not sure if she is ready. It is like Correia told her, now her powers are unknown. When the word gets out though she will be recruited into the military, and that is what she does not want to do.

Unbeknowst to Ravenna she is being watched as well. She is actually being followed since she left the Villanueva property. The science woman smiles as she watches the servant sitting peacefully on the park bench. This simple natural is a delight. Camille was not expecting such a beauty to be the key to bring one of the most powerful magicians to them. Her icy blue eyes gazed into Ravenna's head, unable to figure out what was in there... "What are you hiding?" She says out loud, trying to psych her out as a "conscience".

Ravenna feels the hairs on her neck perk up. She gets the odd feeling that she is being watched. She stands up and turns around slowly looking at the people in the square. Her eyes don’t meet up with anyone’s as she does her sweep. She gathers the simple lunch she had picked up on her way. In a way she is lucky to have Correia. She has always treated Ravenna as an equal, quite rare for a natural. Ravenna considers her a close friend. She glances through the park again. Maybe she needs a vacation, but first she will pick up some of Correia's favorite pastries as an apology. Maybe, just maybe she will catch Correia at a weak point and get her to authorize a vacation.

Since the battle at the museum, Kenora realized that she cannot depend in her abilities alone. If she intends on being outside the haven, she will need to at least learn to defend herself. So after work, she spends time in the training room working on both her powers and a little bit of self-defense. She has not asked Trent outright for assistance. She knows he is busy with the new people. She convinced Vincent to come to the Haven. Thankfully he still had the card of the person who attempted to recruit him. Finley is not staying at the Haven yet. He is going in between Harvest city and his Grandmother. Kenora is too busy to miss him.

St. George’s Bookstore will be reopening in a couple of days. They are having a week long event. Gabriel Knight and her parents will be down the first couple of days. There is also a comic book signing, children’s story times, and even a table top gaming session. That ought to be a fun night.

She enters the Haven, exhausted from work. She waves at Trent. She goes to her room and quickly changes before heading to the training room. “Hello computer, let’s pick up where we left off. However, I wonder if there are any weapons I should be training on as well. The weapon should be somewhat concealable, I don’t want to scare off customers.”

Beyond Space and Time RP Empty Re: Beyond Space and Time RP

The harsh neon lighting and the smoggy atmosphere of Eden's seedy understreets made it easy for someone to get lost, easy for someone to stay hidden; beneath the densely crowded current of aliens and strangely garbed newcomers. If one had the right wits, the right cunning, and the right amount of money, it was easy for one to stay out of sight, and out of mind.

Or at least think they were.

'Statistical probability of critical mission failure is-'

"Sssh." The tutting whisper was barely a tickle on Hypatia's lips as she hung by her foot, upside down, amidst and above the multi-level streets of Eden't red light district.

No, that was incorrect. For now, she wasn't Hypatia- in this moment, she was 'The Operator'.

Her cloaking tech allowed her to remain invisible, dangling upside down, her target in her scope. His name was Vance D'Argyll, a high ranking official within Eden's separately controlled police force. That was the nice word for it, any way. In reality this police force was little more than a glorified gang; with the beaurocrats tasked with keeping them in line too busy with their petty squabbles to actually reign them in.

But vigilante justice wasn't why The Operator was tracking him down. No, the hefty sum she'd been offered had been a significant incentive when it came to popping this guy. He thought he was hidden, hood, cloak, whole nine yards. But her eyes, and her modded Galen-I, didn't lie. This was her man. This was Vance.

She tapped her finger against the cold metal exterior of her sniper rifle as she watched him duck into a rather vibrant building. The exterior read 'The Velvet Room' in bright, red, sleazy lettering.

'So either a strip club, or a dance club.' She thought to herself, removing eye from her scope. No matter what it was, now she was going to have to go inside. She could track him through walls, sure, but she didn't have any bullets strong enough to pierce the harsh, metal exteriors of the buildings here.

Unless-

She tugged on the zipline holding her aloft above the streets, and it quickly detached itself, sending her into a free fell as the metallic line retracted into her boot. She righted herself in the air, feet now facing the ground. Her cloaking tech disabled as her feet hit the ground, with a characteristic grace expected of an assassin. She'd been tracking him for hours; and didn't have that much juice left for more than fifteen minutes of cloaking. She couldn't let him see her; then he'd get spooked and bolt, so she'd have to ration it out. She shifted her gaze; seeing all the people pretending not to notice her. She couldn't blame them; freelancers were allowed to act above the law, and they killed people. For money. A Lot, of money. Generally speaking they weren't the kind of people you invited over for a drink, or Sunday brunch. She'd learned to stop caring, for the most part.

As she made her way to the club, she fell in with the crowd, expertly maneuvering through Eden's foot traffic to get to her easily missable destination.

'Now, Vance, what brings an upstanding gentleman like you to a place like this.' She thought to herself, stepping inside the club, immersing herself in its tacky, overdramatic decor; it's overbearing wallpaper and its questionably stained plush carpeting- at least, towards the entryway. As she made her way through the beaded entryway, it turned into an organza of rich neon paneling, pulsating with the rhythm of the music. Overhead, a domed atrium of glass was transformed into a flashing disco ball, illuminating the faces of the patrons in prismatic color. After scanning the flashing, delerious faces of the reveling patrons, she spotted him, towards the back; in black garbed company; one of whom was tall, and unnaturally slender. An Altus.

'Please tell me that that's not the Altus I think it is.' She groaned to herself.

'The statistical probability of that being The Glory is-' There was Orion again, with his stupid percentages.

'Ssshh!' Barely a whisper, but damn it was a harsh one.

She focused once again on her target, chatting casually with the Altus, who seemed rather disinteresting, but continued to humor him.

All she'd have to do is sneak up to him, finish the job, and make a speedy exit. All while hoping The Glory wasn't intent on playing bodyguard.

She exhaled, softly, as her cloaking tech reactivated; turning her into a dancefloor specter. She needed to make these fifteen minutes count; get in, and get out. She weaved between drunken revelers, over excited dancers, and underpaid wait staff carting glowing drinks across the neon dancefloor. A few fingertips breezed through her hair, and she was almost amused at the shocked faces of the culprits, most likely debating their own sanity and sobriety. As the flashing lights of the club flickered on and off, strobing and creating an almost hallucinatory experience as she grew closer to Vance; she could swear she saw The Glory staring straight at her.

That was impossible. She was invisible- and she'd put out good money to make sure her cloaking tech was the best of the best. Another strobing flash, and she could tell that Glory wasn't looking at her. Perhaps, she thought, it had just been a trick of the light.

As she drew closer she pulled out her pistol, keeping it tucked neatly at her side, careful not to prod anyone with it.

She was now close enough to smell his overpriced, cologne, laid on almost as thick as the schmooze work he was trying to pull with The Glory. The Operator held her breath, silently raising her pistol to his neck just so-

She felt someones grip on her wrist; and before she could even react, she was flying through the air.

Her cloaking disintegrated as she crashed through the glass table of the club- and as she quickly righted herself, springing to her feet, she could see the Glory hunched over, like a predator stalking its pray.

"Surprised to see you hear, Glory. Didn't think you got out much." She quipped, dusting herself off, retaining her firm grip on her gun.

"I could say the same about you, Operator." They growled her name, the 'r's becoming drawn out sneers. She knew her and Glory had never had the best working relationship- but shit.

"Gotta ask you something though, Glory." She tried to defuse the animosity, and looked behind the Altus, at Vance, who was currently in a state of shock, cowering behind Glory. The Altus, in turn, merely quirked their head in response. "How'd you spot me? My tech's top of the line, and last I checked your eyes aren't better than a Kranit's."

They let out a low cackle. "Didn't daddy dear teach you that before he got chucked in the slammer, sweet Ti? The Altus have telepathic abilities which meant the moment you walked in, I could feel your presence on my brain like nails."

She'd brought her dad into it- screw being nice.

The Operator let out a laugh of her own, standing up straight and rolling the barrel of her gun with lazy amusement. "See, that's surprising Glory. Never took you for a creature of smarts. Figured most of what was behind that big forehead of yours was hot air." Glory's intelligence was something they'd always been sensitive about, and she could see the Altus' eyes flare up.

"Bitch-" They hissed as they lunged for her, long, gangly arms missing their mark as they were cracked across the forehead with The Operator's pistol. Still, Glory attempted to grapple onto her, both of them tucking, weaving and swiping at the other. Thanks to her cybernetics, it was easy for her to throw down with the larger Altus. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted Vance, trying to make his way around them to escape.

'Oh no you don't-'

She drew her crossbow with her free hand, slamming her pistol into Glory's throat, staggering her for a moment. She lunged at the man, pressing her crossbow to the mans chest, and pressing a button. The man cringed, and The Operator was quickly torn away from her target by an increasingly furious Altus. He blinked, looking down at his chest, and gave a laugh, looking smugly at the two fighting freelancers as his other 'security guards' entered the scene, guns drawn.

At least, before The Operator knocked his Altus bodyguard through a glowing aquarium. Then he paled once more.

The young woman scanned the room, surveying her environment after putting Glory through a glass wall. The fight had spilled out onto the dance floor- and now she was a lone, illuminated target on the glowing floor, with about ten guns trained on her, and a very angry telepath trying to crawl out of a fish tank.

'Shit,' She thought, trying to look for an exit strategy. Exits were covered, no way she'd be able to outmaneuver ten guns in this crowded ass room. But the dome- She looked up at the glowing dome, fighting the smile that threatened to come to her face.

"Well, gentleman, and Altus- as lovely as this ordeal has been, I'm afraid I'll have to cut out early." She could feel the apprehension through their helmets. She gave a small, twiddling wave, as the last few seconds of her cloaking tech activated, and she pulled herself via zipline through the glowing dome roof.

-

Sure enough, they were still on her, and The Operator didn't have enough any juice in her cloaking device left. She wasn't fond of wild goose chases- but here she was, starring as the goose. Dammit.  She had been ziplining through Low Town for about ten minutes now-

When she saw an almost unnecessarily large, armored figure, in a red oversuit, on a very, very recognizable bike.

The one, The only, The Stalk. The Vorn with the plan, who had just as much of a shitty dynamic with The Glory. She pulled dislodged her zipline, mid swing, and aimed herself to land perfectly on the back of his bike. His large, diamond shaped mask quickly encompassed with strips of neon question marks.

"Hey, Stalky, mind giving your best pal a ride?" She wrapped her arms around his large, armored abdomen before he could even turn around fully.

"Ah! Operator! My friend! Just the woman I was looking for!" His accent was thick, almost overdramatic. He was a Vorn who had taken 'The Most Dangerous Game' way too much to heart.

"Aww, Stalky were you worried about me?" She grinned, looking up at him with beaming, impish eyes.

"But of course! The Deacon sent me a message saying you were going after some Eden official, and that I should join in on the fun as a getaway driver! Oh, I do ever so love chases! Like a good old fashioned hunt!" His boisterous demeanor was unflappable, as always.

"Yes, do you enjoy it so much when you're the one being hunted?"

"When it is for a friend, I enjoy anything!" As he spoke, she saw Eden police ships twisting out onto the street.

"Well, let's get this show on the road then because I doubt they're keen on waiting for our touching reunION-" Before she'd even had a chance to finish, The Stalk had urged his bike to a breakneck speed, flying between, under, and over other vehicles in an effort to evade her pursuers. Tragically, a purple haired cyborg, an eight foot tall Vorn, and a ridiculously armored bike attracted a fair amount of attention even in Eden's eclectic streets streets. "One coming up on top!" She shouted, firing off rounds from her revolver, landing shots on the ships behind them.

"No need to worry, my dear!" He pushed a button, and two wing like extremities popped out of the bikes sides. And they held guns. Really, really big guns. The Stalk pulled one out, pointing it at the ship coming up above them. One round was all it took, the canon like blast pierced clear through the hull and sent it crashing into the ships behind them.

"Nice o-Shit!" A bullet grazed her leg, halted entirely on its path by The Stalk's armor. "And now they're shooting at us- Fantastic."

The Stalk pressed yet another button, and plates of pitch black armoring created a cone like fan behind her. Which, while protecting her, created additional drag that didn't really help their efficiency in evading Eden's police force.

"Bank right!" She shouted over the noise of the bullets rattling against the bikes armor. The Stalk did as he was told; taking a hard right-

Directly into a massive blockade. The massive police flagship. Probably headed by-

"Say, do you suppose it's that Vance, fellow?" The Stalk shouted back at her. She activated her visor, and could see the probe she had planted on him in the ships cockpit.

"Oh yeah, definitely him- We need to go around!" She shouted, noting that Stalk hadn't slowed his speed at all.

"You may be content to go around, darling. Yet I am a Vorn who likes to charge through!" She could hear the wicked grin in his voice as they neared the ships hull.

She grinned back, aiming her zipline at the top of the ship. "See you on the other side?"

"But of course!" And with that, she pulled herself to the top of the ship, just as The Stalk's bike fully armored itself at charged through the motherships armored hull. She sprinted across the top of the ship, taking note of the massive explosions below- She aimed towards the head of the ship with her crossbow, quickly firing as she reached the middle.

'How's that saying go? A true captain goes down with his ship? Not that Vance has much of a say, here.'

From the collision course beneath her, The Operator was pretty sure The Stalk was reaching the end of his cross-ship joy ride- and picked up her pace for one, last, big leap of faith. Sure enough, after she flung herself off the edge, there he was, fully armored, and about forty feet beneath her. The now scorched armor paneling gradually slid back, enabling her to land on the cushy seating, rather than smoldering metal. Soon after landing she caught her now bloodied bold- returning happily with its now useless and impaled probe.

"So-" She said merrily, clamping back onto her driver as the ship sank to ruin behind him. "Ship's wrecked, Vance is no more, and I'm about eighty thousand credits richer. What's next, o' dutiful getaway driver?"

"Well-" The Stalk started, his mask, for once, unadorned with neon words or punctuation. ", when The Deacon contacted me- it wasn't just to rescue you on my shining motorbike. He also said he had news about your father."

Beeping.  Buzzing.  No.  It's not buzzing.  It's a stampede.  No, that's not right.  What is that sound?  Joie's senses come into focus, her face scrunching up as she slowly regains her consciousness.  She jerks--she's falling.  It hits her--the memory, not the ground.  She's falling and her eyes jerk open as the beeping continues, alerting her of the oncoming impact.  Fear rises up and her breathing quickens as she realizes that Galen is speaking to her in her mind and she blinks, her fingers and legs suddenly flailing as the panic takes over.

Galen says, "Your jet pack has been repaired by 83%, Joie.  There is no cause for concern."

"What?!"  Joie cries out, "It's broken?!  I gotta slow this fall, Galen!  Fix it!"

Galen replies in his usual monotone, "As usual, demanding the obvious needed solution that is already in progress while stating the obvious purpose of its necessity will not quicken the process.  Additionally, it will not calm your nerves."

"Shut up!" Joie exclaims, "Is it fixed?!"

"Your jet pack is repaired by 99% and your current altitude leaves plenty of time for slowed bursts.  I have repaired your helmet, but please keep an eye out for face-plate integrity during your descent."

"Fuck," Joie immediately begins to use timed bursts of her jet pack to slow her descent, which is not only disorienting, but very difficult to do.  She almost flips completely several times, but Galen assists her with it for the most part.  As she gets closer and closer to the planet's surface, she gets angrier and angrier.  She wants to be home.  She wants to be back on base doing what she does best within the law and instead, she's out here with space scum because they lied to her.  Her anger doesn't stay, though.  Galen never lets her stay angry.

The landing isn't great.  There's a lot of rolling, stumbling and landing into things--rocks, trees, and other such joys that she wishes she didn't have discover so personally and bluntly with such close proximity on her body.  With groans, she stands up slowly, injured and tired as she looks around, analyzing her surroundings and listening to her environment carefully as she pulls out her hover disc and puts it together, sliding out the disc and adding the thruster at its base to go for a quick ride as she begins to scout and track for those that crashed with her.

It doesn't take her long to find several of the other pirates, but she doesn't help them much.  She just tells them where to meet up before leaving them behind to find another place--to find the one in charge.  The anger builds up in her and she can feel Galen ready to calm her but she tells him in her mind to leave it.  He warns her not to, but she tells him to leave it again.  Galen does as he is told.   And the anger grows.   Yet, it will be okay, because Joie isn't going to let her anger get the better of her.   At least...not too much.

When she finally finds the piece of Rishaar Shit that brought them here, he's already with the others--go figure.  Waiting for her.  She halts the hover disc, putting it away properly in her suit and checking her breathing within hr suit before she calmly steps up to the group around their cute, little camp fire on the small hill and asks them quietly "Where's your back up?  You do have...a ride home, yes?  A way back to Rynara?"

The greasy-haired, yellow-skinned man with a single good eye looks at her and smirks.  His other eye, white and barely open with the scar so clearly visible over the damaged thing, would be looking at her if it could.  To most, it would unnerve them, but Joie just doesn't care.  Probably because she actually knows how he lost the eye--it's no warrior's wound.  Nothing to be proud of, no story of great feat or pride.  Just a fluke that this runt of a rike happened to survive.  It was nothing to her, so she sneered back at him as he spoke,
"Sweetheart, that's what you're for.  Why do you think we brought you for?  Insurance."

Joie is confused, "What?

Laughter from the others, but Galen is already speaking to her in her mind, "You're no longer in active service of the Armada, but you're also still valuable and a draftee.  Therefore, the tracker is active and they could use your distress beacon to recall for help as a way home."

Joie laughs aloud with them and others fall silent.  She laughs again, against the awkward silence.  This time, she really is amused.  Then, she says, "Galen, call M."

"I thought you would ask.  It is already on its way.  Would you like me to prepare for lift off?"

"Yes."  Joie says, "Well, boys, I'm off.  I've got a mech to get me home, but don't worry--I'll send a guy or two our to pick you up at some point."

The guys are already pulling out guns and pointing them her way but her gun's already out and it is pointed at his dead eye.  Her gaze is empty, but finally she allows Galen to calm her so that she she won't say anything out of spite.  Instead, she just speaks with a deadly calm as she says, "No.  You brought me here--you lied to me.  This was supposed to be an easy take, with free licenses...but this place is illegal and your ship set off the perimeter bands and that's why we crashed.  You are the reason why your men will be stranded on this shit place for a few days while you wait for a ride home.  No one else.  Take responsibility for your actions, Baerdan."

She is surrounded, but it doesn't matter.  M is landing--her beautiful ride home and they know that if they try anything, it'll fire upon them with Galen's command.  With a small smile, she wishes them each a few fine days and takes her leave.  Good riddance.  And yet...now, that's no pay.  Another botched job and another week without rent.  She's going to have to find a way to get a job, soon, or she's going to be shit out of luck when she needs food.  Or to re-fuel.

"She's coming! Stop her!"

"Too strong! Too strong!"

"Fools! Guard it with your lives! She must not reach it! She must not--Agh!"

They lay dead at her feet and she judged their souls: damned, the lot of them. She absorbed their souls into her gauntlet. They'd be of use in their death.

"Malice, sweep the corridors," she ordered. "Eliminate anything you find."

The Archer Legion spread out and went down the different cavern entrances. There was the sound of screeching from each of the corridors as she heard them unleash their relentless barrage of crossbow quarrels. She felt the essences dissipate. Monsters, then.

The Archers returned swiftly. "Dead ends," they all said as one.

She nodded and dismissed them, feeling her full strength return. She sped forward down the only cavern left. It, too, stopped in a wall. She looked up to see the cavern opened up. She bent her legs and took a leap, jumping higher than any three humans could've hoped to achieve. A burst of power and she leapt again, though only half the height of her first leap. At its crest she plunged her gauntleted hand into the rock face, the rock giving way to her iron grip. Quickly, she stabbed her other hand in and began scaling up the wall with rapidity.

At its height, she pulled herself up and onto the ledge. She surveyed the area. Ruins. By the markings on the wall, one of the ancient places long since forgotten, and in the center...

Her eyes locked onto it immediately: another shard of the Glyph of the Ultimate Legion. She started to beeline for it when she caught herself. Haste got you killed if you weren't careful. She surveyed the area again, but sensed nothing. All the same, she took cautious steps as opposed to the hasty ones she almost led with.

She stood before the pedestal, having come to no harm. The shard stood there, ripe for the picking. Hesitation is getting me nowhere. Come what may!

She snatched the shard and slapped it to her gauntlet, where it merged with the others. Suddenly, there was the sound of applause. She looked to the sky to see--

"Issachar!" she growled.

"Well done, my lovely Judge of Souls," said the man. He wore fine cut cloth with a holy cape that hung loosely from his broad shoulders. His red eyes looked down upon her with mirth. "Such anger you look at me with."

"You can say that for all that you've done?"

"I have merely liberated the masses from their ignorance," he said simply. "Let only those fit to live survive the Great Purging." He looked down at her. "And we can't have you interfering, now can we...?"

He snapped his fingers and lightning crashed down all around her. Hordes upon hordes of monsters stood around her.

"Hide behind your monsters!" she roared. "I will still come for you!"

"And I'll be waiting," he said, disappearing.

She looked around at the horrendous swarm prepared to do her harm and held up her gauntleted hand. "Guilt!"

Six beings of humanoid shape appeared, their legs stopping at the knees with flames in the shape of the bottom half of their legs. They immediately spread out around her. Her countenance went grim.

"Attack!" she roared as she pulled out her blade and charged ahead.

Ravenna picks up the sweets. How Correia can eat so much and not gain any weight is beyond her. She cannot drop the feeling that she is being watched. She wants more than anything to take off her hat and search, but she does not want to expose her powers. She was lucky in the square because of crowd, but now it is just her.

Once inside the house Correia practically leaps on her. “Ravvvviiie, I missed you so much. Please don't be mad, I don't like it when you we fight.”

Ravenna keeps her grip on the bag as Correia practically crushes her. “It is alright Correia, I just needed some time away. I should be the one asking for your forgiveness.” She holds up the bag from the bakery.

Correia's eyes grew to saucers upon seeing the bag. “Ohh Ravie thank you so much!!”

Ravenna can smell the aroma of dinner being prepared. “I should help Alyx.”

“Nonsense, you need to practice your magic and help me with these delicious treats you got me. Then we can go out on patrol later.” Correia pulls Ravenna toward her room.

Ravenna sighs and allows herself to be taken to the room. She cannot help but smile at her infectious attitude. How on earth is she going to tell Correia about the vacation she desires?

The computer tells her that a weapon is possible and gave her the name of the person able to assist with it.  They start the training.  In an odd way it helps Kenora to relax.  The museum taught her that she was not strong enough to do other missions.  That she needs to be aware at all times too.

After training was done, she takes a quick shower.  Then her phone rings.

Hi Mom, what is up?

We just got an invite from Gabriel about your new bookstore, something about a grand reopening.  Why must we always have to hear about these things secondhand?

Sorry about that Mom, as you can imagine it’s been a madhouse here.  Plus I didn’t want the ‘you should go to college’ lecture again.

There is no need for the sass.  We worry about you and know you are meant for more…

Mom, stop please.  College will always be there.  For now I am happy right where I am.  Let me arrange your stay, but I warn you I am going to be busy.

We already have a hotel room and I wanted to invite you and Gabriel to dinner one of the nights.  It’s been too long since we have seen him.  He’s been on tour with his new book.  I heard the studios have been clamoring for the movie rights already.

I haven’t heard about the movie rights. That is great.  So I will see you both for the opening?  I cannot wait to see you, really.  Oh and Ashley sends her love too.  She is busy with classes again.

I cannot wait either, both of you please behave.  There is too much stuff going on in Harvest City and I want you to be safe.  Well take care and have a good night.

Good night Mom, I promise to keep in touch.

She smiles at her phone and heads down to the lounge of the hotel.  She needs something to relax her before the store opening.  She is excited about seeing Gabriel.  She does not know how he pulled this all off.  She is so excited and scared.  She only hopes that nothing happens before then.  She has been too busy training and with the store to talk to Elrich or Trent except in passing.

Beyond Space and Time RP Empty Re: Beyond Space and Time RP

Post by JulietHasAGun 29th August 2017, 8:53 pm

The house, or rather, domain of The Stalk; was about what you'd expect from someone who gave themselves the name of- 'The Stalk'. It looked straight out of a classic novel- where a gentlemanly adventurer goes on to tame the wilds.

The walls were papered in a red brocade pattern; and he'd spent money on ornate woodwork- a commodity that had faded from style hundreds of years before she was born. On the walls were hung 'trophies'- things she found rather vulgar, but The Stalk insisted they were art. The mounted heads and horns of intergalactic beasts, things he hunted for fun instead of sentient aliens with bounties on their heads. Some looked harmless, though Stalk assured her- they were the most dangerous of them all- whereas some looked terrifying.

'Imagine one of those charging at you and 90MPH, and you armed only with a sidearm.' Stalk had told her once, pointing to a particularly mammoth creation. She'd shuddered.

There was a large, ornate fireplace- with real fire, not a hologram. Real fire, giving off actual heat. Plush carpets and cushy seating adorned the room- with bookshelves chock full of stock she doubted the Vorn had actually ever read. He didn't seem the type for cookbooks- as she knew Vorn seldom ate, unless in the company of those that did.

Hypatia, herself, was reclined comfortably across a rather posh sofa, fur blanket draped across her legs- in pajamas she was sure The Stalk had paid too much for. If The Will was her father, The Stalk fit some description of an overdramatic uncle. He looked out for her; and made sure she knew the door to his abode was always open to her.

'How can you stay in that cramped ship, my friend!' He often bellowed. 'I have room! Plenty of rooms! You would not impose! Not in the slightest! It gets terribly lonely out here, after all!'

She preferred the cramped quarters of her ship- all this stationary space, rooms to hide- it made her nervous.

She was tapping away on her holo-pad, it's glowing screen showing all the news articles talking about Vance's death at the hand of a 'Freelancer', as her Cloaking Device charged in the corner of the room. Stalk's LED helmet was resting on the coffee table in front of her; it's usually illuminated surface black and still. She could hear Stalk's footsteps descending upon the parlor, and the jingling of a tray- god that man never learned to walk quietly.

"Tia! I am sure you haven't outgrown your love of hot chocolate, hm?" 'Tia', a nickname- Stalk was fond of those. The wafting smell of chocolate almost made her salivate. Wherever Stalk got this shit from, she needed the name of his dealer- but whenever she asked he always went 'But if I tell you you'll never come by and see me!' which made her sad enough to let him keep his secret.

She sat up, grin on her face, putting her holo-pad to the side. "Course not, Stalky. I'm getting older; but shit, hot chocolate is the universal good." He cautiously set the tray down next to his mask, allowing her to take her cup. He took a seat in his big, fancy chair, and kicked his feet up on his equally as plush footrest, taking his own glass. Despite all their years of knowing each other, The Stalk still put on his 'flesh face' to talk to her. He said appearing without it made him feel naked; weirdo. It was an older gentleman, with a beard, and longer, coifed back, grey hair. Which, she supposed, fit his voice.

The two sipped their hot chocolates in relative silence as the two savored the rich flavor- Stalk insisted that he had taste buds, but he might be saying that because otherwise he'd feel awkward.

"So," She broke the silence, sitting with her legs crossed underneath her. "You said The Deacon had news about my dad?"

"Ah, yes!" Stalk set his mug down, lurching himself to his feet as he plodded over to the fireplace, typing something in to the monitor which rested atop it. "He told me to pass a message onto you- Password protected! Though he er...did not tell me what the password was." The last words sounded surprisingly sheepish. She stared at the red screen that had a large, pixelated lock behind the passcode bar.

Hypatia looked at it blankly, taking one, long sip of her hot chocolate. "Try 'buttface'."

"Tia-" The Vorn sounded almost offended.

"Try it." She responded resolutely. He sighed, punched it it; and saw the lock undo itself.

She laughed as the Vorn gave another, deeper sigh, and returned to his seat as a vid began to play.

There sat The Deacon- or at least the digital projection he chose to represent as himself. It was black, faceless- void-like.

"Hello, Opi. As I'm sure Stalk already told you," Fuck she hated when he called her that. "I've got some news on your father. The person 'funding' his incarceration has sadly come up short on a few....key payments. Now- this doesn't mean they'll let him go for free. But it means we have an opening. You, have an opening. Meet me at our usual specified location to discuss the details. A sense of...urgency, would be appreciated. The coordinates have already been put into your ships navigation system." He gave a lazy wave of his fingers. "Ciao."

The video cut; and about a dozen frantic signs of 'Date Corrupted' flashed across the screen.

"Ugh," She muttered, taking another sip of her drink. "I hate that asshole."

--

"Are you sure this is the right place?" The Stalk asked, nervously looking around the pitch black halls of the seemingly dead and derelict ship, shining over the ruins with the lights of his helmet.

"Yes, Stalky." She'd been here many times before. Her and The Deacon had an extended working relationship.

"Are you sure I'm also invited?"

"Yes, Stalky." He damn well better be, at least.

"Are you s-"

"Listen, Stalk. Deacon and I are friends....kind of, you've got nothing to worry about from him. And if you do? I'll take care of it." She reached up, slapping her hand on his shoulder. She felt him relax under his helped, under her touch.

"Yes, yes you're right. I apologize for my pussy footing, my friend." He continued to trail after her, down the narrowing, dark corridors, as they approached their usual meeting place.

The derelict doors slid open; leading them into a pitch black room. A dead end. Well, it wouldn't be pitch black for much longer.

About 3, 2...

The bright, white lights clicked on.

1..

The lighting was harsh, surgical; it shined off the leathery texture of The Stalk's red oversuit.

"Welcome, Opi...and...Stalk." The Deacon's smooth, projected voice fell as he realized the Vorn was there.

"I told you I wasn't invited!" She could hear The Stalk's harsh whisper behind her, she waved him off, patting him back into place behind her.

"Thought we could use an extra set of hands; breaking into a high security prison and all." She looked up to where she knew the camera was, furrowing her eyebrows as if to say 'be nice'.

"Well, the more the merrier, I suppose. Sadly, Stalk, you're going to have to wait outside for a moment. I have no idea how the field I've set up responds to Vorn bodies." The doors to what seemed to be a small, airtight room uncloaked, as they usually did- and opened with a hiss, and she could feel The Stalk staring at her. She could hear what he was thinking. 'Is this safe?'

She looked back at him. "It's fine, been through this rodeo before. Simple security field; make sure I'm not wearing a wire." It was a lie, a white one- but a lie.

The Vorn nodded. "Then that is fine by me. I shall await you out here....alone." She gave him a reassuring pat on the arm, watching as he leaned awkwardly against the now sealed doors they had come through- before walking into the small room; hearing the doors hiss shut behind her.

It was a decontamination field- state of the art. No expense spared- of course, for The Deacon, it was a matter of life and death. She felt the cooling waves mist over her body, closing her eyes and the rays of light hit her, over, and over, and over.

"Decontamination Complete. Please proceed." A cybernetic voice said pleasantly; opening the doors before her, prompting her to open her eyes.

She could see The Deacon waiting for her- all seven Rynarion feet of him. His pale skin and red hair made him seem eerie in the harsh white light.

The Deacon was regarded as an enigma- a ghost on the extranet lines. He was hard to call on, harder to get any assistance from, and impossible to trace. But damn- he did his job well. His work as a freelancer wasn't as cut and dry as her and Stalks were. He hunted down people that didn't want to be found; he found evidence, vids, emails that had been deleted- cold hard proof that could be used to take down the galaxy's most infallible.

He was a genius- which was good for him, because his body was shot to hell.

The Deacon had been born under the name 'Caydeicus Reeve'. He had been an orphan, like her, back on the 'homeworld'. Only unlike her; he hadn't been so lucky to have been adopted. He served with distinction for a few years- earning himself his own Galen-I. A thing she had to pay near millions of credits for. He never specified to her how or why he left- just that he had left, and now his name, for as far as the galaxy wanted to know was simply 'The Deacon'.

He'd had his Galen-I removed; a slow, painful process- agonizing, he'd told her the pain of it had been beyond words. But after all was said and done, he'd been left with the immune system of an infant. Worse, even. He lived in his scrubbed down, cleaned out cloaked derelict ship, sitting behind a bunch of computer screens all day- and whenever he allowed someone to visit him, they had to go through the disinfection works.

Few people were allowed to visit him.

"Well if it isn't my favorite cyborg!" He said happily, opening his arms; the four fingers on each of his hands extending as he approached.

"If it isn't my favorite pain in the ass." She gave him a wry smirk that he readily returned, dropping his arms. "What have you got for me, Deeks?"

He help up his index finger, turning to one of the monitors that covered the room. He placed his finger on it; typing in something too quick for her to really see- which was, frankly, impressive, given her augmentations. The screens throughout the room were now covered in...emails? Correspondences between an anonymous official and someone named 'Vaxis Messari'.

"Messari, the warden of Purgatory- she's been getting shorted on her payments for the last few months. They were enough to keep Messari from parting with The Will. But....even though she won't just give him up- she could be implored to trade." He slowly turned back to her, smile still on his face.

"Trade?" She raised an eyebrow.

He flicked his finger across the screen. Photos of a crime scene- a lot of collateral damage, twisted metal, scorch marks-

"This is Stalk's work." She said, looking at Deacon. He nodded.

"Perceptive," He turned to face her. "Couple months back Messari's friend, big guy in the defense systems market- His brother got snuffed. By your lovely Vorn friend. Say he was getting into all sorts of illegal dealings- got turned on by his wife, maybe his kid. Didn't dig too far into it. Didn't care. Point is, I think if you were to come in with Stalk and offer a trade-"

"I'm not turning in my friend." He'd gotten her all excited; she'd felt her heart clench in her chest at the of seeing her dad again- The Will. William. But for her? Dad. Just dad. But she wasn't about to betray The Stalk; no way, no how. She'd get the money and pay the bastards off.

"Oh, you misunderstand," He held both his hands up placatingly at the harshness of her tone. "I just said 'walk in with him and offer a trade' not actually do any trading. If you come in there with Stalk, all nice and subdued, trussed up and the like- offer to trade him for your dad- there's no way they could refuse. But- demand to see your father first. I'll equip a tacker to your.." His face soured. "Galen-I."

"Orion." She corrected him.

"Orion. And you'll say a very special phrase when you're there. You'd have to put one of my little probes on a console on the inside for this to work- their systems are damn near inaccessible from the outside- because they set off alarms. I could get in from the outside, but it would set the entire place into lockdown. Now, I don't have any doubts about how good you and Stalk are at wrecking things and getting out of jams- but breaking out of a high tech freelance prison for the most wanted thugs in the galaxy is a lot different than evading the cops. Dig?"

"So we wouldn't be turning Stalk in, right?"

"Oh, absolutely not. But he's your big, cuddly vorn pal who I'm sure is more than happy to help you break your dad out of Purgatory." Deacon grinned.

"Well, we'll have to ask him. I won't blame him if he doesn't want to." 'Okay, I might. Kind of. A little. But I'll get over it.'

-

Before Hypatia could even finish the question, they had their answer.

"I'll do it."

Beyond Space and Time RP Empty Re: Beyond Space and Time RP

It was almost as if nothing existed. There was the wind, of course, moving tiny particles of sand across the desert plains. The slow, melodic whooshing of the wind was the only thing filling this empty expanse. A gloved hand touched the gritty flecks that covered the ground.  It was almost if you were touching the hot coals of a warm fire.  The lone figure traced the fading print in the ground that was already being erased from the land.  Soon the creature responsible would share the same fate as its footprint. The cloaked figure stood up and walk to his Amaxo, a tall four-legged creature that were commonly used for transportation outside Concara.  He brushed his hand across the scales that covered his humble companion.  "We are almost done, Balius."

The quiet creature waited as the cloaked figure climbed on to his back, and they continued on their way.   All that remained was the prints they had left behind, and in time, this too would pass.  It truly was as if nothing had existed all along.

Beyond Space and Time RP Empty Re: Beyond Space and Time RP

[ATTN:  Closed]

Joie is in the atmosphere, orbiting planet OZ-95 with a close eye as she turns in a report of the illegal entry and the destruction of the perimeter band on the south quadrant.  She shifts to the other side of the planet, which takes about a half-hour to do.  Upon the other side, she releases another probe.  They came here in search of a rare element and if it's here, she's going to snag it before these pirates do.

If it had been a legal planet, there wouldn't be a problem, but this is against the law.  As such, she cannot let the elements fall into their hands.  It belongs to the government.  It belongs to the Armada.  Ironic that they tried to hire one of them to steal from themselves.  Ironic, perhaps, but not at all unintentional.  Baerdon has a really ridiculous sense of humor, but it backfired and now he's going to be stranded for a little while before she decides to send them a rescue out of spite.

"Iteraphosphore Ore has been detected."

"I-Phos Ore," Joie says, as if it is a correction.

The holographic mapping of the planet appears before her and it zooms in on one of the southern mapping zones about four times before placing an indicator of the mining area's location.  With a small smile, she marks the spot as a destination and Galen-M begins to shift back towards the planet for landing.

Leaning back in her seat within the Mech, she sighs with contentment, happy to steal back what belongs to the Armada.  Many of the military are sent off as bodyguards to protect the miners that work in places like these, but Joie never got such boring jobs, thanks to her scout expertise and lack of social abilities.  The Armada miners weren't military trained, though Joie thinks that they should have been.

Miners had lives, though.  Families.  They worked in varies seasons so that they could see their families for a good amount of time before they had to head out to collect more for the civilization that they lived in.  Most Armada folks don't get that luxury.  She supposes being unable to defend oneself is a small price to pay if you want a family.

"I have a full set of perimeter bands prepared for removal.  Would you like a full lock-down kit?" Galen is using his holographic interface from her suit, though it isn't necessary.  Perhaps it is because he likes to be seen, rather than just heard all of the time.

"Yes.  They have weapons and they are going to try to get through.  Let's make sure that they can't."   Joie replies, "Did you flag the probe site so that it would indicate the Miners Corp?"

Galen says, "I can confirm that all of the standard procedures have been followed.  Your statements have also been sent in to the necessary departments."

"Thanks," Joie says.  Landing onto the planet takes some time, but when they finally reach their destination, she places Galen M on Guard Mode before taking her leave of the giant thing and dragging out a few pieces to the LD and Perimeter Kits.  This takes a few trips--bringing out parts and placing them outside and then going in for some more.

Then, Joie sets to work, placing up a perimeter band around the entire mining site where the ore was found upon the surface, plus more.  Galen instructs her on how to do this properly and she is careful to listen and obey with precision, including how much space to allow within the circular space.  Eventually, she has about fifty modules placed into the ground in a circle--a perfect circle, thanks to Galen.  He really is precise.

The modules are turned on and a small, holographic band lights up, sealing off the zone for entry with a glowing warning label meant for trespassers.  Then, she gets to work on setting up the generator for the LD kit.  This will set up a full spherical energy field right in line with the perimeter band, preventing anyone from entering via above in the air or from below underground.  Joie has never done anything like this before--which is why it's good that Galen is here.  Otherwise, she'd be screwed, taking hours to look up the proper procedures from a damn Guide Book.  His instructions cut the time it takes to do this in half, easily.  With his assistance, the full procedure takes about four hours to complete, entirely uninterrupted.

"The Lock-down Kit is set up to full specificity and accuracy.  Only the Mining Corp will be able to access the entrance, so we are free to depart and return home."  Galen informs her.

Joie smiles, "Good.  I'm ready.  Let's get out of here."

The light from the star above beamed down intense heat on the land; however, it did not bother Arcadius VII. He grew up on this planet after all. But while his people now enjoyed environments that were far more comfortable in Concara, he found something peaceful in this unforgiving wasteland. Then again, maybe he was simply trying to convince himself that it was more serene. He was, after all, searching for some sort of tranquility or conclusion as he liked to deem it. He had come to terms with his past, and while they haunted him on occasion, they did not control him. Arcadius simply shook his head and chuckled. This would be the point where Nariya would tell him that he was getting old. And she would probably be right; he spent more time reflecting these days.

His hazel-green eyes scanned the land in front of him. A dark cave stood there and the occasionally shriek could be heard from within. It was an eerie noise that made you catch your breath whenever it was heard. The docamire was a large scaled animal with razor sharp claws. Docamires were predators plain and simple; they would attack docile creatures that nomad tribes used for survival. This particular docamire had long since been attacking a small nomad tribe that Arcadius often traded with. He had agreed to kill the docamire for them; he did, however, make sure that he was able to keep some of the razor sharp claws. Docamire claws where highly valued in Concara, and whenever he got his hands on some he would go to the city to trade them. The currency he received from them would allow him to replenish and update some of his supplies and equipment.

Arcadius was awaken from his thoughts by Balius' grunting. Hopping off of Balius, he grabbed the gear he packed. He signaled and whistled towards Balius to make him stay guard outside. Standing in front of the cave, all he could see was darkness. His helmet would accommodate for this soon enough though. Once again, the high-pitch cry emitted from the cave. Taking a deep breath, he readied one of his hilts for energy weapon and swiftly went in.

Ravenna goes to her room with a headache.  It always happens after practicing her magic.  She is thankful to place the beret on her head and goes to her room.  She knows Alyx prepared dinner, but she will get some later.  For now she needs to get rid of the headache.  She lies on her bed proud of what she is able to accomplish.  She is getting stronger every day.

She only intended to close her eyes for a little time, but when she reopened them sun was filtering into the window.  She sits up and gets ready for the day, surprised that Correia did not wake her.  She get up and meets her at the table.  Correia is her bubbly self.  She had a list for Ravenna to go shopping for.  Ravenna takes the list, happy for something to do.  “I have some drills to do with my troops, so I will see both of you later.”

After breakfast Ravenna gathers some bags and heads to the shopping district.  Once again she gets the feeling she is being watched.  Suddenly, Camille jumps out at her.  “Well what do we have here?  A precious little natural on her own.  Why are you so important to Correia?”

Ravenna's eyes widen the woman in front of her is obviously a scientist.  “What do you want with me?  I am just a natural.  I am no one important.”

“You are very important young lady.  More important than you ever know.  Now, I wish you will make this easy, I don't want to cause a scene.”  Camille purrs.

“Stop right there science jerk and leave her alone!!”  A voice comes from behind Ravenna.  She looks over her shoulder and sees Gail, one of Correia's Lieutenants.  “Ravie, run!  I will cover you.”  Gail begins to make her magic orbs.

Before Ravenna could move, she finds her body bound by rings of energy.  “I don't think so.  I won't let a magic idiot get in the way of my plans.”

Gail sends her orbs to the rings that encompass Ravenna.  The result is bright explosions, enough to make her close her eyes.  She feels her body being pulled backward towards the science person.  She struggles against the motion.  She falls on the ground and screams.  “Gail, help!”  She sees one of Gail's orbs flying directly at her, met by an energy shield.  Ravenna closes her eyes and feels her body flying by the impact of energy.

The alarm blares forcing Kenora out of her sleep.  She is still physically tired from the training.  She is getting a better handle of using her powers.  She is getting a better understanding of how it really works.  Oh and her self defense skills are improving too.  She is not ready for Trent by any means.  He is booked by other people too.

That is not the reason her alarm is going this morning though.  This morning is the official reopening of her store.  She is so excited.  She jumps out of bed.  She took a shower last night, knowing that today she will have to look her best.  So she immediately does her makeup and hair.  She set out her outfit yesterday.  One less thing to worry about.

She arrives to the store early to settle her nerves.  *This is no different than any other event.  Does it matter that it is your store now*  She looks around the empty store and sighs.  This is it today is the day and nothing can kill her mood.
