Rising Adventures Empty Rising Adventures

Post by EphPhoenix 20th April 2017, 5:57 pm

Welcome to Rising Adventures! A world much similar to our own. However, recently people with superhuman abilities have begun to appear. It would seem what was science fiction has come to pass! What amazing tales of wonder and adventure shall arise!

This rp will have times when it spans the globe, but for the most part, at least initially, it will center around the fictional city of Maplevale, Kansas. The town's an up-and-coming city that's grown and expanded a lot with the new researches into sustainable energy and other fabulous technology, bringing in a booming economy and acting as a shining beacon for the rest of the US.

This will be more in the style of graphic novels and comic books with heroes and the like that is going to be more chara driven, with stories and tales happening in regards to the people and how they move in the city with mini-arcs and a big central arc. RPers are encouraged to sandbox and make the world theirs--don't be afraid to try something. The worst I may say is that you need to edit this or that. I apologize for the vagueness of the plot, but I will see what my participants are like and go from there. I do have ideas, but like any great tale, they have to be adapted to the charas involved instead of a rigid story. I hope you will join me on this adventure and I look forward to rping with you.

Writing style will be semi-literate paragraph format and the normal rules of GtR apply.

   Name: Jericho Brooks
   Age: 19
   Gender: Male
Species: Human, Mixed Ethnicity (African American, Native American)
Appearance: Black hair, gray eyes, 6'0, 190 lbs, slightly copper brown skin

Personality: Cheerful, at times bouncy, impulsive
   Hobbies: Martial arts, reading, medicine
Combat Skills: An excellent hand-to-hand combatant. However, he has been trained in traditional martial arts weapons of the katana, bo staff, sai, nunchaku, and escrima.
Supernatural Skills: He can tap into his internal energy and use it to do phenomenal things: fly, superhuman strength, durability, speed, stamina, agility, etc. He can channel it into energy blasts of devastating power, and he's still discovering new applications everyday. And he's increasing with power the more he uses it and trains.
Back Story: Jericho comes from a normal home with loving, supportive parents. Though a loner by nature, he's always been well-received by his peers and teachers. He is smart, impulsive, with a joke and a laugh.

Like all boys, he grew up dreaming of what it'd be like to be a hero and wishing he could be superhuman. To that end, in his mid-teens, he began studying martial arts and meditating, hoping to find the "internal energy" within. When he was 18, he succeeded, finding the energy within him and finding out the power it grants. Over half a year has passed since then and he's still trying to figure out this power and how to use it.

   Name:Rebecca Morrison; Alias: Vivacious
   Age:18
   Gender: Female
   Species: Human, Caucasian
Appearance: Normal: Sandy brown hair, pale green eyes, 5'8, 130 lbs; Powered up: Glowing golden hair and eyes.

   Personality: Hyper, relentlessly cheerful, impulsive
Hobbies: Clubbing, track, climbing, parkour enthusiast
Combat Skills: A street fighter and a good one. Untrained until recently when Jericho began training her. She's good with a police baton, having stolen one from a cop on a dare and learned to use it.
Supernatural Skills: She has a golden energy that she can use in a myriad of ways, from energy beam projection to flight. It also grants her enhanced physical attributes and she can see in various electromagnetic spectra.
Back Story: Came from a small home, raised by a single mother. Her mom was always working, so she was very lonely growing up and mostly raised herself. As with any kid with free reign, she ran the streets, getting into trouble and seeking adventure.

This resulted in her breaking into a research facility on a dare. They were experimenting with an experimental energy. She accidentally tripped over the wires and caused a fluctuation in the carefully controlled experiment, causing it to spiral out of control. The room exploded with her in it, but instead of being ripped to bits, the energy merged with her body, becoming part of her.

Like any fun-loving thrill seeker, she went on a wild rampage, doing what she wanted--until she crossed paths with Jericho. A stray car she had sent flying had collapsed a wall that had fallen on and hurt his friend. She threw everything she had at him, but his martial skill surpassed her street fighting, and his own power was able to counter hers. She managed to escape before the authorities arrived--but the beating had brought her to her senses.

She tracked down Jericho by his friend in the hospital. She apologized profusely for what had happened and promised to make amends. Jericho flat out told her to drop dead, but his friend hit him in the head with a bedpan, then forgave her, then told him to do the same. When he refused, she threw a vase at him, and told him that if he couldn't forgive, he'd at least give her a chance to make amends. Jericho, at the risk of having the nurses attack him, had no choice but agree.

It was rocky, at first, but slowly a friendship formed, when she genuinely started using her powers to help others. She has often tried to get Jericho off the sidelines and join the fray, but he stubbornly refuses.

Real Name: Whitney Link
Alias(es): The Valet
Identity Status: Secret
Gender: F
Beginning Age: 22
Birth-Date: July 10
Place of Birth: Skyline City
Occupational Status: Mechanic (Former), Driver
Nationality/Ethnicity: Caucasian/American
Alignment: C/G

Appearance:
Whitney is a tall woman with raven-black hair, green eyes, and a neglect about her personal upkeep. She seldom wears makeup, doesn't put much effort into her attire, and just comes across as someone who doesn't much care how she's perceived. That said, her mechanic and athletic sides keep her rather fit and in-shape. When taking on the persona of The Valet, Whitney's attire becomes that of a black suit with a red tie and domino mask, and a valet hat.

Personality:
Whitney isn’t a people person. She’s only ever gotten along with her family.  She prefers the company of books and machines. When she speaks, she has a tendency to unwittingly get sarcastic without meaning to. She also likes to flaunt her intelligence to those who annoy her with trivial concerns that she doesn’t care about or has grown jaded to. When acting as The Driver, she doesn’t speak often, preferring to let her actions do the talking while her targets cower in fear. Despite her demons (both metaphoric and literal) she is anchored by a moral code that prevents her from directly killing, or chucking every single crook she finds to Gorr.

Likes: Black, cars, sparring, crime dramas, mystery novels and movies, criminal history, cats, driving, bubblegum
Dislikes: Bright light, Criminals, Social situations
Values: Vengeance, Freedom
Fears: The Infection, losing Blackbird
Desires/Ambitions: To be rid of the infection while keeping Blackbird, to avenge her brother and parents, to drive throughout the entire country with Blackbird
Bad Habits: Very short with people

Skills:
Mechanic – Whitney is an incredibly skilled driver and mechanic, with a staggering aptitude for vehicles.

Martial Arts – Whitney’s father was a military bigwig, and later became a high ranking CIA Agent.  He saw to it that his daughter learned how to defend herself.  She has taken up fighting as a bit of a hobby, learning multiple styles of unarmed combat.

Investigative Mind – Whitney has studied criminology and crime on a very intimate level. One could say that she’s obsessed. But it has led to a very keen understanding of the criminal world, and a peerless investigative mind.

Powers:
Symbiosis – Whitney has a symbiotic connection to her car, Blackbird, which is actually a paranormal battle wagon, of sorts.

Demonic Physiology – As Whitney’s infection from the symbiosis grows, the amount of Nightmarish traits she takes on increases. Her strength slowly increases. At the time of her introduction, she can lift roughly two tons and still looks entirely human (although the veins in the arm on which her binding bracelet is are becoming black).  Her eyes occasionally glow yellow and her body occasionally generates excessive amounts of heat.  Her pain tolerance is exceptional and she can withstand a greater degree of damage, healing off injuries that would be fatal to ordinary humans.  One bullet isn’t going to do her in, regardless of where it lands.  She is immune to malevolent attacks, as well.

Paranormal Sense – Whitney can sense the presence of ghosts, nigh-demons (demons from the Nightmare Dimension), and other supernatural entities, then hone in on that sense for the ability to see and hear them.

Disadvantages:
The longer Whitney resists doing the bidding of Gorr, the more infected she winds up becoming with his influence.  As a result, she’ll slowly become more Nightmarish than Human.  As the infection grows, the voices in her head grow stronger, and her will becomes less her own, little by little.  At the same time, however, the infection is not complete.  Thus she has some very clearly defined physical limits. For now. This can be abated by sending souls to the Nightmare Dimension, but only halts the process for so long.

Weapons & Items:
Blackbird – Blackbird is an entity unto itself. A paranormal creature with a symbiotic connection to its chosen Driver. Blackbird has a large host of abilities, being comprised of Ash and Hellfire. It can alter its shape into a wide variety of appearances and generate attached constructs of ash and hellfire. It can also warp space, becoming bigger on the inside than on the outside. Blackbird can even defy many of the laws of nature, allowing it to ride on the surface of water (by generating a road of solid hellfire), on vertical surfaces and upside-down, and accelerate to Mach speeds.  Blackbird can also decompose into a cloud of ash and recompose itself where it wishes, regardless of how far apart the ashes might get spread.  Furthermore, it is fully capable of driving itself. Blackbird is a sentient being, and has emotion. It can speak, telepathically, with its selected driver.  It prefers to be referred to as Female, as well, and is most commonly seen in the form of a ’67 Pontiac GTO.  It’s been suggested that Blackbird’s personality changes from driver to driver.  Blackbird can open rifts into Gorr’s realm of the Nightmare Dimension, which it can then send victims to. Blackbird can take virtually any form it pleases, or that Whitney desires it to, not just its standard vehicle state. It can also partition itself, as Whitney's Valet suit is comprised of a portion of Blackbird's make.

Back Story:
Whitney Link is a descendant of a Golden Age superhero known as "Courier." The original Driver was the partner of another, known as The Puzzler - a world renowned detective whose prowess in combat and knack for deciphering unusual predicaments earned him a place among the world's finest heroes. Courier drove a vehicle called 'Blackbird', and using its arsenal of advanced tools and weapons, proved invaluable in his own right. But he, along with the rest of the heroes he was associated with disappeared. It wasn't until many years later that Blackbird was found, mysteriously sitting in its owner's old garage as if it'd always been there. But something was different about it. As it turned out, Blackbird was far more than it seemed. And it would soon be discovered by an unassuming young woman, descended from the long-missing golden age hero.

Whitney had a nightmarish life, coming up in the middle of a rotten town, known for its high crime rate. It was only natural that things escalated the way they did. During a hostage situation, her parents and brother were all made into victims. Whitney turned that grief into productivity, getting to work on learning everything she could about crime and criminal minds. To relieve stress, she threw herself into her passion for the automotive. And that was when her attention was brought to Blackbird. While at her parents' home to sort out possessions and the like, she stumbled across Blackbird in the garage. And upon sitting in the vehicle, her fate was sealed. Blackbird had never been just some sort of souped-up car. It was alive. It took a somewhat newer form, upon Whitney's sitting inside, and formed the same symbiotic binding to her as it had with its original owner, informing her of its purpose. The car was originally created as a mode of transportation for Acheron’s emissary to travel the world and assist in cleaning up the messes left by his siblings. But something had changed. Gorr corrupted the car after the previous Driver disappeared. Now the vile nigh-demon demanded souls be sent to his realm, and whosoever drove that vehicle would carry out this bidding... whether they wanted to or not.

Real Name: Wendy Liu
Alias(es): PandaGirl (Publicly Recognized Title), Pan (Mostly responds to this), Pan-Pan
Identity Status: Technically Secret
Gender: F
Beginning Age: 19
Place of Birth: San Francisco, CA
Occupational Status: N/A
Nationality/Ethnicity: Chinese/American
Alignment: C/N

Appearance:

Wendy seems to sorely lack higher mental faculties.  That or she is sorely uneducated.  She maintains a minimal degree of worldliness and a childlike innocence.  However, she operates primarily on instinct.  She is a creature of habit and experience.  She lacks any real moral core, as it were, however she knows enough to determine that she isn't fond of loss.  She does understand friendship and is saddened by the loss of any friend.  She is very dependent on those more worldly than herself in many regards, though she is perfectly capable of functioning on some level on her own.  She is able to follow instruction/direction easily enough, provided they are simple. She enjoys playgrounds, children's games, and helping people she looks up to.

She makes friends with kids easily and is incredibly defensive of them, even to other kids.  She will protect any young friend she makes, be it from bullies, bad parenting, or everyday catastrophes.  Speaking of being defensive, while personal insults very much fly over her head, if Pan feels threatened or one of her friends is threatened, her instinctual side kicks in.  She becomes absolutely ferocious.  She uses all of her speed and strength to the effect of defending herself or others.  She is also smart enough to show restraint when her opposition likewise comes from children, and prefers to simply frighten them away, rather than do what she'll do to an adult, which usually results in aching, breaking, and possibly a little bleeding.  She doesn't appear to want to kill anyone, however.

Pan is particularly attached to a little panda-themed teddy bear that she absolutely always has on her.  If she doesn't have it with her, then it's in the hands of one of her friends, whom she let hold it while she was off doing some daring deed.

Pan does have a rudimentary understanding of the English Language, and seems to recall a song from her childhood, sang in Chinese.

Powers:
Supernatural Condition - Wendy's biology is significantly augmented.  She is remarkably resilient and superhumanly strong, as well as agile and capable of jumping over extraordinary distances.  She's strong enough to lift large construction vehicles and resilient enough to tank demolition-grade explosions.  She resists contaminants and illness, as well.

Supernatural Senses - Wendy's senses are supernaturally acute.  She can hear, smell, and see over incredible range with optimal clarity/potency.  She also possesses a limited danger sense.

Neutral Force Good - Yin Pan can access the Light Side of the Neutral Force powers, albeit in extremely limited fashion, which imbues her with a sort of empathic, benevolent energy. It can be used to heal or harm those graced or struck by it.  It will not heal or harm anyone touched by it if it was not meant for them, however.  Meaning a person can't just push/pull someone into her path.

Neutral Force Evil - Yang Pan can access the Dark Side of the Neutral Force.  This imbues her with the ability to harness a sort of empathic malevolent energy, which she can use similarly to its benevolent counter part, but in far more destructive attacks (mainly bursts, shockwaves,  or, in its intangible form, it can be used to unnerve people and induce fear, provided the target's will isn't strong enough to withstand it).

Disadvantages:
Pan has near perfect control over her strength.  However, this control tends to get lost as she progressively gets angrier.  Furthermore, Pan is resilient, but not invulnerable.  Those as strong as she is can bring her harm.  She is also more vulnerable to magical assaults and is very susceptible to psychic assaults.  She is also still susceptible to airborne drugs, such as knockout gas.  It simply requires a much larger quantity than a normal human being (roughly 10x).

As previous stated... Pan isn't very bright.  She relies on the guidance of her clever young friend, Shelly, or on the instruction of the spirit possessing her teddy bear.  Beyond that, everything she does is instinct driven.

Weapons & Items:
Eclipser - The spirit that possesses and empowers Pan's teddy bear, the Eclipser is what binds Pan to the Neutral Force.  It is essentially indestructible.

Weakness(es): For all the power it boasts, the Eclipser possesses an inanimate object.  It can't move on its own or actively do anything whilst in this form and it has no alternative to this form.  Aside from talking, it is essentially useless without a Neutral Force conduit (like Pan) to access its power.

Back Story:
Pan is found unconscious at the riverbed in the woods near little Shelly Lockwood's house.  Afterwards, she's brought to the house and patched up from some form of injury.  Shelly nicknames her Pan due to her outfit and she lets Shelly hold her teddy bear, which has her name, "Wendy Liu," on the tag.  However, before Shelly could confront her about this, Wendy disappears.

Later, she shows up again in the city, protecting a child at Shelly's school from an oncoming bus.  She stops the vehicle by grabbing the boy and shielding him with her own body, denting the hood.  Eventually word of her starts spreading around and she's romanticizes as some sort of "Children's Hero."  She's soon found again by Shelly and a couple of friends who set up a place for her to stay.

During a recent character event, Pan befriended the embodiment of the Good and Evil portion of the "Neutral Force," the Eclipser.  The wandering spirit, in need of a host, found its place in Pan's teddy bear, making it into a sentient anchor through which Pan can access the Neutral Force, herself.  However, having since been bound to the Neutral Force means that Pan's actions are sometimes impacted by this.  Pan is inherently neutral.  She cares nothing of the troubles in the outside world.  She just wants to go about her life and make friends, play, and the like.  However, the neutral force can compel her to take on a persona that is more overtly good or evil (which is usually little more than a feral juggernaut, given her limited intelligence), depending on where it senses the balance of the two presently falls.  Generally the scale remains close enough to the center that this doesn't occur.  However, it has happened before.

The Eclipser is a part of the Neutral Force, which was an order of transcendent entities that once tried to maintain a balance that would prevent mortal beings from wiping themselves out.  However, the Neutral Force was, itself, flawed, believing that all things were quantifiable.  This allowed them to be manipulated by Chaos, of the Chaos and Order binary.  Chaos eventually executed it and his brother's neutral force conduit, Paradox, and plunged the Neutral Force into open conflict until only Chaos and the Neutral Force entities were left.  The Neutral Force entities, weakened, were defeated.  The Eclipser, however, took Good and Evil and fled to the mortal plane.  Without a body of its own, it sought out a host, eventually finding several but finally ending up with Pan during the arc "Battle for Balance."

Good and Evil are, frankly, obnoxious entities that frequently bicker.  It is the job of a neutral force conduit to mediate between them.  Once upon a time the Eclipser's duty was to weigh the actions of the world, itself, alongside good and evil, and judge whether the actions of those around them were more in line with one or the other by hearing the arguments of the entities, themselves.  While the scale is never truly entirely balanced, should either side fall beneath a mark on the scale, it is a bad sign.  Without their previous nigh omnipresent sight of mortal beings, however, they have been forced to instead make one individual the representative for all.  That representative is none other than Pan.  Should the scale tip too far in one direction, the opposing Neutral Force entity gains control over the host body until the scale once again balances.  Thus Good always attempts to argue that the actions of the host are malicious while Evil argues that the actions of the host were self righteous.  In other words: they want out. Good wants to help cure the world, while evil wants to make it... more interesting.

Name:  Tammy Takako Minako
Age:  19 Years
Gender:  Female
Species:  Human
Appearance: Asian American with black hair, brown/orange eyes, 5'10 tall
Spoiler:

Personality:  Sarcastic, Energetic, Pessimistic, Impatient
Hobbies: Dancing, Watching TV, Hanging with Friends, Not Studying
Combat Skills: None
Supernatural Skills: Ice Element
Back Story:  Tam is a girl trapped by her own family traditions.  Due to having Japanese grandparents, the "joys" of arranged marriages still exist within her line--and of course, she's next.  Every time she even thinks about it, eyes roll.  Tam doesn't know which is worse, her family members, themselves, or the cliche continuity of her own life tragedies that come from her family.  Having already finished high school, Tam was quick to jump into college as an excuse to thwart the rushing wave of delirious decision makers that are her parents.  As long as she is still learning, they agreed that they would not be too hasty in their decision...which was more time for Tam to find away to make her own little escape.

Within the University, which she is dwelling at alone away from her family, she is double majoring in Dance and Business Management.  Dance is the only thing that interests Tam at all, but her parents simply would not allow her to enter college without a "useful, logical" major to go with her passion.  She has been studying various styles of dance, including ballroom, hip-hop, salsa, and so on.  As a student, her artistic classes have soaring grades, though all of those that file under the business category are usually just enough to pass the class, though not always on the first try.

Rising Adventures GiantWinterMoth

Tam's mother calls her "Tammy," whereas her father calls her "Tokako," after her middle name.  Oddly enough, her parents are so different in how traditional they are into their Japanese roots--her mother being the more relaxed and American of the two.  Nonetheless, despite all of the ways they differ, they both agree on marrying Tam off as soon as possible, so they simply aren't different enough for her tastes.

Name: Nite Lite
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Species: Light Sprite
Appearance:
Nite Lite has black hair and glowing yellow eyes and reaches about 5 foot 4’’ tall. (She shrinks as her energy drains until actually becoming a whisp when it’s near depleted.)
Rising Adventures Dc388c10
Rising Adventures 46c27310
Personality: Primarily always chipper and energetic, except when she is low on energy, she can get grumpy, lazy if not sad.
Hobbies: Singing, instruments, music, meeting her fans, cooking, travelling.
Combat Skills: close to none, she can’t really physically fight. Though she is practically weightless and is quite fast as she floats about.
Supernatural Skills: Nite Lite is basically made of Light. Completely throwing away what needs she would have as human, all she needs to sustain her energy is moonlight, and a fair amount can be stored up inside herself in one night, enough to last more that the day, given that she doesn’t overdo it. Anything physical can’t really affect Nite Lite other than draining some energy when she reforms herself into a ´ ´physical’’ state. Magical attacks or use of elements or explosions etc, would have much more of an effect on her, especially magic of dark nature. One of her only real abilities is to disharge some of her energy into another to heal injuries. Bigger the injury bigger the cost.
Back Story: to be determined.
