1930's Empty 1930's

Post by Guest 7th July 2011, 11:20 pm

What do you think of when you hear, 'The 30's'?
The Mafia? The Great Depression? Black and white movies? The Camorissta? Cigars? Guns in violin cases?
Well to start this story off right..
Forget everything you thought you knew about the 1930's.
Prohibition Era America, Manhatten.
Alchemists are racing to make the Elixer of life, promising to grant any mortal man immortality. Homunculi, artificial humans created by Alchemists to do their bidding, roam the streets running 'errands' for their mystical masters. At the same time, a bottle of the red elixer has fallen into the hands of the Vittoro Family. Mistaking it for celebratory wine, these gangsters downed it and have been granted eternal life. Will this turn out to be a blessing or a curse? Depends on your perspective. While this goes down, the heads of two well known families are trying to make a truce. But squabbles and shoot outs are hindering their progress. With immortals with ill intentions in their minds, sneaking into their midst, it's hard to distinguish ally from enemy.
~~
Meanwhile, on the trans-continental The Flying Pussyfoot, the rich and the poor board this train going from Chicago to Manhatten. Problem is, three gangs have 'hijacked' this train for their own ends and means. A poor yet good hearted gang of bootleggers, looking to steal some freight. A cult dedicated to the infamous criminal and Alchemist, Huey Lafforet, boards the train, The Lemures. They're looking to hold some hostages to get their boss released. The final gang just spells trouble all around. 'Dressed all in white' this gang on the train for one reason alone, to slaughter the people on it and crash it straight into the heart of Manhatten. Complete Sociopaths, Cultists, and Bootleggers could be the least of the innocent passengers problems with immortals in their midst. Along with the urban legend of 'The Rail Tracer', whom is said to devour passengers starting at the back of the train. Sadistic hitmen, reporters, theives, immortals, anyone who you could imagine is aboard this train, and we're all in for some action.
~~
So who are you gonna play in this giant chess game? What part will you play?
Cause here every Dick and Jane plays the lead in this madness.
And trust me, this is going to be one hell of a ride.
~~

With all the formalities out of the way. These sign ups are going to roll a bit diffrently. There are two arcs and hence two diffrent forums to this RP.
The Arc taking place in Manhatten shall be suitably named
"The Manhatten Arc"
The Arc taking place *For the most part* on the train shall be called
"The Flying Pussyfoot Arc"

PM me which *You can also have OCs in both* Arc you would like to be in and I shall PM you the forums. Then you shall post your OCs here.
Also, any details or relationships you'd like your OCs to have with other OCs, PM me those as well.
I'd also like to let it be known these characters need to be HUMAN *and immortal, Homculus counts as well* So no fallen angels, werewolves, vampires, demons, ect.
This is for the most part a realistic RP.
If your character takes a bullet between the eyes *Unless they are an immortal or a homunculi* they will die.
There will be *forewarning* one character that would normally be concidered a 'God Model'. They were MADE to be this way.
I give you a fore warning to save alot of 'WTF' moments.
Trust me, you will know this situation when you see it ;)
But don't worry, most of your characters will not come incontact with/fight this individual.
This RP is loosely based on the Anime 'Baccano!' I am keeping a few keystone characters and settings. The rest of the story is entirely in your hands.
Another note, your character CAN DIE in this. So be wary and keep a sharp eye. Also, depending on what choices your character makes, that WILL effect his or her outcome in the story. I am giving you an extreme amount of freedom to run wild here. Whether that is good or bad is for you to decide.
So without further ado, I declare sign ups OPEN.

Basically, a normal template for a regular RP. The reason I am having you all PM me is to explain specifics about the story that I would otherwise not be able to explain here, at risk of spoiling a bit of the story. It also gives me an oppertunity to get to know the character and how they act. So I can place them in an appropriate situation at the beggining of the RP. Also, it would make it a bit easier for me to manage concidering I want the characters in Manhatten and on the Train to be about equal in ratio. It doesn't have to be exact, it just wouldn't be really fair if there were about 12 OCs on the train and only 3 in Manhatten.
So

Name:

Physical age (Only for Immortals and homunculi):

Actual Age:

Appearance:

Any specific fighting style or weapon (Keep it appropriate to the setting please):

History:

Personality:

So all in all the non story specific layout looks like a normal template.
Like I said, PM me what story you want to be in before or after you've worked out a character and I'll send you a full template.

Also, in both stories there are going to be things known as 'Immortals'. Immortals are essentially beings that cannot die. They'll always be 'reconstructed' (I.E if they get shot between the eyes, blood goes everywhere, seconds later the blood goes back into their skull, the skin heals, and the bullet pops out of their skull). Immortals can also 'Eat' each other. This requires them to place their right hand on top of the head of another immortal and think 'I want to eat'. The process that follows is the first immortal absorbing all of the others memories, feelings and emotions. The skin, innards and physical matter is 'devoured' right after, leaving nothing but a pile of clothes.
There are also things called 'Failed Immortals'. There are few. They do regenerate and cannot die from bullets/drowning/being stabbed, but they do die of age. They also can still be devoured.
Homunculus' are artificial humans created by Alchemists to serve them. They are immortal and can be 'Devoured'. They also act as the Alchemists body gaurd.

The 'Families' I will explain if you want your character to be part of one. This only happens in Manhatten, but if you are on the train you can be a member of a specific family due to the fact the train is going to Manhatten. I do have premaid families (because if I let people go willy nilly I would end up with way more than I wanted). But they're essentially mafia families, I reccomend googling them because it was a large part of the 1930's underground. Also, most characters in Manhatten (unless you are an Alchemist or Homunculus) WILL be part of a family. I will make a few exceptions if it's a character that could be reasonably placed in the story.

Now in the train much more freedom is granted. Here I WOULD some people to be part of the gangs but you by NO MEANS have to be. I want to see CREATIVITY and DIVERSITY Smile. So go nuts here! Reporters, theives, Governers, you name it!

Here is one character. This will be for the Manhattan arch...Still thinking of one possibly for the train arc

Name: Arcadia

Physical age: She appears to be 20

Actual age: She was created 10 years ago

Gender: Female

Race: Homuculus

Personality: She is very quiet, and not much is known about her. She does not talk to people unnecessarily.

Description: She was designed to be a beautiful young lady. She is 5'7" with a very petite frame. Her raven black wavy hair flows to the middle of her back. She has a heart shaped face with a dimple in her left cheek when she smiles. Her complexion is perfect porcelain. Her eyes are gold colored. She usually dons a pinstriped suit with a pencil skirt, stocking (This was before nylons), and medium high heels.

Skills/Weapons: She carries 2 pistols at all times in a holster under she sport jacket.

Background Info: Arcadia was developed by an Alchemist. As such she grew up a creature of said Alchemist. She is just starting to develop her own personality after being let out into the world more. However she still shies away from other people. Not much is known about her by others.

Flying Pussyfoot Arc.

Name: Nigel Winters
Physical Age: n/a
Actual Age: 27
Gender: Male
Race:Human, more specifically American.
Personality: Nigel appears to be shy, but this is a facade for maintaining his cover. He is a freelance assassin, dealing with anyone who wants anyone dead. He is often considered reckless or stupid because he refuses to use guns or explosives in his work. He charges top dollar for his work because he usually can make his kill look like an accidental death and leaves no fingerprints. He wears a black pinstriped business suit and tie, and wears a black fedora to cover his bright white hair, as it is very conspicuous in his line of work. Whenever he tries to dye it, it stays the same color. Physically, he is 5'10, thin as a rod, and good looking. There is no way could win in a fight with someone bigger than himself so he uses the element of surprise to quickly incapacitate his victims. He isn't a sadist, and doesn't enjoy his work too much, but he is obscenely rich from it.
Fighting Style: Uses concealed knives and blades, usually attached to his steel alloy prosthetic arm. He also employs the use of neurotoxins in certain aspects of his job. He has no skill whatsoever fighting unarmed, but can quickly kill almost anyone with any blade, provided that it is sharp.
Weapons: 3 different size knives that extend from his arm at different angles. They are
activated by touching the buttons on his prosthetic. They can be difficult to retract as they are spring loaded, and must be thoroughly maintained.
History: When he was 12, his parents house was burned down by his sadistic uncle for millions in insurance money, and his mother and father perished. He redeemed himself by murdering his uncle and robbing 20 of his wealthy uncle's factories and stores. He got into the murder business after realizing how easy it was.

(Side Note:) I am so excited for this RP! Mainly because it's Baccano! But also because I think that Fairy will do a great job!

1930's Empty Re: 1930's

Alrighty, so I was a little nervous in joining an rp, but I was interested in doing this one and Fairy's been so helpful getting me started. So here is my character for the train.

The Flying Pussyfoot Arc
Name: Amelia Hartmann
Afflation (Human, immortal, Alchemist, Homunculus, Reporter ect.): Immortal (though works as an reporter)
Gender: Female
Physical Age (For Immortals, Homunculi, Alchemists): 21
Actual Age (For Immortals, Homunculi, Alchemists): 87

Appearance: Amelia has the appearance of a young mature woman. Dark red hair flows to just above her shoulders. She also has brown eyes, has light-colored skin, and is 5’6”. She wears a long-sleeved, navy blue pleated dress. This dress has buttons that go down the front until it reaches a wide black belt. She also wears a black turtleneck shirt which can only be seen around her neck. She wears black low-heeled shoes.

History: Amelia was born in the 1840s but lost her parents due to an unfortunate incident that she does not discuss. She grew up with her younger brother, Lucas, when both of them became fascinated with the concept of life and death. During the Civil War, Lucas had become so delved in alchemy that he began to look for a way to obtain immortality by whatever means. He believed that he could create an army of immortals to win and stop the war. Amelia, beginning to fear the path that they were taking, warned her brother. He did not see reason and was going to take off on his own, but Amelia did not allow this. Instead, she decided that she would help him find immortality so that she could watch over him and hopefully talk some sense into him. As the Civil War neared to its conclusion, they obtained immortality, but it was at this moment that she no longer had her brother. Lucas no longer wanted to help in the war. Instead, he believed that he could do whatever he wanted however he wanted since there was nobody to stop him. Amelia tried to stop him, and the siblings began to fight until Lucas took off, biding his sister farewell. After that day, Amelia began to search for her brother (seeing him as her responsibility) and promised to stop him. After many years of following Lucas, the trail became cold. While still searching for clues of Lucas, she became an anonymous journalist to help her get by. This decision also allowed her to get involved in events that were occurring, allowing some sense that she was still alive and connected to the world.

Personality: When Amelia’s parents died, she took it upon herself to bring up her brother. She had to learn the ways of the world fast so that she could protect and care for her younger brother. This led to her becoming very determined, responsible and even stubborn. However, she still maintained a sense of cheerfulness with her brother. After losing her brother, she began to lose that part of herself. Her cheerfulness was replaced with a solemn attitude. She began to blame herself for her mistakes and believed that it was her responsibility to put a stop to Lucas by whatever means. This desire began to consume her and she realized that she was starting to lose touch with the rest of the world.

Weapon of Choice: While Amelia does not usually fight on a day to day basis, she is well-trained in using a pistol which she carries in her purse. However, she also carries a switchblade that was her brother’s to which she only uses for emergency situations.

What group do they belong to: No specific group. Both as a reporter and an immortal, she has chosen to be more of an observer on the world for now. However, she will get involved with situations if she feels it is necessary.

Why are they on the train: The reason for being on the train is two-fold. Her cover story is that she is was in Chicago for an article she was writing and is returning back to Manhattan. She has no problem stating that she would like to write a piece on the gang wars that is occurring and plans on taking it as her next article. While she does not tell this to others, she was in Chicago because she followed some rumors that pertained to her brother.

Motives: Her main motive in life is to take responsibility for her brother’s and her actions.

First Class/ Stow away/ Coach/ Ect.: Coach
