Chapter 1: Conscripted Destiny

{Attn: NARRATION}

The sun was at its zenith, brightly illuminating the whole of Cyrusia with its benevolent sunlight. Every city, town, village and hamlet was already engaged in frivolous activity, unbeknownst of the strange fate that was soon to befall them. Millions of human souls skittered about, all absorbed in their own actions, ignoring the fragility of their unstoppable mortality.

Dark energy was gathering in the world, and only one man knew the implications of his past, unfathomable actions. His providence was a sad, if not unfortunate one, due to the inexplicable choice he had made many years ago, yet, regret was a not the emotion he felt. In its stead, he felt a great responsibility to correct and repair the gap he had ordained; all the while knowing that it would cost him his life. If anything, he felt a great and tranquil satisfaction, knowing that his sacrifice would not be in vain. Balance would be restored, and Cyrusia would forever know peace, devoid of both the corrupting Darkness and the untainted Light.

However, his living forfeit could not come to pass without the assistance of his unwilling champions, produced at the cost of his own essence.

The doom of a select few spelt the future of an indiscriminate many. Choices would not be given, and question would not be asked, lest they slumber into denial and compunction. One man would give his very existence to protect the balance. One man would give his soul to consume the balance.

And the Chosen Ones, protective, emotionally-significant forerunners for the Precursor of Equilibrium, would be the ones to meld and shape this amazing chapter in Cyrusia’s long history. Though the Cursed One, Jilvane, would be solitary in his portage of the world’s immense destiny, he would be infinitely affected by every action around him.

Thus, the Chosen Ones would be the true authors of this chronicle, and Jilvane would be the tome, a blank page to be inscribed upon.

The lives, pasts, memories, and futures of those elected to take part in this divine fellowship, would not be taken into question. Hate, evil, good, love… all would be lost and hidden away, to make place for the immense burden they would carry.

Across Cyrusia, their latent vocation slowly began to make its way to the surface of their being…

A wise earth mage questioning the Oracle in Destina, seeking guidance about his vague future…

A genius of a woman that tinkers and invents marvelous and dangerous creations in her house in Antronae…

A man in Honoculus revels in his powerful darkness, and his great and terrible strength…

An insane, barbaric sociopath wanders the land, harboring a weakness and a secret….

An uncertain person, servant of a noble family, hiding his mystical powers with an icy exterior…

An eccentric engineer who owns a shop, treasuring her prized firearms as much as she cherishes human life…

A pirate who lives a new life on the sea, attempting to forget the past he left behind…

A prodigally talented soul, once a Dark One, who now lives his life on the line, without a second thought…

A beautiful woman, both a dancer and a singer, enchanting all, yet revealing naught about her sad past…

So very different in hundreds of ways, yet strangely similar in but a few, these unlikely candidates were the ones chosen to protect Cyrusia and her people, from the overwhelming powers contained within a single man.

The Cursed One – Jilvane

With slow, but deliberate movement, imperceptible to all but the most perceptive of entities, the sun overshadowing Cyrusia began its unhurried descent over to the western horizon bordering the far edges of Cyrusia. Its advance was as powerful and deliberate as the terrible fate that now held the world within its malevolent talons, wishing only for the end of all living things.

Only with the aid of the Chosen Ones will the Cursed One be able to manipulate his destiny into a weapon, capable of eliminating his inner demons.

A new page turned in Cyrusia’s already dark and violent history, yet this one would be different. In what ways, however, not even the Seraph was privy of this knowledge.

{End: NARRATION}

{Jilvane: Intro}

Cyrusia Fez_co10
Jilvane with the Sin and Virtue summoned (The fairy is actually gonna be part of the RP)

Swinging his longsword, the Sin, in a perfect circular movement in the air, he deftly side-stepped at the last moment, executing a magnificent maneuver that left him strategically placed to attack his opponent’s unprotected side. He swiped his blade upwards with a dexterous flick of his wrist, and immediately raised his shield, the Virtue, in a protective back stance that would easily leave him in an advantageous position. He chuckled merrily as he executed move after move in perfect harmony, without doing the slightest mistake.

For several more hours, he practiced his sword-and-shield combat skills, perfecting techniques that had already been raised to a level of absolute flawlessness. For this young man, daily training and perfection was a way of life that had been applied to him, though he did not regret this spartan lifestyle, but actually gained a certain satisfaction.

He dutifully completed his standard fighting technique practice, and, wiping the sweat from his brow, directly began to practice his magical skills with great relish and tranquility.

Calling upon his grandiose elemental mastery over both Light and Dark, he casted spell after spell in quick succession, not even stopping to catch his breath. He combined powerful spells, created his own original ones, modified ones that he had already perfected, and generally trained his mystical powers to high levels, always attempting to surpass his unreachable standards. He left his training area in rubble and steaming ruins, with bits and pieces of solidified Light and Dark elements littering the ground, slowly dissolving into nothingness.

A few more hours passed, and Jilvane, quite content with his training for the day, collapsed to ground in happy burst of exhaustion. A small smile appeared on his face, as he stared into the brightly descending sun that outshined every light source in Cyrusia. Though his life could be considered somewhat boring, yet stable and rigourous, he still enjoyed every day, as he thoroughly enjoyed pushing his limits, perfecting his abilities and dreaming of the grand adventures that he would one day embark upon.

Well, anyways, tomorrow would be his 25th birthday, and for Jilvane, this was quite the important day. Actually, he considered it to be the most important moment in his life. His father, old man Seraph, had promised him many years ago that on his twenty-fifth birthday, he would begin the greatest journey of his life, in which he would discover the reason of his existence. And since that day, Jilvane had eagerly awaited its long-distanced arrival, and had ferociously trained his limits to the maximum and beyond, to prepare himself for his first excursion into the human world, a place he had heard about only within magical tomes and old history books. Never had he seen any other place other than his father's large estate, and though he was quite knowledgeable about anything concerning Cyrusia, he strongly desired to learn more, to live a real existence in the real world. What he really wanted was an actual life, with friends, memories emotions, not this rather bleak and simple existence of day-to-day training.

+----------------------------------------+

Suddenly breaking his reverie, he got up, wiped the dirt off of his pants, and slowly walked towards his large house. He adopted a rather leisurely pace on the trail leading to the estate, admiring the beautiful landscape that surrounded the mansion, where he had lived for as long as he could remember.

Meh, his life hadn’t been that bad so far. But, the more he thought about it, the more he desired something else, something to help him discover his purpose, his 'raison d'etre'! These were the types of questions that he often asked himself, despite their obscure origins and their unsatisfying answers. Putting his questioning emotions aside, he whistled a merry tune while stumbling along the path, dreaming about the life he would have, and the things that would happen to him.

Months from now, he would regret having questioned his existence.

Kaimele wakes up it is mid morning. The sun has been up for a few hours already. That is what happens when you have a late concert. Kaimele loves her life now. She loves to sing and dance, even as a little girl. She loved that her mom taught her white magic before she died. Now that she is here she has learned to apply that magic to her songs. She can tell when she looks at the crowd.

Kaimele stretches as she gets out of bed. She throws on her robe and walks out unto her balcony. Dexisto welcomes her with its whimsical architecture. She smiles as she remembers how lost she was the first month she was here. Now she knows the city like the back of her hand. Not that she is ever alone when she does walk the streets. She turns around and goes back into her room.

She gets dressed in pretty feminine clothes, something her father would never let her wear. It is a beautiful sundress, quite the opposite of the dress today. Just another reason for her to love Dexisto. The city was created for the ‘faux pas’ people of the world. This is why she picked it when she ran away from home.

Kaimele leaves her house and walks outside. Her gait is graceful and as beautiful as she is. She was unsure about her destination at first. Then she decides to go to the park. Maybe she will even put on an impromptu concert.

She gets to the park and there are people everywhere! Lovers enjoying their picnics, children running around, painters doing paintings, and others just watching. Kaimele smiles as she walks around, finds the fountain and stands on the ledge. She starts to dance on the edge. People stopped and started to watch her. Her body moves gracefully and in perfect balance. Then she takes out her fans. One time they were weapons, but she had them decorated. Now they are beautiful as well as deadly. The fans twirl around in perfect timing with her dance.

Eventually she stops and takes a bow as the people applaud. Her performance is not over though. She starts to sing. The song she dedicates to the people of the park, the lovers, the children, everyone. It is an uplifting happy song that celebrates life. She hopes people realize just how special it is to be alive.

Claudia made her way down the streets of Antronae. Her brown trench coat blew in the slight breeze. In her arms was a bag full of groceries. She waved at the people she, most of them turned and looked away. Some parents even rushed their kids away from here. She soon stopped and looked at the amazing view of the see that was right across from a house.

Claudia turned and walked up the stairs to the house. It was rather dull looking, except it looked like it had a lot of repair work done on it. She searched her pockets for her key. Claudia noticed one of her neighbors dusting off their front porch. She waved and smiled the person didn't say anything. They just turned away from her.

"Where is my house key?" She asked herself. Her slightly British accent drifted on the wind from the sea. She stood there staring at the door for a few seconds she bobbed her head back and forth as if she was trying to make a decision.

"Eh I am gonna risk it." She said kicking in the door.

Her neighbor practically jumped out of their skin as the door crashed open. She stepped inside then moved really quickly as the door came swinging to a close. After a few seconds of quietness gun shots started to go off. Bullets ripped though the house and out towards the sea. People in the streets fled from Claudia's house. The door looked more like swish cheese than a door.

After what seemed like forever the gun shots had stopped. Two guards started to walk over to her place. One of them started to walk up the stairs but his partner stopped him and pulled him out of the way. A loud boom came from in the house. A cannonball blew what was left of the door away. It sailed over the street and out into the ocean.

The guards soon walked up the stairs and knocked on Claudia's door frame. She walked over to the door and looked at them. The bottom part of her trench coat had bullet holes in it. They stared at her for a moment and she stared right back at them.

"Can I help you boys?" She asked them breaking the silence.

"Yes you can dear. Please for the love of everything that is right get rid of that security system for something not so destructive." One said.

"But it works really well. I mean if some intruder had busted in it would work." She said.

"But it doesn't work if your the one breaking into your own house." The other guard said.

"I couldn't find my key. So I risked it and broke in like normal. No harm done. No one got hurt." She said sticking her hands into her pant pockets. She felt something in her left pocket. "Oh no wait here is my key!" She said pulling it out of her pocket.

"Please just get rid of the system and replace it will an annoying bell or something. This is our last time warning you. Next time we will just take this stuff away from you." The first guard said.

"Didn't you say that like five days ago?" She asked.

"Claudia please just get rid of this stuff. Have a Nice day." The first guard said rather annoyed.

The two guards turned and left. She shrugged and turned walking further into her house. She came back with a new door and placed it where the old one had been. She fixed it right up and looked at all the hanging revolvers and the Cannon. She let out a sigh and started taking stuff down. She had forgotten that she went to the market getting food so that she could cook lunch.

"Get rid of it. Replace it with a bell. Bell's can't protect you like a cannon." She said talking to herself almost mocking the guard that had just been to see her.

She placed all the revolvers on a table. She then walked over into her library that had all kinds of books in it. There was a picture on a small writing desk of her with her family. She looked to be about ten in the photo. There was a slightly older kid standing next to her and her parents where in the background. She sighed and sat in a large leather chair still not remembering she had food to put away.

The captain walked out onto the deck of the ship and cursed aloud. The wind had completely died out and the sail was completely slack; the ship was going nowhere. The crewman nearby simply shrugged his shoulders when the captain looked at him. The captain stomped around the deck, but couldn't find who he was looking for.

"Joshua! Where the h*** are you?! You're shirking your duties!" the captain yelled.

It was at that point that Joshua dropped in from the roof of the cabin. The captain was hilarious when he was mad and had put on a good show, but Joshua knew not to push his luck. He walked over to the captain and smiled.

"Boy! You need to get some wind into that sail!" the captain said, irritated.

"All right, which way're we going?" Joshua asked.

"We got several choices. We can head out to the ocean and see if there are any ships bound for Seiken Numerox, or we can head for Patrusia. Take yer pick."

Joshua didn't say anything or make a decision. Instead, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a coin. While anyone else would have found it odd, the crew of the Esuro was used to his strange habit of leaving his decisions to luck. He always had a coin on his person; he'd been like that since before he'd been brought to the pirates.

"Heads, we go toward Seiken Numerox. Tails, we go to Patrusia," he said.

He flipped the coin, caught it, and held it against the back of his other hand. When he revealed it, it was on tails. He then turned toward the sail and sent a blast of wind into it in the direction of Patrusia. The crewman at the wheel adjusted their course so as to head straight for the town. They were already decently close to Patrusia, so it wouldn't be a long trip at all.

The captain gave Joshua one last look before he headed back to the captain's quarters, one that told him he'd better do his duty this time. Joshua saluted, and the captain turned and left. After hanging around on the deck for a while and giving the sail a couple more puffs, Joshua walked up to one of the crewmen who didn't appear to be doing much of anything.

"Hey Gestaro, wanna make a bet?" he asked.

"Sure, why not," Gestaro replied.

The two men made their bets, then Joshua flipped the coin. It landed on tails and Joshua sighed.

"Aha! I win this time! Fork it over, boy!" Gestaro boasted. "That's what ya get fer cleaning me out last time!"

Joshua handed over the money. "Looks like I got no luck today... Eh, why not, wanna go again?"

Gestaro grinned, and the bet was on once again.

Andre got up an hour before noon and walked over to his claymore where it stood sheathed on its stand. He picked it up unsheathed it and quickly himself three time on all three limbs laughing as the pain surged through his nerve system. The world suddenly became sharper as his sense were heightened from the pain. Since the wound froze shut after every slice he didn’t bother bandaging his wounds, he never does. The next thing he did was clean and re-sheaths his claymore, Pain. Once sheathed he sets it onto the bed as he gets dressed in a simple leather tunic and leggings and then straps Pain onto his back and heads out to the tavern. Has he steps out his door those nearby either rush back into their houses or quickly hid out of sight.

Andre laughed as they fled he was the Vanquisher he should be feared, and he was delighted by the fact that it happened again and again everywhere he passed on his way to lunch at the tavern. He arrived in just under 5 minutes while the average man would have taken 10 to cross the same distance. But he wasn’t a normal man he was a giant 7 foot tall behemoth of a man. His strides where twice that of another man’s plus he was extremely fast from all the training he had and still does. He may be 57 but he was just as capable as the day he became a general when he was but 20 years old.

Upon reaching the tavern door he found that it was barred shut from the inside. Infuriated he made short work of the door by unsheathing Pain and slicing around the door frame kicking it once he was done. The door went flying into the tavern crashing onto the ground halfway to the bar. He then bellowed, “Who dares bar me out of this tavern. Show yourself you lily livered coward. Was it not me who saved your hides during the last apocalypse, was it not me who became the youngest general to ever grace Cyrusia and who NEVER lost a battle!”
Shakily a young man steppes forward and states, “I’m the new owner of this tavern and I will not have you here…..”

He didn’t get the chance to say anything else for as the rest on those in the tavern gasp at the new owner’s stupidity Andre darts forward and punches the owner in the chest and there was a loud snapping sound as several ribs broke. He then grabbed the man by the collar and breaks his collar bone in three places and throws him ten feet backwards into the bar and bellows “Bring me to orders of today’s lunch special!”

Meanwhile everyone in the tavern darts out screaming and to guards work their way in in and upon seeing Andre and then the owner they quickly go over pick up the man and head out to take him to a healer without saying a word to Andre.

He bursts out laughing as he sits down to wait on his food knowing that it WOULD be brought to him because everyone else and the man too if he survived were afraid of him and did their best to keep him happy when they had to have interactions with him, and not giving him his lunch would definitely make him mad.

"Hazael!" a boy, about 12 years old, called before entering the mansion's kitchen. "Oh, there you are!"

Hazael had been cleaning up the dishes from breakfast, but stopped when he heard his name. He turned to face the boy. "What is it, Lucas?"

Lucas looked up at Hazael with a pleading look on his face, and Hazael didn't need any explanation. He walked over and poked the kid in the forehead, then paused for a moment.

"It's under your bed. Again," he said, going back to the dishes.

"Ugh, really? No way!" Lucas exclaimed. "Are you certain?"

"Very. It's closer to the foot of the bed, right next to that old sock," Hazael said as he examined a dish. "Why would I be uncertain?"

"Well... maybe you're lying, then," Lucas said, folding his arms.

"And I would gain what, exactly, from lying to you?" Hazael asked, scrubbing hard to clean a particularly dirty dish.

"Uhhh... enjoyment?" Lucas guessed, but he knew he wasn't getting anywhere. Hazael said nothing and the boy sighed as he left the kitchen and headed for his bedroom.

Hazael didn't normally babysit in the morning, but Mr. and Mrs. Sylvine had left to attend to a pressing matter. He didn't mind babysitting too much, though; Lucas was a good kid. Besides, Hazael had had plenty of practice doing it.

After finishing the dishes and putting them away, Hazael stopped for a moment to look for Mr. and Mrs. Sylvine. He saw them in his mind, on their way home. Just then Lucas entered the room again.

"You were right," he admitted.

"I don't know why you thought otherwise," Hazael said. "Anyway, your parents will be home soon."

"Really? Do you think maybe this time..."

Hazael shook his head. "We won't know until they arrive."

"Let's go wait for them in the front room!" Lucas said as he made his way there, Hazael following.

Daemon, sitting at the foot of a tree, was snoozing since the day before because, in his achieved near immortality, time had not really any meaning to him so, he went about life in a slow and uncaring way.

A petty thief of the city of Anmerkand creeps towards the sleeping Daemon, who's back is resting against the tree trunk. The thief takes out a little dagger while continuously getting closer, until Daemon slightly moves to change his position. The thief freezes, holding his breathe. He did NOT want to wake him up for, it would surely be his death. The thief was taking such a risk because Daemon was notorious and, getting hold of his weapons would make him quite the rich man.

Once Daemon stops moving, the thief starts advancing again, despite him being calm on the outside, this thief was shaking like a leaf on the inside, any false movement or small noise could make Daemon wake up and kill him.

Right as he was thinking this, he steps on a branch and it cracks under the pressure. The thief was now sweating like a dog, he was only expecting Daemon to wake up, giving his supernatural fighting instinct, him being an S class. But... Nothing of the sort happened, Daemon did not even budge, his faint snoring continued, without the slightest change.

The thief frowned, were the legends about this man really true? was he that strong?... either way, he would be rich if he succeeded this, so he continued. Once close enough to strike, the thief takes a deep breathe and lifts up his dagger. At that moment two portals appear one in front of Daemon and one beside the thief's head. Daemon, in an instant, draws his gun and passes his hand through the portal entry, the cannon of the gun hits the thief's temple and... BANG... Blood and brains splatter out of his head, his lifeless body falls to the ground. The portals close and Daemon puts his gun away. He had not stopped snoring during all of what just happened.

About an hour later, he finally awakes and see's the dead man laying there on the ground, a hole going from one side of his head to the other... he shrugs and says ''Again?..'' with sleepy eyes.

Ukram silently sat on the ground with his mind clear and his eyes closed. His hands were held at his chest as if they were holding an invisible sphere. "Empty your mind and only focus on the energy inside you. Feel the way it pulses and moves. Then channel that energy out through your hands." Those words echoed inside Ukram's mind. Those were the words of his teacher and trainer. Ukram's chest rose and fell rhythmically in harmony with his controlled breathing. In through the nose, out through the mouth. Ukram didn't quite know what he was feeling, but there was some kind of entity that he could sense inside of himself. "Before you can channel your inner energy, you must amplify it with your spirit." Ukram's breaths grew deeper as his hands came closer together. Ukram was in a second state of mind. He could barely hear the sounds of the city, feel the ground under his feet, or notice the small rock barreling straight for him. The rock ricocheted off of his forehead, but it left a small bruise, shattering Ukram's concentration. All feeling of the entity inside quickly dissipated. Ukram's eyes burst open in annoyance. He saw a tall and muscular man with a smug smile, silver hair, and another rock being tossed up in his palm.

"So you're the tough guy who's been beating up on my friends, eh? Well I came here to teach you a lesson!" The man exclaimed. He through the second rock with as much force as he could. The piece of stone flew straight for Ukram's eye until it was stopped cold by Ukram's hand. He glared angrily at the man who just got on his bad side. "Come on, already! You think I came here just to throw some rocks at ya!? Get up!" Ukram slowly got to his feet and dusted himself off. Whoever this guy was, he chose a really bad time to grab Ukram's attention. He spread his feet apart and tightly balled his hands into fists. The silver-haired brute charged at Ukram with a fist in the air. He threw the first punch, but Ukram easily jumped out of the way. The next attack caught Ukram off guard. The man spun around and followed up with a fast kick. Ukram barely dodged by ducking to the ground. He thought the man was just another thug with a head full of air. Turns out this guy was a thug with some good moves. Ukram countered by uppercutting from the ground. His opponent took the hit, but quickly recovered. Seems the guy had good defense as well. The man laughed and stretched his jaw. "What's the matter, kid? Can't hit me hard enough?" Ukram responded with a quick right hook. The man stooped to avoid the hit, just as Ukram expected. Ukram used his momentum to send his right foot directly into the man's face, leaving sprawled on the ground.

"What's the matter? Can't take a real hit?" Ukram joked. The man jumped up to his feet and charged a second time. He made another punch aimed at Ukram's face. Ukram wanted to end this, so he moved his head to the side to dodge the punch, grabbed the man's wrist, pulled him in and elbowed him square in the center of the ribs. The blow left the sternum broken in two, causing them man to fall to the ground in pain. Every breath felt like a drill to the chest. Ukram pressed his foot on the man's head, snickering malevolently. "You're just as pathetic as the rest of the men I've fought. Next time you bother me again, you'll get more than broken ribs." Ukram stepped off of the man's head and began to walk back to his home. The man, deeply enraged, fought to stand again. He wouldn't let some punk take him out so easily. The man walked towards Ukram screaming in fury. Ukram had enough of the man's stupidity. All he wanted was to shut him up for good. Ukram turned with the darkest and twisted scowl he ever had. Ukram's mind was practically blank when he thrust his palm into the man's chest, releasing dark energy that caused the man's heart to become paralyzed. The thug stopped on his last step. His mouth agape and his arm frozen in the air. His body collapsed onto the ground. No vital signs were apparent. Ukram stared at the body in dark fury until he realized what he had done. "N...no way...I couldn't have...I didn't mean to..." Ukram looked left and right at disbelief at what had occurred. In all of his life he had never taken a man's life. "No...he had it coming to him...It's his fault he died! Not mine! I better get out of here before somebody else shows up." With that, Ukram scrambled into the trees and headed home with an expression of sheer panic.

Lieselotte sat on the floor of her workshop, her hands covered in oil and grease and her rifle balanced across her knees. Well, the barrel of her rifle, specifically - the stock and the steam action, as well as the new sight she had been working on, lay nearby.

It was early in the morning, only minutes before she had to open shop for the day, and Liesel was busy cleaning her weapons and working on Jutte. The rifle had become a pet project of hers, and she was constantly experimenting with various modifications to the basic structure. She had spent weeks once rifling the barrel of the gun herself – a tedious, slow process, but as she expected, when she fired her off again, her range had become astounding. Of course, to compensate for the greater distance, she had to improve the sight so that she could actually see what she was shooting, and then couldn’t she make the action faster, because one shot at a time was almost dangerously slow…

And it had spiraled out from there. Today she was simply cleaning the gun out, before finally attaching the new sight she had created. She had tried adapting a telescope as an attachable sight, but the end product had been almost too heavy for her. Since then, she had replicated the lens of the telescope and had created a new sight that she hoped would work, using only the telescopic lens in front of the normal sight to see over distances.

She finished cleaning the barrel and set that up on her workbench. Liesel stood up, scooping up the rest of the gun parts and dumping them next to the barrel, as well as her handguns Hansel and Gretel. She snatched her key off of the counter and unlocked the door, propping it open to let the daylight through. She loved this city so much – sure, it was no Antronae, technologically, but it was beautiful all the same. So much life and so much art cramped into one city – even an engineer like herself could appreciate it. She could see why her father had moved here.

Liesel moved back behind the shop counter and to her workbench, deciding to continue working on Jutte until someone showed up.

After her concert was over, Kaimele was checking out her fans. One of them seemed not to be working correctly. Well she can’t have that, especially since she has a show later on tonight. She knows just the person to work on it. Quite honestly it is the only person she will trust with her fans. She did excellent work and didn’t ask questions about her fans.

Kaimele says goodbye to the park and walks again through the town. She finally makes it to the woman’s shop. She walks up to the counter and rings the bell. She can hear Liesel working away on a something. Kaimele only hopes she has time to work on her fans. She stands at the counter and waits patiently.

Liesel heard the bell ringing behind her and stopped her work, setting down her new sight next to her rifle. "Coming," she said, turning around and trotting up to the counter. It was one of her regulars, Kaimele, a dancer and singer in the city. That was another reason she loved this place. All the people here had something to give to the city.

"Kaimele, good to see you," she said. "Fans faulty again?" Kaimele only had one thing, as far as Liesel could tell, that was of real importance to her - the steel fans she carried and used in her dances. They were weapons as well as decorations, though that was no surprise to her - in her eyes, her guns were beautiful as well as practical, after all. The two were hardly mutually exclusive.

"Yes, it is sticking again. I hate to rush you but I do have a show tonight." She looks into the work area moving only her eyes. "If you are too busy I understand. I can always adjust my show." She sets the fans on the counter. "I was thinking about adding something to my show. What would you think about being able to add temporary fire to the fans? Or would that be too dangerous?"

Claudia got up out of her chair. She looked around for a bit thinking that there was something she had forgotten. She started pacing around trying to think what it was. Once she had realized she had left her food out it was to late. It had spoiled. She sighed and tossed it out then looked around.

"Well that was a waste of money. Stupid bloody guards making me forget about it." She said to herself.

Claudia turned to her table in her kitchen and looked at it. She started to empty her pockets onto the table. A leather book with a pencil was put on the table. The next item was a leather pouch that sort of made a metal clanking noise when she dropped it on the table. The last few items were her weapon and a wallet. She took off her jacket and looked at it.

"Well there goes another good jacket." She said tossing it into another room.

She let out a sigh and walked to a closet. She opened it and it had nothing but the same style trench coat in it. She bobbed her head back and forth thinking.

"Now which one to wear?" She asked herself before picking a coat.

She put it on then went back to the kitchen picking up all of her items. She put them away very neatly then made sure she had her key to her house. Then she headed to the door, once there she looked at all the revolvers that were on the table. She was about to put them back up then shook her head.

"Nah. I probably leave them there for now. I should figure something else out for a security system." She said turning and leaving her house.

She locked the door behind herself then made her way down the streets of town. She put on a happy face even though most hated her guts. Eventually she found her way to a small tavern on the other side of town. Claudia entered and saw Andre eating. She walked in and one of the waiters started to walk over to tell her to leave but a different waiter stopped him.

Claudia sat down at a table not far from Andre. She knew who he was, he had quite the reputation in town. Most thought it crazy that Claudia would even sit just two tables away from Andre, though she thought it much different. To Claudia she found that sitting near Andre made her feel like there was at least another person in town she could relate to.

She waited for her food to show up. As she waited she pulled out her leather book with the pencil. She started writing and sketching in it. Eventually her food showed up and she started to eat. She still had her book out and was still drawing in it.

"Get out while you can." The waiter whispered to Claudia.

"Excuse me?" She replied normally.

"That is Andre. Leave now before he kills you." The waiter whispered before leaving in fright.

Claudia looked over at Andre and gave a friendly wave at him. She knew that he could kill her, but she didn't care. She wasn't even afraid of him like most people were. She then went back to eating quietly and not making any fuss over Andre like the waiters where. Once she was done she paid for her food but still sat there drinking water and writing in her book.

Andre noticed a woman walk into the dinner an expected her to leave as soon as she didn’t he knew something was up. Then she sat down not too far from him he really started to get infuriated *doesn’t she know who I AM. Such disrespect how dare she come in here and sit down near me totally unfazed by my precense.* Then he notice is that she has a pencil and note book out and appeared to be making observations and sketches.

That was it he couldn’t take it anymore he quickly got up and places his hand on her collar bone whispering with a rasp cutting edged voice, “Who do you think you are to come in here and draw pictures of me and write notes about my habits. Don’t you know who I am, who hired you and why. Give me one reason why I shouldn’t kill you right now WOMAN.”

He said the word woman with a sneer and any one could plainly see in his eyes how insane he was, but those who stared into them long enough and had some intelligence would see a spark of cleverness that hinted he wasn’t completely insane. He still had an intelligence about him that was the only thing left to show that he was once a man of honor, intelligence, cunning, and those who noticed this could easily see why he was and is the person to achieve the title of general all those years ago. They may also see a deep suffering deep when in his eyes if they knew what to look for.

Claudia was slightly caught off guard when Andre grabbed her collar bone. She looked up at him and put her pencil down on the table. She knew she had to answer carefully otherwise this would be the end of her.

"Let me make several things clear. My name isn't woman it is Claudia. I mean you no harm and no one hired me. I am an inventor. These drawings and writings are my ideas. Go ahead take a look." She said offering him her book.

The pages where filled with all kinds of drawings and random scribbling about how to make something function. There was not a single thing that mentioned Andre. She sat there waiting for him to let go of her.

"See. I don't mean any harm." Claudia said.

Most of the waiters had cowered behind something when Andre grabbed Claudia. She didn't seem any different from when she had first gotten there. Her heart had sped up a bit but it wasn't from fear. If anything it was adrenaline that was making her heart beat faster.

[ATTN: Kaimele, Open]

Liesel’s eyes lit up. “Dangerous? Of course it is. But then, everything interesting is, and I’m sure you can handle it.” She reached out a hand. “Let me have a look,” she said, simultaneously reaching beneath the counter for a can of oil. She took the fans from Kaimele and flipped them both open. One of them was working fine, but the other was sticking, only opening about halfway. She flipped the fan over, checking the hinge.

The spokes of the fan seemed to be catching in each other. Liesel wiped her hand free of grease and delicately prodded the spokes, glancing over at the other fan to see what the end product should be. She quickly fixed the spokes, moving to snap the fan open again. Still, part of it was catching before fully opening, and Liesel quickly found the offending spoke and dipped her finger in oil, lubricating it so that it would slide easily among its fellows.

She snapped the fan open once more. “That’s problem one down,” she said, admiring the fan. “As for adding fire, I can think of a couple of ways. First off, with steel fans like these, it makes it a lot easier to actually produce a spark.” She demonstrated, folding the fans shut and striking the bases together quickly to make a small spark. “You might actually be able to make a spark just by opening the fans quickly enough, though that’s out of my field. The issue then is how to enlarge that to a decent fire. You could add a temporary paper design to it that will catch alight – thought that might take some time, and besides, there would be pieces falling off of it, could be dangerous. Or, you could coat the fans in oil – great lubricant, but it’s also highly flammable. The issue there is that the fire probably won’t last as long, plus it might burn your hands, especially if you have oil left on them.”

Liesel knew she was rambling again, and Kaimele was probably losing interest, but that didn’t stop her. She always thought best out loud, and besides, she leaped on any chance to share her passion with someone. Whether they actually listened or not was almost irrelevant. She snapped the fans open once more, laying them out on the table. “Either way, the fire could damage the decoration you already have there,” she mused. “Anyway, it’s all up to you. It will be dangerous any way we go about it, so if you think you can handle it, I’ll trust you.”

Kaimele watches as Liesel got right to work on her fans. She loves watching other work with passion, and Liesel reminds her of her brother. Probably the reason why she trusts Liesel with his handy work.

She listens carefully as Liesel explains the danger of the fire. "Well I am not too worried about the decoration. The artist who did the original work is drooling to do more, but I just wanted something to wow the audience. I don't want my shows to get boring or anything. Thank you for your honest opinion."

Kaimele sets some coins on the counter, more than enough to cover the work she put in. She also put free passes on the counter. "Thank you so much for the hard work you do. The last thing I want to do is accidentally cut myself or someone else. " She picks up her fan, backs up from the counter, and tests them out.

Pleased with the work, Kaimele leaves the shop. She heads to her healer mentor's house. She is at a level B in her light magic, but knows there is room for improvement. She needs to learn to stop people from fighting. She doesn't necessarily like the status effects of the light magic, but know it can be quite effective. A person cannot fight if they cannot move. A mage cannot use spells if they are silenced. That is what she needs to learn. The reason, to stop people from becoming savage fighters.

She gets to the door and knocks, politely waiting for a response. Her mentor, and older man opens the door, allowing her passage. Kaimele follows him to his training room and awaits his instruction.

Before Andre could decide whether or not to kill Claudia he ears guards forming positions outside and then one of them calls out “By the law of the King and Queen of Cyrusia you are hereby arrested on counts of assault, trespassing, and endangering those around you. Come out slowly with your hands where we can see them.

Andre slowly removes his hand from Claudia’s collar bone with a gleam in his eyes. From what he had heard he could tell there were about 20 guards outside weapons drawn in defensive positions waiting to “arrest” him he chuckled to himself lightly before heading to the doorway slowly with raised hands. Deciding to let them think they had him this time, giving them false hope so he could rip the delusional thought that they could ever arrest Andre the Vanquisher right out of their soft heads.

He walked out nice and slow, that is until he was five feet away from the nearest two guards, then he darted forward lowered his hands and palmed them right in the sternum buckling in their armor and breaking their sternums they went down like sack of potatoes. He proceeded to punch another in the jaw following them up with a second quick jab to the gut causing them double up and collapse to the ground passed out. Leaving fourteen more guards to deal with, he smiled as they all charged him with their weapons and laughed when they didn’t pierce his thick hide.

He quickly darted down when they were preparing for a second assault and sweep kicked their legs causing them to fall to the ground. As they fell he stood up and unsheathed Pain and waited for them to stand back up. When they had he quickly cleaved of one or to limbs off on each of the remaining fourteen guards smacking them with in the temple with the hilt of his sword after removing an arm or to even the occasional leg as well.

Wide eyed and smeared with blood he wiped Pain clean on his tunic and resheathed it, before heading back in to the tavern to finish his meal laughing manically all the while.

Claudia was glad that Andre had let her go. She let out a sigh of relief as he started to walk outside. She gathered up her book and put it away. She then walked over to a mirror towards the back of the tavern. It had reflected Andre's fight out side. She how ever was more concern with the bruise that Andre had left on her lower neck.

"Seriously? Now I look like I have a hickey. That is just great." She said sarcastically to herself.

She turned and saw Andre walk back into the tavern laughing. She started to walk out and stopped by his table and looked at him.

"We really must do this again some time." She said still not noticing all the bodies outside. "Well nice meeting you." Claudia said now walking to the door.

She walked outside and saw all the people begging for help. She let out a sigh then smiled and opened her book. She started to sketch what looked like a mechanical limb. She walked over to one of the injured guards and held the book so that they could see.

"Do you think people would be interested in something like this?" She asked pointing to the drawing. "Though to be honest I don't know how I would get it to work with peoples brains." She said chewing on the end of her pencil.

The guard looked up at her in pain. "Go... get.... help!" He said before passing out.

Claudia sighed and rolled her eyes at the guard. She walked off leaving all the guards there in pain. Her book was closed with a slam and she put it away in her jacket pocket. She couldn't help but take the strangest path through the town looking at all the unusual houses in town. She liked it here even if no one really liked her. She had finally made it back to her house. She looked over at it for a second then walked up the stairs.

This time she had her key. She opened the door like a normal person but she didn't feel right. She liked having some kind of risk for walking into her place. She closed the door then walked into her library taking off her jacket and tossing it into one of the chairs. She then grabbed a book off one of the shelves. The book was titled 101 dangerous inventions and how to make them safe.

Claudia had met the author cause he lived in town. She was glad to have gotten it signed by him. She looked at the signature that read "May you invent tons of useful things." She then remembered that she punched him in the face for calling her a dimwitted inventor that couldn't invent her way out of a wet paper bag. She later proved him wrong when she won the annual inventor competition and made the best invention there.

It had blown away all the other inventions. Quite literally blown them away. She was proud of her inventions even if most of them made no sense to anyone but herself. Claudia soon closed the book and put it standing on the desk. She picked up the family photo that was on her desk. She let out a sigh then went back to her front door grabbing one of the revolvers and walking back to her library.

Claudia had moved the photo from the desk so that only the book was sitting on her desk. It was a rather large book. She knew that most bullets wouldn't even go past page 50. She loaded it up and started to shoot at the book. People outside started to run in every direction again fearing that someone was actually shooting at them.

Andre finished his lunch in few few minutes and because he was in a good mood after the battle he left a sizable tip that would more than cover the damage he caused even though the food hadn’t been up to snuff.

He then walked out the door grinning as he sees the carnage in the street and continues unhindered back toward his house. Once inside he shut his 3in solid oak door and barred it before shutting and barring his 2in thick steel door, both bars being on inch thick steel. Once securing the doors he head over and get a fire going in the fire place then takes off his clothes and tosses them onto the fire note bothering with cleaning them.

Afterwards he heads towards his bath stopping in his bedroom to put Pain on its stand, where he would come back to clean it properly after he cleaned himself. He then drew up an almost ice water bath loving the pain it caused and knowing that when he started to feel numb he needed to get out cause any longer and he would start to get pruney and he just hated that.

The ship continued on its course toward Patrusia. Being a city of merchants, the Noble Pirates were hated by some and friends with others. However, they were allowed to dock there undisturbed, just with extra eyes kept on them; they did carry some cargo to deliver after all.

Joshua sat on the roof of the cabin, his legs hanging over the side. He liked it there; he could usually get a good breeze up there. He could see the coast start to appear on the horizon and knew they would arrive at the town in about an hour. He'd unfortunately lost most of his money to Gestaro, but he made sure to keep a small stash under his pillow to use when they got to cities.

He continued to fill the sail with wind as the ship drew ever closer to Patrusia.

"You have fun out there!" Liesel called as Kaimele left. She looked down at the money on the counter, raising an eyebrow at the amount. She reached beneath the counter and pulled out a strongbox, scooping the coins and the free passes into it. Who knows, maybe she'd go to see Kaimele performing tonight. Another plus to living in Dexisto.

Liesel put away the strongbox and moved back to her workbench, attaching the action and the stock of the gun back to the barrel. Finally, she lifted up the scope delicately, examining it. She placed it on top of the gun, looking through it down the sights experimentally. Hm. Maybe she should attach it to a hinge, rather than straight on, in case she didn't need the sight. She put the gun back down, searching through her spare parts to try and make a hinge.

It was as she was working on the hinge that a thought suddenly struck her, not about her gun now but about Kaimele's fans - tassels! Or some other decoration, attached to the edge, that could be set alight. Far enough from her hands to be safer, and smaller pieces meant little chance that they would break off and hurt the audience. Of course, that would mean modifying the fans as a whole, which she doubted would happen.

She shrugged. It wasn't that much of a big deal anyway, and while Liesel was always more than happy to experiment with her weapons, she wasn't sure how others felt about that. She continued with her work, occasionally moving back to the counter to help a customer.

Two guards walked up the steps to Claudia's house. One knocked on the door and looked over at the other guard who didn't want to be there at all. They both let out a sigh and knocked again.

"Hold your horses I will be there in a moment." Claudia said from within the home.

A few moments later the door opened and she was holding the book she had been firing at. It now had her name shot into the cover. The two guards looked at each other then at Claudia.

"Do you know why we are here again Claudia?" One said.

"Normally it has something to do with my security system that I disabled. Just glad no one has broken in yet." She said sounding very cross.

"It is about the noise. Please stop shooting your guns in your house. People have to walk down this street and they don't want to if you keep firing that blasted gun of yours." The other guard said.

"I am not firing it at anyone just this book. I had an argument with it. Well with the writer and well I don't want it around anymore." Claudia said.

"Then why shoot at it? Couldn't you have donated it or given it to someone?" One guard asked confused that she shot up a book.

"Look it isn't like my security system is up. I took all the revolvers down see they are right over here." She said gesturing to the table that had all kinds of revolvers on it.

"You still have your cannon set up. Get rid of it. Completely get rid of it." The guard said.

"Oh yes thank you for reminding me." Claudia said turning around to the cannon.

She started to fill it with gunpowder. She then tossed the book into the cannon. Claudia then turned and looked at the guards.

"I wouldn't stand there if I were you." Claudia said dragging them into her home.

"Oh no! You are not firing that while we are right here." The guard said getting very mad.

"It hasn't hurt anyone yet. Besides the book will just tare apart. I took all the bullets out of the book. I was impressed one bullet made it to page one hundred. Never mind that now. You might want to cover your ears." She said lighting a match off one of the guard's chest plate.

Claudia lit the fuse for the cannon and covered her ears standing back. "Fire in the hole!" She shouted just before the cannon went off. Shreds of paper went flying out the cannon the pieces of paper littered the street. The two guards grabbed Claudia by the shoulders.

"You are under arrest." They said.

"Oh come on! What if I get rid of the cannon? Will you let me go?" She asked nicely.

"Fine Only if you get rid of the cannon. We are taking these revolvers with us. You won't be allowed to have a gun any more and we will make sure that every shop knows you can't have a gun. Or a cannon." The guards say before letting go of her and taking the revolvers.

They left her house and as they stepped out into the streets the two guards were met with cheers that they had taken her revolvers away. Claudia rolled her eyes then looked at the cannon. She thought about who she could give it to. She nodded her head back and forth thinking.

"Eh I am gonna risk it." She said walking and grabbing her coat.

Claudia left her house and locked it only after making sure she had the key to get back in. She knew every house and every owner. So finding where Andre lived wasn't a problem to her. It took her almost no time at all to get to his house. Once there she knocked on the door.

"Hello? Mr Andre? It is Claudia! We met in the Tavern earlier. I wanted to ask you something." She called out taking a few steps back from his door.

She let out a sigh thinking that he wasn't home. Claudia turned to leave but stared off into the distance. She then had an idea and opened up her sketch book and started to write a new invention down in her book.

Her mentor’s lessons always leave her a little weary. Odd that should happen to a healer. She takes a walk back to her house to help relax. She arrives at an outside diner to have a quick bite to eat. With all that happened she had forgotten to eat, and now her stomach is protesting. The meal was delicious, and she could feel a little more energy. However she knows she is going to need to rest a little bit before the show.

She arrives to her nice home. It is perfect for a single woman such as herself. Yes she is still single no matter what the people say. She hasn’t really dated many guys since she came to Dexisto, nothing serious at least. Although she has plenty of offers daily. She sits in her chaise lounge and grabs a book, enjoying the peace and quiet.

Her eyes jerk open several hours later. She looks at her clock and blinks rapidly. Oh goodness no…THE SHOW!

She runs upstairs to grab her bags and makes sure her fans are packed. Then she raced over to the outdoor theatre. The early evening is just as beautiful as the day. She loves performing in the outdoor theatre. It provides an intimacy between her and the crowd.

Soon her costume is on along with a little make up. She does not need to wear much. Her first costume is for a dance number. It is a colorful flirty dress that will move with her. It was made to match the fans. She stands still on the stage as the lights get lit. As soon as the last one is light she unfurls her fans in a dramatic motion and begins to dance.
