Guild History:
Spoiler:

________________________________________________________________________

Welcome to the Blazing Swords

The guild is a large building made with a more Roman look, with pillars of marble in the colors of the guild spaced out in the main area. In the center of the main area is "The Pit" where any of the guild members go to "discuss" any disputes they may have with another guild member. The basement area is a bar with pool tables, dart boards, and other assorted things where arm wrestling and drinking competitions go on regularly. This also includes the barracks, a militaristic layout where all the members may rest and live, should they desire. In the main area are rugs and pictures of legendary mercenaries. The top floor houses the Guild office, as well as a balcony for where the leader can issue orders to the crew.

The main room houses tables and a jobs board and leads to the fully-stocked kitchen in the back. The main floor also has a weapons and equipment area.

It's a fine Saturday morning, bright despite being cloudy. The air is moist as it threatens to snow upon the home where the Guild Hall resides. The Guild Master steps out of his office and looks down at his men below. Rook smirks, crosses his arms, and says only a few words to quiet the Guild Main Hall.

"Silence, Princesses."

[Attn: Rook, Open]

Sylmeria sat at the small circular table at the foot of the stairs. She sighed; the books were heading to the red. I swear it's like babysitting... she thought ruefully.

She went behind the bar and poured a mug of beer--it was always best to talk with Rook with beer to soften the blow. She gave a shy wave when a few of the other members addressed her and headed toward the stairs.

"Bringin' him the books, eh?" one of them called knowingly. "Good luck!"

A couple of the tables laughed and she blushed but headed determinedly upstairs. Right as she made the top, she saw him looking down over the balcony and headed toward him.

"Um, sir..." she began tentatively.

Right then, he called for silence. Sylmeria placed the mug on the railing and held the books quietly while she waited for him to finish speaking.

[Attn: Rook]

Ashu stood in the corner where he could cast a shadow illusion over himself to make it as hard to spot him as possible, although he knew he couldn't hid himself that well. He stayed there waiting for the right moment where he could sneak to the board to check the quests that he could take, that's when he heard, "Silence, princesses." He figure that everyone's eyes would be on the guild leader; he walked at a quick pace around the tables to the board. He looked, hoping to see an assassination request.

Rook looks out at the members as the guild becomes silent. They all look up at him with expectation and he does not hesitate to give them what they are waiting for.

"Alright. As you have vaguely heard, the Dark Ascension Guild has taken something from us. Something...very special. As such, I've already sent the first team out with Brock in the lead to have a nice camp out next to their Guild Hall. I doubt they'll be pleased.

Additionally, I already have a shipment of supplies heading out to greet them, should they still be successful in their job. They are not to kill anyone unless Dark Ascension starts it. Period. I want to avoid death, but I want what was taken from us. An artifact, if you will.

So....I do, however, want to ready another team to go out there. We'll make this a competition. Whichever team brings me the artifact will get the highest pay. And, of course, it must be retrieved in methods that I can approve. I won't have a Guild War started over this is if I can avoid it.

Thus, anyone who thinks they have the balls to do this one--come to my office and let me know. I'll consider you for the second team. That's all, folks. Oh! And don't spread this info around to the other guilds, will you? Especially not Sheherazade."

With that, the Guild Master walks into his office and shuts the door, purposefully ignoring any questions that were shot in his direction about the artifact and the mission around it. As the door closes, the hall immediately becomes loud with chat and gossip about what the artifact could be and why the Guild Master is so determined to have it.

As Ashu searches the board during the distraction of the Master's announcement, he finds no assassination quests available. He does, however, find bodyguard requests, sentry requests, and a request from a man just down the road that is missing his cat.

[Attn: Rook]

Sylmeria looked down to see Ashu was stealthily trying to look at missions again. She sighed wistfully; why couldn't she have his ability? Maker knew she'd like to be invisible most of the time.

As she listened to Rook's announcement, she mulled his words over. Something important had been taken? He was obviously being vague, but why? More importantly, he had sent a group already and their idea was to tick them off?

She shook her head. Why did they always seem to want to do everything the hard way? Talking to them first would've been the correct way to go about it before antagonizing them. Now, he was making a contest out of it. More likely, it'd be a...pissing contest.

She blushed at the thought of using so vulgar a term. She knew her aunt would've laughed and added three vulgarities--well, if it was just them, she would. She pondered who would be chosen for the second group, but banished the thoughts as his announcement came to a close.

However, he merely turned and headed back to his office and Sylmeria sighed. He purposely ignored her standing right next to him. Why does he always have to be so difficult...?

She picked up the mug of ale and headed for his office. Upon reaching the master's door, she hesitated a moment, then knocked tentatively before she turned the knob and entered. She did a polite bow and placed the mug on his desk and slid it to him.

"Sir," she began quietly, "we need to go over the books."

Ashu looked threw the board, one, twice, a third time but found no assassination request on the board, he also felt eyes on him. He bawled up his fist as he went over the ones that were available to him. That's when he heard the news about artifact, he wanted to help but didn't know if he would do them any good by showing up.

His eyes were a huge problem for him, he wouldn't do as well out in the sun as he would in the dark, there was just something about it that bothered him somewhat and not because he lived underground and worked in the dark all his life either although that does play some kind of role.

[Attn: Rook, Sylmeria]

He rechecked the board one last time, he wanted to make sure he didn't overlook his kind of quest. He sighed in disappointment, he had to work as a team to get money, all he really cared about was.... He turned and went to the office, he knocked and proceeded to go in, he hoped that it would at least be just him and Rook, he also hoped he wouldn't have to say anything. When he walked in he saw someone, the name didn't pop up at the moment.

Rook smiles as Sylmeria walks in, standing up and giving her a small pat on the shoulder before he reseated himself and grabbed the cup of alcohol. He is still grinning from ear to ear until she mentions her purpose of being there. His expression drops to that of a frown.

"Sylmeria! What brings you to...oh. I see." Rook says, mildly disappointed. "You see, that's why I have you doing the books? So that I don't have to go over them?"

Just then, Ashu comes in and he smiles again, immediately moving his focus to the boy instead of to Sylmeria.

"Hey there, bud!" He greets, happy for the interruption, "How can I help ya? Want some beer?"

He only just realizes what he just offered the kid in front of Sylmeria and then cringes before adding: "Just kidding, of course."

"Be that as it may, sir," she said, "I have to discuss this with you as I don't have final executive decision over where our money goes. You do."

Sylmeria sighed as Ashu came in. She knew Rook would use it as an excuse to change the subject. She wasn't disappointed and gasped in horror when he offered him a beer. He quickly implied that he was joking, so she let it go. But she looked at him out the corner of her eye. Had he really been joking...?

She didn't want to be rude, but she had to strike while the iron was hot. "Sir," she said, "the ledgers are going to head in the red if you don't curb the expenditures on alcohol! It's...there's no reason to spend that much money on booze..."

When Ashu walked in he was shocked by greeting, raising his arm in front of him horizantly in front of him. He slowly lowered it when he Rook asked him if he wanted a drink. He shook his head to say no, then drifted back in to his normal stance. To show his respect he took off his mask, then bowed. As he did this he put his right hand to his left chest. "I came to take part in helping bring back this item that you want."

Rook looks aghast at Sylmeria's nonsensical suggestion. He shakes his head immediately, a determined and serious expression on his face as he says: "There are two things that you cannot ever be rid of in an army. Booze and women. They're like socks and boots--soldiers have got to have both.

Without such relevant accessories, the men have no morale, no drive! And as part of this guild, you should want such a drive, no? We must support our guild. Why don't you...uh...get rid of those stupid extra blankets? We don't need 'em! Sure, winter's comin' around, but the booze is what warms us up...and the women."

Then Rook looks over to what Ashu has to say and he raises his eyebrow slightly. Sure, the kid would be great in that area--the entire grounds around their Guild Hall was dark and shady all the damn time--but he's so young and this Guild is dangerous.

"What makes you think you're qualified for the job?" Rook asks simply.

Sylmeria sighed. That had to be the most warped logic she'd ever heard. The worse part was that it was valid from what she'd seen of the men below. "Fine, sir," she said, "I'll crunch some numbers, see where we can cut, and have you sign them."

In listening to Rook and Ashu talk, she shook her head. "Sir..." she began, "um...well, y'see, the thing is...have any of you even tried diplomacy, or...did you go over there guns blazing demanding...? Cause, well...that's not the best way to go about it..."

She wrapped her right arm across herself, rubbing her left arm for comfort and looking down toward the floor. She wasn't meaning to be confrontational, but she needed to ask, especially if he was going to potentially endager a young boy.

Ashu answered the question with a voice that sounded obvious. "I'm an as....." He stoped in the middle of his sentence, he couldn't let them know who he was. "I am the darkness itself, I'm stealthy, and I have a slight of hand." He said. Young boy, he thought to himself as he raised the hood over his head and covered his face with the mask.

[Attn: All in Attendance in Rook's Chambers]

A gentle rapping on the door sounds through the room before it is opened and Gren steps in. He closes the door behind him then steps forward, stands at ready and places his hand on the pommel of his sword.

Gren is a member of the special forces and forward reconicesse corp, He is wearing his standard issue armor, shinned to a mirror polish, as well as his thick dark red dueling cloak. Taking off his helmet he tucks it under his other armpit, revealing short blue hair atop his disfigured face, he is missing most of his nose, an ear and his jaw is lopsided as if it was brutally broken and tended to poorly in the field.

He speaks in something of a slurred voice but keeps it slow to speak clearly. "General, Rook. Ver-s-alli said you neeed my service. Some tin envolvin." he pauses a second takes another breath then continues. "Mead-E-ation, D-A and Quin."

Rook is about to say something when Gren made his entrance. He smiles again, greeting the man with a nod of his head and listening to his words.

"Ah, excellent timing." Rook says with a smirk, "Symeria, Gren here is going to take you to Quinsenterra. We'll be requesting a diplomat, if you will, so don't come back without one.

It'll help with our...mediation between Dark Ascension and ourselves. See? I have thought of diplomatic issues, madam, you just have to be patient with me.

And Ashu, that sounds great, you'd definitely be fit for the next team. When I get more for your team, you'll be notified and will be able to head on out.

Gren....you can transport that many people? I most certainly hope so...."

Ashu noded, bowed, then turned to face the door. He walked out slowly to make sure Rook had nothing else to say then left, he liked being able to carry missions, it's what he grew up on. As he went in to the main room he bumped in to a few of the guild members.

He didn't feel so comfortable, he felt like he would blank out at any moment. He kept his calm though, finding his way to a shaded corner and sitting there, casting a shadow over himself again; he found himself doing this alot, it's no wonder why people hardly know him aside from him being new.

His shadow did serve him well as the people around him who were unawere like the drunk and the people who were buisy, he knew that someone would lay eyes on him, his cast only kept him well hidden, not invisible. He just hoped that they wouuld pass him by if they do see him, thats when he decided to look more in to the missing cat mission. He would come after that ounce he was finished with the team raid.

He did feel sorry for the other people of the first team, they didn't stand a chance against him and his unknown magic, he would trick people into believing that he was just a slight of hand genius, he was close to it but he had a long way to go. He meditates on what he might expect from the dark quarters, he had an idea that it would be his playground, dark places, poor lighting all throughout. All he really needed was to get a picture of what the item would be stored in.

Rook crosses his arms and raises an eyebrow after Ashu leaves the room. He seems quite skeptical of the girl's excuses, and frankly, he wasn't patient, either. This girl was--and let's face it--the only diplomatic type in all of Blazing Swords. After all of the repetitive letters they have sent to Quinsinterra, most of them being mockery and play at their "royal douche faces" (as Rook himself prefers to call them), the chances of getting a mediator were a little low. If anyone could get him a mediator or two, it would be her.

"You gonna turn down a requested mission by your Guild Master?" Rook challenges. At this, he also smirks confidently. She knows the penalty for doing something as silly as that. She'll get cleaning and garbage duty. She most certainly won't enjoy that.

[Attn: Sylmeria and Rook]

Gren watches the slight boy make his departure, then waiting as Sylmeria asks about mission perameters he lets out a chuckle, which makes his jaw pop rather loudly. He works it for a second till it feels comfortable again. "Gather equipment. One, hour, here. ' need talk tew Rook." he tells the girl who he will be escorting, answering any questions she has with a intense stare.

'I've always wondered why she was never placed in the logistics Core. Rook took an interest in her himself, she is outside most of command.' he thinks to himself.

Once everyone has left he will talk to Rook. "That boy need make work. Work hard, stop bad self-inflection." he notes about Ashu, Gren did rather dislike people wallowing in selfpity, and it looked like he was either that, or the boy was going to do something stupid.

"Gen Rook, show me where destination." he asks Rook, seeking his necessary information. After all he wanted to avoid as much trouble as possible. "For Swords I get them there, two o' four days. M'bands ill be empty a ter."

the corner of his lips catch and pull his face into a grotesque grin. "Beat, the soup train"

[Attn: Gren, Rook]

Instead of Rook answering, it was instead Gren. She knew he was in one of the special forces and also that he was horribly disfigured, but beyond that she didn't know much. The care he took with his armor, though, was obvious from the way it shined. But why did he seem to look at her with an interested glint in his eye...?

His speech was slurred slightly--probably owing to that badly healed jaw--so it took a moment for her to process his words. She nodded slightly then offered Rook a slight bow before leaving.

She went to her room and packed a modest suitcase. If she were meeting with Quinsinterra, she'd need some of her more formal attire. She'd managed to save a few articles from the fire, not to mention a small gold pouch, so she had a few dresses that would probably have made some of the more haughty members of that guild green with envy. She smiled sadly as she hugged one of the dresses. Her aunt had always been so kind to her. She and her aunt had both abhorred these fancy outfits, though.

She shrugged. It was all in the name of helping the guild. It hadn't taken her too long to get ready--a few dresses, some real clothes, a few pairs of shoes, a couple of boots, and then the needed essentials for hygiene and maintenance--so she went over the books again with what little time remained. She nodded self-satisfied. She had countered the deficit the alcohol was causing by subtly increasing some of the charges on members, as well as the prices being charged for work. Rook wouldn't be able to tell the difference and neither would their employers, let alone the members. Serves them right.

The hour elapsed, she made way to Rook's office and awaited Gren.

Gren looks up from the maps that he and Rook are going over, to see Rook's assistant enter the room. Looking at the suitcase he is not displeased, it appears she didn't attempt to try his patience. Nodding to Rook he straightens letting the map roll up naturally as his hands lift off.

"Time, Sylmeria." Gren walks back through the door she just entered, waving goodbye over his shoulder at Rook. He walks purposefully up the stairs to the tower, without concern that she is following. En-route a young soldier hands Gren his travel pack, also standard issue, which he slides over his shoulder without breaking stride.

Once outside atop of the tower Gren turns towards Sylmeria, the air around him shimmers like in a haze, the haze reaches out slowly engulfing them both. "Ready, Miss?" says the Admiral as he holds out his hand towards his charge. "Hope you skhipped Eatttin"

Sylmeria nervously followed the man. She'd never been teleported. What did it feel like? Did it hurt? Were there risks that she'd be turned inside out? A hundred different horrible scenarios played through her head before she shook her head and willed them to stop. Worrying like that served no purpose.

When he asked if she was ready, she felt her heart flutter, but nodded weakly. His comment about not eating wasn't very comforting...

Blazing Swords Empty Re: Blazing Swords

[Attn: Ashu, Open]

Garm strode back into the Guild from his last mission. His clothes were tattered in spots and the smell of smoke rose from them despite the rain that he had walked through dampening some of it. When people looked up he did not even have to glare at them. They looked back down to their mugs of ale and beer when they realized it was him. He was not the top dog in Blazing Swords, but at this rate he was going to be. He was not interested in the prestige as much as carrying his weight in the Guild. To be the best one there and to give his all for what he believed in.

As Garm walked by Ashu's position he caught sight of the boy. His grin was not a pleasant one. His metal teeth glinted in the flickering light. He leaned in and gave a puff of air to move Ashu's chair backward a little.
That'll get tha lil punk's attention.
"Hey, lil piss poor whelp, you hidin' in tha shadows ag'n? What's 'a maddar? Can't reveal yer presance to your own Guild members?"
He said with a sour laugh and others around laughed heartily with him. Although some just chuckled uneasily and looked away.

"Ya don't fit tha mold here feather weight. Either ya prove yer some werth aroun'ere, or ya can make yerself scarce an' join those Dark Ascenshon skulkers n' stalkers. Bet you'd like that eh kid?"
He told the brat and breathed in deep to give a hard gust of wind. It knocked all of the plates and cups off the table and knocked the chairs over. He laughed hard after that and walked off not bothering to let the kid react to his tirade.
Shadow bettr find some balls soon or he ain't gonna last long 't'all. He thought wryly.

[Attn: Rook, Open]

Garm stomped up the stairs shaking the rain clinging to him off his clothes. He then made his way to Rook's office. He literally burst through the door.

"Ya shitin' me Rook!? I get dun wit'a Guild quest dealin' wit'sum spell-throwin' pyro pricks, and ya go'n send a whole unit off ta Dork Ass-itchin' without notifying me?"
He said gruffly. He knew Rook would not screw him over or anything, but he had to make a fuss to get Rook's blood boiling. Always made the man spout out info he might withhold otherwise.

"How'm I ever gonna get to S-rank if ya keep shortchangin' me an' tryin' to play favorites with the lowlies?"
He then looked around for Sylmeria. She was always nearby but he had not seen her at all.
"Where's Syl anyway!? You sen' her off on some quest an' leave me in tha rain? When you ever sen' her out? NEVER that's when. She's the flippin' bookkeeper!"

Garm did not always act like this, but he did it just often enough to get results, and Rook liked the fierce of heart.
