Spoiler:

NOTE: How the Guilds, as a whole, view Virago
- Valoria is in FIERCE competition with Virago since they take Valoria's best quests.
- Blazing Swords is also in FIERCE competition with Virago since they let BS do all the work and steal the credit by actually completing the task at the end.
- Quinsenterra hate Virago's methods and "ignore" Virago, even going so far as not mentioning the group at all.
+ Ferrum Coordinator gets business from Virago and have even worked together plenty of times.
+ Sheherazade and Virago have worked together on some missions. Virago members are hired to protect Sheherazade archaeologists.
+ Infinity Edge, Walsh, and Rhodes all grudgingly respect Virago's success and accomplishments, and all three have had a few joint missions with Virago when everyone benefits.
= Dark Ascension does not really notice Virago yet. Might have heard of them though.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

Welcome to Virago Headquarters

An old manse is in use for the mercenary headquarters. It is of a Victorian style and a little rundown on the outside, however, the main areas and the rooms are refurbished. It is a work-in-progress. The upper rooms on both the east and west wing are for boarding members while the other rooms downstairs are for the staff.

Pictures of warrior women line the main hall area. Mercenary armors and weapons stand as if on display, but they are in use more than half the time for training and actual battle. Training dummies, conceived by Valerie herself, forged by Ferrum Coordinator, are in the training hall and they are able to launch elemental attacks and spin deadly weapons. Some members have lost limbs fighting these particular training dummies. They are placed on large stone tiles and anchored to the ground.

This overcast morning, Valerie looks up at the sky and wonders why it is reflecting her mood. The dark, agitated clouds obscuring the sun are like the men of power in Nomespin hindering her goals. Well, when they were crushed under her heel and she becomes the Guild Mistress she was meant to be, she would be free of the dark clouds. Free to be the woman of renown throughout the continent; respected and feared. And who knows? Why stop at Guild Mistress? Valerie, Crowned Queen of all Nomespin had a nice ring to it. But one step at a time.

[Attn: Open]

Valerie paced her room. The furnishings were practical, not pretty, and she did not have a jewelry box, but a chest at the foot of her bed full of weapons and sections of armor. The bed was the only thing even semi-decorative. It had posters of deep purple atop the posts, and the posts themselves were hand-carved wood of streaming designs up and down the length of them. Valerie had some sentimental appreciations to make her living quarters comfortable.

It had been raining steadily all morning and into the afternoon. The rain was not a problem though. She was just restless. She tapped her shoes and picked at her kerchief. Marin was supposed to return today, and Carmen had not reported about the informant she had talked to. Joan was just training with the "dumbmen" the nickname for the training dummies. Of course "dumb men" was redundant in her book. Matilda was recovering from a recent mission. Valerie did not like feeling as if she were sitting on her heels, resting on her laurels, or whatever the stupid saying was.

Valerie burst out of her room and shuffled down the stairs at a quick pace. She had heard it. The light click of wooden-shoes on the covered porch. She was at the front door just as Marin faced it also. Valerie lowered her white kerchief that covered the lower part of her face.

[Attn: Marin]

"Marin. I am ecstatic you decided to show up."
She said in a flat tone as if sarcastic, but it obviously was not sarcasm. She was on her tip-toes with excitement. She just was not good at expressing her elation.

Marin just looked at Valerie evenly until the Leader opened the door and let her in. She would not report either until they had sat down in the main hall at one of the tables.
"There is unrest in the Guilds." Marin said with little expression.
"Yeah, sure, great, old news. Carmen has the shit storm covered on that front. Tell me about the mission!"

Marin ordered a hot drink and did not bother to push the rain off of her. She liked being drenched.
"I was able to kill the diplomat, Garius Drudavich. He will not be causing any more trouble for King and Queen Arshield. One of his bodyguards actually spotted me, but by the time I killed him and the diplomat himself the others had no chance to react."

Valerie clapped Marin on the back, causing rain to fly off of her fin-like purple hair.
"Ah! You? Spotted? Must have been a fluke. Either that or you are losing your touch."

Marin shrugged, "Considering his reaction time. He felt my presence. Sensory magic."
Valerie shook her head, "Oh, tough break, his own magic got him killed."
Marin just nodded her head in response. She would rather not have had to kill more than her target. Marin then placed the payment on the table.
It was a heavy sack of coins.

Valerie gave a grin as she picked up the sack and it clinked. She knew by the weight and sound that it was indeed gold. Her grin widened, she was used to getting an estimate by hand. It was a ritual of hers at this point.
"You were paid... half again the amount settled?"
Marin nodded.
"Let. me. guess... Accuracy of the kill and not being spotted by anyone left alive?"
Marin nodded again.

"HAH! Knew it! Always above and beyond with you. I could not expect less."
Valerie said as she doled out the gold coins.
Marin stopped her, "Give my portion to the self-defense shelter. They have been lacking funds for gear."
Valerie did not argue. She had tried to give Marin her own portion before, but the fish-woman would just sneak it back into Valerie's room or leave it at the door, neatly wrapped, and with a note saying where it should go.

"Marin, Marin, you took a load off my shoulders. Now, I just need Carmen's report to have all the information needed to solidify my plans and send everyone back out on perfectly assigned missions."
Valerie said and fiddled with her gauntlet. She swung her mace around absently.
Marin was always amused at how restless the younger woman was. Valerie was never in her element until she was setting her plans in action.

No one ever saw Valerie like this though. Even other members of Virago did not see her in this state usually. Only when Marin was here and the Hall was empty. The servants purposely did not pay attention. It put Valerie on edge if they showed they noticed.

[ATTN: OPEN]

Correia gulped, looking at the ruddy estate. It looked like it was half falling apart! Unlike most other women in this country, she was one of indecision. The few she had made turned her down to this path, but most of the time, she looked to others for guidance. Her friends helped her with lunch choices, her family decided her study path for her, and in essence, she was as scatterbrained as any. This brought on quite a bit of teasing and a little bit of shyness in the girl, but she mustered up the courage to open up the door after a little indecision as to how she should go about doing so.

"Hello? Here for Virago..." A quick surroundings check found that torches were lit in the front entrance, good for enhancing if necessary. Far more pleasant than on the outside, there were well-painted walls, nice armours and weapons, and, from what she could decipher, an unhealthy obsession with warrior women. One side of her wanted to reach out for the broadsword, but she shook her head. After all, she had a very sharp and dangerous claymore of her own. This looked to be an entrance hall, with no one there at the moment.

She took the time to straighten out her armoured purple skirt, and then pull out her claymore, ready to fight all that came her way. In a low stance, with her blade pointed to the front, she slowly advanced, always ready and on the lookout. "This isn't a trap, is it? I really, REALLY don't like traps..." One would suppose no one really LIKED being trapped, but an absent-minded girl like her would make that mistake.

A scurrying servant tapped her on the shoulder, and she quickly reacted, pulling fire from four torches, putting them out and morphing her claymore into a long, intricate red blade. The blanche steel turned a hint of auburn, and had extended another inch or two, and the hilt became much more royal in nature. The armour itself had tinted itself red, but without enough resources, all it could do was such. Twisting and pointing the blazing battlesword at the servant, she frowned. "It's a TRAP!"

[Attn: Correia]

Despite not being in view, Valerie and Marin both turn to look towards the front door when they heard someone approach and come in. Their sentries at certain windows did not shoot their visitor down, so it must be a guest of sorts. They both heard some mention of Virago from a female voice. Marin went to stand and was drawing her sword, but Valerie stilled her by putting a hand to her shoulder, and got up herself. She paced over toward the front door and could see a young, dark-haired woman in armor. Valerie could tell she was probably around her own age despite the lady's childish face. The woman started babbling about traps and ended up drawing a sword against one of the staff assigned to greet guests.

"It's a TRAP!"
The woman shouted.

Valerie produced an illusion which made herself seem to melt into the floor and rise out in front of the armed and armored visitor just a step or two away from her blazing claymore. (Although she took her time and just walked over to the woman as normal, taking the place of the illusory Valerie.) Valerie gave her a steely stare which caught the light of the fire in her cold blue eyes.
"A trap?"
Valerie asked rhetorically with a low chuckle.
"IF I wanted my Virago maidens to capture you in a trap, you would never stand here at our headquarters. Bagged, tagged, and shipped off to whoever put a price on your head. That is where you'd be."
Valerie stated flatly and kept her stare directly into the other woman's eyes.

The attendant gave a respectful bow to the leader and walked off with a quick pace.
"State your business here, and sheath your weapon before I take offense at your display. Gloria, the attendant you scared, already has I'm sure."

Correia gulped... this wasn't good at all. She pissed off the master of the guild! Sheathing her sword in the scabbard (immediately dispelling the enchant), and putting her hands behind her back, she stared down at her feet. drawing lines on the ground... almost childishly, as if she had taken a cookie from the cookie jar and it broke... "Oops" was all she could muster, before explaining her situation.

She needed a place to stay after living off the land for about a year, doing odd jobs... some which she wasn't proud of. Killing people made her squeamish, though it was necessary for her to survive. Some parts were overly detailed, while others were not detailed enough, and it made her sound very indecisive. That wouldn't be a bad indicator of her, and Correia could use a shot of confidence. "So... I sort of want to join... if you'd have me."

[Attn: Correia]

Valerie watched without expression as the woman not only put up her sword, but she also put her hands behind her back and said "oops" of all things. Valerie did not blink. The armored woman stood there and explained a whole year of roughing it on her own. She even admitted to killing if necessary despite her reservations. The woman detailed some experiences, glossed over others, and Valerie just crossed her arms and began tapping her foot impatiently. The woman finished with asking to join Virago.

There was a long pause. A loud noise of fire spraying out in a blast was heard down the hall. A young woman's voice shouted and then the clang of a sword hitting something.
"So..." Valerie said and paused again, but for a shorter time.
"Don't have a name? Can't even introduce yourself before giving some spiel about your life?"
Her foot still tapping, her arms still crossed. Her hard eyes were gauging, trying to lay bare every aspect of the other woman: her heart, her life, her fears, her weaknesses. She did not give the woman a chance to respond.
"Forget it."

As Valerie finished speaking, Marin walked up with barely a click of her wooden sandals and without a word to stand a step to the left of Valerie. Joan, sweating from her training session and sporting a few burns on her sparring outfit, walked up as well. She puffed to get stray strands of her orange hair out of her mouth and pinched the strands together to place them back behind her right ear.
"Ah! So we have a guest? Or maybe a new Virago applicant? Ooh! I like the knightly armor despite its weight, but her choice in swords could improve."
She said while scrunching her nose at the claymore. Joan had her silver-gilded rapier in its sheath and was carrying her small shield.
"This is Valerie, our illustrious, if dour, leader. I am Joan Marx. And the scaled silent one is Marin Vertine. What is your name?"
Joan indicated to each person as she made introductions and then held her white gloved hand out in askance to Correia.

[ATTN: Mostly Joan, since she's scared to death of Valerie]

Correia couldn't help but feel like she was on trial. After all, making mistake after mistake was excruciating, but this woman was just... cruel. She felt like she was about to burst into tears, but that was definitely not something she could do. After all, this was a strong woman, and as far as she knew, the leader thought of her as a stereotypical girl! Instead, she just stood silent, hands behind her back, taking all of the emotional abuse she could possibly take. At the point she was about to leave, Correia considered pulling the rest of the fire out of the hall, just to try to stop her, but that might be a mental trap... Correia didn't know what to do, until...

"Ah! So we have a guest?" Another voice popped up behind the stoic leader, while another silent girl approached her as well. A comment about her sword had her feeling snubbed, but she kept in mind that this was likely all a test. Feeling a little more comfortable, she sighed and smiled at the sign of amiability. Keeping in mind not to take her gauntlet off, she took the hand and gave it a vigorous shake.

"Correia Sympatrica, at your service." She took a couple of steps back before huffing. "I really DO want to join, I do... just... forgive my quirks, if you would please." Another of her long list of idiosyncrasies included this habit of apologetic murmurs. Pulling away a strand of her long auburn locks simply because it was bothering her eyesight, she began to think of questions to ask... finally remembering the only one she cared about, she curiously inquired, "What is the guild's KEY motive? I've heard lots about these three As, but that's what most guilds I've visited have gone for. What do you want to do with your fame?"

[Attn: Correia]

Valerie shook her head slowly, "Introductions are out of the way. What a relief."
She said flatly, and looked to Marin with an unusual expression. It was harsh in a way, but a slight grin pulled at the edges of her lips.

"Virago, for all intents and purposes, acts like a Guild, but we have not achieved becoming a Guild yet. This is a mercenary unit for now."
Joan replied, disregarding Valerie's statement.
Valerie gave a smoldering expression in Joan's direction. Joan was always very direct, so Valerie did not take offense, but it always aggravated her to be reminded that Virago had not yet achieved Guild status.

"As for joining, and the um, 3 A's, well, I would help, but Valerie...?"
She looked to the leader for permission or some clue of what Valerie wanted to do.

"Women will rule. This age is backward, its people lost in male mentalities. Virago is the wave of change that will refashion Nomespin to the wishes of the greater gender. Our fame is a tool, a means to this end."
Valerie stated with the most emotion she had shown yet, which was determined fervor that built with a fire behind her eyes, but she was not loud or overly expressive... just downright serious.

"Want to join, Correia? No men. No running back to family. Screw your 'quirks!' Iron them out. A mercenary maiden must not be weak, simpering, or spineless."
She said the last bit with a glare at Correia, implying she thought she was lacking in the spine department. Again, she did not give Correia an opening to reply or argue her case.

"Joan," Valerie said.
The young fencer turned to her with a small bow.
"Take her, test her, get her acting like a woman of worth, and I'll consider her application. Carmen's coming in with an information gauntlet, and I don't have time for this."
Valerie's form flickered like the flames in the metal torches, and she vanished from sight.

Joan's face scrunched a little at the mention of Carmen, but she just bowed before her leader disappeared.
"Yes, my Lady."

Marin looked at Correia with a gauging expression of her own, slightly narrowing her round, yellow eyes, but her face softened (if that's possible) and her eyes relaxed as if she were smiling behind them.
"Welcome."
She said in a deep, yet beautiful voice. She was a serious woman, but far from harsh. She walked off to go back to the dining area and finish her drink. Her purple cape fluttered with her smooth movements.

Joan watched her walk away, then turned back to Correia and cleared her throat, "Well then, I suppose you are paired with me for now. Valerie tends to allocate new recruits to one of the older members. To be honest though, I'm relatively new myself. I've only been here for 2 years."
She finished with an uneasy smile remembering what she went through in the first year.
"Follow me, I will escort you to your room, and 'when' you pass everything they will become your new living quarters!"
She said with a pleasant smile, trying to ease the nerves of the new recruit. Her soft-green eyes motioned to the stairs.

[ATTN: Joan]

Correia sighed, THAT was over, though she wasn't going to go through that again. After all, her family did approve of a cause, and as far as she was concerned, championing the rights of the other sex did just that, though she still felt mighty uncomfortable. Uniformity wasn't something Correia was excited about, but for now, she could live in solace that she was about to finally do something of worth.

Valerie almost melted away from her sight, and she flinched... "Wow, that's... odd." Marin's luscious voice left quite the impression, as did Joan's. Correia was beginning to feel a little more at-peace here, and Joan seemed to help that thought process along, the older member helping with her insecurities. "Alright, then!" A more confident Correia began to follow her new mentor.

Having gotten ahead of Joan somehow, she bounded up the stairs, metal clattering on marble every step, before realizing she had no idea where she was going. She waited for Joan to catch up with her, and then walked alongside her, making sure she paced herself with Joan. A little self-control went a long way, as her friends have constantly told her. Correia's soft-spoken voice popped up again, mostly in a thankful tone. "I appreciate everything you're going to be doing for me, you and the entire guild... Honestly, I don't know where I'd be!" A soft and shy smile crept onto her face, as she walked in bewilderment of the masterful job of the refurbishment.

The entire hall was painted a deep violet, unlike the more neutral colours of the entrance hall. Correia couldn't help but notice all of the little things, the chandeliers hanging from the ceilings each had their own distinct shapes, each painting of strong woman past was grandiose and timeless, and even the floor rugs were regal in their own right. Uneasily fidgeting throughout the walk, she couldn't help but wonder... "So, how'd you end up here? You probably know my life story by now." Another sheepish little laugh escaped from her mouth, and she tried to cover it up. "Sorry."

Virago Empty Re: Virago

[Attn: Marin, Open]

Nymeria quietly walked up to the front doors of Virago. She couldn't believe how heavy her feet felt when she was only a few inches from the door handle. Nymeria knew she had plenty of mercenary work and kills under her belt, but would the guild accept her? All she heard about the guild was that it only housed females and dealt with mercenary jobs. It could be a perfect fit for Nymeria, and she could care less about the guild's goals. All she wanted was a place where she would matter. A place where she could leave the memories of the past behind. A place where her life had meaning. Besides, how could she let the opinions of others hold her back? She was a grown woman in spirit despite being housed inside a 20 year old body.

After mustering up the courage to step inside, Nymeria slowly opened the door and walked inside. She saw two other women disappear from sight as they climbed a marble staircase. That left Nymeria all to herself. The assassin decided to remove her mask so she wouldn't appear so mysterious to anyone who watched her pass. She then wandered into the dining area. There was another woman finishing her beverage. Nymeria walked up to the stranger and tried to get her attention in the most polite possible tone.

"Excuse me," Nymeria said. "I'm looking to join this guild. Do you know where I can go to apply? My name is Nymeria, by the way."

[Attn: Correia]

As Joan walked up the stairs, Correia actually ran past her clacking against the marble in her armor. Joan was not sure why anyone ever wore such heavy equipment, but she was highly biased to lighter gear and weapons. At Correia's display though, waiting up on the stairs, Joan could not help but shake her head and chuckle.

When Joan caught up to her, Correia spoke in her soft voice a little after getting into stride with the fencer, "I appreciate everything you're going to be doing for me, you and the entire guild... Honestly, I don't know where I'd be!"

"Oh, of course Correia, it is our duty to help women in need, even those who would join our ranks. I am glad for your appearance here. You show a lot of excitement and energy. Things were getting dull here with how serious some other members can be."
Joan commented what she was thinking as she almost always did.

Correia was silent for a bit while taking in the decor, but she spoke up just as Joan was about to show her which room would be hers. She had asked Joan about how she ended up in Virago, and said that Joan should know her story by now.
"Actually, I was in a fierce battle with a training dumbman." She still sort of giggled at the name they had for the dummies.
"So I missed your tale before, but no worries, I'm a good listener."
She raised a white-gloved hand to the side of her face and thought a moment.
"I... was assigned here actually. I used to be a Lieutenant in the Royal Guard for Prince Tarren."
She said with a fond smile and it was obvious a few memories past by her eyes. She focused back on Correia.
"Heh, some don't believe me, but the Prince himself assigned me here. Lord Tarren assured me that I could get the best training in the field working under Valerie of Virago. I was startled at the sudden honor and scared of leaving at the time, believe me, but I do not question his decision. It has indeed been a revelation working here, and I have priceless experience from this station."

Joan gave another pleased grin, and showed Correia graciously to her room as a servant would. The room itself was refurbished with dark wooden floors, a well-fashioned twin bed, a few dressers and a closet. On the far right end, there was a small bathroom with its own metal tub, a porcelain toilet, and a small mirror/sink combo. It was minimal, but all the necessities were present.

_________________________________________________________________________

[Attn: Nymeria]

Sipping her hot coffee and enjoying the steam coming off of it, Marin sat placidly as another woman, another stranger, just walked right into Virago headquarters and approached her. Either the sentries were lazing about, or they were uncharacteristically discerning. She decided on the latter. No one lazed about with Valerie in the building.

The woman who walked up to her was... different, and not just her appearance. The electrical energy coming off of her was - "off" - somehow muted and powerful at the same time in such a subtle way. However, Marin was not unsettled by this. She had come across many strange people in her line of work.

"Excuse me, I'm looking to join this guild. Do you know where I can go to apply? My name is Nymeria, by the way."
She said in a very polite tone.

Marin finally looked up, yellow eyes meeting the red. The yellow was very pleased by what was found in the red.
"Valerie is busy. I am Marin."
She replied and took another sip of her coffee.
"Nymeria, I will take your application myself." She sips, savors her drink, "Sit."
She said and motioned to the chair across from her. This would not be the first time she handled the process alone.

Correia looked at her with bewilderment... "Prince Tarren? Lieutenant, what?!?" A little exasperation was in her voice. "What's he like, all my friends keep on saying all this stuff about him, mostly that he's handsome, but no one really knows!" Correia coughed a little bit, gossipy stuff was probably a little frowned upon. Lifting up her breastplate for a bit, she allowed herself to aerate slightly before putting it back on. Noting that Joan was about to open the door, she watched intently.

As the door opened, Correia couldn't help but smile quite a bit. There were the necessities here, and far more. Enough space for her (really only) set of armour, alongside some clothes, a softer bed than the ground, and even some porcelain! This, she could get used to. "My, my..." However, now, she was going to have to earn her spot here. Walking over to the closet, she found it to be little more than empty, and huffed. "What am I going to do when I'm not on duty?" She murmured to herself, not remembering that Joan was in the room.

Walking back to Joan now, she was thinking of beginning training immediately, after all, that's why she was here. "So... what do we do now? Training's always good, but if we have somewhere to go and do things, that's fine too." Pulling out her less than ornate claymore, she frowned a little bit. She'd have to patch the small chinks up, that, or get a new weapon. "Steel wasn't made to take on nature's elements... It's a pity, 'cause I've had this one for a while."

Nymeria took her seat as she studied the strange woman. Her eyes were yellow, her skin scaly, and her hair as purple as her cape. Nymeria would find her a bit unsettling if she wasn't such an odd job herself, but nobody would know for now. It was the first time Nymeria showed her bare face to a stranger. Deep down, she hoped this decision wouldn't ruin her in the future, but it would be easier to trust a bare face than trusting one hidden behind a mask.

Nymeria sat comfortably with her legs slightly apart and her arms crossed on her belly. She held her mask by the strap with her right hand as she silently eyed the guild member before her. She never thought about the expression she displayed on her face, otherwise she would have noticed that she was staring with cold, piercing eyes.

[Attn: Correia]

Joan made a curious grin and looked up in thought, she still showed off the room as she talked, "Oh, the Prince of Sarrice? My he is different. He is two years my junior, that would make him 22 now, and yet he is so mature for his years."
Her grin widened as she gave a knowing look to Correia, "Yes, he is very handsome. Most people do not see him since he acts a bit shy of the public being so new to his position. He is always surrounded by guards and his advisers. Brown-haired, soft blue eyes, tall, broad-shouldered, quite the figure to him. His voice though... that is the best part of him. Honeyed steel, firm and kind, carries with presence, and flows like a melody. The perfect bard's voice."
She said with a sigh, but then she blushed, realizing how she sounded.
"I love his voice. Not the Prince himself. He could not marry one of my low birth anyway, even if I was interested."
She said and waved away the notion.

Joan passed by the window after she showed off the room and made a down turned expression at the storming clouds. She hated such depressing days.

"My, my..." Correia said.
Joan looked back at her and noticed the knightly woman seemed pleased with her possible new living arrangements.
Walking over to the closet, Correia found it to be little more than empty, and huffed. "What am I going to do when I'm not on duty?"
Joan covered her mouth with a gloved hand and giggled, "Oh, do not worry. You will have time and the funds to purchase some clothes. We give a stipend to new members."

When Correia commented about training and her sword though, Joan gave a complicated expression.
"Ah-hmm, here at Virago our testing and training is a bit... different than at the Guilds. Some of our best warriors will attack you in formation, and then one of our senior members will test your duel capabilities. Your magic skills are then tested outside of combat. Placement here is not just one value. You will have a Rank for these categories: Magic, if you have any, Control of magic and skills, Physical prowess, Accomplishment, and Renown. All of these are averaged together to get your overall Ranking. We are very thorough. Then you are sent on one mission with a group. If you prove yourself within the group dynamic, then your admission into Virago is complete."

Joan motioned for her to leave the room to go back to the training hall downstairs.
"Come now, your initiation training will commence as soon as we get to the training hall. As for your sword, most things like that are handled at Ferrum Coordinator or by a blacksmith on the way during missions."

Giggles erupted from her mouth at the soapiness of Joan's demeanour regarding the prince. It was almost as if she were Angelique from back in the City, what with her gushing and her feminine joy at the Prince's mention. "Ooooh... I see. No need to say any more." Stifling laughs every now and then between the younger, yet older woman's childish behaviour. As for Correia, the clouds didn't seem to bother her... in fact, she felt a little excited at the opportunity. "I hope lightning strikes... I've never been lucky enough to try lightning out before." It seems that the girl could forge forward with a little reckless abandon at times. After all, just a few minutes before, Correia seemed so timid.

At the prospect of training incredibly hard, and being tested by other members, though, she shrank incredibly. Every daunting task that she had laid out before her got her more and more riled up and scared. A formation versus one woman? That was hard to handle, but a duel? Against someone who was probably far more adept than she was at every skill possible? Correia began shaking in her boots, almost literally. However, she did end up calming herself down enough to look a little more like a woman of Virago. "Alright... so to the training hall?" Shakily, she made her way towards the training hall, which intimidated her before she even went in.

It turned out that her fear became much worse. Her babyish face flushed red with fear against what looked to be far more dangerous training dummies, and these were the easy things. With a little prodding, she managed to come face to face with one, claymore drawn. A taunt from one of the less prominent members (akin to "People have lost limbs here, are you in the right place, PRINCESS?") mounted the pressure, and the dummy got turned on. Quickly, a slash came from the right, and Correia nimbly parried, before getting struck with one of the concussive arms.

The gyrating blades looked far more menacing on her back. Almost as if it knew that Correia was in a bad position, it began raining down stabs and slashes below, forcing her to parry difficult shots from her backside. She had to dodge the pincers and stabbers before the dumbman breathed out fire... this was her opportinity. She leapt back up and sucked up all the magical, pure flames, looking like a whole new knight.

Her blade became a dark crimson, with a far broader, more noble looking blade. Swirls lined the flat surfaces, while the hilt became bejeweled with what looked to be rubies. Correia's armour grew at the shoulderblades, jutting spikes out of the now large shoulderpieces. Her greaves and her gauntlets also grew spiky scarlet grooves, and her breastplate now had an insignia of a dragon. The moment this occurred, the dummy went into overdrive, beginning to swing harder and faster, but Correia seemed EASILY up to the task, swinging her regal claymore with style and flair. Even a direct hit to the midsection didn't stop her (though it pushed her back quite a bit,) as she began to mount a skillful offensive with her blade, swinging at each arm until none of them were left...

"That was a little less difficult than what I expected!" A sweet giggle from her erupted before the magic dissipated from her arms, reverting to her old state. Her claymore looked FAR WORSE for wear, but was still functional.

[Attn: Correia]

Joan narrowed her eyes at the other woman when she laughed at her. She was not exactly angry, but her laughter was unappreciated.
"I was not fawning over the man, please. I just enjoyed being in the Royal Guard and hearing the Prince's voice. I am a bard myself, and I appreciate battle and song."
She said and tried to become a bit more stern. But her face cracked and she laughed a little.
"I suppose I sounded a tad giddy, but not for the reasons most women are."
She admitted.

Joan seemed pleased at Correia's statement about using lightning.
"You can harness elements? An impressive power. We came across a man in the Blazing Swords with that magic, but he spat it out of his mouth! It was terrible!"
She said and although her expression was a bit pained she laughed.

They went down the stairs and headed to the Training Hall. There were only three other women in there, but they made sure to jeer at Correia, and although Joan did not approve, she also did not chide them. Instead she focused as Correia jumped into fighting one of the dumbmen.

[Attn: Nymeria]

Long Marin stared at the other woman's eyes, gauging the stare of the other. There was a coldness, and emptiness there, but still this did not unsettle Marin. She glanced down at the black mask with crimson fangs. Marin liked this new recruit.

"Moments ago, another new one entered. When they go to the training hall, I will take you to be tested as well."
She said in a string of slow remarks, deep voice cool and calm. She finished her coffee by the time she was done speaking. She waited for any response from Nymeria.

[Attn: Correia, Nymeria]

After that, there was silence for a solid eight minutes until Joan and Correia came down the marble staircase. Marin stood and motioned for Nymeria to follow after the other two women passed. Correia was immediately tested against a dumbman.

Joan gave an emphatic set of claps with gloved hands as soon as Correia finished fighting he dumbman.
"Impressive work, Correia, that would rate your magic and handling of it at at least a B! Now onto the formation melee battle."
Joan called in two more mercenary women. The five that were present were Camilla, Estelle, Teresa (the one who made the princess comment), Xena, and Isadore. They all varied in rank from E to A.

They took on a V-formation against Correia with Teresa in the center, and Joan motioned for Correia to stand on the opposing side. There were tall torches for lighting and even a fountain nearby which let the training women get a quick drink without having to go to the Bar and Dining Area.

"No worries, they are to strike and defend in melee techniques only, no magic. You, however, can use magic against them. You are to last for 5 minutes without being knocked out or pinned."
As soon as Correia stood up on the stone platform, Joan raised her hand.

"Ready to face all of us, princess who pretends she's a knight? We aren't some set of mindless dumbmen drones. Heh."
Teresa said with an indignant sneer at Correia.
Joan dropped her hand.
"Commence!"

As Joan worked with Correia, Marin nodded toward another functional dumbman. An operator stood behind the contraption ready to set it in motion.
"Disable it." Marin said to Nymeria.

[Attn: Marin]

"Very well." Nymeria responded. She wondered about what kind of training went on in this guild while the silence in the room grew. Perhaps she would end up fighting this other new recruit. Whoever it was, she wouldn't go easy on her. Nymeria then thought about how to display her magic ability. Would she reserve it for when it's most useful, or show it off right from the beginning? She knew her body would get sluggish if she used her power to heavily. That made her think about whether she could end the training as quickly as possible.

Nymeria heard two women approaching the room, and eventually saw a glimpse of the two walking by. Marin gestured the new recruit to follow her, and so she did. In the training room, Nymeria saw the two women she had seen earlier. One of them was the other new girl. Probably the one fighting the dumbman was the new one. Nymeria inspected the contraption before being interrupted by Marin. Her first order was to disable another dumban not too far off. That got Nymeria wondering with sinister smile before she put on her mask. Should she attack the dumbman, or attack the operator? Either way, the dummy would be put out of commission, although one way might be more harmful than the other.

Nymeria faced the dumbman, readying herself for anything. The fight began with a flare of lightning, which Nymeria just managed to evade. She pulled out her knife, twirling it in her fingers and drew closer to the machine. It followed up by striking a jab for Nymeria's neck. She leaned to the side to dodge it, only to by caught by a hook punch from the other hand. Nymeria staggered back a little, but the dumbman didn't relent, shooting out several spinning blades. That's when Nymeria decided she couldn't hold back much longer. She held up her arms to cover her face. The blades dug themselves into her arms and thighs, just what Nymeria wanted.

The woman pulled out the blades from her body one by one, blood staining her sleeves and pants. She then pulled back her sleeves and stood for a small moment, letting the blood flow out of her wounds. The dumbman responded by sending out another chain of lightning. Nymeria sidestepped to dodge the attack. She then sheathed her knife and bolted straight for the dumbman. Droplets of blood dotted the floor as she ran, her scarlet eyes fixed only on one target. Her arms were up and her center of gravity was low.

When Nymeria was within striking distance, the dummy went for a two handed chop aimed at her shoulders. Nymeria blocked with her arms and spun around to the dummy's back. She used the centrifugal forces to her advantage, sending the blood that bled out of her thighs down to her calves. She used her momentum to go into a spinning kick, forming the blood on one of her calves into an axe-like blade. The blade sliced clean through the dumbman's neck. Nymeria followed up by turning the blood on her arms into incredibly thin katanas. She performed a cross slash on the dumbman's body, slicing the top half completely off.

With the dumbman defeated, Nymeria recalled as much blood as she could. The red liquid seeped back into her body through the wounds which they bled out. She could feel that she lost a little, but it wasn't enough to warrant worry. The woman looked over the cleaved dumban back at Marin. "Is this disabled enough?"

Formation melee... looking around, she could only find water and fire, good for speed and offense, but not for defense, especially because this water wasn't magical in nature. Purity is everything in terms of enhancement, and she could feel that there wasn't much of that in the hall. The ground she was standing on was pretty solid and would be hard to enhance weapons with; she would have to do this mostly with regular combat, which freaked her out a little bit, though she was far more careful not to show it. Drawing her claymore, she shot her hand out.

Drawing water from the fountain, she applied it to her armour, particularly her boots. A tinge of blue applied to the armour, but the effect was not nearly as magnificent as the transformation with magical elements. Her sword was imbued with fire again, creating a robe of fire around it, but not the regal weapon that she was able to conjure with the pure elemental charge of magician's flames. "Ready?" Teresa smirked, she looked to be the most ready of the five in terms of preparation, and began to draw her out with taunts.

"Just... don't even, let the weapons do the talking." Correia was frustrated because she was letting Teresa get the better of her. Gripping her sword tighter, she lowered into her crouch, the long claymore pointed straight at Teresa.

The five minutes began, and the five women surrounded her, each of them in more loose attire. "Come on, little princess, let's do this!" Teresa's jeers put Correia into a fit; she felt very... oddly about her disadvantaged height. Two of them wielded double-daggers, while the rest handled larger weapons (to be specific, one mace, one battle-axe, and one longsword). One of the dual daggers attacked her from behind, attempting to jab her midsection from both sides. In Correia's low crouch, that proved to be a difficult task, as all Correia did was sweep her leg and knock her over, quickly throwing her weapons away. That's when the onslaught occurred. The rest of them charged at her relentlessly, beginning to strike her everywhere.

Correia dodged to the left, parried to the right, and even disarmed the mace-user, but Teresa was relentless with her battleaxe, and the other dagger-user was no joke. Even the inferior swordfighter was able to scratch her a bit on the shoulders. Teresa swung mightily, shattering Correia's blade in two. "Damn it!" Using her slightly increased flexibility, she kicked out, causing the other two to retreat, and spun down to retrieve the lying mace which she kept out of the reach of its original user... which was when Teresa thwacked her on the back with the blunt end of the axe.

"Can't turn your back on me, princess!" She missed with a swing of her mighty axe, but vowed she would not miss twice. Hearing a STOP! from one of the battle-watchers, denoting that five minutes were over, Teresa scoffed. "Keep on going, ladies, let's see what she's made of."

On her face now, she had to react fast. One blow came to her right, and spinning left, she leapt back up and clobbered the sword-user with the mace, causing her to double over in pain. Enhancing it with flames, it turned a bright red, but did not muster much else, since she had used most of the flames enhancing her now broken sword. Teresa smirked, as the swift daggers user threw one of her juttes straight at Correia's arm. While the armour slowed it down, it still pierced through part of her arm. Pulling it out, she threw it back, and the second dagger flew out of her hand... it was just her and Teresa now.

"Just you and me, pretty girl... Think you can do anything without your precious magic?" Teresa was right, her armour was losing its charge...

"Just shut up and fight!" Correia lunged, locking the mace in with her battle-axe... that was her advantage! She grabbed the axe with her other bleeding hand, and attempted to spin Teresa over. Teresa gulped and tried to keep her axe upright. Her efforts were futile, as Correia found it within herself to flip Teresa over and take the axe from her. "Who's the pretty girl now?" Correia dropped it beside her, wincing and clutching her left arm with her right gauntlet.

"What are you hiding on your hands, princess?" Teresa frowned at Correia, and Correia simply snubbed her, keeping her armoured hand on her wound.

[Attn: Nymeria, Correia]

The operator was relentless today, as she had been with Correia. She must have been in a good mood. Nymeria seemed to have a some trouble at first, though her reflexes were impressive. Marin focused on the battle even more when Nymeria was injured. She did not seem to be concerned with the piercing wounds, actually she was pleased. Her blood soon became weapons and with precisely devastating strikes she disable the dumbmen by hacking it to bits. Marin was impressed to say the least.
"Yes."
Was all Marin said in response to Nymeria's question, but she made sure to display a pleased grin. Her slightly serrated teeth flashed in appreciation.

When Correia was training, Joan watched the melee with a sharp eye. Her eyes widened when Correia's sword snapped in two. She had not been kidding about needing repairs. Still, Correia was indeed resourceful, and she was glad that their new member could handle herself.
"STOP! The time is up!"
She called out, but Teresa continued to battle, and spurred the others to do so. Joan narrowed her eyes distastefully at the breach in rules.

"What are you hiding on your hands, princess?" Teresa frowned at Correia, and Correia simply snubbed her, keeping her armoured hand on her wound.

Joan stepped onto the platform and drew her sword. The silvery metal lashed out as it lengthened and widened. She literally just slapped Teresa off of the platform.
"Next time I say stop, you very well stop! Is that clear? You pushed Correia to get needlessly injured! What are we? Valoria or Blazing Swords?"
She sheathed her sword with a jerk instead of her usual smooth motion.
"I think not."

Teresa had sprawled out onto the floor in a dazed state.
"Yeah, okay, I got the picture."
She said while trying to recover. The other mercenaries laughed at her.
Joan glared at them too and they quieted immediately.

Marin actually laughed at what happened, but became serious after only a few chuckles. She looked over to Nymeria.
"Formation melee. Your test is soon, Nymeria."
She motioned an attendant over, and told her in a low voice to bring more women in from the quarters.

The lady bowed and rushed off. Marin took the time to check on the dumbmen operators. Thankfully, there were many parts available for replacement, and the repairs were going quickly, but the one Nymeria fought, the operator was at a loss for the midsection.

"She cut completely through it like it was paper! We are going to have to order some new plates from Ferrum Coordinator. This is the last chest one."
She informed Marin as she replaced it slowly, taking the arm-joints out for a moment to lock the armored plate in. She put the sliced armor in the scrap pile for refashioning. At least they still had plenty of arms, those got repaired and replaced the most.

"Wonderful work Correia, you more than adequately passed, I suppose we will have to let you rest for a day or so to heal before the duel."
She said and helped Correia down. The other mercenary women grudgingly congratulated Correia.

As Joan walked down though she caught sight of another newcomer with red eyes and cuts on her body. Joan slowed and made a disturbed face.
"Ahh... well, who is this, Marin?"

Marin did not look up, "Nymeria. She is also applying."
Joan gave a sideways look at the woman, she did not trust her, "Ah-huh... I see."

Three more women came in: Dalia, Verdelle, and Claudia. Teresa recovered and so did Estelle so they took the platform. They all seemed bored and even though the red-eyed woman was unsettling, they tried to act like they did not notice.
"Let's hurry it up. I have other things to do with my time."
Claudia said as she tapped her finely made shoes impatiently and tugged on her gloves, ready to strike, throw, and grapple.

Marin nodded to Nymeria, "At your ready. 5 minutes, survive without knock out or pin."
Teresa did not take the fore of the V-formation this time, Claudia did.

She gave a feral grin at Nymeria.
"I might look like a demure, high-class lady, but don't underestimate me. I'm MUCH stronger than I look. I don't need a pansy-ass weapon."

Nymeria saw the smile on Marin's face and heard an approving "Yes.". That was all Nymeria needed to know she was a step closer to getting in. When Marin called for a formation melee, Nymeria was unsure of what that meant until she saw five women step onto a platform. Nymeria also made her way to the area, sizing up the other fighters. She remembered seeing Teresa Estelle, but the other three were completely new. The group took on a V formation against Nymeria, with the unarmed one taking point. That meant Nymeria was in a 5 on 1 situation...All she had to do was survive 5 minutes.

The assassin had some choice words in reply for the grappler's taunt, but she decided to hold them back, lest she make the woman more feral. Oh, if I wanted to hurry this up, you'd be surely dead. Nymeria thought to herself. She then calculated what to do for each opponent, not even appearing to be phased by Claudia's words. One had a battle ax, which meant lots of openings. One had two daggers; she would be quick and possibly the most dangerous. Two had polished swords which would be a large threat or a mere distraction. And then there was the unarmed one. With her being up front, she could easily knock Nymeria down.

That gave Nymeria her plan; run through the front and target the knifed mercenary first. Get her out of the match as quick as possible, then go after the nearest sword user, and after that, handle Claudia. That was all she had for the moment. She couldn't afford purposely taking a hit to draw blood, so she took out her knife, hoping to unnerve some of the opponents before her. Nymeria ran the edge of her knife down from the back of her hands to her forearms and down her shins. The blood quickly dripped from the wounds.

Nymeria charged Claudia head on, only to send her dagger spinning straight towards the woman's body. With no weapons to block the incoming blade, Claudia swat it away, surprised. That gave Nymeria the chance to jump as high as she could and land one foot on Claudia's shoulder. She then vaulted right off, aiming her decent on the knife user in the back. She was prepared, though, as she gave a swipe at Nymeria as she fell. Nymeria blocked the attack with one arm and landed her foot on the knife user's shoulder, knocking her to the mat. With one fluid movement, she dislocated one of the kine user's arms and rolled off of her. The woman grunted in pain as she lied on the platform. The maneuver left smeared blood on the mat, which Nymeria took notice of.

She went after the sword user in a way where Claudia was farthest away. The user slashed at the air while the rest of the group closed in. Nymeria ducked under the blade and made scythe-like blades out of the blood on her arms, and then used them to trip up the sword user. Nymeria was still crouching when Teresa brought down her mighty ax. "You're pretty quick for a little runt!" She said as her ax fell. Nymeria barely managed to dodge Teresa, leaving her in an awkward position. Claudia took the opportunity up and gave one fell ax kick. It left Nymeria sprawled on the ground with a sharp pain in her neck. With no other means of escape, Nymeria manipulated the blood on the floor to rise up as deadly spikes, threatening to impale anyone who was an inch too close. She rolled out into an open spot, and got to her feet.

It was amusing seeing the women frozen in place as bloody spires practically touched their chins. Claudia gave a strange look to Nymeria as she eased away from the spikes. "What kind of freak are you?" She asked as she barreled around and straight at the weary opponent.

"One that's about to kick your ass." Nymeria murmured as she sent the blood on the floor after Claudia's wrists. Claudia was about to give one of the most punishing punches of all time if Nymeria's blood hadn't wrapped around it and slowed it to a avoidable speed. Nymeria grabbed Claudia's arm, turned her body so she was facing away, held the brute's elbow on her shoulder and pulled down with all the strength she could muster. There was a satisfying crunch and a string of curses that would even leave an impression on the devil. Nymeria felt she was done with Claudia until she felt blunt force slamming her in the back. Nymeria fell to her knees as Claudia fell to her own. The woman had delivered a heavy knee to the back as a response for getting her elbow bent the wrong way.

"Looks like the bloody rat is finally gonna get some payback." Teresa commented as she stood over the gasping Nymeria. The blow had knocked the wind right out of her, and something didn't feel right in her body. Teresa kicked Nymeria square in the face, sending her on her back. Nymeria grunted as she coughed, feeling as if her strength had instantly vanished. She could sense her energy draining, but she barely managed to scrape through with the 5 minutes passed. Teresa and the others who still stood could see the weakness in Nymeria's eyes, but there was something else shown inside them. Teresa shrugged off the feeling and walked off the platform with the rest of the mercenaries. Nymeria winced as she got to one knee, clutching her chest tightly. She needed new blood, and quickly.

[ATTN: Joan]

Correia grimaced, taking her hand off the wound. The dagger had dug into her skin, and her gauntlet was bloodied... blushing, she took the gauntlet off, revealing her very burned hand. Correia thought it looked absolutely disgusting, but she had to remember that she was lucky to even have her hands. After all, this injury was a little less serious than it looked, because the dagger only dug so deep. Taking all the compliments in stride, she slumped on a bench, watching the five-minute battle.

"Joan, where can we go to get this bandaged up?" She pointed her finger at the wound, which was now bleeding out over the wine fabric of the under-dress of the armour slowly. She wandered around again before another pang of anguish set in. The pain was not ignorable; she slumped on the side of the bench rails. Correia was determined not to cry, she wasn't the weak little girl that walked into Virago just hours ago anymore, and this wasn't even a mortal wound... This was almost like a boo-boo in a knight's world. Time to grow up.

"And what am I going to do about a weapon? I made that one last as long as I could... Steel just doesn't take to elements well, as I've said." A couple of grunts were made, but Correia stuck with it... sucking it up, Correia looked around at her armour... which was starting to show distress. Damn it, this was not going well for her. Nothing seemed to be, and the few things that were, seemed to not matter at all right now. Nothing was going the way she wanted it to, and she summed it up in one statement.

"This SUCKS."

Just then, Nymeria was kicked brutally by Teresa, something completely unwarranted. Rising up, sliding her gauntlets back on, she was going to give Teresa a piece of her mind. "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?" She stomped up to her and began to yell the heck out of Teresa, after all, that was completely unfair! "You call yourself a fighter? Really? You think THAT'S what fighting's about, kicking people when they're down?"

"She could have gotten back up, I had to-"

"LIKE FUCKING HELL YOU 'HAD TO'! HAVE SOME RESTRAINT!" Correia stormed away, tired of Teresa. "Joan... can we PLEASE go? She's getting on my nerves..."

[Attn: Nymeria, Correia]

Marin watched intently as Nymeria faced her five opponents. Her movements were fluid and well-trained, she had a little trouble in close-quarters with such seasoned fighters, but she held her own using her reflexes well to dodge attacks. Marin blinked at the blood spikes Nymeria sent up for a very deadly defense. She was then able to wrap Claudia's attack and hyper-extend her arm till it broke. Claudia was still able to get another attack in, and the time was up. Teresa walked forward and kicked Nymeria in the face. Marin narrowed her eyes at the woman.

During this time, Joan was watching Correia with some concern. The woman's injury was nothing too terrible, but her hand... it was so burned.
"Oh, dear, Correia... your hand. Is the other one just as bad? Do not worry, we can get your wound expertly treated. Your sword and armor will have to be repaired or replaced by Ferrum Coordinator. Despite our desire to be self-sufficient, we have not yet been able to set up a blacksmith here. Please, do not let yourself be so unsettled, everything will be fine, I am sure."
She said trying to console the other woman. The initiation tests were pretty strenuous, Correia was doing better than some women had.

Suddenly, Correia stood up and began shouting at Teresa when she kicked Nymeria down. Joan knew Marin would handle things so she just followed Correia as she stormed off.
"Yes, let us head to the infirmary for now."

Marin was in front of Teresa in a blur of movement. Teresa cringed when she registered who was now suddenly blocking her path.
"Respect, Teresa. Joan warned you."
She said and her hand whipped out to grab Teresa by the shoulder, and then her forearm. The woman was launched half-way across the training hall. She collided with a section of the raised platform and lay there gasping. The other mercenaries did not go anywhere near her to help. Marin walked up to Nymeria who seemed to be very weak.

Claudia was on the outer edge of the platform and she shoved her elbow back into place. Her muscles visibly rippled under her skin. The joint clicked as it reset and she worked her elbow. It was stiff, but completely recovered. Her magic allowed her own body to heal at remarkable rates. She looked up and seemed concerned for Nymeria too as she watched Marin approach her.

"Tell me what you need. We can provide."
Marin stated.

[Attn: Carmen, Closed]

Valerie scoped the training hall for a bit without being noticed. Her illusions causing her to look like a decorative item here, or a blurring of the atmosphere similar to the heat rising off the torches. She took note of the two new applicants. Marin spoke to one of the operators for Valerie's sake. Marin would know Valerie was possibly around, and always checked on things for her. After Nymeria's formation melee was passed though she walked out, not concerned for what had happened or how Teresa had acted. She dropped her illusory cover after heading to the stairs, and would not have been seen by Joan or Correia.

Carmen was already at the top of the stairs. Valerie gave an aggressive-looking smirk.
"Finally, were you caught up braiding your informant's hair?"
Carmen rolled her head and shrugged smoothly, "Not this time."

When Valerie reached the top they walked to her room. Valerie closed the door.
"Report."

Carmen was viewing her nails and checking her clothes. Her staff of servants made sure the rain had not touched her, but she wanted to be sure she was impeccable as always.
"Relating to the Guilds, their Keys have been stolen. These artifacts are very important and were entrusted to each of the Guild Headmasters."

Valerie did not blink.
"Culprit or accomplices?"
Carmen steepled her fingers as she took a seat at the drab table. Valerie sat across from her.
"Considering how easily it was done, my informant is certain there are infiltrators in each of the Guilds, but there is no solid evidence. Also, Dark Ascension seems to be the perpetrators, but their motives are unclear."

"Go figure." Valerie stated with an emphatic roll of her eyes.
Carmen gave more details as she saw fit, including mentioning possible high-priority quests. Valerie perked up at mention of a healer.
"A healer woman, in Sarrice, spotted in Essentia?"
She asked quickly. Their infirmary was well-stocked, and their doctor with her nurses were adequate, but there was nothing like a magical healer to further put the balance in Virago's favor.
"Yes, there are posters up. Someone is trying to find her. No one knows much other than that she is a dancer who's stage name is Clementia and she was wearing a purple wig."

Valerie smiled to herself. She was glad there was a lot going on to keep her busy. Things had been much too slow lately.
"Rest up for the night; make preparations. I will assign the quests tomorrow. Inform everyone."

Carmen gave a small, sly smile, "I have a feeling I will be the one to track down the healer."
Valerie stood up and showed her the door, "Possible, but don't be so sure. There are so many uses for your expertise."

"Oh, I am flattered. Really, Valerie." She replied, she had been fishing for a compliment.
Carmen walked out and told some servants the news to let everyone know to be prepared for assignments tomorrow and get rest tonight.

Correia sighed... "I've done everything I could have for my hands, it was an old injury from the first time I discovered I could actually... you know, put fire onto weapons. It was a wooden sword and... well, wood and fire don't go well together. I learned from that, though." She gets up and walks alongside Joan towards the medical station, taking some time to look at her armour. Fragmentations lined the breastplate, threatening to split into two at its next use, while her elbow and knee guards showed signs of rusting and fragmenting. Her gauntlets started to have some of the plating on the fingers fall out, and her greaves were in grave danger. However, this DID give her an idea...

Correia put a finger on her chin, almost in deep contemplation at the idea. Entertaining it for a bit, she finally spoke up, "Does Ferrum deal with metals that aren't steel? Hear me out, but if I had something made in all SILVER or another metal that doesn't require coal to strengthen it, I might be able to use my magic on them without worry that they will fracture or the like." Just a thought, but if it would help her in the long run because her stuff would stay in far better condition, and in the short run because silver was a good arms metal, cost was a trifle... though it would cost Virago a pretty penny.

Reaching the medical station, Correia noticed an inordinately high amount of moaning going on in here. The stories were true, she supposed, a couple of people WERE missing a limb or even two. Peg legs were on standby for those who lost a real leg, but what could the medical girls do about arms, she thought? Those unlucky enough to lose their arms really couldn't do much, though they were very few and far in number, Correia supposed. The room itself was just as elegant as every other, though seemed a little drearier. That probably came from the gray decor, though there were still the same paintings of warrior women around. Lighting came from wall mounts and candles. One of the girls walked up to her.

"Need medical attention?" She said in her silky voice. Correia nodded shyly, as she did with any new person she met. Quickly, another woman came and removed her armour, and though they were a little moved by the burns on her hands, the two medic girls have seen it before. While unlatching the midsection of her form-fitting armour, one of the girls giggled while removing her gauntlets to mask the slight spook. "Playing with fire, huh?"

"You said it..." A sheepish giggle erupted from her mouth while her armour was being removed, revealing the deep red dress she was wearing. The bow on the dress was a definite personal touch while the rest of the dress was remarkably plain, with two separate tones of the reddish-wine colour. After all the armour was taken off, it was lain beside a bed which Correia was quickly placed on. Asked to lower her dress down to the wound, Correia complied while they got to bandaging the wound.

"Very lucky that it's not so deep, these bandages will do. You could resume combat immediately, but we wouldn't recommend it until at least tomorrow."

The UMS Official, Mr. Rayd, steps up towards the Virago headquarters in the early morning, wishing he could be somewhere else. It looks a little run down, but hey, we can't all start off perfectly. He looks down at the paperwork. A "Valerie" has requested to be established into a Guild. Is this where the Guild would be located?

He moves up to the door and knocks.

[Attn: Marin]

Nymeria slowly got to her feet, looking herself over. Her cuts were healing and the bruises on her face returning to normal. She saw Teresa get thrown far off, landing on a section of the platform and lying motionless. Marin's strength was not to be challenged. Nymeria was too weak to make any significant reactions to the spectacle. She simply stood there and watched. When Marin approached her, she tried not to look so beaten up, although there was little she could do about her heavy breathing.

"I need blood...And my back...something doesn't feel right." Nymeria always got fresh blood from the targets she killed or from other sources, but maybe the medic would have blood for anyone that needed it. If not, she always had her ways of replenishing herself...She watched Claudia out of the corner of her eye as the woman fixed her elbow. A part of Nymeria was glad that the damage wasn't too serious.
