Time Keepers
Legend:
Long ago the gods of Greece wanted to reward their favored humans, those that had shown unshakable loyalty to them, by giving them immortality and the ability to move through time. The one rule was to never change the past or tell anyone in the future who they were. Most were so overwhelmed with the gift that they honored that one rule and never tried to change anything. They enjoyed the freedom to see the past, the lengths that humanity had come over time or to see how much more advanced the world would become. There were some over time that became unhappy with only watching. They saw people that became evil and hurt others, they thought they could go back and change that person before they hurt anyone. Some thought they would just kill the evil one and save the world from one more bad person. Others went back and changed mistakes they had made in the past. These became the Deceivers.
These events drastically changed the future. The gods saw this and most wanted to get rid of those with their gift altogether. Athena, the goddess of wisdom, realized that they could not punish all for the mistakes of the few. She told the other gods that she would claim control of those with the gift, they relented. She went to the good ones and beseeched them for their help. She charged them with the responsibility of stopping the Deceivers before they could change the past or influence the future. These that accepted the task became the Time Keepers. Some Keepers discovered they had a special talent, the ability to see the future actions of the Deceivers. They could tell when and where they would go back to and what they would do to change things. They were called Oracles. So the fight continues between the Keepers and the Deceivers. The future of humanity depends on the strength of the Keepers.

Gerard sat in his office, waiting for Savannah to return from her latest mission. Oracles, like his daughter, did not generally go on missions, but since her friend, Kaci, had gone with her, there was little argument as the Chancellor he could voice. Unfortunately, as her father, widowed 50 years ago when Savannah's mother had died on a mission, he had a lot of complaints. Every time Savannah went out on a job, he worried until he saw her again. There were a few requirements for him to allow her to go in the first place, that she not go alone, that it not be classified as highly dangerous, and that she report back to him immediately when she returned. Sighing, he pretended to work while he waited.

{Attn: Kaci}
Savannah left the holding cells beneath the Keeper's building alongside Kaci. Their mission had been successful and they'd caught the young Deceiver just trying to help an abused child. "I feel for her, Kaci, I really do, but we can't effect anything, even something as horrible as child abuse. If its happened already, it has effects on the present and future." Kaci really wasn't arguing with her, but Savannah had to go through this for herself. She had to remind herself that even the horrible things had an effect. Maybe that child the Deceiver had tried to help would grow to be a great person after having dealt with that rough childhood, perhaps they do great work in helping other abused children in the future. Without that experience in childhood, that person might not do those things in the future, therefore cursing others to the same fate. It was hard to see that and have the ability to change it, but not be able to, to see the big picture.
Together, they entered the elevator and she hit the top floor button, the one that would take them to her dad's office. "How do we help this new generation of novices and apprentices understand that, Kace?"

Devon watched the man across the bar flirting with anything in a skirt, the gold wedding band winking on his finger. What a loser. He was perfect. She turned on the bar stool, her short skirt riding up her thighs as she crossed her legs. The movement caught the man's attention and he downed the last of his beer, an excuse to come up to the bar. She smiled at him as he stopped next to her to wait for the bartender to come back around. He grinned at her and turned to lean his elbow on the bar. "Buy you a drink, sweetheart?"
Nodding, Devon smiled. "Do you like Sex on the Beach?" The guy's eyes lit with surprise and he seemed speechless for a minute. She held up her empty glass. "My drink, Sex on the Beach." Gods, he was even more perfect for this than she'd anticipated. A newbie to the adultery game.

Re: Time Keepers
Maresca goes to her apartment. She is still dressed in her medieval dress. Going back to that time period is a stress reliever. It was a much simpler time. It is funny how people are fundamentally the same no matter which time period she visits. She loves staying in the background for now. It is hard sometimes, but the lessons that her uncle taught her stick in her head.
She can see why some people want to change the past. Some things that happened were horrible. Maresca puts the period clothing in her closet and puts on flannel pajamas. She goes to her kitchen and pulls out a bottle of wine. She grabs a glass and goes into her living room. She relaxes on her chair and drinks from her glass. She wonders if taking some of the fare back from her time jumps would be considered interfering.

Re: Time Keepers
[Attn: Savannah]
"Hmm?" She blinked, raising her head to look at Savannah. She gave her an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry, Sav. I wasn't paying attention. I'm, really tired."
Kaci turned her head away from her friend, staring blankly at elevator door. She hadn't slept in two days, trying her hardest to find her sister. It was what she had vowed to do for the last five hundred years. Every time she thought she got close, something was always in her way. She'd even taken to forcing her visions, which always left her weak. It wasn't against the rules so she didn't have to worry about being in trouble, but...that didn't mean it wasn't bad for her health. She sighed softly, pressing the back of her hand against her forehead.

[Attn: Devon] [2001]
Lilith let out a disgusted breath at Devon's ridiculous play with the man. She had been watching for the past twenty minutes, and wasn't sure who she wanted to hit more, the man, Devon, or Viktor who kept chuckling at the display. Finally she downed her shot, and got up from the booth she and Viktor had been sitting.
Stalking towards Devon with a purpose she, slid a hand over the woman's shoulders, and gripped her neck. Tilting the woman's head back, she whispered. "Hey baby."
She crushed her lips against Devon's, flicking her eyes back towards the man. Did she care for Devon? Hell no she hated the bitch, but this was just too funny to pass up.

The cruel smile tugging at the corner of his lips was hidden by the glass he was tipping to drink from. He watched as Devon used her charm to entice the man she was talking too, and Lilith sneered in her seat next to him. He arched an eyebrow as she got up suddenly. He tilted his head and watched her leave. Well this should be interesting...
His attention was side tracked from his black widow however when another stunningly gorgeous read head walked past him. A fire burned in his eye as he bit down on an ice cube, standing to follow the woman. He leaned against the bar next to her, barely brushing her arm.
"Oh, I'm sorry," he purred sincerely. "I didn't mean to invade your space."

{Attn: Viktor} [2001]
She did't even glance at the dark haired man at her side. "Sure you did. Most likely you think that is a smooth pick up line that I will easily swoon into your arms for. I am sorry but I think you have mistaken me for one of your other bimbos."
She turned her tawny eyes to him and looked him over. She was one who preferred directness. But he was not her target and therefore had little interest. She knew he was an immortal... but was he a keeper here to stop her or a deceiver who had his own agenda? She should be nicer to him in case he was the former, but she was not ready to be captured yet, and if she played it guiltily then she would be suspect. She turned back to the bartender as he approached and nodded to the man at her side.
"He is buying me a scotch, straight."

{Attn: Kaci}
Savannah frowned at her friend. "Kace, we'll find her. One of us is bound to have a vision one of these days about where she is. But if you keep pushing yourself like this, you'll never find her. If you're too weak to get visions or fade, that won't help you." Seeing they were almost to the top floor, she turned and took Kaci's hand. "Honey, you need to eat and get rest and if I have to move in with you to make sure you get both, I will."

{Attn: Lilith}
Devon was so shocked at Lilith's kiss, she didn't move for a moment. Then she was torn between killing the bitch or going with it in hopes the guy was into that kind of thing. Glancing at him under her lashes and seeing his expression also shocked, but not helpful to her in deciding what to do. Mentally plotting Lilith's death, she growled and wrapped her arms around the petty witch. Going with it seemed like the best idea at the moment, so she returned Lilith's kiss with gusto, hating every minute of it.

Re: Time Keepers
[Attn: Sav]
Kaci smiled at Savannah. Of course her best friend would know exactly what was wrong with her. The thing was...she wanted to talk to her sister. Just...have something. Know that Lilith didn't...hate her. She sighed softly, gently tugging her hand away from Savannah.
"I'll be fine...really."
She let out a sigh, staring at the door again.

[Attn: Devon]
She didn't know if she wanted to gag, or smirk as Devon returned the kiss. She slid into the other woman's lap, twisting her hand just right enough that her nails dug into her skin.
She nipped hard at Devon's lip--enough to draw blood-then broke the kiss off.
"You're drooling," She whispered to the man, turning her head to grin at him.

Viktor chuckled, eyeing the bartender. "Well, you heard the lady. And make it two."
He turned his head towards the firey red head,
"Blunt and to the point? I like it."
He took the drink that was handed to him, and tipped it towards her. He took a drink, licking his lips.
"So what brings a woman as yourself to a place like this?"

"You really do need new material. You going to ask what sign I am as well?" She nodded her thanks to the dark haired man and tipped the scotch back, letting its silky heat slide down her throat. She glanced at him sideways, her eyes roamed him again, as she turned slightly towards him.
"I am hoping to meet someone. Seems you think it should be you, huh?"

Re: Time Keepers
{Attn: Kaci; Gerard}
Sighing, she turned forward as the doors opened onto the top floor. Her father's office was straight ahead and she fought back another sigh at his worry. Leading the way down the hall, she knocked on her father's door, not waiting for his response to enter. Opening the door, she held it open for Kaci and shut it behind them. Walking to the desk, she smiled at him. "Dad, as you can see, we made it home safely.
Gerard looked up when the knock had sounded and smiled as Savannah and Kaci entered. Kaci was looking tired and worn. He took a mental note to talk with her in private soon. He didn't need to lose one of his best Oracles because she wasn't taking care of herself. He waited until Savannah spoke to say anything, business first though. "You're mission was successful?"

{Attn: Lilith}
It took every ounce of control she had to not shove Lilith off her lap. Mentally bracing herself, she smirked at the guy. "Oh, baby, leave the poor thing alone. I think you've had enough surprises for one night." She licked the blood off her lip and mentally glared at the cow in her lap. Oh, she was going to pay for this. Faking an apologetic look for the guy's benefit, she reached up to play with Lilith's hair, making sure to pull it hard enough to sting. "Sorry about her, she doesn't know when to stop sometimes. I hope she didn't offend you."

"It was. The man has been contained and resides in the cells." Kaci answered, trying to keep the tiredness out of her voice. She seated herself in one of the chairs nearby, stretching slightly. Gerard had always been like a father to her, and the ever watchful gaze unnerved her slightly.

She hid a hiss with a chuckle, turning her head slightly to give Devon a go to hell look. She leaned forward to lick the man's ear, whispering.
"I don't share."
A moment later her foot came up connecting with the man's chin. It knocked him out cold, and she slid off of Devon's lap, sneering at her.
"You kiss terrible. Just saving him the trouble of experiencing it."

"I wouldn't be so bold to do that," he chuckled. There was something in the fierceness of this woman that intrigued him.
"Plus," he leaned forward to whisper into her, his breath tickling her flesh. "I think the one you're waiting for is going to end up with that dagger of yours buried deep inside them. Hmm?"
The racket of what happened at the other end of the bar had him pulling back with a heavy sigh. He couldn't take either of them anywhere with out them trying to kill each other.

She was about to reply about the dagger comment when a commotion caught her attention. Guess he knew the women as he seemed to be enthralled with the attention they were drawing himself.
"Seems your other..... women..... need your attention."
Looking past him, she saw her target enter. "You should attend it." Without another glance, she headed to meet the man who entered and sat at a near the door table, his back to the wall. Leaning seductively over he quickly invited her to join him. Only then did she spare a glance at the dark haired man who intrigued her.

After Maresca is done with her wine she decides to check in with her ‘uncle’. She always visits him after her time jumps. She finds herself outside his door knocking on it. The door is pulled open and a tall man with dark hair and a goatee greets her. “Welcome home Mare, when did you go this time?”
He stands back allowing her in. “I was in the renaissance again. I love going there. The clothes are so pretty and the people treat you more mannerly.” Maresca answers as she steps in. She takes a seat in his living room.
“Are you hungry, or did you already eat?” He asks.
Maresca shakes her head. “I ate before I left.”
The uncle sits down beside her. “So did you capture any Deceivers?” Maresca shakes her head no. “It seems you have the time traveling down, so when are you going to drop the keeper in training act?”
Maresca shrugs. “When a Deceiver deserves to be caught. So far I have not seen anything that warrants someone being trapped.”
The uncle sighs. “How many times do I have to tell you anyone messing with time is a bad thing. We weren’t given this gift to abuse the time line for our personal gain.”
Maresca moves her hand in a talking motion. “Uncle, don’t worry I learned the lesson well, I am not going to change the timeline. I just won’t stop others either. Besides do I look like the type who can arrest someone?”
Uncle kisses Maresca’s head. “I know you are a good girl, just be careful out there. Deceivers are not good people, no matter their intention. One never knows the destiny of the people they ‘save’. Sometimes it takes a bad thing to happen for a person to find their inner strength.”
Maresca stands up. “Please Uncle, save the speech for the recruits. Well I think I will be headed home, I am tired from my travels. I just wanted to let you know I was home.”
Maresca leaves the house and begins to walk back to her apartment.

Re: Time Keepers
{Attn: Kaci and Sav}
He nodded to the girls. "Good work. Now business overwith...how are you both? Kaci, how goes the search for Lilith?"
Savannah smiled at her father. "We're fine, Dad." She eyed the dark shadows under his eyes and knew he was working outside of his required hours to try and find Viktor. And she thought she was the workaholic. But sitting next to these two, she looked lazy. She'd never wished for a helpful vision more in her life than right now. She didn't care if it was of Viktor or of Lilith, but if she could use her talents to help at least one person she loved, she'd be happy.

{Attn: Lilith}
Devon stood and glared at Lilith. "Oh, go to hell, you pretentious bitch. You're no better than I am, so get over yourself." She curled her lip at the guy out cold on the floor. He hadn't been worth the effort anyway. Annoyed, she shoved past Lilith and went to leave the bar, wanting to find a new target somewhere else. On the way out, she stopped when she noticed Viktor and smirked. Walking up to him, she wrapped her hands around the back of his neck and pulled him down before he could protest. Her mouth meshing with his, she made a big show of kissing him. With a little lick, she pulled back and smirked again at Lilith.
[Attn: Geard, Savannah]
Kaci smiled faintly at Gerard. The both knew that if she were to find Lilith she would be obligated to bring her to the council, but there was also an understanding that this was just something she had to do.
"Its...difficult...I'll get flashes...brief images, but its like...somehow she is--" She cut off suddenly with a gasp tensing.
Her gaze went blank.
Flowing as if a ghost through the crowded pub her eyes locked on the object of her vision. A woman. She'd seen this woman before. She was good. Never been caught.
Talking to a man...her prey?
No...
He leaned to whisper something into her ear. "...dagger..."
Another commotion brought her attention, and she started to turn her head. The man's face made her freeze however, when he too turned to face the commotion.
"Viktor..."

[Attn: Devon, Maresca] [2001]
She peeled her lip back in disgust and anger, turning away. She made a point not to harm a woman, she might have to make an exception in Devon's case. She moved away from Devon and Viktor, to scoop up her coat.
"I'm out of here," she hissed to Viktor. A moment later she faded out.
[Present]
Fading back in to present time, she smirked. Devon was so easily convince about things. She wondered how long it would take for the git to realize that Viktor was toying with her?
A ripple went through the air, and it took her a moment to realize that another girl was walking down the dark streets. Immortal. Young.
Keeper? Or Deciever?

[Attn: Devon, Nemasis]
He hadn't been paying attention to the girls, his eyes watching Nemasis' every movement. He let out a grunt of surprise when Devon placed a kiss on his lips. Normally he enjoyed fueling the rift between the two women, but at the moment he had more important things to worry about.
Pushing Devon away, he whispered in a low voice. "I don't have time to play your childish games, Devon. Return to the house."

{Attn: Viktor} (Year 2001)
Devon narrowed her eyes at him and stepped away. "Right, back to the house." Turning on her heel, she left the bar, fading out when she got outside.
{Attn: open} (Year 2004)
Fading to the sidewalk outside the same bar a few years later, she headed down the street. Like she was going to go back to the house because Viktor ordered it. Annoyed, she went to find a new target, determined to not waste her night.

{Attn: Kaci and Gerome}
Savannah turned to Kaci and waited for the vision to be over. It seemed like an intense one and she hoped that Kaci's exhausted system could handle it without knocking her out. Prepared for whatever happened, she glanced at her father, sharing in her worry.

Maresca is almost back to her apartments when she gets the sensation of another immortal nearby. She turns around and sees beautiful red headed woman. “Hello…” She states nervously and politely. She spins around and continues on her way. She doesn’t know if the woman is keeper or deceiver, and she does not care.

Re: Time Keepers

She sat facing the window across from her target. In the reflective glass she could see Viktor watching her, well at least until a woman sauntered up to him and planted a good one. Putting it out of her mind, she turned her attention back to why she was here... Marcus Alveraz. He was visiting New York on vacation before he returned to Ghana to referee the sporting events... in particular he would be the referee In Ghana where 129 football fans die in what became known as the Accra Sports Stadium Disaster. The deaths were caused by a stampede (caused by the firing of teargas by police personnel at the stadium)that followed a controversial decision by the Marcus handling a crucial match between arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Among those dead was a child who needed to grow up to become Ghana's President and put in place anti-rape laws under the influence of a new drug called Spirit.
She plied him with drinks, flattering him and even used her feminine wiles to show him a good time. She let his paw skin her bare thigh, leaned in as she nibbled and whispered in his ear. Finally, she knew he was off guard enough to invite him over to her place. Once alone, she would finish her job.

Re: Time Keepers
[Attn: Gerome, Sav]
She gasped again when the vision ended, gripping Savannah's hand tightly.
"Viktor. I saw Viktor."
Her eyes locked onto Gerome's. "I know where he is. He's distracted."
She felt Savannah stiffen next to her, and glanced to her friend and then back to her father.
"You have to hurry. I don't think he'll be there long."

She smiled nodding her head at the woman.
"Evening."
She paused, then. "Excuse me, but I haven't seen you before. Still in training?"
She had been a Keeper for far to long to not know how to go about speaking to them. If they didn't know who she was then it was easy to pass as a Keeper. If they panicked, then it was easy to calm them.

Viktor slid into an empty booth. Watching her work was inspiring, and he had nothing better to do at the moment.
He had a streak of jealousy run through him when the man pawed at her form, and when her delicate mouth trailed a line up to her ear.
That interested him even more...

Maresca turn when the woman started to talk to her. “Technically yes, but I don’t know if I am keeper material. Don’t get me wrong I am not going to change history like those Deceivers. I just want to travel through time, not policing others.”

Re: Time Keepers
[Attn: Viktor] [2001]
Heading out with Marcus, she led him to a small motel room, letting him grope and paw her. It sickened her but considering she had the opportunity to save 129 people, innocents, she had to take the chance. She closed herself off to feelings long ago. Her job was her life now. Nothing more nothing less, though she had to admit the dark haired man had intrigued her for the first time in a century.
Putting him out of her mind, she shut the door to the motel room and made sure the drapes were drawn. She pushed him onto the bed and moved to straddle him. She had talked to him in the bar and was fully aware that he would not do anything but call them as he saw them. It was calls like that which ruined so many lives. Without another thought, she stripped him. He was so excited he could barely contain himself, when she stripped too... didn't want her clothes soiled. Climbing back on him, she looked into his eyes. The dagger suddenly in her hand and then in his chest, her hand on his mouth so prevent screaming. Once he stopped moving, she climbed off, took a shower and got dressed, destroying everything she might have touched, leaving him naked on the bed with the cutlery knife protruding from his chest. With one last glance, she stepped outside into the cool crisp night air.

Gerome stiffened and watched Kaci in silence, shocked. He'd been waiting for this opportunity to come for so long and now that it was here, he was to surprised to move. Savannah's voice calling his name snapped him out of his shock and his gaze shot to her. "Go get Gareth, hurry." Savannah left the office, rushing to his friend and second in command's office. "Kaci, tell me what you saw."

{Attn: Gareth}
Savannah hurried to Gareth's office. She burst in, the man like an uncle to her so she knew he wouldn't mind. "Dad needs you, hurry. Its about Viktor."

Gareth's head snapped up at the intrusion bursting through his office door. Savannah came in with a panic stricken expression. Listening to her words he stood slowly and made his way around the desk.
Following her to Gerome's office he entered and looked him, rubbing his jaw in thought. "What is the trouble with Vikor, this time?"
He shot a glance toward Kaci and gave a curt nod.

As she stepped outside and looked down from the railing of the motel, she frowned. The dark haired man was near by. Fuck... if he followed her, he could be a keeper and after her to bring her to justice. She should shimmy out, but something... maybe it was morbid curosity, maybe it was being a glutton for punishment, whatever, she stood there, wondering if he would approach her.

"I found him."
She let out another gasp as she violently thrown back into the vision. Her small, exhausted frame shaking from the force of it. Viktor was moving. Moving where? Outside. Still there. Hadn't faded.
Breaking back out of the vision, she whispered.
"Hurry, he is moving. New York. April 13, 2001."

Lilith's brows raised briefly at the girls words.
"Oh?"
She let a pleasant smile slid across her lips. "And...if you were to come across a Deceiver, what would be your course of action? Just...let them go?"

He clapped. Stepping out of the shadows, he smiled at her. His eyes were full adoration.
"Very nicely done."
Walking up to her slowly, he saw the flicker of apprehension in her gaze.
"Don't worry, doll. I'm not a Keeper." He chuckled. "Haven't been one in a very long time."

Re: Time Keepers
Maresca shrugs. “Do I look like someone that can stop a deceiver? Technically I am a ‘Keeper Trainee’ only because I want to be left alone by both sides. Why are you going to tell the others on me? Because the ones that matter know my position by now, so it would be just a waste of your breath.” She curses at herself inwardly for talking too much. “Or perhaps you are one of those ‘evil’ deceivers. Either way you can’t do harm here it is present time. I have more to fear from you really.”
