Soul Wake: Divine Atonement Empty Soul Wake: Divine Atonement

Post by Ink 4th November 2012, 7:00 pm

Tomorrow came two years ago...

The Final Battle at the gateway to the Demon World. Kyubi stands with her mighty blade. No longer is she bound to an ancient spirit who'd braved these odds once before. Now she is but an average Awakened Warrior, standing before a towering demon. Aqua stands at her side, both her gauntlets ready to unleash divine punishment upon this most unholy of adversaries. With them are the fair Geneva and the Righteous Saeran. This was to be a sad day, though, for in their path was a friend...a former ally. Treasa stands with her twin blade unsheathes, a demented grin upon her face and an eerie cackle assaulting her former friends' ears. "Hi...guys."

Aqua takes but one step forward. "We give you this chance to reject that demon, Treasa. I don't wish to bring harm to you."

"That's too bad...because I'd love to bring harm to you!" Treasa hisses as she lunges forward into the onslaught with a squad of demons behind her.

"Kyubi, you take care of Treasa. The rest of us will occupy the demons," Aqua says.

"Roger that," Kyubi says as she leaps forward, deflecting the blow of Treasa's first blade, aimed at Aqua's throat. "So now I guess I can say this. I always did find you kind of annoying."

"I'm so sorry you felt that way," Treasa says as she uses her second blade to overpower Kyubi and toss her back. The two meet blades again, the two-handed great sword wielded by Kyubi meeting squarely with the crossed blade of the corrupted one. "Since you're about to die, I can tell you this. I wasn't sorry when they died." Kyubi's eyes widen as she suddenly loses herself to distraction. She'd lost her brother and even her little neighbor friend to this war.

Treasa overpowers her once more and kicks her to the ground. "In fact...I think you deserved it, you self righteous little dog," she says as she raises her blades over her head. "So where's all that confidence now?" Suddenly Kyubi's eyes narrow and she tightens her grip on her sword, singing it up as Treasa brings her own blades down to finish the job. As the blades meet, Kyubi swings hers around and uses the link between them to throw Treasa into the wall of the gateway. She then jams the sword into the ground as Treasa gets up.

"You don't talk about them like that...You WITCH!" She then inhales heavily. Treasa's eyes widen as she reaches for her sword. Kyubi then releases a full blast flamethrower from her lungs that engulfs the corrupted devil entirely.

"Ky are you-"

"I'm fine, Chakra. She's not dead...but she's about to be..."

Aqua punches one of the demons in the face before grabbing it and lobbing it at another that had prepared to attack Saeran. "Boss, we're not going to be able to keep this up for much longer!" Azure cries out as Aqua looks up to find the many demons flooding through the gateway.

"The only way to stop them is to interrupt the Soul Chain so it can't power the door any longer. But if we do that..."

"We might not make it back," Azure whimpers. then comes a brief moment of silence. "Boss? Boss, I'm with you til the end, ya know."

Aqua then balls her fists and leaps ahead at more of the demons, ripping them all from the air and unleashing a might thrashing wherever she may land. "We'll try another way. Nobody shall die needlessly on this day."

Kyubi lifts the might Blade of the Black Dragon as Treasa emerges from the flames, her burned flesh restoring itself bit by bit. "Did you think that a little heat would stop me? What are you going to do now, punch me?"

"No," Kyubi says, raising the blade over her head. "I'm gonna cut your freakin' head off. See if that works." She then holds the blade to her side as she takes a running start, shouting the entire way there.

"You're welcome to try," Treasa says as she launches forward.

The two meet one another head on and Kyubi swings her blade. A quick parry by Treasa and a lightning jab, avoided by Kyubi. Treasa jumps up and lands on the side of Kyubi's sword, preparing to stab at Kyubi's face but a small burst of flaming breath dismounts her. Everything they did was a movement of speed and precision. Yet to them, it may as well have been in slow motion. Suddenly comes the distinct sounds of steel meeting flesh.

Aqua looks over her shoulder to find that Treasa had gotten one of her blades into Kyubi's shoulder. But taking a closer look, she also sees Kyubi's sword punched through Treasa's torso and protruding from her back. No blood. Demons didn't bleed. They didn't have to. Kyubi then closes her eyes and places her head on Treasa's shoulder and the corrupted girl stands in a paralyzed state. "Now just shut up." She removes the holy blade and purged is the demon Treasa had so openly embraced and the corrupted soul that granted her healing powers.

"I...just wanted-"

"I said shut up. You chose a side. You chose wrong," Kyubi says just before Treasa falls over.

Aqua nods to Kyubi as she turns away from Treasa's corpse and now comes the difficult part. The gateway so suddenly closes and all of the demons are forced back into the demon world. It seemed they'd won. Geneva had just defeated a demon before it appeared to reduce to dust and fall back into the mystical portal. "What on Earth?"

"They're defeated," Aqua says with a smile.

"Please," utters a sinister voice as all of the dust from the demons spirals together into the form of a man in a white suit. "You honestly believe that I would allow a mere avatar of an Arch Demon to be what determines my fate?" This was him. Etrighan. This was but a ruse. This body, the form of a mortal man, was far from his true appearance.

"Y-you're-"

"I am free and you have failed. And now, if you will excuse me, I have a race of pathetic life to eradicate. Allow me to begin with...actually...I think I've come to change my mind."

The mighty demon turns himself and suddenly spawns before Kyubi who swings her blade at him but he merely catches it and flicks it away, tossing her back. "W-what the he-, what do you-"

"You, dearest mortal," Etrighan says, suddenly taking residence within her body.

"Wha- G-get out of there! I'll-" Kyubi raises her blade as if to run it through her own perfectly mortal body. Yet she can't bring herself to do it. Her body locks and her eyes glaze over.

Why do you fight for these mortals? You've seen what treachery they are capable of. You know how vile they are. You took the life of one of your own, not of righteousness. You may have convinced yourself that the pawn you slew only moments ago had to go based on your pathetic cause, but you know yourself better than any. You killed her because you hated her. Because she spat on the graves of your loved ones. It was the final insult. You could end it all. You could purge the plague of mortality from this god forsaken world. You could accept what I am prepared to give you. Immortality. Power. Control. Is it not the unspoken yet obvious truth of mankind that this is all any of you desire?

Aqua and the rest of the Awakened ones look all around them as the gateway suddenly begins to slowly reopen, demons forcing their way out. "There are too many for my block to continue working while the chain is active," Aqua says.

"So we just have to destroy the chain then," Geneva says.

"In theory," Aqua says. She then takes a moment and thinks. "But if the chain is interrupted, the backlash could...The two of you should leave this place. Get back to Earth. I'll stay and stop the doorway."

"What?" Geneva says. "Sorry, we're not leaving."

"You mistake my meaning. I'm not only telling you to leave...I'm MAKING you." Aqua then turns and punches the ground, tearing up a shockwave that throws the two of them back towards the portal to Earth. Saeran is thrown through but Geneva lands just short of it, unseen by Aqua who proceeds to try and get near the Soul Chain as the doorway opens. As Geneva begins to get up, she sees that the demons are almost through and more likely than not, Aqua wasn't going to make it in time.

Meanwhile, Kyubi struggles to loosen the mighty demon's hold on her.

Your soul is forfeit, no matter what you do. You would make a terrific Arch-Demon. Kyubi's eyes suddenly return to their natural state. "Sorry," she says as suddenly the demon is rejected from her body. "But you don't know me as well as you think. I didn't do it for me or my cause. I did it for her own good."

"You make a grave mistake then," he hisses as his body suddenly transforms into a towering demonic figure looming over everyone.

Aqua is repelled from the Soul Chain suddenly and lands across the floor. As she picks herself up, she sees Kyubi fighting what may very well be the true manifestation of their great foe. This was the demon king. She sees the demons beginning to leak from the gateway and decides to help, plowing into the demon king and forcing him to shuffle back.

Geneva looks and sees the chain, left alone while the two remaining warriors battle the gargantuan foe. A split second decision...and a critical one. She then runs toward the chain and pushes herself to brave the painful shock of the barrier protecting it, letting out a shout of agony as she just makes it through, dropping to her knees and looking up at it. In her hand forms the gun that gathers a flame in its core. "We did it," she says.

"Yeah we did," Wailele says as the burst of fire shoots and disrupts the Soul Chain.

As the chain ceases to revolve and several of its segments tear away, falling to the floor, the demon king turns and sees the girl sitting there with the now hyperactive chain. "What have you-"

The entire gateway suddenly begins to tremble and Aqua's block on it shatters, several demons pouring out and through the portal to Earth. The gateway was now unblocked but it'd implode on itself soon enough. The chain suddenly bursts and a segment fuses itself with Geneva. Two more seek out and combine with Aqua and Kyubi. The remaining segments all fly into the Earth connecting portal.

"What IS this?" Aqua says, looking down at her hands as her body gives off an angelic white aura.

"Ky...this power," Chakra speaks up. "It feels like...the power of an Archangel!"

Kyubi then turns her head to the demon king who takes a step back. "Archangel or not, you are but insects to me, mortals."

"Is that right?" Kyubi says, standing up. She holds out her hand and her blade flies into it, changing into a pure white sword with an angelic build. "Then why are you running?"

Aqua gets to her feet as well as Geneva and the three supercharged warriors face the mighty demon king. Kyubi swings her blade first and the might fiend catches it between his hands before suddenly being punched in the face by Aqua whose gauntlets have evolved as well. Kyubi then spins her blade and it becomes a long scepter. Golden wings of light form behind her. "Ky, Archangels can fly!" Chakra says.

"Good to know," Kyubi says, looking over as Aqua whose wings appear as well as Geneva's.

Geneva's guns forms into large mortars around her hands and she expels a mighty burst of white holy flame upon the demon king who pushes through, roaring all the while. "I will not allow myself to be defeated to easily!"

Aqua punches at him again but he catches and throws her at Kyubi before swatting Geneva out of the air. He then brings his hand down and drives Kyubi into the ground but she punches her blade up through his hand and he raises it in pain. That'd hurt but she'd live. "Kyubi, Archangel doesn't last long. It's...draining me," Chakra says.

"We have to do something about this fast," Kyubi says.

"No kiddin'!" Azure cries out. "This place is falling faster than my energy level!"

"And that's how we'll take care of him," Aqua says. "Even now there's no way we can defeat him indefinitely. But we don't have to destroy him." She then punches into the ground and tears up another shockwave that throws him back toward the gateway opening. "Weaken the structure however you can!"

Kyubi forms her blade into a scythe and throws it at one of the pillars holding everything together. As it slices through the pillar, it returns to her hand. Geneva then blasts apart another pillar as Aqua continues to occupy him. "You're not leaving this place, demon! As a hero, I will not allow it!"

The entire place begins to fall apart and Aqua sees that he's begun to back up toward the portal. She then launches herself forward and tackles him back through the gateway. "AQUA!" Geneva cries out.

"Come on, we gotta get out of here!" Kyubi says, grabbing Geneva's hand.

"No!" Geneva snaps, snatching her hand back and flying into the gateway. The opening behind her was closing and now Kyubi was doing the best she could to hold the place together.

"Ky...can't keep it up..." Chakra says.

Geneva says Aqua holding Etrighan back and when she finally sees Aqua's Archangel abilities ware exhausted, she uses what of it she has left to blast the fiend back, grabbing Aqua and flying her out. "Let's go!" Geneva says.

Kyubi drops what she's doing and flies down to the others just as her own Archangel powers exhaust themselves. The place was falling apart around them. Now it was just a short run.

On the other side of the portal to Earth, Saeran and Blank await the others. The portal was growing unstable and beginning to flicker. At last, the three girls emerges through it, falling through at the last possible second. They'd made a habit of trying luck. "You never cease to amaze me," Blank says. "And it seems that disrupting the Soul Chain didn't have the outcome we foresaw."

"No," Aqua says with a sigh of relief, "It didn't." She then collapses, tired and ready to finally rest.

The girls had all dropped in a jumble right there, collectively exhausted.

Over the next few days, the news was making reports already. "And so it seems that the alleged demon outbreak has finally come to an end, putting a stop to the publicly labeled Nightmare Week. We can only wonder now how it happened and who we have to thank for it."

"Well, it's not a trophy or a parade but, you know what? It'll do," Kyubi says as she changes the channel, sitting back on the sofa in the cafe of the newly rebuilt book store, run by Geneva. "And congrats on your reopening."

"Thank You. I wouldn't have been able to reopen, of course, if we hadn't stopped that mess."

"It was a successful mission to be sure," Aqua says. "But there are still demons out there to banish and-"

"Are you EVER not thinking about your hero stuff?" Kyubi remarks.

"Only when I'm sleeping," Aqua jokes. "So where did Saeran go?"

"Oh, he said he was going to head out and see the world. The whole Demon thing opened his eyes or something like that," Kyubi says. "Says he wants to learn a bunch and help out any other way he can besides just destroying mean guys with horns." She then envisions Saeran stands on a boat, looking out to sea.

Blanks sits and reads a book, her vision now fully restored. She glances up to see the three girls chatting casually for a change and she smiles as she looks over to Geneva's parents. "Everything is as it should be," she says. "Everything...is."

2 Years Later...

Kyubi sits in class, writing down notes on the lecture being given by her professor. "Sometimes this gets a little old," she says to herself as she begins to trail off and start to doodle. "Ack. Snap out of it Ky. This is college. No room to slack off."

Aqua runs around the book store, helping to try and service any customers she can, as fast as she is able while Blank sits there and watches here. "May I ask why you're so very rushed?"

"Because Geneva and her parents are allowing me to stay here and I want to return the favor by offering whatever services I can in their absence. They'll be gone for the remainder of the year, correct?"

"Yes but...very well," Blank says, turning back to her book.

As Kyubi continued to half-ignore, half-pay attention to the lecture at hand, the lecturer herself was pacing around with a calculated measure. Most of the lecture hall's occupants were currently entranced with the fluidity of the lecture being delivered right now. After all, this was one of the best professors on campus, not only was she young, she was intelligent. "Alright, class, you've analyzed the profile above, what have you NOTICED about him?" One eager and snarky student immediately chimes in with a rather absurd comment, from the surface.

"THE MAN IS ACTUALLY A WOMAN!" Roars erupt from the crowd of people, mostly of laughter. Oh, how they fall into traps so easily.

"Very good." The crowd immediately hushed up, amazed at the Professor. Doctor Volpe makes it around to the ne'er do well, and stomps her high heel, giving him and his friends a glare. Her violet orbs of luminescent light pierce into his soul like a butter knife into butter. "And how, pray tell, did you deduce that this profile was a woman?"

"Um, uh..."

"Lucky guess? Why not, after all," now addressing the nay-sayers of the field, "all Criminology and psychoanalysis IS, is essentially guesswork." The few believers of this nodded and Maroone made her way back down to the bottom floor. "NOTE that the profile lists things like manipulation, clean kills, more meticulous style, and even has a fun analysis of the struggles of the victims: there were none. This leads ME, at least, to believe two things: either that this subject is incredibly CALM under the pressure of killing to the point of being able to completely anticipate or premeditate every step of the kill, making them not only a psychopath, but a very dangerous one, or that she is a woman. It makes sense if she's a woman, now, because women don't have the LUXURY of being able to overpower more often than not." Murmurs of agreement spread. Ah, the job of being a Criminology professor.

"That also implies that she was married," Kyubi mutters, loudly enough to heard though not loudly enough that her response would really pick up much attention. She'd said it with the same uncaring nonchalance she carried everywhere. She tapped her pencil against the table and stared off into space as she does so. She was either completely out of it or in some sort of hyper-conscious state.

Maroone snapped her head to the voice. Interesting hypothesis, but she would have to know more. It was conceivable, yes, but the woman had a seething hatred for men, and had no particular affinity towards children. Unfortunately, the voice came from the faaaaar right, and there were just too many stairs to walk up. "Please, miss, elaborate!" Maroone arched an eyebrow at her.

Kyubi shrugs and closes her eyes. "Sure. To elaborate she was either married or she was in a relationship...either or, it was more than once. A woman with that kind of loathing of men is a different case than a woman whose hatred is spawned by things like rape or physical aggression. The woman responsible for the murder was, in fact, calmer. Weak as women may be perceived, they're not immune to emotional scarring. Trauma would cause the killer to have acted out of a much more sloppy and aggressive pattern."

Several students around the room simply arched eyebrows as Kyubi went on. Rarely did she speak two words in this class, let alone fluent paragraphs. "This woman hated men because of an emotional cause. The leading emotion related causes with little to no physical aggression all revolve around relationship strains. Every man she'd ever been with must have been a real bum-hole. Of course, she killed this one calmly...quietly. She'd been thinking about it for a long time. Probably by her third man. 'If he ever betrays me again, I'll kill him,' she thinks to herself. A premeditated murder is rarely as grizzly as a spur of the moment kill...so I've been told."

By the end of her monologue, Kyubi was once again back to staring into space with her head resting on her hand and her eyes blank slates. "That's it..."

Melinda was just leaving her grandparents house, her first class is Criminal Investigations. She is happy that she is actually taking classes that matter instead of the stupid core classes they are required to take. She packs up her bag and goes to her car.

Once she is in the school she goes straight to the classroom. She is very punctual, one of the things driven into her as a child. She is not the first one there though. She looks at the other classmates. Some she recognizes, some not. She sits in a desk and takes out her stuff and waits for the class to begin.

Maroone was, admittedly, impressed. Original theses were hard to come by, and this blue-haired girl seems to have a good grasp on this. "Astute observation, Miss..." She pauses to take a look at her attendance list. Odd, no last name, "however, your analysis is contingent on one thing: "she" was one person. And that, my dears, is the topic you must study today. On the website, there is a group case study about a duo. Your job is to identify the gender of the two, and come up with a thesis on why group murders are so hard to identify. Dismissed." Today was an easy class, not as many hooligans after some dropped the course. Fools.

As Kyubi leaves class, she pauses in the doorway, having been the last out. She then looks over her shoulder to the professor. It was a bit of a different look. Not quite bored or uncaring as a sort of empty amusement. She then leaves. Chakra pops up a moment later and sits on Ky's shoulder. "You look...happy...well as happy as I think you can look, anyway."

"I think this is going to be an interesting year, Chakra," Kyubi says as she plucks the Popsicle from her mouth. "Very interesting indeed."

The criminal investigation class was alright, but Melinda cannot wait until they get later into semester to get past all the theory crap and get into some applications. She places her books into her pack and exits the room.

Her next class is one she is not looking for Intro to Psychology. What a drag that she has to take this class. She should have taken this class before, but delayed it. She walks into the building and goes to the second floor classroom. She enters and sits down at the desk. She takes out the supplies needed for the class and hangs the backpack on the back of the chair. She takes out her reader and waits for the class to begin ignoring the students around her.

Great, her beginner's Psych class! Boring enough as it was to teach INTRODUCTORY psychology, she realized that it was a necessary evil for knowledge to be spread to the youth of today. She sits back down in her chair, getting ready to present her new students with information that they couldn't get anywhere else. "Alright, class, get ready to take more notes in one class than you will in an entire year." They all got their computers ready and turned on speech-to-text converters. "Lame. People should learn how to write notes normally."

"I will DESTROY you!" Shouts a vicious demon as Kyubi lands behind it with her Black Dragon blade in one hand.

"Oh, shut up an drink your juice. You couldn't destroy wet tissue paper," she retorts. "Chakra?"

People were scattered around the campus grounds, some running, some standing there with smart phones, recording everything like the idiots they certainly were. Kyubi shakes her head when she sees this. "For the record, if your head is 'accidentally' removed from your shoulders in a few minute, it's not my problem!" She shouts. She then spins and throws her blade as if she were playing discus in the Olympics themselves.

As the sword spins and spins, it slices through the demon, cutting it straight across its core, forcing it to shout out. The blade then returns to Kyubi's hand not unlike a boomerang and the demon fades away into white dust after turning into a statue. If it wasn't a known fact before, then it was now that there WERE Awakened on campus.

Chakra morphs back into his soul form and sits on Kyubi's shoulder as she walks off with her hands in her jacket pockets. "That'll teach you to melt my Popsicles."

Melinda takes out a notebook, one of the few students who do, and begins to take notes as the teacher begins to drone. This is so lame. Melinda thinks as looks out the window. She had completely tuned out the professor as her eyes scan the courtyard.

She her eyes finally see what looks like a fight. She looks closer her face conveying concern. Upon closer review it appears that it is a girl with a ridiculous looking weapon fighting against a person in a demon costume. She rolls her eyes. “Stupid freaks.” She mumbles looking back at her notebook. She yawns seeing nothing but doodles on the page in front of her.

"So you can see, the mind of the man behind the mask is more important than the man himself. You cannot just ASSUME that the man is wearing his heart on his sleeve. You must look past that... For example, the lady in the third row to the back, sitting fifth counting from the farthest seat from the door is clearly bored of my class. She may SAY she's not bored, but she really is." She gave a sharp glare to the girl sitting there and looked up slightly, noticing the shimmer of metal. Oh, my, something was amiss... Not her problem, though, and she didn't really want to investigate this moment. "Now, if you would be so kind, tell us what would be a better indicator of the real person behind the person?"

Instantly, a massive wave begins to strike around campus. Smart phone after smart phone, they all light up, ringing, buzzing, and doing whatever they do to get the attention of their owners. A video was going around like the plague, being sent to any and everyone. 'Awakened Freak on Campus!' was its official title. How...blatant. As music and sound effects pop up throughout the lecture halls, students begin to erupt into a low uproar.

Kyubi passes by several people giving her odd looks, knowing full and well, by now, what that meant. They knew. The looks were either of stupor, fear, or admiration. It was always like this when people knew these things about you. Yet she couldn't care less. It was all so boring to her by now.

Melinda waits for the class to end when suddenly the phone ringing and going crazy. She knows she has hers on vibrate. She looks around hearing the other phones going off too. She looks down at her phone and sees the beginning of the video. She curses under her breath. She remembers the last outbreak. “I thought they eradicated the demons.” She mumbles to herself. Looks like work is going to be busier now.

She looks at the time on her phone. At least this class is almost over. She crosses her arms and smiles at the professor. Good luck getting this crowd under control. She thinks to herself.

Oh, something easily remedied. She knew how students worked, and most importantly, how most of the class was probably spending thousands of dollars on classes. On the presentation board, she quickly whips up a powerpoint, as Maroone began the powerpoint. The first slide read: "If you care about your marks, considering that you will have to retake this rudimentary course again at the cost of about $300 to $400 dollars, please quiet down." Effective, but there were always the slackers who couldn't care less. The next slide was a little more direct, mentioning the rest of the slacking class. "That's okay, more money spent on an entire course lost because students are going to be failed out." And that got the rest of them settled down.

"Thanks for being so quick, gentlemen."

*Good show prof, but you forget the freshmen here don’t care about money yet.* Melinda sits back and looks at the clock on her phone again. She only hopes this professor isn’t one of those who needs an ego stroke. This is a class everyone is forced to take, not one that matters. To Melinda’s surprise the class did quiet down. Yay off to learn more boring intro psych stuff, wake her up when it is the psych that matters.

"Class Dismissed." Maroone had to investigate this, she just had to. After all, she was going to study some of these demons at some point, she had to investigate if they had come back! There were supposed to be no demons around because of the sealed gate, but she could feel a pulse of energy coming from somewhere. Going out to the courtyard, she sighs and prepares Harligne, her Soul. "Harligne, can you feel any energy from this point?" Now, her soul was a zingy little thing. Spunky, spiteful, and resourceful, but she answered this call quickly.

"Oh, yes... yes, there's a lot of energy here." She shudders and such. Maroone put a hand to her chin and hmmed.

"Who do you think is the cause?"

"Someone of pretty colossal power, can't identify any signatures, Miss!"

"That makes me feel old, Harligne..." Maroone rolls her eyes and looks around. There was another soul user here, she just couldn't find out who.

By now Kyubi was on a bus headed home. She was flat broke, needing to room with Aqua in the book store. It was small but surprisingly cozy. Business was booming but it was a book store. Noise didn't clutter her thoughts. Eventually she arrives and walks in to find Aqua racing up to her. "Welcome, loyal customer! Would you care to try our- o-oh! Kyubi, please do forgive me. I forgot to make an extra batch of treats for you and Blank."

"Believe me, Aqua, it is all right. You needn't be so critical of yourself," Blank calls from inside.

Kyubi simply plucks one of the small cookies from the tray and pops it into her mouth before attempting to chew, only to nearly break her teeth on it. "Ack! What, did you bake a hockey puck?"

"Ah, no, I don't think that was a part of the recipe," Aqua says with a puzzled expression worn on her face.

"N-never mind," Kyubi says, spitting the cookie into the trash can and whipping out another Popsicle. "Listen, I was fighting a demon today on campus. It wasn't nearly powerful enough to give off what Chakra and me were sensing. There were other Awakened Ones there somewhere. More than one."

"Wait, your sanity was in check enough to allow you that level of clarity? I am surprised you've actually been taking your medication," Aqua says, suddenly digesting the contents of what she'd just been told. "Aha! I knew the vile creatures would resurface sooner or later. The Demon King may be gone but the Devil far exceeds him. So...more Awakened Ones. It is certainly worth looking in to."

Meanwhile, on campus, a man in a black suit with a cane bearing a large ruby stands at the scene of the incident and looks over the entirety. "How intriguing that the demon chose this campus to strike. What could it have possibly found appealing about such a place?" He questions. "They are certainly mysterious creatures." He merely glances up to Maroone before bowing his head respectfully and taking his leave. "Good evening, Ma'am," he says as he passes by.

Melinda is posted at the Katherine dorms. It was the closest ones to the scene of the attack. She read all about the demon attacks when they were happening the first time. The logical part of her wanted to disbelieve it as fairy tale nonsense. But now she cannot for she saw it with her own eyes. As if this campus didn’t have enough trouble with the students. She gets out her homework and begins to work on it. Soon enough the other guard will be back and she will be on patrol duty.

Maroone walks along with Harligne on her shoulder, perusing her usual stores and not buying anything, as usual. Her money was best saved for bigger things, she found, like the actual PS3 for all the games her students recommended to her. The actual flat-top style stove when her students referred to this small teppenyaki restaurant that was great. Screw just living. She wanted to experience the entire freaking world. Maroone enjoyed everything of her life... and Harligne did as well, having fluttered around beside her master for the past couple years. They were a great fit together, both emotionally and realistically.

Kyubi finds herself out that night, running a few errands with a Popsicle in her mouth and Chakra on her shoulder. Suddenly she begins to hear voices. She looks over her shoulder. No one there. "What's wrong?" Chakra asks.

"Thought I heard someone," Kyubi responds. The voice had been familiar but she refrains from saying that much. She couldn't identify who it was but it was the voice of a child.

Suddenly, she as Chakra sense a powerful demonic force. "Kyubi, do you-"

"Yeah, I sense it too," Ky responds, running off to find it. It was somewhere in toward Town Square as far as she could tell...and it was massive.

Melinda is finally on patrol, which she loves. She hates being cooped up behind a desk. She puts on the official coat and walks from the desk. There are six floors to this dorm and each one has a common area. Plus there is an underground garage for the students. It is her first area to patrol. She is walking around when she hears a noise behind her. She shines the flash light and sees a Siberian Husky following her around. “Well there are you lost. Sorry, dogs aren’t allowed on campus.”

“Don’t worry I am here for you.” Melinda hears. She looks around again. No one is around, she looks down at the dog and pets it. “I am Haunani.” She hears. Melinda shakes her head. She’s been studying too hard. Thank goodness her shift is almost up.

She walks away from the dog, keenly aware that it is following her.

As the pulse of the music continued to put out a beat in the nightclub, Maroone was drinking yet another new drink of the bartender's... "A little sweet, you might want to try a little more lemon for acidity, and maybe even a little more vodka." Harligne sat on her shoulder, her feet dangling off the side. She was playing with her hair when she suddenly shifted her head to the right. "What?" The lights of the club continued to swing around, as she stood up on her tiny little feet.

"Something's wrong. We're going to have to check it out." Harligne tugs on Maroone's purple jacket. "C'mon! There's something weird!" Maroone obliges as they make their way to the site of the weird signature.
