Mancers RP

Xoia was leaning against the car when Ret and another man walked up. Xoia studiously ignored them, tuning out everything. He was glad to have his things back, in particular a silver locket with an onyx set into it. He opened it, but the picture in it had long been worn away. Not that it mattered anymore anyway. He was more interested in the reserves of power he had stored in it, ever since he first awakened his powers several years ago. He sat down in the front seat, staring out the window.

Xoia sat quietly during the car ride. When they got out, he was handed a sixth floor key by Trent. He flipped open a cell phone, and called a construction company and his insurance agent about his store. He walked back, through the collapsed front door, through to the stairs to the second floor. An iron door was there, scorched, but still standing. A bit of paranoia that was well warranted, it seemed. First he took a shower, and dressed in a clean set of clothes, and packed a few sets of clothes, his laptop, a couple of his knives, and several ingots of different metals, just in case. He closed the iron door, and slid his finger across the top, the deadbolt lock in the inside following his finger. Not taking much energy, that could stay for years if needed. He slung the bag over his shoulder, and walked back to the haven, stopping to order something to eat at the bar, not really talking to the bartender.

[Attn: Car occupants]

Vic was uncomfortable around the silent guy, but he looked at the redhead in the back with him as she looked him over and spouted questions. Her actions actually made him feel more at ease. It seemed like if she had questions like that then it couldn't be a planned trap. He would explain himself when they got to this so called haven though.

[Attn: Reticence, Trent, Alyssa, Haven]

Once he walked into the hotel Vic let out a low whistle.
"Woooo. What a money-bags monster ya got going on here."
In response to Reticence talking about the silent man he just gave an affirming nod, "Noted."

He took the room key with a grin and made a few quick punches in front of Trent.
"Bell hop! Man you look like you workout almost as much as boss man here! I'm gonna have to check out the gym. First, I gotta head out and pick up Victoria. She's been the only thing keeping me one step behind Reticence here instead of five."

He looked to Alyssa when she introduced herself.
"Yeah, guess I'm the new guy. I'm a Mancer, an Aesthimancer to be exact. I can cause telekinetic blasts around me through my aura that have different effects based on what my focus and emotion is. I'm looking for my big bro Ciro. Those Organization punks have 'im and I'm gonna get 'im back!"
He got a bit embarrassed at his outburst toward the end and shook Alyssa's hand to make amends, "But yeah, nice to meet ya Alyssa."

Vic then gave a sidelong glance to Reticence. His face became hard and impassive.
"I don't understand though... Why go to all this trouble? Why not jus' focus solely on takin' down The Organization and let everyone else fend for themselves? Do you expect somethin' of me? I don't like debts. Once I have Ciro we are gone."
He voiced to the youth his concerns. He could not get into this full of doubt.

{Attn: Open}

Kenora looks at her phone at sighs. She puts it back in her pocket and enters the room again. She stays in the back, the picture of a wallflower. There is going to be quite the mess for her to pick up after this ends. She smiles, kind of reminds her of home and Ashley’s parties. She grabs a soda and hovers the food table as she waits for any word.

[Attn: Reticence, Trent, Alyssa]

Vic liked that Reticence spoke so directly.
"Alright, good to know. It's just, this is so convenient I thought it too good to be true. I might have more questions when I get back."

He had taken in what Alyssa said and wondered at her jovial attitude concerning his lack of inclusion.
"Oh, and I'll keep the peace, but if what she says is true then expect problems from me. I don't just want info and sit back on my heels. If I have a way to Ciro I'm takin' it. Leave me out of the loop and consider the peace broken."

Vic did not wait for a reply he just walked off and headed out. Taking a cab a few blocks from the house they had settled in he walked up to the crumbling place. He almost broke his legs last time he walked through the den area. He entered through the back after tapping a few times for his signal.

Victoria ran over to him. Her heels made a symphony creaking on the old boards.
How does she walk in those in a place like this?
He thought and waited for her to reach him.

"Well? How'd the interrogation go at the Asylum? I was worried Dryer's power got you locked up. You took longer than the time we set for this mission."
Vic shrugged and handed her the room key.
"Dr.Dryer did not have our info. Reticence was there. This time he did not blow the place up though and well, he's actually a pretty smooth guy. He caught Dryer himself with help from two others."

Victoria moved the room key around in her hands.
"Reticence!? But what is this then?"
Vic gave a wide grin.
"Reticence himself has... deep pockets which explains a lot. He has a place of us to stay rent-free!"
Victoria looked at him in disbelief. Vic shrugged again but his smile stayed.
"I had trouble believing him too, but the guy said it hurts The Organization to help the other Mancers. Keeps us from being further resources for them. Makes sense. Apparently he had it all set up for a while now. I still can't believe The Organization has not infiltrated a place like that."

Victoria handed him the key back. She still seemed a little unsure, but she turned and walked off.
"I will get my things. This is an odd turn of events. If it is some kind of lowdown Organization trap you fell for then consider the first hole I put in anything will be through your head."
Vic laughed and put his hands over his heart.
"You are such a charmer ya know that? Gimme some credit! If they were going to catch me it would've happened by now!"
He yelled after her.

Xoia got up from the bar after getting something small to eat at the bar. He wanted to get back to his room. He walked to the elevator, and pushed the 6, which is what it said on his key. When he got to the 5th floor, he heard music, and what sounded like a small party. Well, it wouldn't hurt to meet some of the people if he was going to be staying here.

He pressed the button to stop the elevator, and walked down to the room where the music was playing, knocking on the door.

{Attn: Xoia, open}

Kenora barely hears the knock on the door as the party is going on. She walks over and opens it. Her eyes widen when she sees Xoia on the other side. She instantly forgets about the party and closes the door. “You guys are back! Please tell me did you find her, Fin’s grandmother that is. Is she safe? Where is she? Is Elrich back?” Her eyes are filled with eagerness as she shoots off the questions.

Xoia smiled at Kenora. "Of course we found her. And we saved an entire asylum of people held hostage. I believe that Erich is showing around a new member to the haven. Actually, i don't believe that i ever got a proper tour either. Would you mind showing me around sometime?"

{Attn: Xoia, Open}

Kenora smiles brightly. She is so happy for Fin. A part of her wonders if he knows, he hasn’t called her to tell her the good news. Unless…unless he was using her to get his grandmother back. She looks from Xoia to her room and back again. “Well most of the good places you need permission to go into, like the Mancer specific rooms. That you need to ask permission from Trent to visit. The other places are open to the public. And I really shouldn’t leave the party, seeing it is in my room and all.” She eyes him wearily. “So what room are you in anyway?”

[ATTN: Open]

“Laptop, here.”

Vivian held out one hand as Michael passed over his laptop. The two were back in the kitchen, the bottle of whiskey safely tucked away as the two went back to business.

As Vivian flipped the laptop open and turned it on, Michael stared down at her, searching. It had taken a while for them all to pull themselves back together – especially Caroline. Her tough act had been a brave attempt to try and hide her real fear for him. He remembered embracing her in their room as she silently cried down into his chest.

“Say the word and I’ll pull out,” he had whispered, and Caroline, to his surprise, shook her head and looked up at him. The look in her eyes was determined, even through her tears.

“No,” she said, unwavering. “This is important to you, isn’t it? You hate everything about that organization and yet you honestly care about her.”

“Caroline – “

“No, of course I know not like that,” she said, giving a forced laugh. “You’re too honest to cheat. But if she’s one of them and she’s gained your trust, she must be worth something. And besides…” she had added, almost to herself.

“What?”

“No, it’s nothing.”

“What is it?”

Caroline screwed up her face and rubbed at her eyes. “I’m not sure. I just… it seems that she – Ms. Nguyen – she feels almost… vulnerable, to me. She does a d*** good job of hiding it, but…” She gave a half shrug. “Maybe I’m imagining it.”

“Password?”

Michael jerked out of his reverie as Vivian looked up at him. He gave her the password to his computer quickly, and she nodded, typing it in and pulling out a flash drive from inside her skirt pocket. He studied her again as she tapped quickly into the computer. She seemed fine – her usual stern, cold self – but he could still remember her breakdown in the lab, before she had ‘banished’ him. She seemed to have pulled herself together, but…

“Alright,” she said then, “I haven’t had the chance to check out these files in detail yet. Pull up a chair.”

Michael obliged. “By the way, Caroline has called her sister,” he commented. “Her husband will be driving by to pick her up and take her somewhere safe soon. In the meantime, she asked me to let you know that our house is available for you to stay at.”

Vivian looked up, momentarily caught off guard. “That’s kind of her,” she said, turning back to the computer as she started opening up the files. “That’s… huh. I might have to take you up on that offer.”

Michael leaned forward in his chair and peered over at the files. This sort of thing had never been his forte – Vivian was always much better at the planning. There was a reason she had made Lieutenant, after all.

“Oh!” she said suddenly, slapping the table. “Before that, I need to update you on what’s been happening. First off, the Neolites have moved on to trying to accuse me of embezzlement. I have a man on it to find out details, but it sounds like they’ve done their homework.”

“Sounds fantastic,” Michael said dryly, and Vivian smirked. Michael twitched as he thought back to the woman – the sound of her neck snapping as she fell – and cut his eyes away from her. Guilt raced through him. He should probably tell Vivian about it, but… why did he feel so terrible about it? She was an enemy, likely a mancer from the way she was influencing his emotions, she could have gotten him taken and killed, and yet…

“And two,” she said, starting to dig around in her purse, and Michael forced the thoughts to the back of his mind, hiding his shame. He’d tell her later – yes, later, when he had calmed down about it. “Hm. They’re still at the office. I suppose it’s safer that way. Anyway, I’ve been given a new… assignment, that I want you to be in on. It’s too dangerous to discuss here.”

“As you say, ma’am,” he said quickly. Vivian nodded, turning back to the files.

“Alright. Let’s see what gold you’ve found for me, Hughes,” she said, sounding almost pleased as the two of them started going through the files in detail.

"I am on the next floor up. I heard the party and thought that i might introduce myself. Though it is nice to see a familiar face. Would you mind introducing me to some of your friends? I had a bit of a difficult time, and will probably hang around at least the rest of the day before heading back out. I still need to get to work rebuilding my store..." He seemed to catch himself mid sentance. "Forgive me, this is no time. This is a party after all."

{Attn: Xoia, Finley, Open}

Kenora gets a puzzled look on her face. “Friends, oh no they aren’t my friends, well at least not yet…” She could kick herself for sounding like an antisocial recluse. “What I mean to say is we are pretty new here too. It started out as two sisters hanging out, and the others came by to welcome us. I only officially met one other person.”

She places her hand on his shoulder. “I am sorry for what happened to their store. I went over to check out the damage. I wouldn’t doubt if they say it was another da*n gas leak. I hope you get it up and running again. If you need any help, let me know.”

She opens her door and waits for him to enter. “Come on you need to celebrate a little, you saved some people from the Organization. She pulls out her phone. She texts Finley a message. *I just heard the good news about your grandmother. Congrats, Kenora* She gets a frown on her face wondering why she is doing this, but she has to see it through to the end at least.

[ATTN: Kenora, Open]

As Fin ran along, he was suddenly alerted by his phone that he had a message. Without slowing down he took his phone out and read it; it turned out to be a message from Kenora congratulating him on his grandmother's return. He mentally slapped himself, how could he have forgotten her? She was part of the reason why this had happened at all, and in his excitement he hadn't thought to thank anyone.

He slowed to a stop and typed the message: Thank you so much, Kenora, for what you and your friends have done. I am forever in your debt and I hope someday I'll be able to repay even a fraction of it. All the best, Fin. He sent it, then started running again.

By the time he made it to Zelesti, he was pretty winded. He walked around until he found Century Apartments, then entered the building. He went to the front desk and found a woman there.

"Excuse me, has anyone by the name of Leona Sunden come here recently?" he asked.

Xoia walked into the room, quickly reading the people dancing in the middle of the room. Not seeing any of them as a threat, he relaxed. He saw the lights, heard the beat of the music, and let go a little bit. Hanging around the edge, he stayed by kenora, talking to her.

"Thank you for your concern, but I built it once, i can do it again. Thank you for inviting me in, by the way."

{Attn: Xoia, Fin, open}

“You are welcome. I am sure you will.” Kenora watches him as he looks around. He looks like he can relax a little. “Go ahead, have fun. I am not a social butterfly. Odd right, I can take care of complete strangers in a store, but when it comes to a party I am awkward.” She points as a pink haired girl by the stereo. “That is Ashley, my sister, and that girl over there is Leslie. That is all I know.”

She feels her phone vibrate again. She takes is out and reads it. She smiles as she reads it. *No need to thank me, I didn’t save your grandmother at all. If you feel you must repay me, how about another date? One of these time we are bound to have a normal date.*

"I'm the same way, actually. There's always been something better to do than socialize. Working, practicing, there's always enough to do to fill up all of my time. Its not easy running your own business. Between that, learning how to make everything I sell, and practicing with my ability, I've haven't come to these kinds of things very often. I'm afraid I'm a bit out of my element as well."

Kenora looks at Xoia. “Really, I would have figured someone as good looking as you would have a full social life.” She plays with her ponytail a little. “I apologize for my appearance. I usually don’t dress like this. Like I said I was expecting this just to be my sister and me.”

Aryon was laying on floor when he was shaken by a loud bang. He opened his eyes, he couldn't tell what was going on, he was half awake. Finally he gathered all senses to see he was covered up to his chest in rubble. He took a deep breath then blew, blowing it off of him. With that problem solved, he tried to get a sense of what was going on, he thought about what he did when he realised, the guild. He saw a window and tried to climb out, it was a terribly, small squeeze but he made it out, fliping forward. He srouched ounce he landed on his feet and took off running.

After a convienient time skip from the writters absence; Tom the Awesomemancer finaly arrived at The Haven with pockets stuffed with pilfired lightbulbs, a video tape called 'Police Camera Footage', and shards of broken glass stuck to his hand after a bad descison to smash a window.
"Owwww owwww, Why did I think that was a good idea to break a pane of glass? Guess it's dosen't just smash away from your hand afterall like in the movies and stuff. Why didn't you warn me sock puppet?" Awesomeancer babbled, finishing with a quizical look at the sock puppet who merely grunted; "Would of been funnier if I didn't"
Awesomeancer pondered on this for a few moments, deceding against showing his thoughts in italics and keeping them hidden before giggling and agreeing; "Yup, I can't blame ya. Hand still hurts though." He then shoved his truncheon down between his shirt and his jacket as he knocked on the door of The Haven, for some rason with his injured hand and murmered a few 'ows' with each knock, despite it being an automatic door.
"Okay, peoples can let me in now! I got the lightbulbs that Laura wanted! Hello? Anyone there which I can make a huge amount of fun of? Anyone? Do any of of you have a casset player? Hello? Ummmm, I have pizza!" Awesomeancer babbled before realising the pizza trick rarely worked against anyone who didn't order a pizza or wasn't an adolescent anthrrmorhpic turtle with knowledge of ninjitsu.
