Taeyrn Stennoth: Room I
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Taeyrn is looking at the door handle with his symbol--with his symbol--on it and he feels rage build up within him.  It's his symbol, his personal truth and his own part of himself that shouldn't be on some damned doorknob to a fucking place within a lair of some damned kind to a fucking King that's destroying worlds and universes across all of the universes of lives and families that could ever exist.  His fists clench up tightly at his sides and Delilah is there asking about the symbol, but he hears someone else--Maresca, the frail one.  She recognizes a symbol, too.  It calms him a little.  He isn't the only one violated here.  He knew that--he already knew that, but...the confirmation consoles him.

Catherine voices the very question that is on Taeyrn's mind and he nods his head to Delilah to confirm that he does, in fact, know the symbol on the door before him.  Catherine's door opens and and Claire's touching her doorknob--they all have their door.  Will they split up?  Is everyone going to split up, now?  Is that what they are supposed to do?  From his angle, he can't see what is through Catherine's door, but he knows that he's not going through "his" door.  Fuck that.

Catherine's door opens to reveal a cylindrical shaped room after the entrance, just in the distance.  It's a pristine place, tiled and washed, with a doctor's bed in each proper place with a doctor's tools next to each.  Yet, the beds are empty.  There are no patients, but this is clearly a sterile room for a doctor of some kind.  The top of the room, with its very high ceiling, is lit by something that is quite out of place--a grand chandelier of purple lighting.

Although the lighting of the room that dominates the place is predominantly white, the light up there at the top of the room where they cannot reach is purple.  The white walls slowly fade upwards from white to purple from the light's shine as one looks up into the very tall room.  There are a total of three beds, each of which is equipped with a pillow and a blanket, ready to be occupied, but nothing is here.  There are no sounds, no occupants.  The tools that are placed out are perfectly placed, as if prepared by a perfectionist, one with OCD.  The room is neat.  A place for everything and everything in its place.

As Catherine has opened her door, Claire has opened hers, and what lies beyond it differs by far.  The shape, the hue, the feel...everything is so vastly different in mood and it is just heart breaking to see it upon first glance.

It's a weeping woman in a cage.  The cage isn't physical, but magical.  The bars glow with glowing lights of a deep red and the entire room is cubic in shape, matching the cage in shape, but larger in size to encase it perfectly with symmetry of such perfection.  Unnerving perfection.  The walls are stone with elaborate carvings of dark things--stories of tortures, deaths, demons, devils, slavery, evisceration, mass murders, and more.   The cage is what lights up the room with its red glow--there are no torches here.  All other lights that enter here are snuffed out immediately.

Yet, the room, in all of its depravity, it's dark depth, its cold emptiness, its creep factor...that is not, by far, the worst of it.  It's the woman in the cage.  She's not just in it.  There's a huge, gaping hole in her torso, and her silver hair and noble clothing, which Tae can tell would normally be beautiful, is all mussed up and bloody as she sits in her own pool of blood.  An empty scabbard is at her waist and tattered golden wings drop to the floor from her back, flightless, motionless.  She's an older woman with dagger in her hand--a dagger that she has been carving into the floor.  In one corner, it says "I am Ilyana of Justice," but most of the floor is just...tally marks.  Tally marks.

The broken angel speaks, "No, Claire isn't here.  Claire isn't real."

Maresca sees others open up their doors and backs away from hers.  She moves so she can see the inside of the doors.  After surveying the room and looking at Claire and Catherine “Are these portals somehow connected to our worlds?”  She asks above a whisper as not to attract attention from those on the other side of the doors.  “I recommend we go in them as a team and not split up.” She hopes they agree to help Miss Ilyana as she seems to be worst off.

She wonders about Ilyana’s statement though.  She said that Claire is not real.  Does that mean somehow they were erased from their world?  If she opened her door, will her teammates know her?  Or is Ilyana saying this to protect Claire?  She looks at the others for their opinions.

He never thought he'd see the day there would be something worse than the Folk. But it had come. Black tendrils of death that seemingly were draining the life of the very world. He and his kin could sense it more than their human companions. He had a feeling that whatever the Folk were, they could, too. Their attacks hand lightened.

However, there seemed to be nothing they could do. Approaching the tendrils drained the life out of whoever approached it and decayed whatever technology came near it. He among other top scientists were working around the clock but coming up with nothing. It defied everything.

Despair had fallen throughout the colony. While larger number of humans had given up, so, too, had some of his brethren. It was disgraceful, and his attempts to rouse his people had not been as successful the last time. It was disappointing, but he hadn't even suspected his last post to have gone as viral as it had.

It was to the surprise of all when all the monitors came on one late morning and a gargoyle that no one had ever seen before came onto the monitor. He referred to himself as "The Visitor." The tendrils that were eating away at their world were at the hands of a "King Ness." He challenged the most hardy and worthy of warriors to come to their world's aid.

"There will be challenges you must complete to reach him," the Visitor explained, 'Trails and tests of all like. However, you will not be alone. You will have others who must, likewise, save their homes...save their entire worlds. Just like you.'

Ragnarok didn't hesitate when this Visitor appeared before them. As he walked forward, a small circle rose into a pillar into the sky. The Visitor instructed him to step onto the platform where the battle would begin. Ragnarok entered the portal and disappeared.

Claire could feel the tears welling up in her troubled eyes. How could someone torture anyone this much. "ILYANA!" She cried. "Don't say those words. I am real. I am going to save you." She said as she started to run into the room.

She didn't think twice as she ran into through the hall. "I'm going to save you no matter what." She said as she reached the cage. She looked around the room and then fell onto her knees with a loud clank from her armor. "Oh Ilyana, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were here being tortured. If I had only known sooner..." her voice drifted off. She stood back up. "If you can stay back. I'm going to change forms and break the cage."

She put her feet side by side and her arms in the air. "Ursa Majora!" She said. She began to grow into a grizzly bear and roared out as she landed on all fours. She looks at the cage and takes a swipe at the cage and roars out in pain as fur fell off, singed from the burn of the cage.

The carved knob turned, the door smoothly opened, and Catherine winced her eyes at whatever may be on the other side. But there was nothing to threaten her. Instead, an open room similar to a surgery room, primped and cleaned to perfection. Is this some kind of cruel joke? Catherine thought to herself with widened eyes. As she took her first steps into the corridor before her, she heard a loud scream across the rounded room the whole group were in. Catherine turned to see Claire dashing through a separate door, surrounded by curious onlookers. Whatever was in that room must have been a garish sight, but pristine medical tools awaited Catherine in her room, so she continued down the hall.

Inside, she found found herself in an operation room of her dreams. Everything was neatly placed, no stains. The beds actually didn't have dried blood on them! Catherine picked up one tool at a time, marveling at its mint condition. "My god, I haven't seen a scalpel this crisp in forever..." She took out her personal scalpel from her bag and compared the quality of the two. One of them had clear signs of previous use, despite Catherine's rigorous sterilization methods. "Whoever owns this place must love me. I could remove a kidney in 10 minutes flat with this stuff." Catherine gasped. "I have to draw this!" She then planted herself on one of the beds and opened her book to an empty page. She then drew her pencil from the book's spine and began sketching the various items in the room with intense detail.

Raid: King Ness - Page 2 Empty Re: Raid: King Ness

Post by JulietHasAGun 14th August 2017, 12:03 am

As Tae nods to her, she sees the two women; Claire and Catherine, both from the same world. Open their doors. Odd, Tae had seemed rather reluctant to open his- seemingly overwhelmed by trepidation and nervousness. They all seemed to have a door; she walked curiously from door to door, craning her neck around. Tae had his, though he had not yet opened it, the girl, Maresca, seemed to recognize another symbol. Catherine and Claire already opened the doors which symbols they recognized. Catherine's seemed to be a meticulously cleaned operating room; meticulously organized- and yet, there was something eerie about it.

She was coming up to Claire's room, turning her head away- she was sure there had to be one for he-

The moment her head swiveled to face Claire's room, a shriek left her mouth, and her hands went to cover it. She heard the wooden patter of her staff hitting the floor echo across the room. The blue glow that overwhelmed her body stopped on a dime.

Delilah had seen many horrors as her world collapsed- but none, none were in any way comparable to the one she was currently looking at.

Etchings of horrific deeds, slavery, sacrifice, murder, death- oh so much death- smattered the walls- so elaborate, so terribly elaborate. Yet, somehow, that is not the worst of it. At the center of the room- in an eerie, red glow; there sits a woman, in a cage. The woman is younger than her, though only by a few years, her clothing is bloody, fine, but in tatters; she looks every bit a broken women- sitting, wounded, a hole in her chest, in a pool of her own blood- Oh god, so much blood.

Delilah can feel something rise within her throat, she can feel herself retch over, and heave. Her hands clasp tightly around her mouth as she doubles over, trying to look away, even though just for a moment. Bile and vomit fill her mouth as she heaves once more- trying to keep it from spilling out onto the floor. She could feel tears sting at her eyes. Was this in every room? Her wide teary eyes darted around- A personal hell, made for each and every one of them?

Her stomach sank, as her eyes finally found her own. 'C.E.T.E'. What awaited her beyond that door? Was it Pierce, in a position similar to that of this poor, poor woman. She wanted to run to it, fling it open, kick the door down and confront whatever hell was waiting for her- but also, as her eyes fell back to the wounded woman, she was scared- terrified.

And she knew someone needed her help first.

'Who does this!?' She thought, in shock, in horror, in abject disbelief at what lay beyond the door. 'What monster could be capable of this? This cruelty!?'

She had to do something.

Once she stopped retching, heaving and heaving, she quickly straightened herself, wiping the spittle that escaped her lips off on her pants. She saw Claire turn into a bear- though it didn't even fully register. She saw it- she knew she saw it- her brain accepted it as something that was going on. But Delilah couldn't even bring herself to react to it. She saw the bears claws swing at the cage, seeing the fur burn away at the touch, hearing the animal, Claire's, noise of pain.

She knew Catherine was in her room; she knew she was in there alone- but this woman needed her help far more desperately.

"C-Catherine..." She mumbled, knowing only Tae and Maresca would be able to hear her. "S-she's in her room...alone...somebody..somebody should.." Her eyes were wide as saucers, horrified, as she quickly took off inside of Claire's room.

"Claire!" She said hurriedly, cringing as she looked at her seared claw. Her hand reached up, smoothing itself over Claire's fur, as if trying to sooth her. "Claire- don't hurt yourself; allow me to help, please." Her voice cracked slightly, as the last word left her mouth- and she found herself wanting to double over again.

Oh, the smell- that awful smell of blood. It made her sick. But she couldn't be weak, she couldn't go off and heave in a corner. Someone needed her, this woman, Claire, they needed her help. They needed each others help.

She stood close to the cage now; and the woman, Ilyana, looking as pathetic of a sight as Delilah had ever seen, was trapped inside.

"Don't worry, sweetheart-" No, that was wrong. One of the agents had told her- 'sweetheart' was for girls, 'miss' or 'ma'am' was for women. But wasn't everyone a girl to her? "Ma'am, Ilyana- is that your name? It is a pretty name. Me and your friend Claire, you know each other, yes? We're going to get you out of here. You're going to be fine. Don't worry, Claire's real, she's here- and you're both going to be fine."

She focused, trying to use her telekinesis to rip the cage open; she was getting that woman out if it killed her. Her and Claire- Her face contorted in an expression of determination and focus, muttering soothing words to try to not only calm the women and Claire, but also herself. But- what would happen when they got her out?

"Medic!" She called out. "I need a medic!" For a moment there, she thought she sounded like Pierce.

Taeyrn Stennoth: Room I & II
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The doors open--two of them.  Tae moves to the center of the room to view both.  It's...a clean room.  Interesting.  However, Claire's and Delilah's response shock him.  He turns as Maresca talks about sticking together as a team.  Was she reading his mind?  He had just been thinking about that.  The woman might have mind-reading abilities...  There's no time to ponder on it.  The room here is vastly different.  Red with caged woman, bloody and trapped, weeping and talking.  Delilah is heaving, he moves to her instantly, focusing solely on helping her, holding her up and keeping her hair out of the way so as to avoid looking further into the room.

How is Maresca so calmly talking of sticking together?  There's a woman in a pool of blood and Delilah is freaking out, Claire is freaking out--is she autistic?  Perhaps she's autistic...Catherine is already in her room, he thinks--but he didn't see her go in, he was too distracted.  He's not entirely sure.

He hears a familiar sound behind him.  It's the familiar sound of the circles that brought them here, the blue ones.  He turns his head as he feels Delilah's absence--she must have entered the room, still hearing Delilah's panic from within there, her demands for a medic confirm that she has, in fact, entered the room.  Now a beast has entered.  A...winged creature of great proportions.  He pales.  A beast, the woman in the cage...now what?

He looks back into Catherine's room, where the door still rests open--yes, indeed, Catherine was there, looking calm and at peace.  He waves at her, choosing to ignore the ferocious beast that has now entered the center of the room.  "Catherine!  Doctor?!  This woman is bleeding all over the place and she's--w-we just found her in a cage!"

He looks back into the room of the carnage and moves into it, getting closer to the cage that seems completely unfazed by the bear that's attacking it, remembering that to be Claire.  He looks at the room with more detail and becomes nauseated.  Sickened, he tries not to look at too much as he looks into the cage at the angelic woman, rocking back and forth at the center saying the same phrase over and over to herself:  "It's not real.  They're not real."

Claire takes no time to rush in. Maresca rushes to hold the door open. She has to cover her nose from the overpowering odor of burnt flesh and fur. If she was not already somewhat desensitized to the odor, she would be vomiting like the others. She looks over at the other open door. “Keep that other door open, we don’t need to lose anyone.”

Her head snaps up when Delilah asks for a medic. “I can help stabilize her, but we will need Catherine's help….” Just then something captures her attention out of the corner of her eye. It is a large demon like creature appears in the room. Almost instantly light arrows form in front of the creature. Maresca’s heart races. Her hands appear to be illuminated as well. She musters up her courage to speak, but her eyes show the fear she is in. “Stop demon, or I will be forced to attack.”

Raid: King Ness - Page 2 Empty Re: Raid: King Ness

Post by Vye 14th August 2017, 7:46 pm

Catherine was halfway through drawing a bone chisel when the boy disrupted her. "What? Bleeding? Did you say a cage!?" She tucked the pencil away and grabbed her bag. When she stepped back into the main room, she saw a ghastly creature in some sort of armor. "What in Sam Hill is going on!?" Catherine scratched her head, bewildered that she never noticed such an odd sight before. And now Maresca is threatening the creature as if it killed her dog. Catherine almost forgot about the bloodied woman, but now she's not sure if she should let Maresca handle the monster or assist her. The creature didn't appear hostile, so she bolted across the room to Claire's door.

"You've got this, right?" She said to Maresca as she passed the woman by. Immediately after finishing that question, Catherine saw a room steeped in a red hue. Before Catherine caught sight of the cage, the stench of dying flesh and bloody entrails infiltrated her nostrils. It had been such a long time since she smelled something so foul. The odor forced her to stop for a second and get herself acclimated. Oh my god, did someone get their head chopped off? She continued into the room, completely awestruck by the unholy sight. "Dear lord up above, what happened here!?? I've seen people in bad shape, but-...wait..." Catherine took a closer look, stepping closer to the glowing cage. She stooped down with her arms around her knees. This woman seemed familiar. The hair, the clothes, the wings. Had they stumbled upon the guildmaster of Infinity Edge?

Judging by the fact that there's a frantic bear in the room, they found someone important. Well she certainly is bleeding, I can at least say that. Catherine stalked around the cage's perimeter, eventually finding the gaping hole in the woman's abdomen. Catherine placed one hand on her head and another on her hip, unable to form a sentence other than "What the fuck?"

The fist-sized hole must have punched clean though her liver, kidney, gallbladder; even her spine is missing where it should be. The blood loss alone should have killed the woman in a minute or two. Nothing Catherine could do would save her, and yet the woman is still moving, albeit very lethargically. "Uh, guys...I can't really explain this. She should be dead if she's been here longer than we have. And even then, there's nothing I can do for her. But still...with all the blood she lost and the organ damage sustained, the fact she's alive is a medical anomaly, unless she's some kind of...undead being. What the hell have I gotten myself into..."

Claire sees everyone in the room but she is frantic to get Ilyana out of the cage. She hit's it from the top this time with her other paw and singes the hair off again and roars out in pain from a burn. She doesn't want to hurt herself any longer nor does she want to see Ilyana in any more pain but she wants to get her out of there so bad.

Tear's well in her eyes as she lands on her paws. They are sore from where she burned her self but nothing that would bother her long in this form. She made her way over to Delilah and nudged her. She wondered if her powers could bend or even break the bars of the cage. If a bear could have a sad face, Claire was holding it right now on her face almost begging her to try. She could only pray that Catherine was wrong and that Ilyana would survive.

Raid: King Ness - Page 2 Empty Re: Raid: King Ness

Post by JulietHasAGun 15th August 2017, 8:06 pm

With great effort on Delilah's part, the bars started to pry apart, slowly, like a strongman bending metal with his bare hands. She felt Claire gently nudging her, her fur tickling her through her clothing.

She saw sun spots speckle across her eyes as she looked down at Claire's 'sad bear face', and a sting ring out across her head- the only sensation comparable to it that Delilah could draw, would be staring at a TV screen too close, for too long, and feeling the burn rip through your skull.

As much as she wanted to help the woman, she had to pull away at some point, or the pain would be too much for her.

Luckily, she heard a noise exactly like the one that had beckoned them here. She stopped her telekinetic pull, taking a moment to blink furiously, balancing herself.

"Claire- is there anything you could do to convince her we're real? She's terrified. Maybe try to reach through the gap I created, offer her your hand? Touch usually brings people down to reali-"She turned to see....a....Gargoyle? In some sort of space age armor, standing plainly, as they once had. Looking almost exactly like a character from some comic book-

And Maresca, pointing what seemed to be arrows directly at him.

"Goodnesss sake!" Delilah's hand shot out, and a blue, crackling barrier appeared around the man- creature, thing. Whatever he was, he was enveloped in a small, luminescent blue dome like barrier. She shot out her other hand, summoning her staff to with a telekinetic pull. "Maresca-" Delilah stormed towards the door.

Few things in the world were known to make Delilah mad; even fewer to make her truly furious.

Casually ignoring a wounded, trapped woman sitting in a puddle of her own blood, in favor of shoving weapons in the face of newcomer, and punctuating it with a thinly veiled threat? That, that made her veer rather close to 'furious'.

"I do know know which world you might hail from, but in mine we do not casually throw weapons in the faces of those standing there. Namely those who are standing where we once stood." She would have cared for the fear on the womans face, had it not been now used as justification for aggression towards what seemed to be a bystander. She took a deep breath, setting her staff on the ground and standing straight, trying to not let her rash anger taint her reasoning. "Now, you are not keen on helping Claire's gravely wounded and suffering friend? Fine. But perhaps remove your arrows from this mans face so he could at least try to make the effort."

The womans disregard to the suffering before her had irked her long enough, but now her blatant aggression towards another while an innocent lie suffering? That, that had been enough.

[Attn: Open]

The initial part of the trip was alarming with sudden paralysis, but as he was thrust into infinite, it became a relaxing trip, a contentment he hadn't known since he was a hatchling flowing through him as he felt the weightlessness of flying -- only without using his wings. Just as he was beginning to relax into it, it was over and the solidity of weight once more beneath his talons. The walls slid down, revealing a room of dark stone. Then bedlam.

His senses were bombarded. Humans were rushing around -- did he hear someone was injured? His nose crinkled as the odors of blood, death, and entrails filled them. He lifted a hand to shield his eyes from the sudden bright light that had appeared in his face, taking an involuntary step back. He blinked rapidly, finding...light in the shape of arrows leveled at his head and a barrier of some kind surrounding him, causing a light crackling sound around him.

He locked onto the woman who leveled a sudden threat at him. Why were they acting so hostile? Her fear scent was sharp, but not as bad as the smell of blood and death coming from the room behind her. His eyes widened -- there were atrocities on the walls. His eyes suddenly glowed in outrage, but he was snapped out of it by hearing an older woman suddenly scolding the younger for her hostile actions.

He remained silent a moment. He didn't want to be hasty, but he didn't want to dawdle, either. He could smell fresh blood of the injured.

"I..." he began in his rumbling voice, "do not know why you seek hostilities, but I mean you no harm. Was I correct in hearing that someone is injured? I can certainly smell them. May I be of aid? I brought my first aid kit." He certainly seemed to have hit the ground running.

Tae crosses his arms, staring at the walls with thinly veiled trepidation. He figures it's pointless to hide his panic; but he still tries to keep it under control. He knows acting out, screaming as Delilah did, would help nothing. He allows Delilah to pry apart the bars, watching as Claire singes her hands- er- paws, trying to do what Delilah seemed to be doing with her magic.

He observed as she stopped, turning to shield the 'guest', demon, whatever he was - and chew out Maresca. He was surprised by her act of aggression, but decided to remain uninvolved.

'Not a leader my ass,' He thought to himself, listening to the tongue lashing Delilah delivered to the younger woman. 'At least now we can move on.'

He looked back into the room, back at the corpse like woman, who was still rocking back and forth, denying their existence. The woman, Catherine, had said it herself- she shouldn't be alive. Hell, he was inclined to believe her.

He was scared, to reach in, to try to help her- His mouth had been kept firmly shut; and it would stay that way, until he figured out what to say. Or what not to say. Was she real? Was she not? Was this all a trick? Hell if he knew.

Delilah’s words and actions bring Maresca back to this reality.  This is no longer her world this creature with the odd plating is not the same as the demons on her world.  The creature’s words confirm it. The light arrows disappear and she looks up at the creature before bowing her head.  “I ask for your forgiveness.  I acted before I thought.  It is creatures similar to you, albeit without the flashy plating, that I was fighting against on my world before King Ness came.  With the horrific scene from that room, I was taken back to it emotionally.”  She walks away from him and toward the room once again.

She then looks over at Delilah while approaching Ilyana.  “I won’t be able to heal her entirely.  Regeneration of body parts is not possible, I will do what I can though.”  She carefully approaches and touches the woman.

Raid: King Ness - Page 2 Empty Re: Raid: King Ness

Catherine tapped her finger against her chin as she pondered over the unusually lively body in front of her. She's clearly alive, even though she's missing a chunk of her body, and she appears to have the mental health of a schizophrenic. This person can't be natural. Nothing about this is natural. She merely watched in silence as Delilah attempted to pry the bars open, only to be interrupted by Maresca's antics. Catherine peeked through the doorway, watching Delilah give her new team mate a stern talk. She turned back to the bloody cage, thinking of what to summon to deescalate the situation. And then it hit her. "Ah! What if we take the cage to the room I opened? At least we'll have some more light, and the tools in there will be more adept at...well I wouldn't say 'fixing' her, but at least assessing the damage more closely."

Claire stood up again and began to glow. Slowly she turned back into her human form and sat down. She listened to Delilah before she ran out of the room to help Maresca and a new comer. She reached through the bars and put her hand on Ilyana's. "Don't worry Ilyana, we are going to save you." She said.

She looked up at Catherine. "The bar's burn if you touch them and I don't know what kind of damage it did to Delilah before she stopped trying to bend the bars. We have to get her out of this cage before we can get her into the room that you are talking about." Claire said. She turned her attention back to the bars. "Though she did get a good bit opened, I don't know how to open it enough to get her out. I don't want to burn Ilyana to get her out of there. She has been through enough torture."

Ilyana sits up as she hears them discussing taking her out of the cage and into another room. She looks from one person to the other, frantic shock and fear written across her face as she shakes her head, "N-no. No, no, no. Listen to me, Claire. Listen to me. If you're real, you have to go back! Do you understand? When Ravage tore me apart in the war...I really didn't die, but I didin't come back, Claire. Do you understand what I'm saying? The Ilyana in my body isn't me! It's an imposter! I need you to go back!"

Tae continues to observe the walls, the sadistic carvings; silent, a mere observer in the conversations around him.

Delilah nods to Maresca, she was still mad- but at least the woman was now making an effort. She looks to the newcomer, whisking away the barrier with a wave of her hand and a slight, electric, crackle.

"Hello, friend. I apologize for her...threat. I assure you we mean you no harm." She looks back to the room she departed from for a moment. "I apologize, I am Delilah, but for now introductions will be short- we will have to wait until we have helped Claire's friend- she's...in a bad way, you could say." She gestures for the newcomer to follow her, leading him into the room where she hears the woman speak her first coherent thought.

Who was Ravage? What did she mean 'not the real Ilyana'? What war? Go back? Could any of them go back?

"I am sorry, Miss Ilyana, but...how would we even go about, 'going back'? And is this...er...'imposter' the reason you sit in this cage?" She quirked her head slightly. This entire situation went from horrifying, to weird and horrifying.

[Attn: Group]

Once again, all at once. "It is alright," he said. "I...have never heard of evil gargoyles. Yours must be a truly..."

The woman responsible for the barrier dispelled it and introduced herself. "I am Ragnarok," he answered her with a respectful bow of his head. "May shade find you this day." At her invitation, he followed her into the room...and the horrors glimpsed from outside increased. He'd seen and had to help mend grievous wounds after vicious run-ins with the Folk, but he'd never seen such...premeditation in the atrocities. Well, he had with that racist killer, but nothing on this level. But there was no time for such thoughts.

He did what he always did in moments of battle: tucked his thoughts away and focused on the situation. A giant red cage of glowing energy. An injured woman battle scarred and worn. For all intents and purposes, she should be dead. But she wasn't. The glowing cage gave him pause, however.

He held up his wrist and activated his tech band. The holographic interface came up immediately. He ran a preliminary scan on the cage. "It's not any energy that I can make out. By all accounts, it seems to be...sorcery..."

He turned the scanner on the woman. Her condition was critical. According to this, she should be dead, and with the missing portion of her spine, her legs shouldn't even be working. He looked to the others. "Have you been able to reach through the bars, at least?"

Maresca looks up at Claire as Ilyana spoke. She retracts her hand. Is anything in the rooms real? The one that Catherine opened seemed too clean. Maresca has never seen a room so white before. “Are any of the rooms real? Or is it a trap for each of us.” She removes her hand from Ilyana. “I know it is hard Claire, but our only way back is to beat King Ness. We should focus our energies there. Then we can stop the terror on our own worlds.” She doesn’t even know if opening her door will be good at this point.

She watches the new teammate as he activates a bracelet on his wrist. “Whoa, what is that?”

Claire raised an eyebrow at Ilyana. She was slightly confused. How could this not be her? "I don't understand Ilyana. This is even more confusing then before. Even if you aren't who you say you are, I can't just leave you here to die. That is not in my nature." She said.

She looked up and saw as everyone else walked into the room. There was a new person among them, but it was not time for greetings from her. "I wish I could wish you a happy greeting, but this is not a good time for that. I want to help her but she says we must leave. We must take down King Ness if we want to help her, I'm sure."

Ilyana says weakly, "The imposter in my body keeps me from my own. That's why I'm trapped here--not this cage. The cage is just meant to be here so that this room can be my...own personal hell."

Tae, who's back is to the wounded woman, listens carefully as she replies to Delilah's inquiry. He tries to ignore the woman's crying after Claire has taken her leave of the room. Damn. It takes some strength to leave a friend in a room like this. Still, what does she mean by that? Personal hell?

A part of that phrase just seems to ring with truth to him. Is this room meant to be her personal hell? Is it really? Or is it meant to be Claire's? After all, it was her symbol on the doorknob, beckoning her to open it, tantalizing her with the mystery. Wait...well, it didn't seem like Catherine's room was much of a hell. How does that work?

Taeyrn moves up to Delilah and the woman in the cage, his face filled with nausea and contemplation. "These pictures...they mean nothing. There's no story, no pattern that I can see. I do think....I think they are here for show, just like Ilyana says. What do you think?"

Raid: King Ness - Page 2 Empty Re: Raid: King Ness

Delilah does not hesitate in her response to the woman, kneeling down to look her in the eyes.

"Tell us how to get to your world, tell us how to free your body of this imposter." She wishes to take the woman from this room, somewhere far away, but knows that would only be a temporary solution. "Miss Ilyana, I swear to you if there is any way I can get you back to your body and out of this place, I will do whatever it takes- this I promise." It takes every ounce of strength within her to prevent her voice from cracking.

She looks up at Tae as he comes to her side. "It is....to unnerve, I assume. It has succeed in doing so. Or, it has something to do with what has happened to her world, what caused her to be here. 'Reliving failures' is a sign of severe trauma as I am told." She doesn't want to ask Ilyana if she is correct, part of her doesn't want to be. She wants to be wrong. "Or, it could be universal. Being locked in a room like this for god knows how long would break anyone.

Ilyana weeps, "I-I don't know.  I don't know how to go home.  I just want to go home, now."

Her heart breaks for the woman, but she cannot help her if she doesn't know how. "Miss Ilyana, I want to help you get home; but to do that I need to know how you got here, who brought you?" Her voice is now a gentle, soothing lull, like that of one trying to settle someone after a nightmare- which seemed rather fitting in this poor womans circumstances.

Ilyana's eyes grow cold, distant, as if she's looking into another space or time, "I came here when I died.  WHen my body was possessed by another being."

'Slightly creepy, but I suppose she's earned that right.' "So," She started awkwardly. "Is it safe to say then that you as you are now is your...'soul', yes? You do not know what the being possessing your body is? But if we get rid of them, you shall return to your body?"

Ilyana looks down at herself then back up to Delilah, "This must be my soul.  How else can I possibly be alive?  I must be...actually dead.  Sh-should I...try to move on?  Should I try to die?"

Delilah's eyes widened. "No, no! If your body still exists, then you can return. If your body is alive, and you are here there should be a....tether? A tether, yes. Whatever is in your body, if I remove you shall return. Your world needs you, Ilyana. Your...er....'Guild'? Something is infecting all of our worlds, and if you are as important as your title suggests, it will need you." She had no idea what a 'Guild Master' actually was or what they did; but with a word like 'Master' it had to be important right?

Taeyrn scowls, "So what are you going to do, then?"

"I....I'm trying to think. If we can get back to Ilyana and Claire's world, maybe we can find a way to get the imposter out of her body? Assuming we can convince people it's a fake." She looked back at Tae. "Did you see anything that might get us back? They couldn't have teleported us in here with all these rooms with no intention of us doing anything about them.

Taeyrn shakes his head, "Unless we find the Visitor or kill the King,  I don't think we get back."

"Then what are we supposed to do with all these rooms?" Her voice shifts to mild outrage. Why were they showing them this? Why!? Was it to rub their noses in how everything in their worlds had gone to shit- how even if they won nothing would ever be the same again!? She took a deep breath, her voice softening once again. "We can't...we can't just leave her here."

Taeyrn nods his head immeidately, "I agree.  I can't leave her here, either.  Wha-what about...um...wrapping up her wounds and having her walk with us?  Or...I don't know.  We coudl take her to Catherine's room.  It seems much nicer there."

Ilyana shrinks back from them, "I'm not leaving here.  I'm not leaving my cage."

She looks back to the woman, her voice softening so sweetly once again. "Ilyana, Miss Ilyana, why do you want to stay here? You told us it is your 'personal hell', so why do you want to remain? We want to help you, we don't want to leave you to suffer."

Ilyana shakes her head, "No.  I can't leave.  I just can't.  I'm not strong enough."

"Ilyana, you keep giving us vague answers. If we're going to help you, we need concrete ones. We need details, answers. We're not going to let you rot here." Delilah paused. "Is the cage...keeping you alive?" It would explain the aura, and how she was alive against all logic.

Ilyana nodded her head, "I think so.  I think it is."

"You think?" Delilah gave an almost unaudible sigh. "That's...fantastic. So you're saying we have to leave you here? I can't accept that. I can't accept that we're going to have to leave you here without helping you, leave you here to continue to suffer."

Ilyana smiles sadly, "It's okay.  Please.  Go.  I'm going to be okay.  Kill this King so I can go home."

Delilah felt something squeeze in her chest, a frown pinching across her face. "We can't..." She looked up at her companion. "Tae, we can't leave her...We can't. Can-" She stood, it was never Delilah's habit to abandon someone in such a state. But...there was no way to help her. None. There had to be....But any ways to do so eluded her. She stood, using her staff to steady herself as she looked down at Ilyana numbly. "I....We will save you, I promise." Her voice was quiet, hushed, and at its edges, broken.

Taeyrn sighs, "I can't leave her here, either.  Maybe we should...maybe we should try getting her out of the cage to see if anything happens."

'Don't tempt me.' "But what if what she's saying is right, what if it kills her? I can't...have her suffer this much only to end up with her blood on our hands because we were too stupid to listen." She exhaled unsteadily. "I hate to say it, but we're out of our depth, here. At least, I am."

Tae says, "I am, too.  But...it's her choice and if this...ends her life.  Isn't that a gift?  Isn't that rest something she deserves after all of this?"

She resists shooting him a sharp look. "The greatest gift we could give her is killing this....monster so she can go back to her own world. To her own body. To die after all this, as some imposter lays in your flesh, it would not be a gift- it would be an insult."

Tae frowns, "Yeah.  You're right.  I don't know who she is, but...anyone deserves better than this."

Delilah shakes her head. "She's broken, in some ways, no doubt about that. But she...she remembers. She remembers who she is. I think it's the only think keeping her together." She gives the poor woman one last look. "We will save you, Ilyana. I promise you that." She reaches out to the boy next to her, to steady herself, or to comfort him, she is unsure. "Let's go, Tae....let's...let's see what else is at risk."

Taeyrn says, "Are you sure?"

"Not at all." She responds matter-of-factly. "But it's the only option we have, that ensures she won't die."

Taeyrn stands, but not until after he looks Ilyana in the eyes and says, "We will come back for you.  We promise."

Delilah leads herself and Tae out of the room; hand gently on his shoulder, preventing herself from turning around.

She looks about the room. "Next?" She says, her voice almost forcefully sure.

Too much is going on and unlike on her world, there was no clear cut mission. They need a direction a least. She sees Delilah pull Tae out of the room with the injured person. “What you want to open more doors. They seem to be more of a distraction than anything else. We need to find a way to King Ness. Or maybe we should open them all, but not look inside. The world within is not real anyway.” Maresca says quietly, but with conviction. She does not want to open her door.

Raid: King Ness - Page 2 Empty Re: Raid: King Ness

While Catherine thought over the whole "stuck in cage" situation, the non human whipped out a fascinating gadget that she'd never seen before. A floating image appeared over his arm, and somehow he got some kind of measurements on the bars' energy. Confusing at best, but still fascinating. Catherine wanted to touch the image to see if it was some kind of light projection or a tangible object, but she restrained herself. Can't just poke at a man's toys in front of his face.

Things went from weird to outright dumbfounding as Ilyana finally spoke with some life in her. Imposter in her body? So this isn't the real her? Why would she be saying this? Catherine began to wonder if this was all a ploy. Why would an imposter reveal themselves like this? The whole thing made more sense as Delilah and Ilyana conversed. The great Ilyana, her soul trapped in a cage, weeping in pitiful sorrow. Ilyana's corporeal form is deceased, as far as they knew, so there was little point in trying to save a ghost. And the whole time they were there, Catherine was caught in a fit of frustration and amusement.

Her eyes gazed over Delilah's animated melodrama. She's already dead. Why are we trying to save her? Go back to my world? What will that accomplish? We were sent here to save the living. We're wasting so much time. Her gaze then fell on Ilyana. So this is the guildmaster of Infinity Edge? I don't even know if killing this king will bring you back. Her thoughts were interrupted by Delilah's virtuous pleas. How droll. Crying over a dead woman when an uncountable amount are dying by the second in other worlds. And that heroic passion, oh so moving. Catherine had to turn avert her eyes while covering the smile on her mouth.

Speak for yourself, dear. Can't keep all your promises. Seeing her reach out to Taeyrn, as if they were in a romance novel, put Catherine over the edge. She sealed one hand over her mouth, stifling the chuckle that wanted to burst out. Eyes squinting and face disfigured, it was hard to tell if Catherine was on the verge of crying or laughing. She could only turn away from the performance before her. Remember Chiron's words! Compose yourself! Catherine was the first to walk out of the room, hastily making distance between herself and the group. She then took a few deep breaths to gather herself before the others see her.

Raid: King Ness - Page 2 Empty Re: Raid: King Ness

Delilah froze at the...snickering. Behind her, for a moment she found it hard to tell whether the brief noise was Catherine crying...or laughing?

Snickering- she snickered. There was a warbly blue effect on Delilah's staff hand; as it took every ounce of self control Delilah had to not whip around and crack Catherine in her jaw. She was close enough to hear her- she was sure Claire would be unable to perceive the minute, muffled snicker. If she had- well, Delilah was almost sure she'd get to see her 'Ursa Majora' in action.

At least now she had no strong feelings about seeing the woman mauled.

Though, if a mauling hadn't occurred, Pierce had taught her enough about self defense for her to know her blow would have most likely been able to dislocate the woman's jaw.

It was disturbing how the two 'medical professionals' in the group also seemed to be the most heartless. Did the 'Hypocratic Oath' come with a separate clause of 'be ignorant and unsympathetic to the plights of others'?

Her face turned steely once more as Maresca, unfortunately, decided to enlighten the group with her 'wisdom'.

"And where else do you expect us to go?" Her voice was hard, not an echoe remaining of the soft tone she had spoken to Ilyana with. "Does that woman not look real? Does her pain not look real? Did the blood not look real?" Her voice remained steady despite the burning sensation in her chest. "We have no choice but to open these doors- see what they want us to see. If you do not look inside of them, fine, stand in the center of the room and jam your eyes shut. I'll open your door myself if I have to." She knew Tae was at her side, but her eyes fell to the 'Gargoyle', Ragnarok- it was a peculiar name. Like a comic book character. The impish delight she might have found in that fact was placated by the grim reality of the situation. He seemed to be the only other person outside of her and Tae with any real empathy regarding the situation.

She had to deal with Catherine...Maresca...

She sighed to herself.

"Who's going to open their door next?" Her voice read none of her hesitation, unflappable, but it sounded a bit hollow- as if her heart was already preparing itself for the next horror.

'God this is going to be a long, long mission...'
