Role-Play Guidelines
Role-Play Terms:
• RP --- Role-Play
• RPM --- Role-Play Maker/Master
• RPH --- Role-Play Helper/Co-Manager
• PvP/MvM --- Member vs. Member or Player vs. Player
• PvE --- Player/Member vs. Environment/RPM.
• OOC --- Out of Character
• IC --- In Character
• BIC --- Back in Character
• PP/GM --- Power-playing, God-modding
• NMC/NPC --- Non-Member/Player Character
Role-Play Rules:
• No God-Modding
God-Modding is taking your character and making them invulnerable and/or overly powerful versus either the role-play's RPM or another member's character. God-Modding also includes an average or less powerful character that is never damaged, always manages to dodge/defend entirely/sense the enemy and never actually have any weaknesses at all or have weaknesses that aren't relevant within the role-play. This is not acceptable on the forum in any role-play unless the role-play maker allows it.
• No Power-Playing
Power-Playing is creating or advancing/leveling your character as a role-player and not a character, advancing them with the utmost proficiency towards a subjective goal with the most advantageous weapons/armor/upgrades/skills/magic/abilities one can manage. This is highly discouraged on GtR, because it is generally believed that a character advances themselves as they would within their personality and advancement decisions are not solely based on character creation proficiencies. Of course, you can do this within a role-play if the RPM allows it.
• No Meta-Gaming
Meta-gaming is using player knowledge to give your character a knowledge or benefit that they would not have otherwise have had because of out-of-character information. If you happen to know of an enemy as a member, this does not mean you should have your character prepared for it, because they don't know. This is not appreciated on GtR unless the RPM allows it.
• Anyone can be an RPM/RPH
If you wish to make your own role-play or if you have been asked by an RPM to help them with theirs, you are more than welcome to assist or run your own. It can be fandom, original, or a mixture of both. All manners of worlds and times are allowed here on GtR and role-play diversity is strongly encouraged. If you wish to run/assist a role-play, however, follow the role-play layout and please read the following: RPM: Rights, Rules, & Regulations
• Inactive role-plays will be archived
All role-plays need to remain active in order to remain on the board and unlocked. If any one role-play, whether it is a private role-play or a public role-play, remains inactive for a month or more, it can and will be archived by a moderator or administrator. You can ask for it to be re-opened later, should you wish to continue it after this happens.
• Role-Play teamwork is required
If two people post in an RP near the same time and their posts have conflict, the two players must both compromise and edit both posts so that they can work together unless one RPer doesn't mind changing their post completely. Demanding for another member to make changes without being willing to change a little yourself may be considered to be rude.
• Sub-Forum role-plays are allowed in only certain circumstances
To have your role-play in its own sub-forum, you may ask a staff member, but there are a few requirements that you must meet. For one thing, you must have at least 10 members registered for it. Another requirement you must meet is that you have to keep your role-play active. If your role-play is inactive, there is no point in having your own sub-forum and it will be archived.
• Always follow the role-play's rules
When you join multiple role-plays, you will notice that they are run by different people with different rules. Please keep in mind the rules that each role-play lists and keep to them while you participate and always be respectful towards the RPM's wishes, especially if they should ask you to edit a post within their own role-play that they are running.
