Effigy's Vassals Roleplay

This is a private roleplay between the following members :

In this world of medieval times where kings, queens and citizen live in harmony, there are creatures called Effigies. Those are creature who can be summoned by a summoner through a chosen vassals. There are many summoners in this world and people came to rely on these powers a lot when they would need. However as peaceful and prosper the world seemed, it wasn't all that peaceful. A powerful Effigy, said to have power much like a god even called a deity is threatening mankind. This Effigy's name is Rokkenjima, however this one made a deal with the humans. Every fifty years, a sacrifice must be made. And so every fifty years, a tribute is chosen as well as a summoner to acompany the tribute. These are seen as the savior of manking and are respected even among king and queens at the highest level. Everytime a tribute is devoured by the Deity, another fifty years of peace is brought to humanity.
On this fine morning however this age of peace is about to expire and so ... a new tribute is about to be chosen.

- Acorn Village -
The village of Acorn is silent, most families in their homes with doors, windows, and curtains all closed and drawn. The village square, small as the village's size, is circular and full--full with council members all carefully seated in a half-circle, facing two sisters that have lived in this village for some time.
The village head, Samiel, looks up from his booklet, a serious expression on his countenance. Generally, no one is invited to a council meeting and all are confined to their homes. This time, however, the council has invited these siblings for mysterious reasons that even they have yet to understand. The sisters probably suspect that it is because one of them is a summoner, as well as the only one that happens to be magically trained locally. In the end, they aren't entirely wrong.
"Thank you for coming." Samiel says in his deep, thick tone. "I have some big news for the both of you. You will be quite pleased, I assure you--and we are honoured to be the ones to tell you."
The other council members begin to mutter--some with sounds of concern and others with disagreement, but there are a couple that manage a fake smile with a nod of their head, as if this is the greatest news that they are about to deliver to some of the youngest residents of their small home.
"You two have been chosen to be the Dea's Tribute and the Tribute Summoner!" Samiel says with a fake, wide grin. "You'll be saving millions and millions of lives, assuring the comfort and continuation of all those around you. You are both going to be heroes and your names forever marked into the tomes of history!"
An awkward silence ensues.

Prologue

Euphemia was standing in her room, facing an old, cracked mirror that needed a cleaning. Her hair looked frayed and messy, so she grabbed a brush and began fixing up her hair. A quick comb and a wash should be enough for her assignment. And the clothes on the bed should work as well, being as expensive as they were. Brushing hair wasn’t new to Euphemia; she effortlessly slid the brush’s teeth through the silver strands. Everything went fine until she reached a knot at the back of her head. Things only grew worse when a knock on the door sounded.
“What d-“ Euphemia questioned before being interrupted by the door flying open. Luckily, Euphemia was already in her white body suit. Still, she flinched, although this has happened many times before, caused by the same offender. Ambrose stood at the door, his boot still in the air. He walked in confidently despite Euphemia’s string of curses in Demonic. “How’s my little Taozi doin’?” He asked in the same language.
“Do we have to go through this again?” The annoyed Euphemia responded with a sigh. “Not really, but if I were a soldier or some assassin, you’d be caught off guard.” Ambrose laughed.
“So now you’re asking me to attack you every time you barge into my room?” Euphemia grinned, knowing she outsmarted her mentor once again. She resumed brushing her hair, paying little attention to Ambrose. “Trying to doll yourself up?” The man asked as he noticed the clothes.
“Of course. Holding the title of Tribute Vassal is something respectable. I should try to look the part.” Ambrose shrugged. “Oh really?” Euphemia laid down the brush, running her fingers through her hair. She swiftly dressed herself in her crimson robes. “Yes,” Euphemia answered bluntly, “I intend to pose as an eccentric individual who knows self-defense and some medicine. I already have my name and story worked out, and I’ll be armed in case things go bad.”
“Alright then,” Ambrose commented. “Did you come here for a good reason or did you come to watch me get dressed?” Euphemia eyed Ambrose through the mirror. “Listen, I don’t know much about being a vassal, but you best not take this one lightly. You think I’m scared of that powerful effigy, but I’m not worried about that. You’re gonna be spending a lot of time with different people, more than you’re used to, so don’t get attached, and don’t let anyone get to you. It’ll only make your job harder, trust me.”
Euphemia solemnly looked at herself in the mirror. Whenever Ambrose spoke in that heavy tone, she couldn’t help but listen intently. Her mentor’s words sunk deep into her conscience. Euphemia couldn’t think of anything to say, so she answered with a sarcastic “Yes sir”. She picked up her bag, full of medicine supplies, and a book on the Dwarven language. She was armed with a couple hidden needles, a quiver of poison-tipped wooden bolts, her crossbow, and two short daggers.
“I’m off.” Euphemia stated before walking through the door. Her casual stroll to the Trial Start turned into a jog as she thought of owning a rare effigy even if for a brief moment.

It isn't long before Christ is up in the trees of the Rigia forest, a flute in his hands after much climbing and wrestling about with a few of the kids from his home town. He is quite calm compared to his usual moods when he is out here in the wild, but it is probably because music and poetry are beautiful to him and at the moment, they seem to sing to his soul.
The sunlight is bright overhead, but he is well hidden within the shade of the branches of the trees and his legs hang over the branch of one of his favorite trees--one that he has named "Morgra." Morgra is the largest and widest tree in all of the Forest. It seems almost alive to him--as if to welcome him to the forest. He always finds Morgra first, sitting on one of its limbs and playing a tune on the flute to her, as if he would help her relax with a lullaby as she drinks from the sun.
The grass and trees are all a fresh, bright green, the sky is blue, the clouds sail by with their puffy white cottony appearance, and the birds sing a note here and there. Christ smiles as he brings the flute to his lips to play once more to the grand, old tree. It is a beautiful day.

"What?!" Delpha exclaimed. "No! I will not allow this!"
"Delpha!" spoke one of them. "Control yourself! You will not--"
"No!" she snapped, interrupting them. "You will not take my sister! How dare you stand there with your fake smiles acting as if this is some honor! I have to lead my sister to her death! Her death...! How is that an honor, you arrogant bastards!"
"Be silent!"
"No! You be silent!" She glared them all down and they quieted appreciatively. She nodded satisfied. "You will rule again, and you will find someone else for this 'honor...'"
"I--it will be as you say."
Unfortunately, that was nothing more than wishful thinking. She wished she could've done that and had them fall in line and that Maria could be spared. But it couldn't be...
Instead, she stood there, quietly stunned, as she processed what they had just told her. Fear, anxiety, dread all mingled together in one dreadful cocktail and she wanted nothing more than to hug her sister and save her.
She forced a smile though her heart wanted to weep and nodded. "This is the highest honor one could hope for," she said formally. "I express my gratitude for this task and endeavor to see it to its completion and prove worthy of that place in history."
"What?!" Delpha exclaimed. "No! I will not allow this!"

Here she was, another day had started and she would have gotten ready to get away from this stupid village and go do some hunting if it wasn't for that.... four eye who was asking her and her sister to present themselves at the council.
''Uhhh ? What the crap does these ugly old men want from me ? I guess they'll probably just want to try and say I do everything wrong once more... wouldn't be new. I hate every single one of them. '' She thought as the four eye was still standing at their door. ''Hmph !'' She just closed it almost on his nose as if she didn't care, but this one still insisted about them going.... and of course her sister apologized and said they would go... Maria seriously thought of all the people she was the one who was the most difficult to deal with and surely the most annoying. After a few curses toward her sister, they finally moved to this council and sit down.
What followed however was ... unbelivable. ''You guys are the most hyprocryte beings I have ever seen, honestly if you want to tell me you want me dead just say so more directly. Tch. '' She also glared at her sister and thought of them all she was the worst one. ''And you should remove that fake smile from your face it's obvious and it is very irritable. '' The lady gets up and start walking away.
The council members looked quite angry of those manners, but mostly the leader said ''Where are you going Maria ? ....You still need to get ready. ''
''Who said I cared about those so called million of human lives ? I'm gonna go hunting, I'll see if I feel like saving the world with my so honorable life later. '' Maria answered with a glare before she continued walking toward home.
Mutters are heard in the council and they then turn toward Delpha hoping she would do something about her sister.

[Captain's Office, Millitary quarters]
'Paperwork, paperwork and paperwork again. '' The man was working on a ton of paperwork with the most annoyed face. All he wanted was to go back to training and get some action, but it looked like it would never arrive. It's then that someone enter the room.
''Sir !'' The knight salute, waiting for his captain to reply.
''Yes ? '' Belmorn says, lifting his head from his papers to look at the man. ''Please tell me I'm out of this crap and I'll love you.'' He thought still waiting on the man to answer.
''Sorry to disturb you in your work sir...'' The knight pause for a short moment.
''... Go on.'' Belmorn ask still listening as he thought ''Of course you're not disturbing me, I'm doing on of the thing I hate the most about this job. Other then meetings all the time. ''
''The king has requested you to go and see him right away sir ! '' The knight said waiting for his captain reply.
''YES !!! I'm out of this papercrap !'' He thought to himself with the largest annoyance ever toward the job on the inside. But of course his face remained completely serious and normal toward the knight before him who was one of his subordinates. ''That is unusual, but thank you for telling me. I will go right away. '' His king was really important and if this one had a special task for him, he would be the man.
''May I request you to go get my second in command to fill up what he can in my absence ? '' Belmorn asked the knight before he would dismiss him.
''Yes sir ! '' The knight answered.
''Good, then you are dismissed, thank you.'' Belmorn added before getting up and leaving the room of his Captain office. He wondered what the king could possibly want.
[Throne Room, Castle]
(ATTN : King, Open)
Belmorn finally make it to the throne room and heard on the way there about a new tribute being announce soon. He had heard about rumors the night before when he went to take a good drink after a hard day of work. Wondering what this new tribute may be like, the thought of maybe trying himself into the trial start and taking on the offer of the old man of the tavern could be tempting. However his work here came first.
Kneeling on one knee like about any knight would do in front of his king he says ''Your majesty, I have arrived before you like you requested. How may I help you your highness ? ''

Fujihana ran nimbly through the forest, clearing the thicket with ease. Leaves crunched lightly under her feet, her pace and breath quickened as she realized she was getting closer. She was looking for Christ, she knew he would be in his usual place by "Morgra." Fujihana thought it was silly that he had named the tree, still, it's broad leaves, wide trunk, and long branches had to make it the largest tree in the forest, maybe even further than that; it truly was remarkable.
Fujihana stopped abruptly, digging her heals into the ground. She could hear the soothing sound of Christ's flute and knew that he was just behind the wall the trees had formed between them. She looked up to see the highest branches of Morgra reached out to the warm sun. It crossed her mind that today was a nice day, but she didn't particularly care, her thoughts were elsewhere. Catching her breath, she listened to the music and relaxed, it was not often that she got to hear him play. But she just had to tell him the news she'd heard at the town. If it was true it'd mean that they could finally become vassals, she thought, eagerly. This was their dream. She only hoped that it was not a lie.
Ducking under the trees, she called, "Christ," flashing a brilliant smile.

Kerry sat hunched over a book, looking closely at the writing as if that would help him understand it. As usual, he was holed up in the corner of his parents' library, away from anyone else who might be there looking through the books. He didn't like to be disturbed when reading, especially when trying to teach himself a new language. This time it was Draconian, and it was giving him particular trouble.
"Uggghh," he groaned as he sat back in his seat and rubbed his eyes.
He nearly jumped out of his chair when a voice came from the other side of a bookcase. "Honey, why don't you go and hang out with Christ?" Kerry's mother said. "You've been here for four hours straight and I think you sound like you need a break."
"But I think I almost have it!" he argued.
His mother stepped around the bookcase and glared at him. It only took a moment of that before he was on his feet. He gave her a mock salute and said, "Aye aye, cap'n." He then left the library and began looking for his friend. Christ could have been most anywhere, but Kerry's first place to check was Rigia Forest.

His mother stepped around the bookcase and glared at him. It only took a moment of that before he was on his feet. He gave her a mock salute and said, "Aye aye, cap'n." He then left the library and began looking for his friend. Christ could have been most anywhere, but Kerry's first place to check was Rigia Forest.

Christ places his flute down for a few seconds, breathing slowly to catch is breath and give his lips a break. Then, he lifts the flute up to his lips one more time, ready to begin another song. However, this is interrupted as a familiar form pops through the bushes at the trees' bases, quick like a spring rabbit.
"Christ!" Fujihana calls with a smile as she appears into his sight, the flute lowering down to the instrument's case that is tied to Christ's waist as he smiles back and waves with his free hand.
"Fuji!" Christ says fondly, closing up the pouch and then dropping down below the large branch he sat on, hanging from it by his hands. He swings his body back and forth from the branch before landing on the ground, landing on his feet and crouched down with his fingers extended and touching the dirt and grass before him.
He stands erect as wind brushes by, finding its way through the trees and washing his hair to the side as he closes his eyes to keep them from getting dry. He still smiles as the wind cools his arms and face, splotches of sun sifting through the trees to touch a fragment of his face.
The trees dance to the wild air about them, rustling along peacefully and causing the sun rays here and there to shiver upon the ground. When the wind slows, Christ opens his eyes and winks at Fuji with a friendly hug before backing away and leaning up against Morgra with a relaxed pose.
"What brings you out here so early?" Christ asks with a chuckle, "You usually aren't awake this soon--or at least, you usually aren't out of town this soon."

Delpha cringed inwardly. Leave it to her sister to put everyone's backs up. However, in this case, she actually agreed with what she was saying. Ask any tribute? Would you be so quick to say that if it was your loved one...?
She stepped forward. "I apologize on her behalf," she said. "Maria is merely...overwhelmed...by this. As I'm sure we all are. Thank you for your graciousness. We'll take our leave."
She shot off after her sister after offering a polite curtsy. Already her mind was going through what would be needed for such a journey. She quickly caught up to Maria and pulled her into a hug. "It will be okay, Maria," she said consolingly, though she didn't believe it. "I'll be there to help you. You won't face this alone..."

As this young lady hit the road she will come across a large group of people that were getting up from what seemed to be a break. They all started to walk in the same direction as her and noticed her. A man who seemed to have a more imposing composure then the others approach her. He seemed old enough, probably in his forty, yet he seemed in top shape. ''I'm sorry if our group is quite large, we are simply going toward the trial start to get a good view over the next tribute and the summoner. '' Giving his imposing appearance, one may have thought that he would have been more direct and less friendly, yet his voice was quite friendly and it showed that everyone in this group were fond of him. ''Are you heading there as well ? If so we could travel all together, we already are after all. ''
The man then shook his head. ''Where are my manners, I'm sorry I didn't seem to have introduced myself before... but my name is Jarod and I'm the leader of this group, we are nomads.''
''Yep we sure are ! We travelled lots ! '' A young teen said looking excited.
''Anyways you feel free to take the road with us miss....How may I call you ? ''

Maria shook her head, almost laughing on the inside. Humanity trying to get rid of her that was so great and also showing the true colors of the people. At least when she was in a forest she could be at peace away from all these people. Maybe humanity should die in her place, at least it was something she thought. She wasn't willing to go through all this trouble when nobody really ever showed her any importance. Those who did were mostly hypocrites that just like to take all the attention on themselves. Still at the same time dying didn't seem so bad of a solution in the end, she could be at peace for eternity, but would she be satisfied from giving humanity such a service ? Ah ! Surely not, they better threat her right while she plays hero.
While her dark thoughts were going around, someone grabbed her hand, turning, she noticed it was her sister that immediately pull her in a hug. Pulling herself out by force Maria said ''Don't give me that crap, you'll just be there to help me die and help humanity survive, including your own little precious life that everyone loves so much. '' With a small laugh she continued ''I can't believe I of all the people have to go there, I wonder if humanity really deserve me going through all that trouble for them. Because I sure don't care at all about their stupid lives if they can't even value my existence. The only reason they will right now is because of that tribute crap but in truth they're just all happy to see me gone ah! '' She walks toward home just feeling like taking her stuff and flee in the forest.

As Taozi began her trip to the Trial Start, she noticed a large group getting up from the side of the road. She paid little mind to it until one stout man approached her. Taozi carefully watched the muscular man come closer, wondering what he wanted. Despite the man's appearance, he seemed to be more on the friendly side. The offer to travel together to the Trial Start was odd, but traveling in a pack is usually better than going alone.
"Sure!" Taozi excalimed as she suddenly took on a more open disposition. She feigned a light smile and opened her eyes with curiosity. "My name is Vespa. So you're nomads, huh? Must be an interesting way to live."

The King smiles, nodding his head and gesturing for Belmorn to rise. "Welcome, Belmorn. I have come to request something of you. A difficult task, to be sure, but one that is most relevant."
''As difficult as the task may be, I would do anything for my king. You just have to say the words your highness.'' Belmorn said, wondering what this task could be. Anything better then meeting and paperwork that's for sure. Not to mention dangerous task are usually quite interesting. To him at least.
"I must send you from your beloved home and Kingdom." The King says, "But it will be one of the most important missions that I have ever requested and I want to send my best. I wish for you to go to the Trial Start as my representative and serve as a bodyguard and vassal to the Tribute and Tribute Summoner to show our Kingdom's support and I want you to go there as my Knight."
Belmorn's eyes brightened at the king's mention. ''It would be my honor to represent our kingdom and become a vassal to serve and protect the tribute and the tribute summoner your majesty. '' Belmorn had not seen this one coming, although he was one of the finest, he would have thought another higher rank would have been asked of such a task. It's then that he clicked that the king mentioned knight, but he was wondering if that meant only him as one of the soldier of the city like the captain he is or... was it more than that ?
"Rise," The King says, as a ceremonial sword was brought before him. He smiles down at Belmorn as he speaks loudly as
the men of the Guard that have worked for Belmorn for many years, appear from their hidden places, smiling and remaining respectfully quiet to surprise him.
He brings the blade down to each of his shoulders. "I, King of Ascalon, Knight thee, Sir Belmorn, to join me at the Round Table and the Knights of the Round."
With this, he places the sword away and Belmorns men clap loudly and one wildly cheers with his arms thrown up.
Belmorn is quite surprised at all of what is going on and couldn't believe it. He let the ceremony ensue and the king bring the blade down on both shoulders. When he place the sword away, Belmorn finally bring himself to speak. But stayed down to show the deep appreciation and thank he had for the king at the moment. ''Thank you you majesty... It is a great honor to have such trust and responsibility placed into my hand. I will not disappoint you my king.''
From the corner of his eyes he recognized several of his men and one was a bit too fanboy he believed, but it had to be expected in such a ceremony he guessed.
"Now, we will celebrate!" The King says with a wide smile. " Then, you can prepare for your journy and take any with you
that would you have at your disposal! I have prepared a feast! Let us move to the dining area!"
Belmorn smiles, which was a rare sight coming from him. He usually was much more serious than this. He gets up slowly and look at his king excitation over those news. ''Thank you very much you majesty, I look forward to the celebrations. '' Only thing that worried him was that he wondered who had taken the places of his men in the city, but it's then that one informed him that another squad had taken over.
''You read into my mind Roger. I was just wondering about this. '' In fact he felt a bit ashamed to think that they wouldn't have thought of that, but he was quite happy and moved forward with the group to the dining hall.

"Interesting." Taozi said. She discreetly looked behind Jarod to inspect the group of other nomads. For a quick moment, she wondered if she should mention that she would try to become a vassal. Taozi looked back to the man in front of her to answer. "Well, I'm actually going to become a tribute vassal. I thought it would be a helpful way to use the skills I've earned. By the way..." She turned to the road that stretched out ahead of them. "Don't you think we should get going?"

Her words hurt, but Delpha swallowed hard and blinked back the tears. She was used to her sister's malice, yet her words cut at her heart like daggers.
"Is that what you think of me after all this time, Maria?" she asked quietly as her sister turned and walked away.
This was the first time being a summoner ever felt like a curse. She stood there for a moment, then wiped a tear away and headed home. She needed to pack and no matter how much it hurt, there was a job to do.
Her words hurt, but Delpha swallowed hard and blinked back the tears. She was used to her sister's malice, yet her words cut at her heart like daggers.
"Is that what you think of me after all this time, Maria?" she asked quietly as her sister turned and walked away.

Christ gasped and his eyes widened in excitement. "That's amazing!" He exclaimed as he grabbed Fujihana's wrists. "We Have to tell Kerry right now!" Christ was already imagining what could be in store for him and his friends, and it was great.
Fujihana squealed, "It is!" She was sure Kerry would be happy to hear the news too, but she wanted to talk to Christ more alone first. "Knowing Kerry he's probably busy-" Christ interrupted, "Too busy to hear this, definitely not! Come on, Fuji. We have to tell him now." He tugged her wrist's gently. "Pleease?"
"Okay," Fujihana smiled. Christ flashed a smile back and bolted forward without warning, pulling her with him. She nearly fell onto him but managed to steady herself. "Christ!" Fujihana yelled slightly annoyed. "What was that for?" She tried to break away from him, but his grip was tight. "We need to get there fast, silly Fuji," he teased. Fujihana laughed, then nodded. "Christ could be so reckless," she thought, having already forgiven him.
Moments later, they made a sharp turn and the end of the forest came into view. The unexpected figure standing there scared Fujihana and Christ both, and of course, it was none other than Kerry. Neither of them knew what to do, there wasn't enough time to stop or move out of their friend's way. Fujihana screamed as they collided, without enough time even realize who it was. She was knocked into Christ's back and he had hit Kerry dead-on.

Maria close the door of her room roughly before trying to take a deep breath. ''Honor uh ? Tch. It's a load of crap.'' Not really knowing what to do about it all she just sit on her bed for some time. She heard her sister coming back in the house and she looked at a large bag she usually used for extended trips in the forest.
''I should pack, don't plan on staying here either way.'' She thought taking this bag and starting to fill it with various things. Clothes, few first aid needs and other things of the sort. She also checked the quantity of arrows she had within her quiver and if her bow was top shape. If anyone was outside they would be hearing sound of stuff being moved around from inside the room.

[Castle/Dining Hall]
A feast was indeed awaiting him and what's more some people he saw often in the city were also there. In fact the bartender from his favorite tavern was there to serve drinks and he thought. ''I guess his offer of free drink holds for me then.'' He thought moving toward a seat along with his majesty and other of the soldiers that had been under his command all these years. Everyone gave a big applause upon his arrival. Other members of the knight of the round were also there for the occasion.
Belmorn was highly honored of all of this, however words were missing to say how happy he was. Not to mention he wasn't the best to show these kinds of feelings usually. It's then that everyone stares at him as if they were waiting on something. ''I am sorry for my manner, but I am simply speechless of the whole situation. I'm glad to see all of you present to these celebrations however and I thank his majesty for his trust in me. I will not let any of you down.'' He said with a serious face, yet much more calm then usual. He had been quite irritated about a few affairs he dealt with lately.
And so everyone gave another applause before the king invited all to eat and Belmorn and the other knights of the round would eat at the same table with the king. As everyone started to eat, he did himself with a lot of class and manners. They all ate until it came to a break before the dessert.
The king smiled to the other knights who then all smiled and looked toward Belmorn after. ''Before we get to the dessert, I believe the knights have something for you.''
One of the knight get up, he was the older of them and he said ''We have a gift for you my friend.''
''A gift ?'' Belmorn said looking rather surprised, like all of this wasn't enough.
Taking out a sword, the knight walk to him and give the sword to him. ''This will be a symbol of you being a knight. Don't ever lose it. It is also your proof that you're one of us. ''
Belmorn gladly took the sword and looked over the details. ''Impressive sword.... I gladly accept this present and will take good care of it.''
The knight nod and smile. ''I'm glad you like it. ''
As the knight sit back down the king nods. ''After dessert I'll have people assist you. ''
''I appreciate it your majesty. '' And so the dessert came to them and they all continued eating.

Maria close the door of her room roughly before trying to take a deep breath. ''Honor uh ? Tch. It's a load of crap.'' Not really knowing what to do about it all she just sit on her bed for some time. She heard her sister coming back in the house and she looked at a large bag she usually used for extended trips in the forest.
''I should pack, don't plan on staying here either way.'' She thought taking this bag and starting to fill it with various things. Clothes, few first aid needs and other things of the sort. She also checked the quantity of arrows she had within her quiver and if her bow was top shape. If anyone was outside they would be hearing sound of stuff being moved around from inside the room.

A feast was indeed awaiting him and what's more some people he saw often in the city were also there. In fact the bartender from his favorite tavern was there to serve drinks and he thought. ''I guess his offer of free drink holds for me then.'' He thought moving toward a seat along with his majesty and other of the soldiers that had been under his command all these years. Everyone gave a big applause upon his arrival. Other members of the knight of the round were also there for the occasion.
Belmorn was highly honored of all of this, however words were missing to say how happy he was. Not to mention he wasn't the best to show these kinds of feelings usually. It's then that everyone stares at him as if they were waiting on something. ''I am sorry for my manner, but I am simply speechless of the whole situation. I'm glad to see all of you present to these celebrations however and I thank his majesty for his trust in me. I will not let any of you down.'' He said with a serious face, yet much more calm then usual. He had been quite irritated about a few affairs he dealt with lately.
And so everyone gave another applause before the king invited all to eat and Belmorn and the other knights of the round would eat at the same table with the king. As everyone started to eat, he did himself with a lot of class and manners. They all ate until it came to a break before the dessert.
The king smiled to the other knights who then all smiled and looked toward Belmorn after. ''Before we get to the dessert, I believe the knights have something for you.''
One of the knight get up, he was the older of them and he said ''We have a gift for you my friend.''
''A gift ?'' Belmorn said looking rather surprised, like all of this wasn't enough.
Taking out a sword, the knight walk to him and give the sword to him. ''This will be a symbol of you being a knight. Don't ever lose it. It is also your proof that you're one of us. ''
Belmorn gladly took the sword and looked over the details. ''Impressive sword.... I gladly accept this present and will take good care of it.''
The knight nod and smile. ''I'm glad you like it. ''
As the knight sit back down the king nods. ''After dessert I'll have people assist you. ''
''I appreciate it your majesty. '' And so the dessert came to them and they all continued eating.

"How thoughtful!" Taozi responded happily, although she was more happy the map would be of use to her on the quest. "Rest assured, it should be very helpful if the Tribute doesn't already have a map. Indeed, there are many things to learn about this land...Mind if I take a quick look at a copy?"
She didn't think the travelers were distrusting, but she asked in one of her friendlier tones. Would be better to learn the map now rather than when she's lost with the Tribute's group.

Kerry had just made it to the edge of the forest when two figures seemingly came from nowhere and were barrelling toward him. He tried to get out of the way but there wasn't enough time, and next thing he knew he was knocked flat on his back. He took a moment to catch his breath, then sat up and looked at who had crashed into him.
He realized that the people who had run into him were none other than Christ and Fujihana. He gave them a nod and said, "Heya. I was hoping to run into you guys, though not quite that literally." He wondered why they were running out of the forest like that, and looked to see if something had been chasing them.

It hadn't taken Delpha long to pack her equipment. She was long since used to doing this with her excursions into the wilderness. So, while she waited for Maria to finish, she put some tea on.
When it finished, she poured two cups of hot tea and brought a cup to her sister's room, knocking on her door, then entering. Her sister wasn't a stranger to packing, herself, as she did her own forays into the wilderness herself. Usually on her own. Other hunters found her...less than agreeable.
"A cup of tea, Maria?" she said kindly.

Christ stood up, unscathed, while Fujihana stood up a little dazed, shook her head before looking up to see who it was. "Kerry," they both exclaimed at once.
"Heya. I was hoping to run into you guys, though not quite that literally."
"The tribute's been chosen!" Fuji yelled, cutting him off. She was wide-eyed with excitement.
"Yes!" Christ echoed, "We're all going to be vassals!" He grabbed both Kerry and Fuji's hands. "We are going to do this! We'll be the best vassals the world has ever seen, or ever will see. We'll make a huge difference and do so much. and, and," he was talking so fast he had to pause, catching his breath, "and it'll be a huge, grand adventure! I've always wanted to become a vassal, we all have, and now it's finally happening. It doesn't even seem real!"
Christ let go of their hands, "Tomorrow morning we'll set out for the Trial Start, bright and early." He winked at Fuji, smiling as he said this. "So, pack your things!"
Fujhana smiled, too. "Yes, we need to get there as soon as possible." She winked back at Christ, she doubted she'd be able to sleep at all tonight, she was so anxious. "I can't believe it either. This is going to be so cool! We should meet here at dawn tomorrow."
Christ nodded, "Dawn it is, I will see you both then. It will take us a while to get there so bring a backpack, torches, bedrolls, flint n steel, extra clothes, a canteen, and some food," he counted off the supplies on his fingers. "Oh, and Kerry! Could you ask your parents to borrow their horses? Please, we will get to the Trial start much faster and will need less supplies."

"Hey, wait!" Kerry tried to get a word in, but Christ was talking so much that he could hardly keep up. He knew it would be pretty much useless anyway, because once his friend had his mind set on something it was hard to change it. He also had Fujihana on his side, which would make it even more difficult to argue.
After Christ asked Kerry to borrow the horses, Kerry put his foot down. "Wait wait wait. Have you actually thought this through at all? This is just another one of your whims!"
If there was one thing Kerry hated, it was acting on impulse without going through all the different angles and possibilities. Plus, becoming a vassal was something other people did, people who were most certainly not like him. Just the thought of it made him feel like he was wilting inside.

Christ crosses his arms, raises an eyebrow, and scowls. He holds this pose for a few moments for dramatic effect and the realizes that Fuji has not joined him with his inner-drama. He clears his throat, looking her way before returning to his original pose.
Fujihana stares at Kerry, surprised. "Why wouldn't he want to be a vassal, and how could he say this was just another one of Christ's whims," she wondered. Christ could be rather whimsical, but this was something bigger than that, it was an opportunity. They could all become great vassals who are respected for their amazing power and strength.
She looked back at Christ when he suddenly cleared his throat. She nearly laughed, almost immediately realizing what he was doing. Christ had given her the same look before when she refused to go on one of his adventures and after it she couldn't refuse. She joined in his dramatics, the same expectant expression playing across her face.
"As usual you are such a wuss," Christ exclaims and then continues with, "Quit being a pretty little pansy boy with all your books and knowledge and brainy stuff and learn cool things in a manly way with adventures." He throws his arms up at the end of this phrase for dramatic effect.
Fujihana chimes in, "Yeah!" She threw her arms up, too.

She look back at her things that were almost entirely packed and release a big sigh. ''Seriously what a mess. Why did they choose me of all the people. One who doesn't give a damn about other humans to do this. Either it's karma or god himself hate me. Wouldn't be surprised.'' Maria thought aloud and then sip some of the tea.

After eating dessert, Belmorn had made better aquaintance with the other knights and also took a better look at the sword that was entrusted to him by them. Loving how light it was and the shape of the blade, he was quite satified with the gift. As the feast was finished, Belmorn thanked everyone for coming on his behalf and announced that he would be getting his things ready. Many did not approve of him going already, but the barman proposed an idea.
''How about you come by the tavern one last time before your travels ! ''
And considering the number of stares there was in his direction, Belmorn had no other choice, but to accept. ''You guys never change. Sure I'll come, but I won't stay too long. I would like to be there as early as possible. '' With this he was off to his room within the castle.

Arriving in his room that was simple, comfortable and clean, he stretched a bit before moving to his small desk that was on the oposite side of the bed, a window being between the two. He of course also had a wardrobe, stands to hold on armor and weapons and so on. He also had a small library of his own with books about various battle strategies. Some were his own, some others were borrowed from the library. Sitting down in front of his desk that was just beside the small library, he takes a sheet of paper that was on it and start writting with a pen*, dipping it in ink.
(*I know there's probably another term for this kind of mid age pen, but I forgot it so there you have it =))

The man smiled at the curiosity of the lady. ''Of course. I'll let you see the original since our cartographer have it opened, they're identical anyways. '' He did a sign to one of the girl behind. ''Rosette, how about you show the map to this lady. She's interested.'' The man added.
''Oh sure ! '' Rosetta came to the front. ''Lemme introduce myself, I'm Rosetta and my speciality is writing out maps ! Nice to meet you and know you're curious about it. '' With pride, the lady with brown hairs and eyes showed it. It was a map of the world with the names of places as well with red pointers. ''Red pointers are the only thing that aren't on the others as this is the places that we personally went to. We copied the notes onto the other however. '' There was several notes on the side where no drawings were as well as a legend with matching symbols on the map. Like medical plants area or good hunting spot. Things that were important for traveler to know. Of course those notes only contained what they had explored. Which was mostly the main continent minus few areas.

Taozi smiled as she was handed the map. "I appreciate it." she said softly. When she opened up the map, she was pleasantly surprised by the maps' quality. Taozi's brows furrowed as she hurriedly scanned every point on the map, and their position relative to the others along with any other landmark that was drawn out. "This is a very good map, I must say..." she complimented. Before she handed the map back, she skimmed through the notes on the side, committing to memory anything she deemed important.
"Your cartography skills are impressive. I think the vassal will find a copy of this very helpful on his journey." She insisted as she handed the map back to Rosetta. Taozi couldn't help but grin, so she put on a satisfied smile. For the rest of the trip, she would internalize what she learned from the map.
