First topic message reminder :

There are two role-playing groups in this role-play! This is the first! When applying for this role-play, you must remember the following rules:

1. You cannot create your own character, yet. I'll be giving base class abilities and skills, first.
2. You have only two choices: A) Gender B) What member you're pairing with.
3. Follow the RP Guildelines.
4. If you join this group, you cannot join the other groups.
5. Character slots are first come, first serve.
6. Cooperation and Teamwork are required.
7. Worship me. Have fun!

Also, some good things to remember are that you will only be an Ayudar or an Arruinar. The Ayudar is a support magi class and the Arruinar is the warrior magi class. You may list your preferred class that you'd like to play, but I cannot guarantee your class to you.

More information about classes and Kurian and other such information will be posted later. =) There are seven slots open for this group! (I'll be partnering with someone, as well, making a group of eight.) If you have any questions, please post them in the discussions thread.

Thank you!

Name: Ryan Oakshield

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Class:Ayudar

Personality: Having gone through a traumatic past and the training of an old grizzly hunter, Ryan’s personality could be best described as rough like sandpaper on the outside, but surprisingly soft and tender like marshmallows on the inside. Of course, being a hunter he also has a predatory side, which shows during combat and even outside of it. He cares a lot for his companions and friends, but strangely he is almost always at odds with his bondmate. He is slow to anger, despite his roughness, but woe to the one who sparks his rage.

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Family/Bloodline: The Oakshield Family of Entrikger was directly descended from the mages that helped pushed back the dominance of the Warrior Kings back in the past. Potential for magic runs deep in his family. Yet for the last three generations, Ryan was the only one who had serious magical potential, which earned him the favour or ire of many relatives. Too bad they’re all dead except for his two sisters.

Bond Strength: Zerr

Soul Level: 650

Combat Skills:
- Weapon Proficiencies: Crossbows, Knives
- High Dexterity, Moderate Strength and Constitution, Low Agility and Evasion

Additional Skills: Knowledge – Botany, Survival, Craft - Medicine

Magi Abilities:

Spoiler:

Character History: Ryan Oakshield could be considered a very blessed boy. At the tender age of five he already showed great potential to be a mage, which for that family was something worth throwing a grand feast for. See, he was the only child that showed any magical potential after three generations. So he was spoiled by his elders as to be expected. This simple fact alone earned him the ire of many relatives, mostly his cousins and siblings (aside from two sisters, an older and a younger one, who loves him as he is). Ryan grew up basking in the love and excessive attention from his family, which under normal circumstances would be bad for the development of the child. Growing up to be a spoiled brat would be terribly bad for Ryan in the long run.

Fortunately or unfortunately, Ryan grew up in abnormal circumstances.

Exactly a day later on his sixth birthday, a squad of Kurian soldiers breached the fort in stealth, seeming to have an agenda of their own if they weren’t simply ravaging the entire village. It quickly became clear once they closed in on the Oakshield estate and did some breaking and entering. That was when all hell broke loose, and it was only after half the living Oakshield family members were killed in their sleep. The remaining family members rallied the village guards and tried to hold back the surprise assault. But the soldiers didn’t make it on time enough, and soon only Ryan and his sisters were the only ones left.

Knowing that none of them would survive if they didn’t escape, the older sister took her two siblings and saddled them on the family’s fastest horses. “Never look back,” was the last thing she said, before slapping the steeds’ to action. Ryan knew enough horseriding not to get himself thrown about like a rag doll. He wasn’t sure about his younger sister, but they said she was better than he was so he wasn’t that worried. The older sister was surely the best horserider in the family, but she got left behind. That worried six-year old Ryan more than the fact that most of his entire family got killed that night. It’s as if that tidbit didn’t hit home just yet. And all night long he rode, and rode until he reached the great town of Yurunthar.

Only there did it hit him hard like a sledgehammer. The cacophony of screams, the splashes of blood on the floors and walls, bits and pieces of rendered flesh – those that used to be his father and mother, fires burning everywhere, more blood, more gore, more pain, more death… It was all too much for Ryan to handle, and as soon as he neared the gate he slipped off the saddle and fell down to the ground, unconscious. At that moment, a certain hunter based in town was just coming home from a day of hunting. He saw the unconscious boy lying in front of town, and initially thought of leaving him alone for the dogs. But then, he was getting old. And he had no kids. And he was looking for someone to pass on all his knowledge and skills to. So he carried the boy up on his shoulders, and the rest is history.

For nine years the old hunter trained Ryan in the ways of the forest. He taught him how to forage for edible plants and herbs, and to distinguish which of them contained poison just in case he needed them. One time he was given a knife, a crossbow and a quiver of bolts, and was thrust in a field full of carnivorous monsters. The only instruction given to him was ‘survive.’ That’s where he learned how to wield both weapons and use them well. Finally he was given extensive knowledge of medicinal ingredients that could be found all around the kingdom, and how to put them together into effective poultices and potions. All throughout the training the old hunter could feel a sense of righteous fury burning within the young boy, aside from his magical talents that showed every now and then. For that little problem, he mentioned one thing before he took Ryan to the Givers to be a magi.

“Get stronger, and maybe you can get back at those who wronged you.”

This was the last piece of advice he got from the old hunter that had been like a father to him all these years, before he was whisked off to the Givers, given the status of Magi and sent to the Crucible for training. He was fifteen at that time, and finally he was given the chance to once again live up to the legacy of the Oakshield family. Seven years later, he was already training with a bondmate, an Arruinar named Adelaide. This is the end of his backstory and the beginning of his journey as an Ayundar and a proud magi of the Oakshield family. Of course, he didn’t forget his two sisters who supposedly escaped with him on that night… One day he would find them again.
