Afterimage - Character Roster!

This role play will focus on art, music, the surreal and unknown. For the mythical beings its fine to blur the lines or make them more figurative. Be creative as possible. To start, humans need to be as realistic and mundane as possible... meaning no sword training or crazy feats unless you have a solid background to back it up!
However, humans can have intangible qualities such as dreams, visions, aura-sense, spirit-sense, and so forth, but these things must be based on how they are reflected in our reality; always questioned and analyzed. Sometimes these abilities are deemed as fake or useless, even by the people who have them. Keep it confusing and more psychological unless the person has delved deep and believes in what they have. Background is key! And for once, the more vague your ability is to start, the better chance it will have good development in-story. Work with me, and I'll work with you.

For the moment, only 1 character to start for everyone. More can be added in as story progresses, but they must be approved.
Exception: Some people can be attuned with mythical beings or creatures. From worship or obession, to calling on them, to actually being able to merge with them, and other ways. So, if this is the case, you can have 2: a human and mythical creature as main characters.
Please note how they are connected. If the mythical being is just related to your main and is only somewhat plot-important then mark it as a NPC.
Rule to the Exception: Your human and mythical being cannot be in direct communication. Nor can the human know for certain that it exists. This is where faith and belief come in. Dreams and vague visions are fine, but even better is that they believe even without such things to go on.
Maybe they are just "weird" and "believe in fairies"? Maybe it just surfaces in art, stories, or other expressions and they only think it figurative or symbolic? Might be even more vague than that; something they can't quite put their finger on, but they know that something odd is affecting them.

EDIT: Meant to add this sooner. I am aiming for a more classical approach to mythical creatures from myth and folklore than the amalgam of popular media today. So try to stick to the older material for inspiration.

Name: Pandora

Sex: Female

Age: 21

Appearance: 5' 9", clear blue eyes that are indigo or even purple in the right light and angle, stark white hair cut short to just an inch above her shoulders, down-turned lips, small nose, sharp angled but soft jaw, and very pale skin. She's very thin, always stands up straight, and has a determined air about her.
She wears stylish clothes, her own style, usually reserved colors and professional looks. Her favorite colors to wear are white, maroon, orchid, or gray. It is rare for her to wear much jewelry and she only wears just enough make-up to accent her clothing.

Personality: Pandora is a contemplative individual so she is usually wrapped up in her own thoughts. She is not particularly outgoing but not shy either. She just tends to talk to people if they talk to her and only communicates much in the right environment. A good word to describe Pandora is structured. She's not impulsive; she likes to have a plan. She does not care much if her friends are disorderly so long as it does not interfere with her order of things. She is kind and sympathetic to others, but she gets wound up at times so she puts forth a lot of effort to unwind now and again. She appreciates artistic expression and she is musically inclined.

Abilities: She experiments with watercolor, plays the violin, cello, and clarinet, and has training in digital design. She is good at puzzles, figuring out tricks, and dismantling mind games. She cuts to the heart, even when dealing with other people. She is wrong sometimes, but she is very intuitive.

Background: Pandora has a small family that is around her: her mother, father, and little sister. She has always been disturbed by her dreams as far back as she can remember. Her experiences in life have been... muted by her constant internal struggle. But this also made her look into art and music as outlets. Her favorite artist is M.C. Escher and her favorite composer is Vivaldi. She loves to go to art museums, plays, and orchestras. Right now she is in college with a Major in Graphic Design and a Minor in Illustration. She currently has a job as a singing waitress at a nice restaurant where she also plays the violin or cello when given the opportunity.

Appearance: He's white and looks older than he really is. 5' 11" 164lbs. Short, clean cut brown hair complemented by soft, gray eyes. His eyes might have a tinge of blue or green to them, but it is hard to tell. He has a thin frame and a curved jaw. He rarely smiles or makes any sort of exaggerated expressions. He carries himself with a natural grace and relative confidence coupled with an introverted social awkwardness when trying to understand people beyond casual conversation.
Personality: Logical, practical, wise, and polite. He is reserved to a T. He's dry and humorless, but patient at least. Structured to the point of being dull and not spontaneous at all. Not particularly creative himself, but appreciates others' creativity.
Abilities: He has a Ph.D in Psychology with a minor in Psychiatry. Celier's comprehension is off the charts. He loves to read research papers and other dry, scientific literature. He enjoys word puzzles like crossword, Jeopardy, and other trivias. He also frequents theaters to see plays or hear orchestras.
Background: Celier was born to an unwed mother. His father was never in the picture. She raised him on her own as best she could and made sure he was able to go through school. Celier was an avid learner and was soon marked a genius. He skipped a few grades, but did not do anything substantial in his achievements other than just learning. He never made friends easily and seemed to keep to himself; lost in books and searching for a goal. He found it in the study of the human mind and went into psychology. He's only been in the business for 2 years and his analytical mind has uncovered many insights which he has even published. However, his patients are not as impressed with him given he has trouble extending any emotional support or empathy in helping them overcome their problems. He adopted a dog and a cat, before he started his psychology practice, to see if he can relate to animals at least, and for three years he has shown some improvement by caring for them. Still, he can't seem to relate to other people.

Name: Gregory Wincel [Wink-le]
Sex: Male
Age: 18
Appearance: Black hair, even complexion, calm brown eyes. 5' 7", thin body. Wears thin lens, square glasses with a silver frame. He smiles a lot and moves with a loose, carefree air about him.
Personality: Usually grinning about something. He is good with others if a little awkward with what he says sometimes. He can get a little closed off when he is wrapped up in art he is working on, but he tries to catch back up with everyone once he's finished a project. The girls at school love him, and he gets embarrassed easily by their antics to get his attention. Even though he has lots of friends he does not try to date at all.
Abilities: Ambidextrous. He can write and draw with just as much dexterity in either hand. Due to this his "scribbles" are usually very intricate Spirographs and symbols. His more committed work is surreal, mirror image artwork. He is discerning and understanding of others. He is surprisingly good with mazes and other geometric and location-based puzzles. He has a knack for architecture and might minor in it.
Background: Gregory lives with a large family. He's a middle kid out of 5 others. His parents, mom and stepdad, are very proud of him since he has developed quite a skill in the arts ever since he was able to hold a pen or pencil. They are not the most understanding toward him sometimes, but they try to encourage his growth. He's won some awards and his accomplished portfolio and unique skills got him into Yale with scholarship after he graduates from high school. He's a bit nervous about it since he'll have to leave to New Haven, Connecticut. The Institute of Chicago is wanting him as well and he might take that just because it will keep him closer to home and it is #3 in the nation.

Race: White tombstones in three rows sing. Last you see: crimson, black barbs and sting. What am I?
Appearance: All teeth and claws and death. Ravenous, I, such the savage, noble beast. Mane glorious as flame for my mantle.
Personality: Flippant, prideful, playful, lethal. Roiling, primal, predatory, and pristine. Beguiling and besetting. A hunger literal, metaphoric; existential. My essence: burning bright and beautiful with equal parts searing and consuming.
Abilities: Death comes in many forms. I am one with countless ways to kill.
Background: Mortals can neither comprehend nor survive even short breadth of my tale. And I claim not patience to recount.

Name: Lexie Scarlet (Lex for short, stage name Lucky Rose, The Jack-of-all-Trades)

She walks in a carefree/laid back way, usually with her hands in her pockets or solving some new puzzle she bought. She can also be scene juggling a soccer ball with her legs while advancing to her destination. However, after one her her ''black out'' She walks in a vulnerable way, as if she had been violated, often wrapping her arms around her self.

Personality Hot headed, laid back, grungy. Sometimes sarcastic.

Abilities: Acrobatics, Circus performances of all kind, cooking, poetry, playing a variety of instruments, speaking multiple languages, Story telling/writing, variety of sports, drawing/sculpting/pottery. Amongst a variety of small cool but not that useful skills.

Background: Lexie had a childhood filled with hardship, not at home, but school, the streets and pretty much anywhere else than in her direct family. She was bullied a lot, teased and picked on. She never wanted to open up about this fact to her parents because she didn't want them to find out the reason behind the bullying. She was called a freak due to her random trances where she would simply black out and only see unknown images flash before her eyes. And she did not want her parents to think the same as her bullies.

To distract herself, She would work hard at whatever she aspired to learn. Her aspirations came in all forms, they were mostly escapes from her problems, but in the end this refined her and defined her. Her personality ended up solidifying, making her a strong grown who does not take any grief from any one. With all her skills, Lexie saw no better use than joining the circus, not to mention that ensured her lots of travelling, another way to get lost in discovery, her ''issue'' still haunting her.

Name: Violet Campinaro

Age: 22
Appearance: Violet has shorter light brown hair and blue eyes.  They are hidden behind glasses.  She wears 'comfort' clothing ranging from t-shirt and jeans to blouses and khakis.  She always has a patchwork quit bag on her that carries her art supplies.
Personality Violet is intoverted, but friendly.  She is the kind to talk with her hands and can be quite animated when it is a subject she likes.
Abilities: Violet is a hobby artist.  She has a webcomic that she does under a pen name.  She moved to town to go to an art college, but is taking time off.
Background: Violet moved to the city to go to college.  She lives with her grandmother and help takes care of her.  She works at the public library.  She is taking some time off school to figure out her life more and to help her grandmother out me.  She has not given up on drawing though and still keeps up with her webcomic.  She prefers to draw by hand.  Another place she can be seen is in the park drawing.

Personality Energetic and talkative, but also often seen as scatterbrained and distracted. She always has something to keep herself occupied. Not as up-beat as most people, but she flashes a smile from time to time.
Abilities: Kieva uses her photographic memory and attention to detail to sketch doodles of her surroundings and various objects. Some sketches are impressively detailed, but due to her condition, others are deformed into abstract images or reduced to scribbles.
Background: Kieva lives a pretty average life thanks to the medication she has been taking for impulsive behavior condition. Ever since she was a child, Kieva had trouble controlling strange and sudden urges that varied from trifling to mildly unsettling. Her parents took her to a psychologist who prescribed medication for her disorder as well as therapy. Kieva soon stopped going to therapy when she discovered she could channel her impulsiveness into her sketches as well as take medication for when she couldn't draw. Now she works with the server management crew of a news company. When she is off work, she either finds a spot to sketch, goes bike riding, or exercises at home.

Name:  Vincent  Ross

Age: : 27

Appearance: 5"11, deep blue eyes and short black hair. He generally wears suits and classy clothes. When he's in sight of someone else, he always tries to look confident and nice, but that facade falls when he's alone or very tired to let place to a lonely and sometimes depressive Vincent.

Personality Impulsive, Vincent is the type of person that always has big ideas and that likes to make them come to life, even at the expense of all of his time. Having little to no time for having any social interaction other then business related makes Vincent depressive, even though he's ashamed to show it in public. Vincent has difficulties keeping up a good appearance at all time and that results in him to have occasional breakdowns where he becomes violent.

Abilities: (Keep powers off the sheets for now. Those come later. For humans keep it to their skills and capabilities, even hobbies.) Vincent's past experiences with his business lead him to know how to quickly react in various situation and to lead others. He also knows how to cook well. Vincent also play piano from times to times.

Background: Vincent was raised by his mother only and had never seen his father since he left "disappeared" at Vincent's birth. His mother, Sophia, was a hard working woman that wanted to make sure that her child would have everything he needed when he would grow up. That lead her to do a lot of extra hours at work, leaving Vincent alone for extended period of times. Of course that made him sad at the beginning, but he learned very quickly how to live by himself, and he was enjoying it. So much that at the age of 18, on a head butt,  he decided to leave his home to go live in an apartment in the city. Vincent always dreamed of owning a business, and that's what he did, putting all the time and efforts that he could in running a small jewelry that expended quite fast to become a large jewelry.

Name: Christian Lee Anderson

Appearance: Wears comfortable clothing when out, but when he is working on his art, he is wearing old clothes usually splattered in paint or clothes that have rips in them. He wears nice clothing when dealing with people who are looking to buy his art, or when he goes out to places that he needs too. He is 6’5, blond hair, grey eyes, about 180 pounds.
Personality Christian is a proud man. He tries to be friendly to most people and tries to see the good in everyone. Though there are some he just doesn’t like. He isn’t the toughest guy around, but isn’t the wussiest guy around either. He can be usually found alone unless he is with those who he trusts and are his friends. He has few though.
Abilities: Christian is a jogger going out at least once a day, sometimes twice. He is a painter and a sculptor. He does this for a profession. He is a good business sales man. He has an affinity for painting wildcats.
Background: Christian is the only child of a single mother. She passed away from cancer just two years ago leaving Christian alone. He knew nothing of his father. When his mother first became sick, he had turned to his art to help him with the pain. He began taking art classes in school, but had to stop from lack of funds. Though it didn’t matter, he was already good and people would commission him to do paintings and things for them. Only now has he become well known for his work after having done a large commission for a local multimillionaire.

Age:27 (Unknown in human years)
Race: Wildcat/human beast. (Think of it as a wildcat that walks on two legs like a furry.)
Appearance: 5’6, 150 pounds, green eyes. Has the head of a wildcat and the body of a wild cat, but he stands on two legs and can talk.
Personality: Orion is a funny beast. He likes to play and make jokes. He is a happy go lucky kind of beast, but can be mean if you get on his bad side. Orion is also very loyal, once he has his mind set it is set. He also had a hate for anything that looks like a scorpion. Anything remotely looking like one he is deathly afraid of.
Abilities: Orion is what they call an intelligent beast. He speaks both beast language and human. He can also use fire magic. He uses a bow and arrow and keeps a knife on him. He is well adverse in using his weapons.  He isn’t fast, but is good at blending in to the area around him.
Background: Orion is the fifteenth son of the fire lord Wintergreen. Of all of the lord’s sons, Orion was his favorite. Orion did not like the attention, and the tension was too much for him between he and his brothers. He decided to leave. Before he left, he promised his father that he would always protect those in need like he had done. With that he left, taking with him what little he needed. Now several of his brothers are out to kill him. With him being the favorite, they think that their father will give him his title. Several of his younger sisters believe in him and help him though so that he is always one step in front of his brothers.

Name: TaRenna Garrison (Nickname:  Renna)
Sex:  Transgender, Neutral Gender Identity
Age: Twenty-six
Appearance: 5'2, 128lbs, Pale Blue Eyes, Blonde Hair
Renna walks with a slight waddle, her shoulders usually curved in and her shoulders hunched away from the world.  Her posture is never welcoming, but should someone speak to her, she will "open" her posture when she interacts with them, even if they are a stranger.

Personality TaRenna speaks oddly and views the world as a giant mystery.  She doesn't fully understand communication as most others due, but this is mostly due to her Autism.  She is extremely autistic and does not understand certain things, such as some humor and sarcasm.  She also has a wild imagination and loves to mix her wild pretending with the real world, even if people think she is strange.  She also knows she is very different from most people, and that she is the one to be considered strange, but she does not care and Renna prefers to tell herself that it is others that are lacking her most marvelous perspective on the world.
Abilities: TaRenna likes to sing, but she rarely does so in front of others.  She has a lovely singing voice and does generally draw or paint, as well, but her drawing and painting is horrible and many do not encourage her to practice it due to her habit of scratching out faces of animals and people that she doodles in her spare time.
Background: Kendra, Renna's sister, takes care of Renna every day after work and at night.  She is always encouraging, kind, and patient with the girl, though the two rarely communicate with words.  Renna is messy and often "in another world" with her imagination, so Kendra has taken to simply cleaning up after her.  Renna goes to study-school during the day while her sister works, a special class for other Autistic children like herself.  It is there she learns to paint, draw, sing, and other artistic skills, though she is quite terrible with most of the art that she brings home.  (Kendra still loves her terrible art, though, and hangs them on the wall to show Renna her support.)

Appearance: Lana is a petite young woman.  Approximately 5’2”.  Slightly wavy, light blonde hair that falls just past her shoulders. She has green eyes. She holds herself upright, but not stiffly. Lana tends to dress stylishly. She is often wearing a sweater with a skirt, tights, and ankle boots.

Personality:Kind, friendly, and a bit of daydreamer.  Lana enjoys fantasizing about what else is out there.  However, her imagination can get the better of her at times, causing her to develop wild ideas about the things around her.

Abilities:Quite skilled in photography, Lana is often found behind the lens of a camera. She also enjoys painting; her paintings tend to embrace the abstract style.  While she no longer plays the violin (stopping after she graduated from high school), she has a strong appreciation for a variety of music styles.  When working on her art projects, she often is listening and singing to her music.

Background: Lana is an only child who grew up with both her parents.  Due to having no siblings, she would create her own imaginary friends when she was younger to play with her, even painting images of them all together.  She continues to express her thoughts and herself through her art, whether it be focusing on the essence of humanity or the abstractness of the world around her. Her parents continue to be supportive her and encourage her to fulfill her dreams. Currently she has moved away from home, and is living in a dorm room at the university she is attending for her art major.
