Miletus Roleplay

Chazz recovered quickly from the fairly light hit and was able to balance himself easily. His reaction was to swiftly drive his elbow into Makari's chest.

The hit to Makari's chest knocked the wind out of him for a moment. He needed a moment to collect himself, so he pushed Chazz to the ground and lightly kicked him for good measure. He'd been aiming for Chazz's side, but ended up kicking his hip instead. After that, he allowed himself to double over momentarily in order to catch his breath and rest his body.

Chazz had a hard time getting to his feet, but Makari's pause gave him the time he needed. He stood up and then tackled Makari, shoving him hard into the wall of a nearby building. He then charged and threw himself against his friend with great force.

Makari winced when he felt himself hit the wall and cried out in pain when Chazz slammed into him. He instinctively shoved Chazz away, managing to do so quite harshly. However, he had to prop himself up against the wall to gain some recovery time so he was unable to follow up.

Chazz managed to recover quickly from the shove and lunged at Makari again. He punched him in the shoulder, though it wasn't the most powerful of hits, and then followed up with a solid punch to the face. His fist partially made contact with Makari's eye. Chazz pulled his arm back to go in for another punch when he felt someone grab his fist.

"Stop that!" A gruff voice yelled. The man was even taller than Chazz and was obviously quite strong. Chazz struggled to land another hit, so the man wrapped an arm around him to pin down the drunken man's arms. "You'll kill him!"

Chazz panted. "Wh... what? Oh..." He calmed down a little. "It's... it's Kar-Kar..." The man loosened his grip a little, but still held onto Chazz's wrist. "Hey... lemme get this..." He forced his way to the bottle he had dropped nearby. Some of the whiskey has spilled out, but some was left. Chazz picked it up and took a drink. "Hey, Kar-Kar... you okay?"

The large man shook his head. "You two really shouldn't be out here like this." It was obvious that they were drunk. "Here, come to the inn. He should really lie down."

"Uh... okay..." Chazz agreed. The man helped Makari and led Chazz to the town inn, where he payed for their room.

"You done beating him up?" the guy asked Chazz as he helped Makari to the bed.

"Yeah, yeah," Chazz said, nodding. "Kar-Kar's my buddy."

The man looked at the two one last time before reluctantly leaving the room.

"Yeah..." Darast said. He was still trying to process everything that was happening. "I can't believe I have an aunt..."

Before anyone could go to their rooms, however, a girl rounded the corner and stopped when she saw them. She had a concerned look on her face, and the dog that was at her feet began to growl.

"I thought I heard voices. Who the hell are you people?" she asked. She crossed her arms and glared at them.

"I'm sorry, we ain't trespassin', honest," Darast said shakily.

Makari was actually beginning to get scared as Chazz continued punching him. He couldn't get away because his back was quite literally against a wall. After the violent hit to his face, he cringed, closing his eyes as he saw Chazz preparing to hit him again. However, the blow didn't come and Makari blearily opened his eyes to see a large man holding Chazz back. Chazz eased off and asked him if he was okay. "Yeah... as long as you stop forever." He gratefully let the guy help him to the inn and into bed.

He was exhausted from fighting and sleepy from drinking so much in such a short period of time. Between his physical and emotional state, the only thing he felt like doing was sleeping. He closed his eyes after the man left and managed to fall asleep.

Elyse snapped to attention when she heard the dog growling, instinctively stepping in front of Raphael. Casimir, on the other hand, took one look at the angry girl and the dog and hurried into his room, pressing his back against the door and holding the doorknob in his shaking hand.

Elyse watched Casimir run off with a puzzled look on her face before turning to the girl. "...well, you see... the lady of this mansion told us we could stay here," she explained, keeping an eye on the dog.

Chazz sat on his bed, staring absentmindedly out the window. "Hey... Kar-Kar..." He looked at Makari, who was being very quiet. "I punched you... a lot. Oh... where's... where's your drink? It'll make you feel.. better," he slurred. Chazz wobbled as he stood up and stumbled to the door. "I'll find it... dun worry." He left the inn and nearby was the area where they had fought. Sure enough, Makari's bottle of whiskey was on the ground. "There it is..." Chazz mumbled as he walked over and picked it up. He examined it briefly before taking a drink, and then another. Before long, the bottle was getting low and Chazz was struggling to stay conscious. He managed to vomit before falling to the ground, unconscious.

Raphael was startled by the girl. "Y-y-yes," he added. "We... we bare you n-n-no... no ill will... shit. Oh... um... I-I'm so... so sorry..." He backed away a little, looking down at the floor.

The girl didn't look any more pleased by the group's explanations. One of the weirdos even ran into one of the rooms, which she liked even less. She looked right at Elyse.

"And why would my mother let people like you stay in our house?" she asked.

"Oh, it's a long story... But it turns out yer mom is my aunt, so I guess that makes us cousins," Darast said. So on top of having an aunt, he now discovered he had a cousin too. It blew his mind, really.

The girl took a step backward and looked at Darast. "You... You cannot be my cousin. You sound too uncivilized!"

With that, she turned and left, the dog following closely behind her. Darast just stood there, stunned.

When Makari woke up, he felt like he'd been trampled. He was in a lot of pain and felt incredibly nauseous. It took him a few moments to recall what had happened. He remembered learning of his sister's death and then punching Chazz when the guy laughingly told him that she'd committed suicide. They'd gotten into a fight and Makari vaguely remembered Chazz beating him senseless. He rolled over onto his side and noticed that Chazz's bed was empty. He sighed, forcing himself to get up.

He trudged outside and soon found Chazz passed out on the ground. He furrowed his brow, gingerly kneeling next to his friend and shaking his shoulder. "Hey... wake up. This is no place to sleep..."

Elyse watched the stuck up girl walk off without giving them a chance to explain further. She shrugged at Darast. "I... think you might have caught her by surprise." To say the least.

Chazz groggily came to when he heard a voice and felt someone shaking him. "Ugh... what..." He opened his eyes, feeling rather nauseous, and immediately squinted at the harsh light. "I'm... outside? Why..." he trailed off when he saw Makari's face and slowly sat up. "Makari... holy shit..." He winced and gently touched his jaw. "What even happened yesterday? What... what happened to you?"

Raphael frowned at the girl's reaction to Darast. "Indeed... I-I-I do not think she was p-p-prepared to hear that," he said, his ears twitching. This family was obviously fairly rich, so he was a bit worried that the girl's opinion of Darast would be long-lasting.

"Well, I gotta say she caught me by surprise too," Darast said.

Darast turned around and noticed that Casimir was gone; he hadn't even seen him leave. One of the four doors was closed now, though, so he had to have gone into that one. Darast headed over to it, then knocked.

"Hey Cas, you okay?"

Makari looked down at Chazz. He was still pretty unhappy with what the guy had said yesterday; that upset him more than the fight. "We got into a fight... and you won." When Chazz asked him why they had been fighting, Makari gave him an uncharacteristically sad look. "Well... I started it. You... were telling me that my sister had killed herself and you kept laughing so I punched you." He couldn't exactly say he was sorry about it.

Elyse nodded in agreement with Darast's statement. The girl had definitely caught them all off guard. "I hope she'll warm up to us, since we're going to be staying here tonight..."

Casimir tensed when he heard the knock but relaxed when he heard Darast's voice. He poked his head out of the door, looking in both directions. After seeing that the girl was gone, he tenatively stepped out. "Y-yeah... um, what did she want...?"

"Your sister... oh... damn..." It took Chazz a moment to recall that Makari had been revealed to be Casimir's uncle the day before. He didn't really remember laughing about the woman's suicide, but he felt terrible for doing it. He looked at Makari's battered face. "I... I'm really sorry. I can't say that I really blame you for punching me..." Some people walked by and Chazz felt awkward, especially when he noticed the dried vomit next to him. "We should really go inside..."

The two returned to the inn and Chazz realized how awful he felt physically. His previous injuries hadn't fully healed and it felt like Makari had gotten a couple of good hits on him. When they were in their room, Chazz sat on the bed and grabbed a bottle of whiskey. "I guess it would be stupid to ask how you're feeling..."

Raphael saw that Darast was taking care of Casimir, so he turned to Elyse. "Yes. I-I-I do not wish to... t-to cause any conflict here." He then looked concerned. "Hopefully the... the... the rogues d-d-did not see us... come here. These people c-c-c-could be attacked..."

Casimir seemed to have been truly spooked by the confrontation with the girl. He had to make sure the coast was clear before he came back out of the room, it appeared.

"She was just wonderin' why we were here," Darast explained. "Turns out she's my cousin, I guess. Kinda threw us both for a loop."

He rubbed his head; with all that had been going on he hadn't payed much attention to the headache, but it was there, clawing away.

"I think I'm gonna go lie down for a bit, if ya don't mind." With that, he went into one of the rooms and flopped on the bed.

"Thanks..." Makari said when Chazz apologized. He couldn't very well say it was okay, but he was more than ready to forget about the previous night. He nodded when Chazz said they should go inside, following his friend. He had a bit of a stagger to his step. His entire midsection was in serious pain.

He layed down on the other bed as soon as they entered his room, smiling wryly at Chazz's comment. "I feel like I need a drink too," he said, eyeing Chazz's whiskey. He remembered the bottles in his own bag and took one of them out. He took a sip, then stared down at the bottle. "What else did Cas' diary say?" he asked suddenly.

Casimir listened to Darast's explanation. "I see..." he said. "She seemed really... aggressive so I thought maybe..." he trailed off, realizing that none of the others had been particularly afraid. Luckily, Darast decided to retire to his room then. Casimir did the same, curling under his blankets.

"I hadn't thought of that," Elyse replied to Raphael. "It didn't seem like there were any around, so we'll have to hope that's the case." She'd hate to see uninvolved parties get dragged into this whole mess.

Chazz could see that Makari was in quite a bit of pain, and he wondered just how violent he had gotten. He didn't protest when Makari took one of his bottles and instead took a drink from his own.

"Well..." Chazz wasn't sure if Makari would want to hear the answer to his question. "I don't even know where to start. His mother... she was very overprotective of him," he said. Talking to Makari about that woman made him feel awkward after what he had supposedly done the day before, but he continued. "She never let him out of her sight and he came to fear anywhere outside of his house because of what she told him. He wrote about horror stories... cultists who wanted to sacrifice him, the kidnappers, rapists, and murderers who would be waiting for him around every corner, killers who would crawl in open windows... slave traders..." He looked down. "I don't think he can trust a single person that passes by him on the street..."

The last thing Chazz wanted to think about was that brat, but he found himself feeling bad for him again. Despite still feeling nauseous, he downed more whiskey.

Raphael nodded. "I-I-I think we should try to... to... to... make sure our st-st-stay is short." He watched as Darast went into another room to rest. "I believe I-I-I may go soon as well."

Makari sipped the whiskey and nodded when Chazz said Casimir's mother had been overprotective; he could see that. However, what followed was not what he had been expecting at all. By the time Chazz was finished talking, Makari looked slightly horrified. "Is that... actually what he wrote?" he asked in disbelief. "That's insane... that doesn't sound like her--" He took a long drink from the bottle, remembering how she'd died. Something had obviously gone very, very wrong. "I don't understand how... it could have ended up the way it did... that's really what the diary said, huh? Damn..." He shook his head sadly, taking another drink. It was a lot to wrap his head around. "I guess that explains why he was so weird around me back there..."

Elyse nodded. "Yeah, we should definitely try to rest. We still have a lot of ground to cover." She smiled at Raphael. "Rest well," she said before disappearing into her room.

Chazz nodded. It seemed that Makari had been fairly close with his sister, so hearing all that was probably difficult. "That's what it said..." He really didn't know what else to say, so he went back to working on his bottle of whiskey. After a surprisingly short amount of time, Chazz's bottle was nearly empty and it didn't take long for him to start feeling the effects. "All right!" He stood up so quickly that he nearly lost his balance. "I say... I say iss time to ditch this place! Right, Kar-Kar?"

Raphael nodded in agreement with Elyse's statement and then returned her smile. "You too, Miss Elyse," he said before heading off to his own room.

Once Chazz confirmed that was actually what the diary had said, Makari didn't really feel like saying much. He drank in silence, hoping to block the whole thing from his mind. The effects soon started to kick in and he was feeling significantly better by the time Chazz said they should go. "Right... this place is horrible, we'll have a better day somewhere else~" He stood and the two made their way out of the inn.

"Ooh, you know what she would... we should do? Go via the forest 'cause rogues can't see through trees. I know 'cause I was one of those!" With that, he started leading Chazz toward the forest.

When Darast finally came to, he was surprised by how bright it was in the room. There was a dull ache in his head and the light wasn't helping at all. He sat up slowly and felt a little dizzy, but it passed quickly.

He stood up and realized he had even slept in his armour. He figured he didn't need it here, so he took it off and set it on the bed. He found there was a bathroom attached to the room, so he went in and made use of the provided facilities. It had been quite a while since they'd had time to stop and really get clean.

After he was done he found some clean clothes had been provided, so he put those on and went out into the hall. He was almost immediately met by the dog that the girl from yesterday had had with her. It seemed less on edge than it had yesterday, and even came over to smell his hand when he held it out.

"That's a good dog," he said. "Is yer owner nearby?"

Right on cue there came a voice. "Yes," the girl said as she came into view.

"Listen, uh, 'bout yesterday..."

"It is all right. I was just surprised. My mother explained it to me last night."

"Okay, then... Well, my name's Darast. It's really good to meet ya; I never even knew I had any livin' family."

"I am Nadina. I hope you enjoy your stay here."

Nadina had said that last sentence rather stiffly, and Darast suspected her mother had told her to be welcoming. He smiled at her in response.

Chazz stumbled along with Makari, nodding vigorously at his friend's suggestion. "That is such a good idea! Trees... they're so hard to look through. I can't see through them... oh... I'm notta rogue anymore... well they're still hard to look through anyways. I like trees."

The two entered the forest. Chazz was having difficulties walking with all the roots sticking out of the ground, but he managed to stay on his feet. After traveling for a short time, Chazz found that he had stepped right into some sludgy water. "Eww... hey, Kar-Kar, there's this yucky stuff..." He tried to warn his friend, but he was too late.

Raphael had been awake for a while when he heard the voices out in the hallway. One was unmistakeably Darast and the other seemed to be the girl from yesterday. Raphael recalled swearing at her and decided against going and greeting her; he didn't want to get nervous and offend her.

"Yeah, trees are grand. I like some kinds of trees--"

Makari heard Chazz's warning, but his feet had become entangled with a root on the ground and he ended up falling face first into the bog. "Help I'm drowning!" he exclaimed before realizing it was shallow enough that he could easily lift his head. "Oh wait... I totally survived." He sat up, wiping mud from his face. "Uhh... that was weird... I'm all slimy now..." He grabbed Chazz's arm for support as he pulled himself to his feet. "Less try walking around this thingy okay?"

Casimir had spent the night trapped in terrible nightmares. When he woke up, he found himself upside down in bed with the blankets tangled around him. He sighed, rolling out of bed and removing the blankets from himself. He went and cleaned himself up in the washroom before opening the door to leave his room. He poked his head out and saw that weird girl and her dog standing there with Dara and abruptly closed the door again.

Elyse emerged from her room after cleaning up and getting dressed and cautiously allowed the dog to sniff her. It seemed like it was in a better mood today. "Good morning, you two," she greeted Darast and the girl before lightly knocking on Raphael's door, wondering if he had finished trancing yet.

"Mornin'," Darast replied to Elyse. He then asked Nadina, "So, what's yer dog's name?"

"Yuki. And he is not a dog, he is a young wolf," she replied, as if it were normal to have wolves as pets. Darast was a bit concerned at first, but Yuki didn't seem dangerous, so obviously she'd had him as a pet for a while.

Nadina then said, "We will be having lunch soon. Some servants will come get you when it is ready."

At that, she turned and left, the wolf following close behind. Darast frowned.

"Ray o' sunshine, ain't she?"

"Oh... you okay?" Chazz slurred, wobbling when Makari used him for support. "Hehe, you smell funny. I think... I think we can go this way." He gestured vaguely and started leading Makari to the left. "Hey... you know... I was wondering... you know... your hair is long. It's like you haven't even cut it all since... forever. How come?"

Raphael stood up when he heard a knock and walked over to the door. "Oh, g-g-good morning, Miss Elyse." He smiled at her after opening it. "Did... did you sleep well?"
