  • [Attn: Open] During the events of Battle Land 2, Kronn, an alien warlord with the influence of a god, managed to take control of various heroes around the world, causing tension between heroes and the public. Few were left unaffected by this and that included the New Exemplar. When Kronn gave the command to frame The New Exemplar against the Evolute Villains, Snow's older brother Creed, the battle took a turn for the worse. Creed had the heroes at his mercy and in a desperate effort to survive, Oblivion struck him with a Null-Blast, instantly erasing him from existence, in affect, killing him. However, now a mentally scarred Oblivion turned to Snow in hopes of never again killing any individual directly with her abilities. The tampering with her mind led to the awakening of the evil entity that lay at rest deep within Oblivion's subconscious which called itself Kaos. However, Snow was able to quell the vile entity before it could fully awaken, in effect, erasing a number of Oblivion's powers.

Present day, the New Exemplar reside in the re-purposed TITAN Base in Manhattan when they receive a transmission from Ms. Holiday, acting Commander of A.M.M.O who requests their presence to observe a peculiar case. So they make their way in an A.M.M.O jet to the nearest A.M.M.O base, the mobile Aircraft Carrier in the river. "We'll be there shortly," Solace says.

Coír sat in his chair, restless and body jittering like a caffeine addict who overdosed, though he was unaware of it. But he couldn't get past how unbearably cool it was to be soaring through the skies in a high-tech jet. Of course, it technically wasn't as cool as being able to fly on your own--which he could. But still, cool all the same.

He looked around at his teammates. Teammates; what a concept. A month back he'd have never thought he'd be doing all of this. It was awesome!!

Hotshot sits back, reclining his seat with his hands behind his head. "Hey, kid, relax, you'll get used to it."

"We're coming up on the Carrier," Batonage says.

"I'm relaxed!" he said cheerfully, his jittery body saying otherwise. "But it's so freaking awesome to be out here! Oh, I'd kill to be able to tell my friends about all of this! I mean, secret jets, secret bases, the pretty girls--oops!" He went red in the face and looked nervously over to see if the "pretty girls" had heard him. "I mean, not that they're just looks, mind, or that all I think about are girls--cause I don't--but y'know. Well, but yeah! It's all so cool!"

In his seat, Animatrix was still sulking over the loss of his intelligence. "What are we gonna do at the river? I mean, our team is hated by the public, so why are we going to the people who arrest supers?"

(Dar, AMMO does not arrest SUPERHEROES THEY ONLY ARREST VILLAINS. The New Exemplar is actually among the most celebrated teams of superheroes in the world and Holiday renounced any claims against the heroes from Battle Land 2 *she told everyone basically what was happening. They kind of have to take her word for it.* At most it's just some tension between some faith lacking public and superheroes)

[Attn: Open]

Soon enough the jet lands and the team steps down before Holiday who stands there with her hands in her pockets. "Glad you could make it. Come with me." She says, leading them into a lower level. In one room they stop to find a weak looking man, suspended in restraints. "This used to be one of the most dangerous men alive. Codename: Cancer. Used to sport a techno-organic symbiotic material that was irremovable."

Batonage looks to the man then to Holiday. "If it couldn't be removed...then who got it off? Better question. Who has it?"

"That, we were hoping you could investigate."

"If he doesn't get the suit back, then he will be," Batonage says.

"She's right. That suit amplifies whoever is in it but once it's removed, it takes that all away and then some," Holiday explains. "But he obviously didn't just separate from his suit. He was torn out of it. It's the only reason for him to be this messed up. That's not the most curious piece of this, though. The strangest part is that his memories were entirely cleared from his mind. Just wiped like nothing ever happened. Doesn't remember Cancer, doesn't remember us, doesn't even remember his own name."

"Yeah, I don't think anyone, even Cancer, deserves that painful or just plain awful a death," Hotshot says, his arms crossed.

"So what would you have us do about this one, Holiday?"

Holiday holds her head down a bit with her eyes closed as if in deep concentration. "I don't know just yet. Just ask around. Do some investigation. Some hero is bound to know what happened."

(Alright, MG. I'm sorry.)

[Attn: Holiday; Open]

Looking around, Animatrix saw a security camera on the ceiling. Then, he got an idea and looked at Holiday. "Do you have any of those that I can borrow? I might be able to find something if I have a few 'extra eyes' around the city."

(I hope this is okay, MG.)

Coír looked at the man with pity. What would it be like to have a piece of yourself ripped off? He shuddered, not wanting to go too far down that rabbit hole.

"So, are you wanting us all to go and seek out answers," he asked. "Or did you have other intended tasks for us?"

"We have a few spares back at the base, kid, you can use those," Hotshot says.

[Attn: Open]
"Well this isn't what I actually called you here for. I called you here because of security. We're transporting Photo-Man here from a convoy across town. Don't want any of his villain buddies trying to spring him loose. In short, watch the convoy just in case," Holiday says.

With a confused expression, Animatrix looked at Holiday. "I have two questions. First, who is Photo-Man? Also, why can't I see any cameras if they're here at your base?"

"In the inverse order," Holiday begins, "These cameras cost thousands of dollars a pop. As for Photo-Man, he's-"

[Attn: Open]
"May I?" Solace interrupts. Holiday nods and begins to check status updates from her wrist computer. Solace then continues. "Photo-Man was a street level criminal who worked under the mysterious PRIMUS Underground Crime Syndicate. Up to this day, the only way people know PRIMUS even exists is through his many pawns such as Kobrion and Destro. No one has seen the man himself. Anyway, Photo-Man was just Max Fine back then. But he had a run-in with the light hero known as Justice. Justice tried to stop him with his light based abilities but Max had stolen an energy absorber. It took in all of the energy Justice used. Justice wasn't aware of this until it was too late. The device overloaded and exploded, giving birth to Photo-Man. He has a number of similar powers to Justice but to add to it, his entire body is made up of a form of raw light energy now. It lets him physically manipulate himself to form weapons with his body."

"We brought him in not long ago. The convoy will be passing throug Hell's Kitchen in about ten minutes. I want you all to meet it there," Holiday says.

Batonage nods and starts to walk towards the jet. "Then let's get going."

"Those of us that can fly should probably do so. The rest of us should get into the jet," Solace says.

As Animatrix got into the jet, he looked at his superior with doubt. "Are you sure I can do this whole 'Super-Heroing' thing? I mean, I don't even fully know what I'm capable of yet. Plus, I'm only a teenager. Wouldn't it be easy for a supervillan to take a child hostage? I just don't know..."

Batonage looks to Hotshot then back to Animatrix. She nods towards Solace to have him look to her. "See how calm, cool, and collected Solace is? That's our leader. Believe it or not, she started when she was twelve years old...with the Second Exemplar. They set a new standard back then...and standard she's trying to raise. You'll do fine." She then sits down at the pilot seat. "Everyone on board?"

Animatrix smiled a bit at the comforting statement and nodded to show he was ready to go. "Do you think that Solace could train me? I'd feel better if I had someone like her to be my mentor. Maybe she could even help me find out if there's a way to recover the knowledge I had before these powers appeared."

Pest climbs into the jet and sits down. Batonage and Hotshot both somewhat laugh to themselves as they take off after Solace, Oblivion, and Coir in the jet, headed for Hell's Kitchen. The jet comes to a stop and hovers over the convoy once they've reached it with the fliers all landing beside it. Once Solace confirms her team's presence with the A.M.M.O Soldier, the convoy sets a move on.

"That's okay," Batonage says. "You can stay up here in the jet with Hotshot and me where it's safer. A.M.M.O isn't a big fan of letting minors be superheroes."

"Since that one hero kid died in Battle Land a couple months back, they've really been up tight about it," Hotshot says, polishing his guns.
