First topic message reminder :

Chazz recovered quickly from the fairly light hit and was able to balance himself easily. His reaction was to swiftly drive his elbow into Makari's chest.

Darast noticed what Valtteri was doing and shot a glare at him. "Is that really necessary?" he asked. "What were ya plannin' to do if ya could get the rope off?"

Airon rubbed his nose and said, "Nah, it's fine! Though that's quite the aim you have, hitting me square in the nose like that." He smiled in hopes that it would make Raphael less worried.

Hearing what Chazz had to say saddened Makari. His friend was blaming himself for what had happened to Casimir. "Chazzy... it's okay. You've gotta calm down a bit. We can't change bringing him to the base and even if we could, it wouldn't really make things better for him. We wouldn't have done so good without his magic and then the rogues would get him anyway, right? What happened happened and he's still alive. The clerics are gonna save him." Makari had to believe that; he couldn't accept the alternative.

Valtteri heaved an irritable sigh when Darast addressed him. "Who said anything about getting the rope off? Is it a crime for me to move my arms?"

Elyse was relieved that the situation with Raphael went so smoothly. She heard Tarian addressing her and couldn't help but wonder if he was really related to her missing fiance. She looked at his face and thought she might have seen some similarities. It took her a moment to remember that he was speaking to her. "Oh... right. Yeah, I think I'm pretty much done."

Chazz sighed. He supposed he couldn't deny that without Casimir, defeating the rogues would have been much more difficult and if they hadn't done it, the group would continue to hunt the kid down. "Well, no, we can't change what happened... but... I wish I could..." Chazz looked down at the blood he had gotten on himself. He couldn't get the cleric's words out of his head. "We can't know that he'll make it... even the clerics said that we... we could be too late... Makari, what if we're too late? What if..."

"I am g-glad you're okay." Raphael gave Airon a small smile. "I... s-s-suppose I have had a... h-had a lot of practice."

Tarian raised an eyebrow as Elyse stared at him, wondering if she planned on answering his question. When she did, he nodded. "Good. Then let us be on our way."

Once everyone was ready, the group continued their travels until they reached elven territory. Tarian was pleased to finally be back among his people and doubted that he would need to travel with these humans any longer. However, he knew that they would continue to travel deeper into elven territory and Airon would probably refuse to leave them. In that case, a simple solution remained. Tarian would eliminate them when the best opportunity presented itself.

The sun was starting to set, so they decided to stay the night in the first town they saw. It seemed like a simple enough plan, but things were anything but simple when they reached it. Although it was supposed to be a purely elven settlement, the streets were overrun by humans. They were wielding weapons and could be seen surrounding helpless elves, or fighting with armed ones. Bodies were lying in the street.

Tarian's eyes were wide with fury. "Those bastards..." he hissed, his whole body becoming tense. He wanted to slaughter each and every one of those barbarians. "Airon... stay back." Tarian reached for his bow, his eyes fixed on the scum that would be his targets.

Raphael was horrified by what he saw. He could see many wounded people, mainly elves, and he knew he had to help them. However, the vicious humans would surely target him. Raphael found himself frozen on the spot in fear.

"C'mon, anyone with eyes could see what ya were tryin' to do," Darast said, unimpressed. However, before the discussion could go any further, the group started to move out once again. Darast made sure Valtteri didn't try that little stunt again.

It wasn't long before the group finally hit elven territory. It had been a long journey to get there, and Darast wondered what it would be like there. He could see how uncomfortable Nadina was and how she tried to stick around himself and Elyse; he hoped that this wouldn't put too much of a strain on her.

Airon wasn't sure how he felt about being back in elven territory. After the massacre, he had little faith in his people and he knew his new human friends were probably going to be treated badly. Tarian wouldn't stick up for them, so it would be up to him to make sure they stayed safe. He wondered how things had gotten so bad.

The day was wearing on and the group decided to stop at the next town. When they got there, though, no one could believe what they saw. Humans were everywhere, fighting with elves, killing them. Airon remembered the sight of the elves killing the humans and shuddered. He went over to Valtteri and hid behind him.

Darast, on the other hand, took one look at what was happening and ran into the fray. "Stop! Stop this!" he yelled. A human was running past him with a sword and he reached out and grabbed the man's shoulder. "Don't ya see? This ain't any better than what the elves did!"

"Whose side are you on, anyway?" the man asked. He gave Darast a shove and went back into the fight.

Darast just stood there, dumbfounded. Just then, he heard someone calling for help. He turned toward the cries and saw an elf was cornered next to a building by four humans. He was holding a short sword, but there was no way he could take on all four of them. "Hold on! I'm comin'!" Darast called back as he hurried over there. In his haste, however, he didn't notice a raised stone and he smacked his foot right into it. He fell forward with a thud and an exclaimed "oof!", then struggled for breath as the wind had been knocked out of him.

Nadina stood outside the chaos and watched. She couldn't say she had any sympathy; the elves had brought this on themselves. An eye for an eye, so they said.

Makari shook his head stubbornly. "We weren't too late. I felt his pulse earlier; it was pretty strong. He's gonna be just fine. You'll see."

The older cleric returned to the room then. "You may see him now," he said to Chazz, recalling how upset the man had been about Casimir's condition. The cleric's expression was grave as he spoke, though.

He led Chazz and Makari to a small room where Casimir was laid out on a mattress. His face was still very pale and his breathing was soft.

"See, Chazzy? Look at him... he's still kicking," Makari assured his friend.

Elyse was horrified by the sight in the town. She couldn't believe that the humans were already retaliating like this. This was the worst possible situation. "Stop! That's enough!!" she called, but she was ignored. She knew there was no point in trying to talk sense into people this frenzied.

Valtteri was completely caught off guard by the fighting. Having his hands bound made him feel helpless and vulnerable. Fortunately, Tarian undid the ropes for him. Valtteri knew it wasn't a gesture of good will; Tarian clearly had a purpose in mind for him. Still, Valtteri would take his freedom however he could get it.

Chazz looked at Makari and although his friend's words were encouraging, he just couldn't be so optimistic. He had seen all the blood the kid had lost, and it looked pretty fatal. "But... Makari..."

The cleric then arrived and took the two in to see Casimir, who didn't look any better than before. If anything, seeing him now was even worse for Chazz, because things had settled down enough for him to realize just how bad the kid was. Chazz just stood there, staring. "Barely..." he responded after a moment. "He can barely even... breathe... it could... it could just stop so easily." He slowly approached the mattress and looked down at Casimir. "I... wanted better for you..."

THE GRIPPING CONCLUSION:

Nadina had stayed at a safe distance from the fray, with Yuki at the ready if anyone decided to go after her. A few humans had passed by her, but she made a point of tucking her hair behind her ears so they could see that she wasn't an elf.

It disheartened her to see Darast and Elyse fighting against humans to help an elf, it just seemed so wrong to her after what they had seen. It did make her feel a bit better to see that they were being careful just to knock them out and not kill them. The same couldn't be said of the elves, though. She turned away when Valtteri took the swing at Morris and refused to look back.

Makari knew that no matter how much he tried to assure Chazz that Casimir was going to be fine, he couldn't change what was there in front of their eyes. As Makari got closer, he realized just how bad his nephew looked. Still, he couldn't let himself believe for a second that Casimir wasn't going to survive. "It won't stop," he said to Chazz, shakily kneeling next to his nephew. His body was extremely fatigued and getting off of his feet was a relief. He ran a hand through Casimir's hair. "You're gonna wake up soon, aren't you?" He couldn't accept anything else.

He heard what Chazz said to the boy. It really meant a lot to him to see how much his best friend cared about his nephew.

Elyse's shoulder was still bleeding and in a lot of pain, but she knew Raphael would be able to heal it. She was just relieved to see that they'd dealt with the situation without any casualties. Just as she was thinking that, her eyes settled on Morris' head. She let out a gasp, her eyes growing wide. "Darast... look--" She didn't know what else to do but direct the paladin's attention to the situation. The sight was shocking and revolting and she couldn't imagine how terrified the victim had been in his final moments.

Valtteri put his scythe away, satisfied with their victory. Tarian had finally gotten his act together. He glanced at the elf out of the corner of his eye before making his way back to Airon. The wound in his side was still bleeding, but he tried to ignore it.

Chazz could hear how optimistic Makari still insisted on being, and sighed. He didn't even want to think about how horrible this was for his friend. The man's last living family member lay before him, dying. The scene was too heartbreaking; Chazz had to look away.

Chazz and Makari stayed with Casimir most of the day, with a couple of clerics checking in occasionally and doing whatever they could to help. When nighttime came, there had still been no change in the boy's condition. Chazz's spirits were as low as could be as he sat next to Casimir, watching his shallow breathing. He glanced at Makari. The battle had left his friend completely exhausted, and it was obvious that he needed rest badly by this point. "Makari... you should get some sleep. It's been a long day, and with your condition..." Chazz sighed and looked back at Casimir. "I'll watch him..."

The battle had been won and it was time for Raphael to deal with the wounded, but he caught sight of the severed head again and had to fight back nausea. Out of the three that had been fighting this group of humans, it seemed that Valtteri was most likely the one to do this. Raphael looked at the man. There was no remorse in his expression at all, and it was as if he had just completed task just like any other. Raphael was too shaken up to even notice Valtteri's wound.

Tarian didn't particularly like the look Valtteri was giving him, so he shot him a glare in return. As he put his bow away, he saw that everyone was quite distracted by decapitated human, so Tarian walked over to them. "Valtteri did this without even a second thought. There is no way we can trust him if he is capable of something like this."

Darast watched Raphael knock the last man out, then sheathed his sword, satisfied with how things had turned out. He was about to go talk to the elf they had saved when Elyse called for him to look at something. He turned and looked where she was looking, then saw it.

During his time with the mercenaries he had seen a few decapitations, but it never made it any easier. He felt sick and looked away, then grabbed his pendant and said a silent prayer to Bahamut. He then looked around for the culprit and ended up looking at Valtteri. The guy did have a scythe, which would definitely do it, and he had shown he could kill mercilessly. Tarian then approached and explained that it was indeed Valtteri who had done it.

"Yer right about that. He's gotta be tied up good 'n' tight," Darast agreed.

Airon watched Valtteri come over to him and managed to get up off the ground, though he was feeling a bit shaky. He made sure not to look at the head again and instead noticed that his friend was bleeding. Nobody was making a move to help him, they were all too fixated on the head and tying Valtteri up. He ripped off a bit of the end of his coat and held it to Valtteri's wound.

"Guys, he kinda needs some help here before you go tying him up," Airon said, trying to get their attention.

The elf stood awkwardly behind the rest of the group. He was glad the battle was over and he wanted to thank them for helping him, but they seemed to be preoccupied with their own matter. It would be rude to just walk off, though, so he got closer to them and said, "Uh, I much appreciate the saving. Thank you." He desperately tried not to look at the head.

Nadina marched over and joined the group as well, not looking at the head. She was glaring at all the elves. "None of this would have been necessary if you elves could have left us humans alone!"

Miletus Roleplay - Page 30 Empty Re: Miletus Roleplay

Post by sagiri 23rd August 2013, 1:16 am

It was discouraging that Casimir's condition wasn't improving, but Makari couldn't give up on the boy. He spent most of the day next to his nephew, occasionally murmuring encouragement to him or touching his hand in hopes that it would get through to the kid. He also did what he could to keep Chazz's spirits up but he knew that this was rough for his friend.

By nightfall, Makari was completely drained. Chazz suggested that he go to bed. The last thing Makari wanted to do was leave the two of them; Casimir could wake up at any moment and he dreaded to think where Chazz's mind would go without Makari there to offer any kind of distraction. He started to protest, but he could barely keep his eyes open. "Well..." he sighed, obviously frustrated with his own body. "Okay, but you have to wake me up if something changes. Night, Chazzy..." With that, Makari reluctantly left the two.

On the mattress, Casimir looked fragile and bloodless. His face almost matched the white mattress and his chest was rising so weakly it was hard to tell if he was even breathing at all.

Valtteri shot a glare at Tarian when the elf informed everyone of what he'd done. He could only imagine how gleeful Tarian was to say that. It was obnoxious coming from him; Valtteri knew that he would have happily killed as many humans as possible if he'd actually been able to hit something. He shifted his gaze to Darast. "Did you even see what that guy was doing?" The humans had been killing elves left and right. "He probably would have beheaded me if he'd had the chance." He knew it was no use arguing his case, though; Darast would have only been happy if Valtteri had held hands with Morris and sang songs of peace and love with him.

He felt something touching his wounded side and winced. Airon was holding some cloth to the injury, clearly trying to slow the bleeding. Valtteri looked at him with gratitude and murmured his thanks. He rolled his eyes at what Nadina said, but didn't bother to engage her. He was just glad that Airon was still on his side.

Elyse wasn't surprised that Valtteri was behind the beheading, but she was disappointed and disgusted. Everyone was quite distracted, but she heard the elf thank them. She turned to face him. "It was no problem... were you hurt at all?" Her own shoulder was still bleeding, but it wasn't severe. She knew that Raphael needed a moment to recover from seeing that severed head.

Chazz was glad that Makari gave in. "All right... good night." Though his friend's request sounded simple, Chazz didn't think he could do it. He couldn't be the one to tell Makari that Casimir was dead.

Chazz sat next to the mattress, watching the boy for any signs of life. The only thing that set Casimir apart from a corpse was the gentle rising of his chest, which wasn't even that visible. Chazz heaved a weary sigh as he took the boy's wrist and felt for a pulse. It was extremely weak.

It felt like the longest night Chazz had ever been through. He was exhausted from the fight and his body and mind desperately needed rest. However, as painful as it was to look at Casimir, Chazz just couldn't leave him. It wouldn't feel right. He wanted to do something, anything for the boy, but it was hopeless. All he could do was watch and wish things had gone differently. Casimir had been so close to the stable life he wanted and needed so much, but in the end, Chazz had failed him.

After a few hours had gone by, Chazz couldn't focus as well as before, and it looked to him like Casimir had stopped breathing altogether. Chazz's eyes shot wide open and he immediately put his ear to the boy's chest. There was a faint sound, and although Chazz was relieved, he just couldn't take it anymore. Tears filled his eyes as he lifted his head. "I'm... I'm so sorry..." he whispered. "I should never have let this happen to you... I should've... I should've..." Chazz buried his face in his hands, his shoulders shaking as he cried.

Tarian was quite pleased by the reaction he had gotten from Darast. Valtteri would definitely be tied up once again. The chatter in the group didn't interest Tarian much until Nadina spoke. He narrowed his eyes. He knew he couldn't give away his involvement in that attack, but he couldn't let her go on like that. "So attacking innocent elves is clearly the solution." Tarian rolled his eyes. "Foolish humans. This will only anger the elves even more, possibly even to the point of involving the army. Is a war what you want?"

Raphael was still pretty shaken up by what he had seen, but he was finally able to look around and see that people were injured, Valtteri and Elyse specifically. He wanted to tie up Valtteri as soon as possible, so he went to heal him first. "Um... I-I-I... I'll h-heal you..." Raphael said quietly, not looking at the man's face. He wanted to just get the healing done, so he started before Valtteri could say anything. It was hard to focus, but once Raphael thought he had done enough, he got away from him.

Darast shook his head. "It don't matter what he was doin', that ain't yer judgement to hand down." Valtteri seemed to have a big problem with that kind of stuff and Darast had no idea how to how to get through to him. Raphael went over to Valtteri and started healing him, so Darast decided to look for the rope that had been binding him before the battle. After he located it, he waited until Raphael was finished, then firmly bound Valtteri's hands together once again.

Airon had moved away from Valtteri when Raphael went to heal him. He didn't really know what to think about the whole situation. The beheading was very troubling, his friend was getting tied up again, and now the two most racist members of their group were going at it.

He wished he'd never been forced to go on this stupid trip with his brother. He knew his family was trying to convert him to their ways but if anything the whole thing just made him hate it all even more. He decided to go for a little stroll, away from the group, but not too far since he knew there were still humans around who would attack him on sight.

"I am unhurt," the elf replied. "Ah, but you bleed! Let me heal it, to repay kindness." He tentatively reached out and touched her shoulder, then concentrated on it and managed to stop the bleeding and fix it somewhat, but it still didn't look the best. He looked down at his feet and said, "Sorry, the best I can do."

Nadina couldn't believe what she was hearing. She stomped her foot and yelled, "We did not want anything to begin with! If anything, I would guess that it is the bloody elves who wanted a war! The humans only fight to defend themselves!"

Miletus Roleplay - Page 30 Empty Re: Miletus Roleplay

Post by sagiri 25th August 2013, 11:38 pm

As Casimir slowly started to regain consciousness, the first thing he became aware of was pain. The pain gave rise to fear; he didn't know where he was, if he was dying or even dead. As he became more lucid, he heard someone crying. He finally managed to force his eyes open. It took him a moment to focus his vision but when he did, he was looking up at a clearly devastated Chazz.

Casimir still had no idea where he was, but that mattered less knowing that Chazz was there with him. "Chazz...?" It was an effort to speak. "What... what happened...? Why are you... crying...?"

He remembered the cause of his injury then and was grateful to see Chazz alive. However, he didn't know where the others were and this place was entirely unfamiliar; for all Casimir knew, they could be being detained by the rogues. "Wh-what... happened to the... rogues...?" His voice shook.

After what felt like a lifetime, the clerics finally informed Azrael that he could see his brother. He wasted no time heading to Gabriel's room and sat next to the mattress his brother was resting on. Gabriel was alive, but he was clearly unwell. Azrael wouldn't be able to find peace of mind until his brother was awake and healthy.

He exhaled, wishing there was something he could do. He'd never felt this helpless with Gabriel before; he'd always been able to keep his brother safe. Gabriel was everything to him. Almost every decision he made was made with Gabriel in mind. Without him, Azrael couldn't imagine what his life would become. He hated himself for letting this happen; he should have been able to stop Orson. After spending so many years protecting his brother, he couldn't believe that his own carelessness could very well render it all meaningless.

Valtteri started to thank Raphael for healing him, but the elf wasted no time in walking off. Darast then started binding his hands. Valtteri glared at the paladin, wondering if he knew how stupid he sounded. "It has nothing to do with 'judgment'," he replied, "If it's kill or be killed, then I'm going to be the one doing the killing." That applied to Airon as well; if he was in danger, Valtteri wouldn't hesitate to do whatever he had to to protect his friend. "I don't have time to wait for some deity to save me." He spat the word 'deity' like it was venom in his mouth; if they even existed, they seemed pretty apathetic in Valtteri's eyes.

"I'd appreciate that a lot," Elyse said to the elf, giving him a smile. She hadn't expected him to be able to heal, but it was a good thing that he was. He managed to stop the bleeding and ease some of the pain, which was a big help. "You don't have to be sorry," she assured him. "It feels a lot better. Thank you." She spied Airon wandering around then. He wasn't moving too far from the group, but with everyone else clearly preoccupied, she figured she should keep an eye on him just in case. "Do you know anything about why this town was attacked?" she asked the elf she was speaking to. The whole situation was highly troubling.

Miletus Roleplay - Page 30 Empty Re: Miletus Roleplay

Post by Kiseki 5th September 2013, 11:23 pm

Chazz was sobbing softly with his face still in his hands, so he wasn't able to see any movement from Casimir. The sound of the boy's voice was so unexpected that Chazz almost didn't realize what it was at first. However, someone had clearly said his name and there was only one other person in the room. He lowered his hands and sure enough, Casimir was looking back at him.

"C-Cas...?" Chazz sniffled and wiped his eyes. "You... y-you're alive... you're actually..." Just moments ago, Casimir was dead. Hearing the boy's voice again was nothing short of a miracle. Nothing could have stopped the grateful smile that came to Chazz's face as relief came over him. This had all been so sudden that he couldn't even think about how embarrassing it was to be seen crying like that, and he almost didn't realize that Casimir was asking him questions. He recalled the last one. "Don't worry, we got them... we did it." Chazz gently put a hand on his shoulder. "We all did it."

Gabriel felt like he had been asleep for a long time when he finally began to wake up. His eyes opened slightly and he immediately winced from the incredible pain he was in. He couldn't even remember why he was in such pain, but he could recall fighting some rogues. Gabriel soon became aware of someone nearby which reminded him that he had no idea where he even was. However, seeing Azrael at his side made him feel completely safe. "Az..." Gabriel's voice came out as a whisper, so he coughed weakly. "Az... where... are we... right now...?"

Raphael was a bit relieved to see Darast tying up Valtteri again. He didn't really want to be anywhere near the severed head or the racist argument, so he started toward Elyse and the elf they had just rescued, as he had noticed before that at least Elyse needed healing. As he got closer, something struck him as odd. The fact that the elf seemed to be healing Elyse was fine, but when he spoke, Raphael could not place his accent at all. He had never heard an elf that sounded quite like him, and Raphael had met them from a wide variety of regions. If he got the chance, he would need to ask the man about it. "Um... are y-y-you injured a-at... at all?" Raphael asked the elf when he made it to Elyse's side, and then realized that he may have been interrupting. He started blinking quickly and nervously.

Tarian raised an eyebrow when Nadina started yelling. Her voice was grating on his nerves. He wished he could just tell her exactly what he thought, but he knew that would be very unwise in a town full of angry humans. "War? We have much better uses of our time. It is not our fault that you humans overreacted to a few rogues getting carried away in some village." Although Tarian really was for the war, any time spent with the humans was a waste as far as he was concerned.

Darast stepped back, but still held the end of the rope. "Ya judged that they should die. There's another option, as ya can see by how me, Elyse, 'n' Raphie took care of those humans just by knockin' 'em out. We let 'em live so maybe they'll decide to repent, or maybe they'll keep goin' about their evil ways an' wind up in jail. It ain't our decision to make." Valtteri seemed to have a very stark view of the world, but it wasn't unfamiliar to Darast.

He folded his arms and continued. "I used to be a mercenary, and I thought it was only kill or be killed too. But Bahamut still saw fit ta take me in as his paladin and I learned that there're other ways ta live. Me an' him work together; I stop the bad guys an' he judges 'em. I don't care how ya feel about deities, this is just how it is."

The elf looked back up from his feet when Elyse asked him about the town. He shook his head and replied, "I do not know, it was surprise to me. I arrive here, um, yesterday to perform for people, but today performance was... shortened by attack."

He stopped when Raphael appeared and spoke to him. He had some difficulties following the elf's speech with his stammer, but he was able to understand after a moment. Raphael's rapid blinking was slightly distracting, though. "Um, I am unharmed, thank you," he said.

Nadina gave a great sigh and said, "You are absolutely impossible. We are done here." She was wasting her time and breath on this stupid elf and had had enough of it. She noticed Airon watching them and turned in the opposite direction as she marched off, Yuki trailing closely behind.

Casimir nodded weakly as Chazz marveled over the fact that he was alive. Judging by the man's reaction, he'd been very close to dying from his injuries. That fact was terrifying, but having Chazz there with him eased his mind somewhat. He hadn't forgotten that Chazz had promised to protect him and not abandon him, so Chazz's presence made him feel secure.

When Chazz answered his question about the rogues, Casimir's face absolutely lit up. He had been living in constant fear of them for so long and now they were gone. "We did...? That's great... they're finally gone. It's... it's just such a relief." He was smiling from ear to ear. He knew that if it wasn't for Chazz, he would have been captured a long time ago. "Thanks, Chazz... for everything."

Azrael had been starting to lose hope by the time he finally heard Gabriel's voice. He looked down at his brother's face, afraid that he was hearing things. When he saw that Gabriel was actually awake, a smile crept onto his face and, very carefully, he gave his brother a hug. He didn't do things like that often, so after the fact he awkwardly said, "I thought... you weren't going to make it." He realized that Gabriel had asked him a question then. "We're at a temple in Lysas. You and Casimir were injured in the fight with the rogues, so we came here to get the clerics' aid." He was still smiling as he spoke; knowing that Gabriel was alive was a huge relief.

"Good for you, Elyse and Raphie," Valtteri responded flatly when Darast pointed out how they had dealt with the humans. "I'm sure you're proud." The paladin then kept going on. Valtteri watched him blankly. "...why are you reciting your biography? I don't really care about your new lifestyle."

Elyse nodded at the elf. "Oh... so you're a traveler?" A traveling performer, from the sounds of it. "Where are you heading? This area seems like it could be pretty dangerous so if you're going further into elven territory, you can come with us."

Chazz's smile only grew at Casimir's reaction to the news. He had caused so much to go wrong for the boy in the past, and nothing felt better than being able to bring a smile to his face. Casimir then expressed his gratitude toward Chazz, which caught him off guard a little. Chazz had allowed him to become injured like this, not to mention the kidnapping, lies, and betrayal when they first met. The fact that the boy had nothing but gratitude for him at this point made Chazz feel like he was finally making up for all that.

"You don't have to thank me..." he replied, lightly squeezing Casimir's shoulder. "I'm... I'm just so glad to see you happy after everything... it's... how you should be..." Chazz was too relieved and happy to stop himself from saying what he truly felt.

When Azrael's face lit up, Gabriel had to smile as well. He loved his brother's smile, but saw it so rarely. Weakly, he got his arms sort of around Azrael when the man hugged him. It had been a long time since Gabriel had seen his brother like this, and he couldn't help but feel like a kid again. "Of... course I... wouldn't go down... that easily... I couldn't... leave you all alone..." Gabriel said. He sort of remembered Casimir being injured. "How... is Casimir? And... the rogues...?" He hoped they hadn't had to leave the base before their work was finished.

"Okay... g-g-good." Raphael could tell that the elf was a bit distracted by his tics, which was a reaction he was used to. Being used to it didn't make him feel any less awkward, though. He tried to stop the blinking and instead his ears started twitching, so he looked away out of embarrassment. Elyse then suggested that the elf come with their group, and Raphael nodded in agreement. Traveling would be incredibly dangerous with the humans as angry as they were. "Yes, we... w-w-we would... we would gladly t-take you. It... would b-be no... no... no trouble at all."

Tarian was pleased to see Nadina walk away, but he was also irritated by how she had felt the need to waste his time like that. He had yet to meet a human who wasn't irritating, though. Tarian noticed Airon nearby, so he approached his brother. "Are you unharmed?" He hadn't gotten to keep an eye on him during the battle.

Darast shrugged in response to Valtteri. He had been trying to make some sort of connection with him and tell him how he'd been able to change, but clearly Valtteri was in no mood for that. The guy would have to face it eventually, though.

He looked around and saw that there were still people prowling around the town. They wouldn't be safe from neither humans nor elves if either of them decided to attack. "We should probably get goin' soon."

"Yes, travelling bard," the elf replied. "I have no destination in mind. I ask around for next town or find it myself." He looked from Elyse to Raphael as they both offered for him to come along with them and grinned. "That would be splendid, many thanks! You people are too kind!" He definitely didn't want to end up in a situation similar to the one they'd just saved him from, and it had been quite a while since he'd travelled with other people too.

Airon watched Tarian approach and replied, "I'm fine, Valtteri kept me safe." He wrinkled his nose and added, "I'm so pissed that you brought us along on this stupid trip, I hate getting stuck in your crap."

In spite of his injuries, Casimir felt at ease as Chazz spoke to him and squeezed his shoulder. The man looked as happy as Casimir felt. It was as if a huge burden had finally been lifted from all of their shoulders. "So does that... mean after this... we can... stop running and... go home?" He knew that Makari would come with him and he found himself hoping that Chazz would too.

Hearing Gabriel say that he could never leave Azrael alone was oddly comforting to the man. Life without Gabriel was the one thing Azrael didn't feel equipped to handle. "I'm not sure about Casimir... the clerics took care of him and Chazz and Makari were with him the last I knew. We defeated the rogues, though. They're done for." Azrael wasn't sure what he and Gabriel would do now, but the sense of freedom was refreshing. He knew his brother would like to be out of there.

"Yeah, no kidding." Valtteri was relieved when Darast said it was time to head out; he felt like a sitting duck being tied up the way he was in a place with so much tension.

Elyse smiled when the elf accepted their offer. "You don't have to thank us," she assured him. "I'm just glad we found you when we did. Those humans were really hostile." She frowned; finding out more information about the situation was something she really wanted to do, but she knew it wasn't safe to linger here. "Are you good to leave now?"

There was still a small smile on Chazz's face when Casimir asked his question. "Yeah. We're going home." It felt so good to finally say that. Chazz found himself thinking back to when he first met Casimir and realized that he was finally doing what the boy had originally asked of him. He never imagine things would work out like this. "Once you're better... I'll take you straight to Orios. And this time, we'll really find your house."

"Oh... hope he's okay..." Gabriel mumbled when Azrael told him about Casimir's condition. However, what he said at the end made the man's face light up. "R-really...? That's... that's so great..." Gabriel smiled widely. Being in the rogue group helped them get by, but it was never something he enjoyed. "Don't... you feel like... we're finally free?"

Raphael knew that Elyse probably knew he was ready to go anytime; the place was too dangerous to stay any longer. Darast and Valtteri looked ready to go, so he looked toward Tarian and Airon. He motioned for them to come join the others.

Tarian sighed. "Airon, you know that it wasn't my decision to bring you, and I definitely had no say regarding that friend of yours," he said, glancing disdainfully at Valtteri. "But I agree with Father that you should not be so disconnected from family affairs." Tarian noticed Raphael and realized that it must have been time to get going. "Come, we need to leave this place."

It wasn't long before the group left the ravaged town, with their new companion in tow. Their destination wasn't too much further, but it was starting to get late and traveling at night was far too risky. Fortunately, there was a checkpoint nearby with a small inn for travelers.

Tarian wanted to make it to the city as soon as possible, but he didn't object to stopping. There was no way he could take these humans back with him, especially with the recent hostilities, so he needed some way to get rid of them. Just killing them would probably be simplest, since their guards would be down. Tarian contemplated this more as they reached the inn.

The elf nodded. "Oh yes, I would like to leave." He made sure he still had his lute and the rest of his things, then waited for the group to get going.

"Family affairs, shmamily shmaffairs," Airon grumbled as he went to join the rest of the group. As far as he was concerned, this all-important family affairs stuff could fall off a cliff.

They all headed out and travelled for what was left of the day, then stopped in at a nearby inn. It was small but cozy, and the elf thought it would be a good place to play his lute and help the group get over what they had seen back in the town. He went into the inn's common room, took out his lute, and started to play.

Darast had just finished dropping his stuff off in his room when he heard the tune. It sounded pretty nice, so he went out and found their new elf friend was the one playing it. The other travellers staying at the inn had stopped what they were doing to listen, and he even saw Nadina standing off to the side, listening.

Airon had been given Valtteri's rope so they could sort out their room together, though only after Darast had made Airon swear on all the good deities that he wouldn't let his friend go. He was still considering it anyway, but then he heard the music coming from the common room. "Hey, do you hear that? It sounds pretty cool!" he said to Valtteri.

Miletus Roleplay - Page 30 Empty Re: Miletus Roleplay

When Chazz confirmed that he'd take Casimir home, nothing could have made the boy happier. In spite of how weak he looked and felt, it was apparent that he was overjoyed to hear that. "Chazz... that's great... I can't wait. Thank you so much..." It seemed like everything was finally going to be all right and Casimir owed it to Chazz. Even though the man had gotten him into this mess, he'd also gotten him out of it and helped him through a lot. Casimir was even able to meet his uncle as a result.

Azrael nodded in agreement with what Gabriel said about Casimir. Seeing how his brother's face lit up after hearing about how they'd defeated the rogues made Azrael certain that they'd done the right thing. "I do. I'm not sure what we'll do yet, but I'm sure we'll find something." They had a lot more life experience and were generally in a better place than they'd been when they'd had to join the group all those years ago, so Azrael felt like things were going to work out.

Elyse was glad to reach the inn; everyone needed a chance to rest and recover from the battle both physically and mentally. As she and Raphael were getting settled in, she heard music coming from the common area. "That sounds so nice... do you want to go check it out?" Elyse asked. She knew that what Valtteri had done had upset Raphael a lot, so he could probably use the distraction.

Valtteri wasn't in a good mood at all. He spent the entire trip alternating between glaring holes into the heads of Tarian and Darast. When the paladin handed the rope over to Airon, Valtteri was relieved that he'd finally be away from those people. Airon was the only one he wanted anything to do with.

He heard the music around the same time Airon pointed it out and nodded. It actually did sound nice and he found the sound calming. "Yeah, it does, actually... I guess it's coming from out there."

Chazz still couldn't help but smile. Not only was Casimir actually alive, Chazz had been able to make him so happy and the boy was thanking him. "It's no problem... I... owe it to you." It was then that he thought of Makari. The man should have been the first to know that his nephew had survived. "Just a minute, I have to go get your uncle."

He didn't want to leave Casimir alone for long, so Chazz went quickly to Makari's room and gently shook his friend's shoulder. "Makari... you need to come see Casimir." Chazz's initial excitement had died down more, but there was still a hint of a smile on his face. "He's awake."

Gabriel nodded, smiling. "Of course... we will. We always do... as long as... we're together..." He always felt like the two of them together could accomplish anything when he thought back to what they'd been through already. Gabriel was so glad to have a brother like Azrael.

Raphael had been fairly quiet ever since the fight. He was working on unpacking a couple of things he would need when he heard music start playing. The tune was calming in a way, which Raphael really needed. He looked toward Elyse and nodded. "Y-y-yeah... I would l-like that." He offered her a small smile. "It w-w-w-will be nice... nice t-to relax for a change."

The two went to the inn's common area and found that the elf they had saved was playing his lute. It made sense, seeing as he had introduced himself as a traveling bard. Raphael tried to forget about everything that was bothering him and just focused on the music. "He i-i-is... quite t-talented," he said to Elyse.

Tarian went straight to his room when they reached the inn. He heard the nice music as well, but didn't feel any need to investigate. He still needed to figure out what exactly to do with these humans. Attacking while they were asleep would be ideal, but he would need to be careful; if they got the chance to gang up on him, he'd be in trouble.

"C'mon, let's go see!" Airon urged Valtteri. Valtteri didn't get much say in the matter, since Airon was holding the rope and he pulled him along out to the common room. He noticed that pretty much everyone else from their group was there too, except his brother. That wasn't really surprising, though. He then whispered to his friend, "Hey, it's that guy they saved back at the town. It's a good thing his playing is better than his Common."
