The Booke of Arcana - Group 2
First topic message reminder :
Pelor and Heironious, gods of the sun and of justice pace around their viewing room, glancing every once in awhile at a pool of water in the center of the room which reflects the goings on of Elthyria.
"It's getting worse..." Heironious said, "What are we going to do? At this rate, Elthyria will fall and it will no longer be a place of peace."
"We were not meant to meddle in the affairs of mortals." Pelor replied, "However, this will escalate and once Elthyria is taken by it, it will start to effect us. Bloodraven is seeking the answers on how to become a god..."
"And our enemies, the evil gods are supporting him in this..." Heironious added.
Pelor walked to the pool and looked down into it, watching the world of man, then he smiled, "We may not be able to directly help mortals...but there's nothing that says we can't give them a friendly shove in the right direction..." The pool shifted, and rippled and then a woman came into view. She was sitting in a chair....reading. Usually there is nothing peculiar about someone reading, but she had a white sash tied around her eyes, obviously blinded by it to be reading. A snowy white owl was perched on her shoulder. It too seemed to be reading the contents of the book.
"Ah yes...Navari Valance..." Heironious muttered, "Her father was a planeswalker, wasn't he?"
"Yes." Pelor replied, "One of the last...murdered by Bloodraven because he would not join the Order. Because she was so young, Bloodraven tortured her and blinded her as a warning not to go against him...but...Thomas Valance knew he was going to be killed, and he passed his knowege onto his daughter."
"Knowledge?" Heironious asked.
"The Knowledge of the Booke of Arcana...where it lies...and how to get past it's obstacles in hopes that she could claim the book and put an end to The Order's reign. He was one of the 12 that constructed the book...going from world to world gathering up every spell not yet recorded."
"Surely Bloodraven would want such a book..."
"He knows of it, but believes it to be nothing but a myth. With that, we have an advantage over him...she is going to have to set out soon to find the booke...so we can put a stop to this before it's too late. Avery!"
There was a little pop and a small little girl with tiny angel wings appeared. She wore white robes and sandals on her feet. Golden bangles jingled on her wrists and her long golden hair flowed down to the small of her back. Her eyes were pale blue. "You called?" She said in a sweet, childish voice.
"Yes. I need you to go to Navari Valance and give her a message from the gods. Tell her it is time for her to seek out the Booke and accomplish her father's wishes."
"Pelor...surely she can't do this alone?" Heironious interjected.
"Of course not." He said dismissively, "Avery, once you speak to her, I want you to seek out these people to meet up with her and help her. I have been watching these selected individuals for awhile now, and I find them capable of accomplishing the task at hand."
Avery nodded, and from out of nowhere there appeared a piece of parchment and a quill in her hands as she began to scribble down the names Pelor gave her.
"Trieste Larell, Covina Nicolet, Talon Rygnis, Iggy Dytiarte, and Jinhosa Asheye." Pelor smiled at Avery.
"Done!" She said in triumph, "I won't let ya down, sir!" She said with a salute and then she put the parchment into a pocket on her robes and jumped into the pool of water.
"Now..." Pelor said, "We wait."

Navari sat in a big comfy chair by the fire blazing in the hearth reading a big, thick, leather bound book titled "The Adventures of Sir Gwain: A Knight's Tale. She had read it multiple times, but it was one of her favorites. Luka, her snowy white owl was perched on her shoulder reading the book as well, for he was the only way Navari could see. Their telepathic link allowed her to see through his eyes so she wasn't completely blind, but saw the world from his eyes. It took her awhile to get used to at first, but now she figured if she ever did get her normal eyesight back it would be unfamiliar.
There was a sudden loud pop, and Navari jumped, the book slipped out of her hands, and with a loud hoot, Luka flew up into the rafters, Navari all the while seeing through his eyes as he flew upwards. He scanned around and saw the source of the noise - a small child with angel wings was hovering just in front of Navari's face. Seeing from Luka's point of view, she saw herself sitting in the chair with girl hovering only inches from her face.
"Who are you?" Navari asked calmly.
"My name is Avery!" The girl said happily, "I was sent to you with a message from the gods!"
Navari raised her eyebrows. She had long ago lost faith in the gods, blaming them for what happened to her...what happened to her parents...and what is happening to the world. Therefore, she did not bother wasting breath on prayer, or energy on worship.
When she didn't say anything, Avery became somewhat uncomfortable, "So...umm...anyway...I was told to tell you that you need to start...umm...the quest that your father set before you long ago...to find the book he helped create...the book that can end The Order's tyranny."
Navari stood up and picked her book up off the floor, "And why can't they do it themselves? They're gods. Surely they can just come on down here and get the book themselves. For that matter, they're gods. Can't they just wave their hands and kill all the members of the Order? That would be much more convenient."
Avery looked offended, "They aren't allowed to meddle in the affairs of mortals! It's against their rules!"
Navari laughed, "Luka, point me to the bookcase." Navari's view of things shifted as Luka, from atop the rafters, looked over at the book case. Navari made her way over to it slowly, being careful not to bump into anything, and slid the book back into the book case, "Well then that is a problem isn't it?"
Avery screwed up her face in anger, "Ooooh! But you PROMISED YOUR FATHER!"
Navari froze. Avery had evidently struck a nerve, "That...was long ago. Before my parents were murdered...and before I was tortured and blinded. I can't keep my promise."
"You have to, Navari...that book is the only way the Order can be stopped...and only you know the way to it...don't think about this as being a mission to complete on behalf of the gods then, but think about all the innocent people who are being forced to do evil things for the Order...who are being killed by the Order...they need to be stopped, and you're the only one who can do that."
"Alone?" Navari said, contemplating things.
"No...I was given a whole list of people the gods think will be beneficial to you on this quest." She smiled, "Once I'm done here, I am supposed to go fetch them for you."
Navari thought for a moment. "What do you think, Luka?" She asked the owl. Luka ruffled his feathers before answering, I think we should do this. We've been stuck in this tower for AGES...and it is only a matter of time before The Order starts clearing out this forest for more of their cities. I think we should do it.
Navari sighed, "Fine. I will do this...but it's not for the gods. I'm doing it for us mortals. The ones the gods have seemed to forgotten."
Avery didn't argue. She was just happy she got Navari to oblige, "Tomorrow. I will have everyone here in your tower...then you can set out." With another "pop!" Avery disappeared.
Navari heaved a heavy sigh and fell back into her chair. Luka came and perched on her shoulder once more, Come on, Vari. This will be a grand adventure! We can finally avenge your parents, and yourself.
"Yeah.." Was all Navari had to say.

"The pleasure is mine." Iggy smiled, lifting his arm to stroke the small feathers atop Howl's head.
"I guess my favorite color would probably be.." his bright yellow eyes flicked up to look at a section of yellow streaks in his hair, and back down to the yellow grip tape that wrapped around his knife's handle. "Well.. I reckon it'd be yellow." he laughed. "And what may your favorite color be, Trieste?"

"Ooo! Yellow is such a pretty color!" Trieste comments, cheerfulness obviously heard in her voice. "That's the color of happiness. That's awesome."
"Oh, and my favorite color is orange!" Trieste answers, moving around to observe all the orange she has on. "We wear our colors proudly!"
~Covina~
Trieste then turns her attention to the girl that just introduced herself. She smiles and waves her over to their group. "Hello, Covina! Would you like to join in on our conversation? The question we've asked so far is 'What is your favorite color?'." Trieste chimes to Covina. "Oh! The next question will be... What's your favorite animal?"

Covina blinks at the young girl. Favorite animal? What kind of question is that, coming from one of the chosen ones. Covina decides to be polite and smiles. "I guess I would have to say a cat."
She looks at the human with an owl. "Although that is a beautiful owl you have there."

Jinhosa walked over behind Covina and listened to the group talk. He decided to introduce himself.
"Good evening. I am Jinhosa Gorath Asheye. Please call me Jinhosa." he said smiling at the group. He looked at Convina and then whispered in her ear so that she could only hear.
"Covina I believe the gods know what they are doing. They have picked each of us for a reason. We are either the best of the best or they have great faith in us." he said.

Covina's ears fall as Jinhosa whispers in her ear. She doesn't bother to hide the bitterness in her voice. "Pardon me if I disagree with you. The gods don't have a clue what they are doing. They are the reason everything happened in the first place."
Then Trieste asks him his favorite animal. "Yes Jinhosa what is your favorite animal?"

"It's my pleasure, Covina." Iggy said, smiling kindly at her, "Howl is actually part hawk, along with owl. I've always believed that's what makes him so unique. I'm sure he appreciates the compliment." he gently stroked Howl's wing as he spoke.
"It's also my pleasure to meet you, Jinhosa." Iggy turned, smiling at him as well.
After a pause, he added, "My name is Iggy, if anyone did not hear me say a moment ago."
Holding his forearm out in front of him, he let Howl crawl down to eat some bread crumbs from his hand.
He glanced from each person to the next, trying to figure out why these people socialized so awkwardly amongst eachother.
Scratching the back of his head with his free arm, he shrugged his shoulders, a passive grin on his face.
"I don't know about you guys, but I think that birds are quite extraordinary, myself." he said, laughing softly.

Navari sat in her chair listening to the goings on around her, not having any real drive to speak about anything. She wasn't really the talkative type. When it became late, she stood and got everyone's attention.
"I'm glad you've had this time to get to know your partners a little bit...as it is vital we like each other since we're going to be traveling together. It is late now, however, and we must get some sleep. Tomorrow morning, I will explain everything and then we will set out. The sooner we accomplish this, the sooner we can return to our homes safely without the eye of The Order bearing down on us. If you follow the spiral stair case, you will find vacant rooms. Make yourself at home, please." She said.

Tal had stood off the side, not paying a whole lot of attention to the others as they talked. He held Lita in his arms, and they chatted a bit between themselves. He looked up when Navari addressed them, however, and listened to what she had to say.
"Want to go find a room?" he asked Lita.
Better than standing around here. You didn't even try to talk to them, Lita said.
"I didn't want to stutter at them like a fool..."
He then made his way toward the spiral staircase. As he passed Navari he said, "Th-thanks for the h-hospitality."

Covina nods acknowledging Navari. She says a polite thank you to her and walks quickly to the spiral staircase. So much has happened today, and she is sure that it is only the beginning. She finds her room, the first one on the left hand side of the stair case. She takes off the belt with her daggers. She regrets not packing anything else. However she had been on a simple walk before this. She sits on the edge of the bed provided to her. She thinks about the people the gods picked to do this task for them.
She is thankful to have Talon and Jinhosa. At least there is some familiarity there. Talon has always treated her with respect and they had more of a friendship than a master/servant relationship. Maybe now they can be true friends. The other two seem friendly enough, but there is something about Iggy.
Covina starts to absorb everything that Jinhosa told her though. First her father, and now her mother both dead at the hands of the Order. She walks over to the small window and looks out. Tears started to trickle from her eyes. Her mother was supposed to be protected. They promised both of them. She was a Healer, they needed her. She lifts up her hand as a small ball of fire appears in it. She will make them pay...All of them.

"Mmkay!" Trieste yells out to Navari when she speaks of resting. "I'm so tired! I'm sure any bed would be better than the one I've slept on for a while... Welp, better get to rest, then! Nighty-night, everyone!"
And, with that, Trieste skipped over to the stairs, galloped up them, and disappeared into a vacant room to sleep.

Jinhosa has to think about what his favorite animal is. hmm.. he thought. "A wild cat." he said. He then notices that everyone is going to bed. He looks at what he has with him and then goes to a room. He lays down in the bed and looks up at the ceiling.
He lays there just looking up. untill he falls asleep.

"Thank you." Iggy says to Navari, smiling, bowing with his arm out in a lively, over-the-top gesture. He turned, gliding up the stairs with Howl steadily perched on his shoulder. Entering one of the empty rooms, he noiselessly shut the door.
"Home.." he mused, "as if such a place exists anymore.."
Crossing over to the bed, he used the blanket to form a nest-like pile. Gently, he set Howl down in the middle of the heap. Slinking down to a sitting position, Iggy leaned against the frame of the bed. He lifted up his shirt, revealing the loose fitting, blood-stained bandage that wrapped around his torso. Slowly, he peeled off the bandage.
The cylindrical canister barely protruded from his lower abdomen, skin growing over only certain parts of the edge. Wires of every kind came out in all directions from the foreign object. The wires led to various spots in which they has grown and dug into his skin. Iggy's fingers skimmed over each wire, making sure they were in the proper place. Taking the bandage in his hands, he rewrapped it, covering the canister and wires.
"Such a repulsive looking thing." he laughed, looking at his handiwork. "But, even so, underneath that, is something beautiful." he smiled, a genuine grin.
Limberly sliding into a standing position, Iggy ruffled the feathers on Howl's head.
"Of course, it's only a last resort right now. I don't want to die, yet. I want to stay for the show! The acts just keep coming! The climax hasn't even arrived!" he threw his arms out in exuberance. "Isn't it wonderful?" his eyes were bright.
Taking a breath, Iggy walked back over to Howl.
"Goodnight, Howl." he said, stroking his hand down the bird's wings.
He stretched out beside Howl's blanket, and fell into a shallow sleep.

Covina wakes up with a start. She doesn't realize where she is at first. She looks around the room for Talon. When she doesn't see him she jumps out of the bed. Only then does she realize where she is and what happened the night before. She puts on her clothes, wishing that the messenger had given them a chance to pack before taking them away...She doesn't even have a hairbrush to put through her hair.
She makes a small ball of water in her hand and uses it to at least make her hair more presentable. After that she leaves her room and goes down to the library. A part of her wants to explore the tower, but that is not polite. So she goes to the fireplace, starts a fire and waits.

Trieste opened her eyes and blinked twice for her eyes to adjust to her surroundings. This wasn't the usual ceiling she was used to seeing. Then she realized where she was, sat up, and looked around the room, taking in the design. When she had slipped into the room, she went straight to sleep, so she didn't even look around the room.
"Wow... I must be losing my edge!" Trieste whispered to herself. "Anyways, I should probably get up, now..."
As she got out of the bed, she looked into a mirror that was hanging in the room and flinched.
"When did my hair get this bad!?" She muttered to herself as she combed through her hair with her fingers. As her hair began to settle down into a presentable fashion, she picked up her flute and played a tune on it quietly enough so that it wouldn't bother the people around her. She opened the door a little and poked her head out to look around outside.
"Now..." Trieste thought aloud, "Which way did I come from?"
As she muttered this to herself, she exited her room, looked to her left and right, and decided to walk to her right, not knowing if it was the right way or not.

[Attn: Open] ((OOC: I'm very sorry I haven't been posting...I just started school and I'm more busy now...I don't have a whole lot of time to think about where i want this to go next...XD So it might be slow from now until Christmas, but I do intend to keep up with it. Just please be patient with me!!))
Navari had awoken at the crack of dawn, as always. Everyone else seemed to be asleep. She got up, dressed in her usual white robes (clean one's of course), and went into the kitchen where she began to prepare morning meal. Luka sat on her shoulder, as always her eyes.
It took a couple hours to cook the food. Her stomach rumbled as the enticing smell wafted into her nose. Soon, the table in the library was covered in platters of sausages and hams, biscuits, eggs, and cereals. Pitchers of juice, milk, and tea were also there. She took a biscuit and pulled a piece of it off for Luka. He pecked at it from her hand eagerly. She put a little bit of honey on the other half, and popped it into her mouth. Then she went over to her chair and sighed as she plopped down into it, waiting for the others to come down. She was ready to get this mission over with.

As Trieste headed down the pathway she had chosen, a scent filled the air around her. As she took in the scent, her stomach growled, just now telling her that she is hungry. Trieste followed the scent down the set of stairs that she recognized once she saw them, and slipped into the library, where the smell was strong. As she entered the room, she stared at the single person behind the table. "Hello... Um..." Trieste started to say, but lost track of what she was saying as she directed her attention to the table. "...Is that food for... all of us?"
She moved her hand to her face to cover the smile that was creeping up on it. She hadn't seen this much food in front of her ever before.

Luka looked up as he and Navari heard someone enter the library, and Navari saw, through Luka's eyes, Trieste enter.
"...Is that food for...all of us?" The girl asked.
Navari nodded, "Yes. Please, help yourself." She motioned to the table, "I hope you slept well?"

Library group.
Jinhosa opens his eyes and looks around the room. He remembers where he is and sits up in the bed. He then walks over to where there is a bowl of water for him to clean himself up. He finishes up and walks out to the library. He sighs and says good morning to everyone that is in the room.

"Oh, I did sleep well, thank you! Did you..?" Trieste asked as she moved to the table, helping herself to some of the sausages. She took a bite, but immediately had to bring a napkin to her face to wipe away some drool. She looked up at Navari and smiled a wide smile. "This is really good!" she exclaimed gleefully.
~Jinhosa~
As Jinhosa said his good mornings, Trieste turned around to smile at him, as well. "Morning!" she said gleefully. "You should try some of this food! It's really delicious!"

Iggy sat propped up against the wall, listening to the noise made by those who were moving about. He had been awake for a while, but had decided to keep to himself until others had awoken.
He jumped in to a standing position, and smoothed his shirt back into place. Moving across the room, he kicked the single black pair of shoes he owned out of his way. He had always hated shoes.
Stopping beside the bed, he cracked his neck, followed by his shoulders, and ended with his fingers. He scooped Howl off the bed, who scrabbled up his arm to perch on his shoulder.
Silently opening the door, Iggy descended down the stairs towards the room he heard the voices coming from. Upon entering the room, he spoke the next time there was a break inbetween the other's conversation.
"Goodmorning, everybody." he said, scratching the back of his head, a tired grin on his face.
Howl began to nip at Iggy's hair as he saw all of the food, making a noise that half resembled a growl.
"C'mon, Howl." Iggy said, pulling his hair free of How'ls beak. "You're going to get food. Food that isn't my hair." he laughed, playfully shoving the bird's head away from his own.
Grabbing a piece of toast, he held it up to Howl, who instantly began to devour it.

{Attn: All in the Library, Talon}
Covina was tending to the fire when Navari started to set up the food. The young girl from yesterday was there too. She seems to be a very friendly girl. Covina could not help but smile. She was just as friendly at one time, but after years of being a slave you learn only to speak when you are spoken too. It is thanks to Talon that she is slowly coming out of her shell once again.
She sees that Jinhosa made his way down too. Her brother...She cannot believe it. Mom never spoke of him directly. Maybe it was for the better...I mean looked at what happened to her family.
The other young man with the beautiful bird came down shortly thereafter. Covina stifles a giggle as the bird starts nipping at her hair.
She composes herself once again and slowly walks over to the table. She is not used to such a spread. Covina takes a plate smiling politely at the others. She begins to place some food on it. She nods politely at Navari. "Miss Navari, thank you so much for making breakfast. I feel so bad for not helping with anything, I insist cleaning up afterward."
Covina looks around the room not seeing Talon. She almost drops her plate. "Oh no Mr. Rygnis is not here yet. Please excuse me as I attend to him." She sets her plate down before rushing out the library door. She goes up the stairs to the rooms. She stands outside of it knocking gently on the door. "Mr. Rygnis, Sir, it is time to wake up. Miss Navari made a delicious breakfast. Please forgive me for not waking you up sooner."
Old habits are hard to break...
