The Booke of Arcana - Group 1
First topic message reminder :
Pelor and Heironious, gods of the sun and of justice pace around their viewing room, glancing every once in awhile at a pool of water in the center of the room which reflects the goings on of Elthyria.
"It's getting worse..." Heironious said, "What are we going to do? At this rate, Elthyria will fall and it will no longer be a place of peace."
"We were not meant to meddle in the affairs of mortals." Pelor replied, "However, this will escalate and once Elthyria is taken by it, it will start to effect us. Bloodraven is seeking the answers on how to become a god..."
"And our enemies, the evil gods are supporting him in this..." Heironious added.
Pelor walked to the pool and looked down into it, watching the world of man, then he smiled, "We may not be able to directly help mortals...but there's nothing that says we can't give them a friendly shove in the right direction..." The pool shifted, and rippled and then a woman came into view. She was sitting in a chair....reading. Usually there is nothing peculiar about someone reading, but she had a white sash tied around her eyes, obviously blinded by it to be reading. A snowy white owl was perched on her shoulder. It too seemed to be reading the contents of the book.
"Ah yes...Navari Valance..." Heironious muttered, "Her father was a planeswalker, wasn't he?"
"Yes." Pelor replied, "One of the last...murdered by Bloodraven because he would not join the Order. Because she was so young, Bloodraven tortured her and blinded her as a warning not to go against him...but...Thomas Valance knew he was going to be killed, and he passed his knowege onto his daughter."
"Knowledge?" Heironious asked.
"The Knowledge of the Booke of Arcana...where it lies...and how to get past it's obstacles in hopes that she could claim the book and put an end to The Order's reign. He was one of the 12 that constructed the book...going from world to world gathering up every spell not yet recorded."
"Surely Bloodraven would want such a book..."
"He knows of it, but believes it to be nothing but a myth. With that, we have an advantage over him...she is going to have to set out soon to find the booke...so we can put a stop to this before it's too late. Avery!"
There was a little pop and a small little girl with tiny angel wings appeared. She wore white robes and sandals on her feet. Golden bangles jingled on her wrists and her long golden hair flowed down to the small of her back. Her eyes were pale blue. "You called?" She said in a sweet, childish voice.
"Yes. I need you to go to Navari Valance and give her a message from the gods. Tell her it is time for her to seek out the Booke and accomplish her father's wishes."
"Pelor...surely she can't do this alone?" Heironious interjected.
"Of course not." He said dismissively, "Avery, once you speak to her, I want you to seek out these people to meet up with her and help her. I have been watching these selected individuals for awhile now, and I find them capable of accomplishing the task at hand."
Avery nodded, and from out of nowhere there appeared a piece of parchment and a quill in her hands as she began to scribble down the names Pelor gave her.
"Drios the Gargoyle (Avery jumped slightly at this name and made an accidental mark on the parchment with her quill), Jinhosa Asheye, Joshua Sage, Heiola Setilan, and Haruette Arnold." Pelor smiled at Avery.
"Done!" She said in triumph, "I won't let ya down, sir!" She said with a salute and then she put the parchment into a pocket on her robes and jumped into the pool of water.
"Now..." Pelor said, "We wait."

Navari sat in a big comfy chair by the fire blazing in the hearth reading a big, thick, leather bound book titled "The Adventures of Sir Gwain: A Knight's Tale. She had read it multiple times, but it was one of her favorites. Luka, her snowy white owl was perched on her shoulder reading the book as well, for he was the only way Navari could see. Their telepathic link allowed her to see through his eyes so she wasn't completely blind, but saw the world from his eyes. It took her awhile to get used to at first, but now she figured if she ever did get her normal eyesight back it would be unfamiliar.
There was a sudden loud pop, and Navari jumped, the book slipped out of her hands, and with a loud hoot, Luka flew up into the rafters, Navari all the while seeing through his eyes as he flew upwards. He scanned around and saw the source of the noise - a small child with angel wings was hovering just in front of Navari's face. Seeing from Luka's point of view, she saw herself sitting in the chair with girl hovering only inches from her face.
"Who are you?" Navari asked calmly.
"My name is Avery!" The girl said happily, "I was sent to you with a message from the gods!"
Navari raised her eyebrows. She had long ago lost faith in the gods, blaming them for what happened to her...what happened to her parents...and what is happening to the world. Therefore, she did not bother wasting breath on prayer, or energy on worship.
When she didn't say anything, Avery became somewhat uncomfortable, "So...umm...anyway...I was told to tell you that you need to start...umm...the quest that your father set before you long ago...to find the book he helped create...the book that can end The Order's tyranny."
Navari stood up and picked her book up off the floor, "And why can't they do it themselves? They're gods. Surely they can just come on down here and get the book themselves. For that matter, they're gods. Can't they just wave their hands and kill all the members of the Order? That would be much more convenient."
Avery looked offended, "They aren't allowed to meddle in the affairs of mortals! It's against their rules!"
Navari laughed, "Luka, point me to the bookcase." Navari's view of things shifted as Luka, from atop the rafters, looked over at the book case. Navari made her way over to it slowly, being careful not to bump into anything, and slid the book back into the book case, "Well then that is a problem isn't it?"
Avery screwed up her face in anger, "Ooooh! But you PROMISED YOUR FATHER!"
Navari froze. Avery had evidently struck a nerve, "That...was long ago. Before my parents were murdered...and before I was tortured and blinded. I can't keep my promise."
"You have to, Navari...that book is the only way the Order can be stopped...and only you know the way to it...don't think about this as being a mission to complete on behalf of the gods then, but think about all the innocent people who are being forced to do evil things for the Order...who are being killed by the Order...they need to be stopped, and you're the only one who can do that."
"Alone?" Navari said, contemplating things.
"No...I was given a whole list of people the gods think will be beneficial to you on this quest." She smiled, "Once I'm done here, I am supposed to go fetch them for you."
Navari thought for a moment. "What do you think, Luka?" She asked the owl. Luka ruffled his feathers before answering, I think we should do this. We've been stuck in this tower for AGES...and it is only a matter of time before The Order starts clearing out this forest for more of their cities. I think we should do it.
Navari sighed, "Fine. I will do this...but it's not for the gods. I'm doing it for us mortals. The ones the gods have seemed to forgotten."
Avery didn't argue. She was just happy she got Navari to oblige, "Tomorrow...tomorrow..." She thought about Drios the gargoyle, "Tomorrow night I will have everyone here in your tower...then you can set out." With another "pop!" Avery disappeared.
Navari heaved a heavy sigh and fell back into her chair. Luka came and perched on her shoulder once more, Come on, Vari. This will be a grand adventure! We can finally avenge your parents, and yourself.
"Yeah.." Was all Navari had to say.

Drios let her play it once, then began singing along. He added his own flair to it to give it some of his own flavor. Soon the air, hung with the melody.

Their melody stayed in the air for quite a couple of minutes, blessed by the rising sun light. Hemiola slowed down the beat of the flute showing that it was almost done and eventually stoped at the same time as Drios. ''Thanks Drios, I needed that I believe. And you're quite a good singer by the way. '' Having a soft smile she also add ''Must be quite pretty to hear more then one of your kind sing in harmony. When your clan get restored, I hope i'll be able to hear this kind of beautifull melody. I imagine you guys must sing in harmony from time to time right ?'' She asked curious.

At her query, Drios laughed. "Heavens, no!" he said. "Old Rubric had a voice like cats in a sack! Dying cats in a sack! And Brion only wishes he could sing. He always confused loud for talent! Now, Lin, Jade, and Ruth could. We called them the trio. And Brom and Gorm were "The Duet." But now, the one who could really sing was Gisella, and--"
Happiness turned to sadness as he remembered her. He plastered his smile back, but it looked forced. "Gisella was the best singer of our clan," he finished lamely. "But she could also play a mean set of pipes." A look of adoration crossed his face. "And when she got in the mood to play, nothing stopped her. Not even Rubric."
He came out of his reminiscing. "How about you? Do you sing, as well, or just play?"

Surprised by his sudden laugh and passion as he talked about his old friend she chuckle a bit and listen his story. Although she wondered what was wrong when he suddely stoped at the mention of Gisella. She didn't asked however, scared to bring up some bad feeling when his mood seemed a bit better then earlier.
''My mom too couldn't be stoped when she was in the mood to play or sing, she was a wonderful person.'' She says smiling softly. Then came Drios question, she answered ''I am, sometimes.... however I must admit that I am a bit shy to do so naturaly like my mother was. So I do both, but I play more offen then I sing.''

"Well, that won't do!" Drios said. "You'll have to sing for me, some time. But I won't press the issue this day. Heh. Day. Funny, it's my first and I'm already talking about it as if I've always been out in it."
He looked at past the horizon. "So, like, what do people do during the day. You'll have to be my guide in this one."

She couldn't help but laugh a little bit as he told her she had to sing for him. ''Sure i'll sing sometime. Although it's been a long time and i'll be quite nervous on the first shot.'' Smiling, she couldn't help but chuckle at his mention of talking like he always lived in the day.
''Well ... peoples do a lots of things during the day. It can be pass time with their loved ones, hunt, travel, work, celebrate, make new friendship, play music, bake, harvest crop..... really peoples do a lot depending on culture and what they have to work on to earn their money.'' She said smiling.

Drios sighed. "Yeah," he said whistfully. "Well, I guess I'll find out soon enough. C'mon, we better see if our fearless leader is up."
He turned and descended into a window, then activated his disguise ring and caped his wings, heading down the stairs to the main room.

She followed him close enough and said as a joke ''Aww and here I thought we were going back by more fast transportation'' Her tone was playfull and obviously meant Drios's wings. But she follow him normaly to the main room.

Drios gave her a wry smile. "Yeah, that's all I need," he said with a laugh. "For some random farmer to be looking toward her tower and think she's been besieged by demons."

''Haha, you have a point friend. Though you're no demon to me !'' She said with a smile as they were going down. ''Still those stairs are going pretty high up, I dunno if she really go up those stairs sometime or if she just fly with some kind of spell. Oh well! I guess I'll know someday.'' Wondering how many stairs they had left since she couldn't even see the bottom yet she sigh thinking this tower was way too high for nothing.

Drios gave her a wry expression. "You're pretty lazy for a traveler," he said with a smile. He shrugged. "I guess there's nothing for it."
In an instant, he gathered her up in his arms, unfurled his wings (dispelling the illusion) and leapt off of the stairs, descending to the bottom in a circular pattern as he used his wings to slow the descent. They landed at the bottom a few minutes later.
"The express," he said, barking a laugh, as he put her down. "Now let's see if our host is up."
He entered the library.

''I'm not really lazy, more like impatient when places are too high for nothing !'' She expressed crossing her arms and smiling. But to her surprised he took her in his arm all of the sudden ''hm? I see you change your mind swe-eeoaah !'' She exclaimed as he leaped oof of the stairs and slowing the fall with his wings.
When they were finally down and he let her down she let out a small laugh herself as well. ''Thank you for the express service, it is appreciated ~'' She said on a playfull tone following him to the library.
''Hmmm, I wonder if there's really someone awake yet or not though. ''

"I've lived in high places all of my life," he returned. "I'm used to the climb. It's as natural as breathing for me. But I guess, considering you don't have wings, you're used to a different kind of lifestyle."
He reactivated the illusion and looked around the library. "Navari? You in here?"

Re: The Booke of Arcana - Group 1
[Attn: Drios, Hemiola, open]
Navari awoke before the sunrise as always. She got out of bed, dressed in her white mage robes, and tied her white sash around her head to conceal the eerie milkiness of her sightless eyes. Luka was perched on her shoulder, and as always, she used his eyes to see.
Navari headed towards the kitchen. She would prepare breakfast for her guests, and while they ate, she would discuss with them the plan for the quest.
While she was cooking, she heard singing from above, and cold only assume it was Drios. She couldn't help but smile at hearing the tune, even if it was a bit forlorn. Then came the loud, feral roar, which startled her a bit, and she nearly dropped the cooking pot. She wondered what had gotten him all worked up, but remembered their previous conversation...he was hurting.
Navari continued to prepare the breakfast meal and it wasn't long before she heard another melodic tune, this time, with a flute like sound, and she figured someone had joined Drios atop the tower.
Once breakfast was prepared - cooked slabs of ham, scrambled and fried eggs, fried potatoes, toast, a big bowl of oatmeal, and a big pitcher of milk - she put everything on two trays (as it couldn't fit on one) and mumbled a few arcane words. The trays levitated into the air, and she used her magic to levitate them into the library, laying them down on the desk against the wall. It was then that she noticed Drios and Hemiola's presence.
"Good morning." She said, "I hope you slept well, if you slept at all." She added, "The others are here as well. Sleeping, no doubt. I suppose I'll have to go and wake them."

''Mmm that look delicious Navari.'' Hemiola commented smelling the food. ''It's sweet of you to have made breakfast.'' She add with a soft smile. ''And I slept well, but I doubt our friend Drios here slept at all. ''
Then crossing her arms and having a look of wonder she ask ''I wonder how the others look like and what their speciality are. ''

After a fairly restless night, Joshua woke up when he heard stirring about the tower. He got out of bed, tidied himself up, and found his way to the library. Navari was already there with breakfast and was talking to a man and a woman. Joshua figured that they must be members of the group; they both looked tough. He hesitated for a moment before calling to them.
“Good morning,” Joshua said, and then continued a little timidly “Um… So… My name is Joshua.”
He didn’t really know what to say after that, so he looked at the food, and then at Navari. “Thank you so much for breakfast, Miss Valence. It looks and smells so delicious.”

After a restful night sleeping, Haruette opened her eyes in a drowsy manner. She slowly sat up in her bed, rubbing her eyes carefully. Soon, an extensive yawn escaped from her mouth. The realization that Haruette wasn't just waking up at her house hit her subtly but still noticeably. It was her first time going on any mission like this, and she could only imagine who she would be working with. The possibilities rolled through Haruette's mind like a rock on a steep hill. She let out a long breath as to relax herself and got out of bed. She then brushed her teeth and put on her eye patch.
It was then that Haruette received the most distressing thought so far. What if the others get curious about why she's wearing an eye patch? Will they be able to detect the properties of her hidden eye? Haruette had stuck with a single alibi that seemed to work with everyone, but would it work with her teammates? Haruette swallowed her doubtful questions and walked back to where she remembered first seeing Navari. She then heard the sound of voices coming from not too far away. Haruette followed the sound until she stumbled upon a library with Navari and two strangers inside. She walked inside stiffly before greeting the three with a simple "Good morning."

Drios inclined his head in response to Navari, and shook his head at Hemi's comment. Of course he didn't sleep at night, that was forced on him at sunrise. When the newcomers came in, he again inclined his head in acknowledgement.
"So what's on today's menu, O' Fearless Leader?" he asked.

Haruette nodded back to Drios and looked back to Hemiola. "It's nice to meet you too. My name is Haruette Arnold." She extended her hand as an offer for a handshake. Haruette tried forcing a smile so she would appear less awkward even though she wasn't the most energetic in the mornings.

Hemiola gladly accept the handshake and smile to Haruette. ''I see you're not a morning person, but it's alright. I think we're all a bit zombie on mornings.'' She then turn to the others and ask ''So ...shall we eat ?''

Re: The Booke of Arcana - Group 1
[attn: everyone]
Navari sat in her chair, picking at her plate of food, eating on it slowly. She has hardly ever hungry in the mornings. She watched everyone else help themselves to the food. Once they had finished, she stood.
"Now we must speak of this quest." She looked at each one of them, "Each one of us has been chosen by...the gods." She stressed the word 'gods' with mild annoyance, "For what reasons, I can not say, however, they are correct in their deduction that the book of legend can take down the order, and for that purpose, I am willing to retrieve it." Navari put her hands behind her back and paced back and forth, "My father was a planeswalker, one who can travel to other worlds through the astral planes. He was one of the last. For hundreds of years, he and his companions traveled to various worlds, collecting incantations of powerful spells unique to the world in which they had discovered them. They were doing it merely for the sake of knowledge...but like with everything else that holds immense power, the book was soon sought after by people who would abuse the power within it. So...my father and his companions hid the book and attached multiple safeguards that are almost impossible to get around." She looked at them then, "But I know how to get the book. Since I was born, my father made me study for hours a day to memorize how to retrieve the book if ever I needed it...or...if the world ever needed it. Just as there is powerful destructive spells in the book, there is also spells within it that can change the world for the better.
"This mission will not be easy. With the Order's eyes watching ever corner of the world, and expanding to places like this forest that have not been discovered, it will be an extremely difficult task, but we must do this if we are to remove The Order from the world." She scowled, "We have all been affected in some way by their tyranny, and I want nothing more than to be rid of them...forever. So...you have one last chance to back out of this if you do not want to participate. Will you accompany me to retrieve my father's book and put an end to The Order? Do you have any questions?

Hemiola listened to the plan on how to take the order out as well as Navari's story. She thought it could work well and that her skills would surely come in handy. Getting up she say what she think was right to say at this moment. ''You have my sneaky skills and my bow, friend. As well as my full support. I too want to get rid of this cruel order, they don't belong where they stand.''

"As far as I'm concerned," he began darkly, "these gods can shove it. However, they have granted me what I need to save my clan, thus I will help them and hold up my end of the bargain. I'm sure my unique set of skills will be of use one way or the other."
