The Booke of Arcana - Group 1
First topic message reminder :
Pelor and Heironious, gods of the sun and of justice pace around their viewing room, glancing every once in awhile at a pool of water in the center of the room which reflects the goings on of Elthyria.
"It's getting worse..." Heironious said, "What are we going to do? At this rate, Elthyria will fall and it will no longer be a place of peace."
"We were not meant to meddle in the affairs of mortals." Pelor replied, "However, this will escalate and once Elthyria is taken by it, it will start to effect us. Bloodraven is seeking the answers on how to become a god..."
"And our enemies, the evil gods are supporting him in this..." Heironious added.
Pelor walked to the pool and looked down into it, watching the world of man, then he smiled, "We may not be able to directly help mortals...but there's nothing that says we can't give them a friendly shove in the right direction..." The pool shifted, and rippled and then a woman came into view. She was sitting in a chair....reading. Usually there is nothing peculiar about someone reading, but she had a white sash tied around her eyes, obviously blinded by it to be reading. A snowy white owl was perched on her shoulder. It too seemed to be reading the contents of the book.
"Ah yes...Navari Valance..." Heironious muttered, "Her father was a planeswalker, wasn't he?"
"Yes." Pelor replied, "One of the last...murdered by Bloodraven because he would not join the Order. Because she was so young, Bloodraven tortured her and blinded her as a warning not to go against him...but...Thomas Valance knew he was going to be killed, and he passed his knowege onto his daughter."
"Knowledge?" Heironious asked.
"The Knowledge of the Booke of Arcana...where it lies...and how to get past it's obstacles in hopes that she could claim the book and put an end to The Order's reign. He was one of the 12 that constructed the book...going from world to world gathering up every spell not yet recorded."
"Surely Bloodraven would want such a book..."
"He knows of it, but believes it to be nothing but a myth. With that, we have an advantage over him...she is going to have to set out soon to find the booke...so we can put a stop to this before it's too late. Avery!"
There was a little pop and a small little girl with tiny angel wings appeared. She wore white robes and sandals on her feet. Golden bangles jingled on her wrists and her long golden hair flowed down to the small of her back. Her eyes were pale blue. "You called?" She said in a sweet, childish voice.
"Yes. I need you to go to Navari Valance and give her a message from the gods. Tell her it is time for her to seek out the Booke and accomplish her father's wishes."
"Pelor...surely she can't do this alone?" Heironious interjected.
"Of course not." He said dismissively, "Avery, once you speak to her, I want you to seek out these people to meet up with her and help her. I have been watching these selected individuals for awhile now, and I find them capable of accomplishing the task at hand."
Avery nodded, and from out of nowhere there appeared a piece of parchment and a quill in her hands as she began to scribble down the names Pelor gave her.
"Drios the Gargoyle (Avery jumped slightly at this name and made an accidental mark on the parchment with her quill), Jinhosa Asheye, Joshua Sage, Heiola Setilan, and Haruette Arnold." Pelor smiled at Avery.
"Done!" She said in triumph, "I won't let ya down, sir!" She said with a salute and then she put the parchment into a pocket on her robes and jumped into the pool of water.
"Now..." Pelor said, "We wait."

Navari sat in a big comfy chair by the fire blazing in the hearth reading a big, thick, leather bound book titled "The Adventures of Sir Gwain: A Knight's Tale. She had read it multiple times, but it was one of her favorites. Luka, her snowy white owl was perched on her shoulder reading the book as well, for he was the only way Navari could see. Their telepathic link allowed her to see through his eyes so she wasn't completely blind, but saw the world from his eyes. It took her awhile to get used to at first, but now she figured if she ever did get her normal eyesight back it would be unfamiliar.
There was a sudden loud pop, and Navari jumped, the book slipped out of her hands, and with a loud hoot, Luka flew up into the rafters, Navari all the while seeing through his eyes as he flew upwards. He scanned around and saw the source of the noise - a small child with angel wings was hovering just in front of Navari's face. Seeing from Luka's point of view, she saw herself sitting in the chair with girl hovering only inches from her face.
"Who are you?" Navari asked calmly.
"My name is Avery!" The girl said happily, "I was sent to you with a message from the gods!"
Navari raised her eyebrows. She had long ago lost faith in the gods, blaming them for what happened to her...what happened to her parents...and what is happening to the world. Therefore, she did not bother wasting breath on prayer, or energy on worship.
When she didn't say anything, Avery became somewhat uncomfortable, "So...umm...anyway...I was told to tell you that you need to start...umm...the quest that your father set before you long ago...to find the book he helped create...the book that can end The Order's tyranny."
Navari stood up and picked her book up off the floor, "And why can't they do it themselves? They're gods. Surely they can just come on down here and get the book themselves. For that matter, they're gods. Can't they just wave their hands and kill all the members of the Order? That would be much more convenient."
Avery looked offended, "They aren't allowed to meddle in the affairs of mortals! It's against their rules!"
Navari laughed, "Luka, point me to the bookcase." Navari's view of things shifted as Luka, from atop the rafters, looked over at the book case. Navari made her way over to it slowly, being careful not to bump into anything, and slid the book back into the book case, "Well then that is a problem isn't it?"
Avery screwed up her face in anger, "Ooooh! But you PROMISED YOUR FATHER!"
Navari froze. Avery had evidently struck a nerve, "That...was long ago. Before my parents were murdered...and before I was tortured and blinded. I can't keep my promise."
"You have to, Navari...that book is the only way the Order can be stopped...and only you know the way to it...don't think about this as being a mission to complete on behalf of the gods then, but think about all the innocent people who are being forced to do evil things for the Order...who are being killed by the Order...they need to be stopped, and you're the only one who can do that."
"Alone?" Navari said, contemplating things.
"No...I was given a whole list of people the gods think will be beneficial to you on this quest." She smiled, "Once I'm done here, I am supposed to go fetch them for you."
Navari thought for a moment. "What do you think, Luka?" She asked the owl. Luka ruffled his feathers before answering, I think we should do this. We've been stuck in this tower for AGES...and it is only a matter of time before The Order starts clearing out this forest for more of their cities. I think we should do it.
Navari sighed, "Fine. I will do this...but it's not for the gods. I'm doing it for us mortals. The ones the gods have seemed to forgotten."
Avery didn't argue. She was just happy she got Navari to oblige, "Tomorrow...tomorrow..." She thought about Drios the gargoyle, "Tomorrow night I will have everyone here in your tower...then you can set out." With another "pop!" Avery disappeared.
Navari heaved a heavy sigh and fell back into her chair. Luka came and perched on her shoulder once more, Come on, Vari. This will be a grand adventure! We can finally avenge your parents, and yourself.
"Yeah.." Was all Navari had to say.

Joshua listened quietly to Navari as she spoke. He had never heard of anything like this book, but it sounded extremely powerful.
"Umm... " Joshua began. "I don't know how much help I will be... But my healing skills could aid you all somewhat. If my assistance could help defeat The Order... Then I'll try my best."

Haruette soon took her seat and listened to Navari's plan before she ate. Haruette could imagine that her skills could help, but she didn't want to expose her hidden eye and its ability just yet. She continued to listen intently to Navari and consider where she could be of use. "I'm in. I'm still not so sure about this whole 'chosen by the gods' thing, but any chance to take down The Order is a good one."

"I'm sure you were chosen for a reason, Joshua." Navari said softly, "You are healer, you say? I did say this mission is going to be very hard...we will, at times, most likely be injured. We'll need your healer skills to heal any wounds that might be inflicted upon us. I hope you have your things ready? The first thing we need to do is find the nine orbs of elemental powers. They are the key to open the chamber where the book lies deep within. The nine orbs are scattered throughout the land in different places, hidden from the Order, of course. They, too, are guarded by powerful enchantments. They are: earth, water, fire, ice, air, lightning, magic, life, and death." I know roughly where they are located."

Hearing that Joshua was a healer was quite a relief, she gave a gaze to the young man and says ''Do not worry, friend... we will more then need this. A healer is always needed in time of hardship.''
Hemiola listen to Navari and wonder wich route their path would undergo first. ''Sound rather interesting and fun.'' She exclaimed with a small smirk that turned into a look of wonder. ''Although, that is a lot of location to go, where do we start ? ''

Drios said nothing, merely listened. At Navari's words he said, "I travel light, so I'm always ready. Lead the way."

Haruette quietly listened to Navari, glancing over at Joshua. So this is the one who is going to heal us when we're wounded. And here, I was thinking we would have to take care of our own wounds. Haruette couldn't help but be a little surprised by the amount of destinations the group had to travel to. Obtaining these orbs might take up to a month at best, in Haruette's opinion. Still, she was devoted to take down The Order.

Navari went to the desk and unfurled a scroll, laying it flat and setting something heavy on each corner to keep it from rolling up again. She motioned for everyone to come over, and when they did, she pointed to a map that showed all of Elthyria.
"My father wouldn't tell me exactly where the orbs were hidden in case someone captured me...and tortured me for answers. The book he didn't mind me knowing its location because it is impossible to obtain without these orbs. All he left me with was a riddle that been going over and working out ever since he told it to me, and I think I know now where the orbs are located."
She put her finger on a place titled "Mynanthas Forest", and she said "The orb of earth is here." She moved her finger to the Dwarven mountains of Helmsgate, "The orb of lightning." Again she moved her finger to a group of volcanoes, but other than that, the place was not labeled, "The orb of fire." She moved her finger to the waters between the wastelands, and Amaranth, "The orb of water is located in the ocean." Navari moved her finger to the Dark Isles, "The orb of death." She moved her finger again to wastelands, "The orb of life." The hardest one we will have to retrieve...is the orb of magic..." She slowly moved her finger to Olanthagar, and looked up at everyone, "Right in the heart of the Order. My father did this, I'm sure, because he figured if The Order ever found out about the book and the orbs, they would least likely expect that he would hide one right under their nose." She thought for a moment, "And I'm sure you are wondering why I have not shown you the locations of the ice orb and the air orb? They are not located on the map." She moved her finger further north to the edge of the map, "There is more territory up here. Icelands. My father had been there. It's unexplored. The other orb is in the skies." She looked up at them then with a grin, "My father often spoke of a citadel floating aimlessly in the skies. He said that there is a civilization there, unaffected by the Order because most people don't know it exists. They've never seen it. My father was always one to seek out legends and find if they're true. He searched for years trying to find the citadel and one day, he was lucky, and found it. He entrusted the orb to them." She smiled at her father's cleverness, "Those two orbs are not on the map on purpose....so they can be impossible to find."

Haruette stood up and leaned over the table to look at the map. She followed Navari's finger to each of the locations. In her mind, Haruette admitted the man was clever for hiding one of the orbs within The Order along with leaving two others in unexplored areas. She wanted to ask when the group was leaving and where to, but she figured that information would eventually be given out as well.

She watched Navari moving her finger on each one of the location, feeling trilled by the adventures that was awaiting them. ''Your dad was a really clever man, Navari. As for the order part... I could always try sneaking in the best I could, however it may be difficult on my own and it will need info gathering about the possible location in there. But for the others... I think I will quite enjoy myself on this adventure.... '' She said with a small smirk that would mean she love danger, but what she truly thought was ''Maybe ... i'll be able to find father again going around the world like this...''

Joshua listened to Navari's and Hemiola's encouraging words, smiling at them as he became less nervous. He also listened to the explanation of the orbs, and watched as the locations of the orbs were pointed out on the map.
"Wow..." Joshua said. "This is going to be a long journey. I have never traveled far from my village... This will be a new experience for me."

So, are you wanting to start the search at Olanthigar," Drios questioned, "or would you prefer to save that one for last seeing as the Order idiots are unaware?
"Although," he mused, "I doubt our movements will be unnoticed once we start getting orbs."

Hemiola listend to Drios and shake her head. ''I don't think it would be wise to attack the big city as a first. It would be hard to proceed then with the rest. Though like you say... I doubt too that we'll be unnoticed in our movements. We'll have to be extra carefull, the order have eyes eveywhere. We could always start by some that are within some lands taken by the order, then go to unknow lands to confuse them and come back to strike the last target at last. Although... it is all but a suggestion.''

[attn: everyone] ((OOC: I'm SO sorry I haven't posted! I just started school, so between school, homework, and work, I'm quite the busy girl! I don't have a lot of time now to plan out where I want this to go, and what I want to do next, but I do intend to keep it going. It's just going to be very slow until I get out of school again, so please be patient with me!!))
Navari listened to Hemiola and Drios, considering their suggestions. When they were finished, she spoke, "Olanthogar will be the hardest one because it is the Heart of the Order, and the less they know about our mission, the better. I propose we get the other orbs first, starting with the ones off the map. They wouldn't discover us at all that way because they have no reign in those territories...yet. Then we get the others, leaving Olanthogar's for last. We should go to the Icelands first. It'll be easier to retrieve than the Air orb. It could take months to find the floating citadel...unless you think it's wiser to do the hardest one first, and leave the easiest for last?" She looked at all of them through Luka's eyes. The owl ruffled his feathers and watched each of the members curiously, "I'm open to suggestions." She said.

"I would say I'm in agreement about Olanthigar being last," Drios said. "We know where this one is, they don't, so if they find out about us--which I'm sure they eventually will--this'll be one we don't have to race for."
He barked a laugh at Navari's ending statement. "Something tells me that even the 'easiest' one won't be all that easy. My two copper's on this is that we probably should get a feel for how they work out, from there, we may want to split up. At some point, you might even send me to scout for the air citadel. I've been researching air spells and I think I've almost got the means to craft a wind spell that would, effectively, give me flight. Of course," he added, looking at Navari, "I may need someone to work it into a pendant."

[Attn: Drios, everyone]
Navari raised an eyebrow at Drios's laugh. A spark of annoyance erupted within her, but she kept her voice low and calm, "You confuse what I say. I never said any one of the orbs would be easy to get, but there are some that are easier to retrieve than others. The ice orb is easier to retrieve than the air orb, in, as I stated before, I know where to find the Icelands. The air orb will be more difficult because we don't know exactly where the citadel is located as it could be anywhere at this moment." She sighed, and rubbed her temples. This gargoyle was going to make her mission difficult. She just had a feeling, "And I was already thinking about having you scout around for the citadel, and sending Luka with you so I can see." She stroked her owl's head, "It could take months for us to find the citadel. It floats in the sky, and could be anywhere in the world...that's what makes retrieving the air orb more difficult. We could split up, but you need me to retrieve the orb...there's a particular pattern in retrieving it from the obstacles and enchantments that protect it..."

"Woah, woah," Drios said placatingly, raising his hands. "Retract the claws, there. I wasn't making fun of you. I was just cracking wise."

~Hemiola Setilan~
(ATTN : Navari, all)
Hemiola listened to them talking and agreed with a nod when they said the order's capital shall be kept for the last part. Hearing the statement about starting with the ice one she asked ''So... if we start for this one, when do we go ? ''

Haruette quietly listened in the background as Navari and Drios conversed. She found this pattern that was needed in order to retrieve the orbs interesting. Not only did the group have to get past all the obstacles and guarding the orbs, but they had to do it in a certain manner as well. One question did pop in Haruette's mind as she thought. "Do we have any mode of transportation in order to get from place to place?" She asked.
