Legend of the Zodiac - Page 3 Empty Legend of the Zodiac

Post by Ink 5th February 2012, 4:41 pm

First topic message reminder :

Long ago, The Zodiac reigned supreme. Towering beasts whose power was unmatched. They raged on for millenia, laying waste to all that stood in their paths. No living creature went unnoticed. All was reduced to ash and ruin. This would go on for many years. Then, a beacon of hope shone over the world. A cataclysmic event swept over the land. The Zodiac fell. She who held our Earth took the weakened beasts and cast them out into the stars where they became spirits. The very power of these spirits moved the lights in the sky and gave form to the constellations we see every night, looking up into the sky. That is the legend of The 12 Zodiac Beasts.

Ages later, the rise of a new threat would bring about a new legend. This threat came in the form of The Titans. The Titans were massive creatures, embodying the very forces of nature herself. Their power was unrivaled. It was said that even the combined might of The Gods could not defeat them. However, The Gods knew that there was one hope. The Zodiac Beasts. These entities, when acting in unison, dwarfed the power of the gods. They could very well challenge that of the Titans. Using their own divine abilities, they transformed mankind into a series of conduits who could potentially draw on the power of the spirits in the constellations. They then chose the twelve most worthy individuals and granted them the power of The Zodiac.

The Zodiac challenged the Titans effective immediately. Led by the mighty Capricorn, the Titans were very much challenged. The battle raged for many days and many nights. Finally, the first of fatal injuries was made. Leo was critically wounded as was the predication of an elderly oracle woman. Now hope seemed thin. The Zodiac felt that even they could not stop the Titans. All seemed futile.

Then came the action that would define this age old war. The Gemini Twins conceived what they thought to be brilliance. Even against the wisdom of the Libra, they defied all sense. In a lapse of desperation, they took themselves to the constellation of The Gemini Zodiac Beast and absorbed the creatures spirit, growing vastly more powerful. But this was a short lived victory. The spirit of this devilish creature was too much for them to control. It overwhelmed them, corrupted them. It turned them into that which they swore to destroy. They became two beings of pure malice. With this power they could track down and destroy the Titans one by one.

Unfortunately, the Titans had grown wise when the mighty god of the underworld told them to be on the alert. They grouped together and easily defeated the twins. The remaining Zodiac Warriors then took the advice of the gods. They knew very well that they could not destroy the Titans. But they could defeat them. They led the Titans to a mountain and tricked the Titans into bringing it down on top of themselves, forming an inescapable prison around them. That was the end of the Titans...for the time being.

The Gemini Twins were imprisoned and all was set right again. However, not all will remain so. The Gemini did vow their ultimate return and they swore that they would destroy the gods for imprisoning them...and now they have escaped. They overpowered the underworld god and set an armada of underworld fiends loose in the land of the living. Now they seek the prison of the Titans...So it is only a matter of time.

Some six years ago, a young girl clings to a young boy as he stands in the doorway with a bag packed full of his belongings. "No, Faulkner! Don't go! You can't go! Mama and Papa wouldn't want this for you and neither do auntie and uncle!" The poor child cries as she tries to pull him back inside but he refuses to budge. "Please don't go," she whimpers. No such luck, however. Her brother had made up his mind. Without another word, he forcefully pulls away from her and walks off into the darkness of night. The girls he leaves standing in the door can only watch as he does so. She watched until he disappears over the hilltop. Then, she walks back inside.

Six years later, the girl is now a young woman. She stands in a new doorway now. This one, a doorway to an ancient building, a school. The doors are towering and made of stone. The double doors begin to open and she instantly sees a wave of soldiers in the front, practicing their sword exercises. Tucked to her side is what appears to be a rapier. She walks inside and is instantly stopped by two soldiers who immediately acknowledge her as a budding warrior. "Well, hello," one of them says. "So I take it you're a soldier-to-be?"

"O-oh, not exactly," the girl says.

"Oh? Then what are you? Cone on, then, what's your name?"

"My name? It's Reyna Harte."

With that, the both of them back away. Harte was a name they knew rather well. It would likely mean their end if ever they caused trouble for her. Faulkner Harte, this girl's brother, was one who put up with no nonsense. Even if he didn't particularly care for his sister, she could very easily tell him that she'd caught two soldiers goofing around. "Oh, do excuse us, miss. We mistook you for another. The ladies facility is in that direction," the other of the two soldiers says. Reyna then turns her head and approaches the female quarters rather deliberately.

Over the course of the next several days, Reyna must settle herself in and is eventually taken by one of the gods' messengers to the Zodiac Warrior training ground. Here she sat alone awaiting the arrival of the others so she might introduce herself. She knew that rumors had been circulating regarding the new student's arrival being a Capricorn and a Zodiac Warrior. Yet while she awaits the arrival of the others, she sits at the table to the far left of the room and reads over the book she'd been given upon entry.

Lucette was happy she decided to wear her whip. She takes it off her belt unfurling it. She looks over at Linnea who just joined her. "What do you mean, we must help them. We shouldn't just stand here and do nothing." She runs to the nearest bandit and strikes him with the whip. It makes a loud crack noise.

Just as Kyrios opened his mouth to eat, Lucette shot up to her feet. Apparently, some bandits were running amok in the vicinity. Kyrios' mouth was still agape when he looked up at Lucette. "And just when I was going to have breakfast, too.." He muttered as he placed his fork back on the plate. Kyrios then stood up and followed behind Lucette and Linnea. After spotting the thieves, Kyrios took out a few needles and threw them at one bandit's vital points with ease.

Reyna looks about the area in a panic as it suddenly grows more lively. Lucette was the first to rise and do anything. At this, Nel simply stares for a minute at Reyna and scoffs. "Yeah, you're the leader, all right," she says before running off. Rodrick sits and waits a moment longer but eventually stands and follows the others out without a word. Finally, Reyna stands. After sitting there for a good minute, she runs outside, quickly dashing to her room and picking up her custom made rapier.

On the grounds, she can already see where Nel has defeated a fair few bandits. Rodrick stands over various others, his hammer held in both hands. Among the many fights occurring before her, she singles out the fights between the bandits and the other Zodiacs.

Suddenly she turns, looking over her shoulder. In an instant, her blade meets the blade of a bandit. She manages then to kick him while his guard is down and runs back out into the battlefield.

Legend of the Zodiac - Page 3 Empty Re: Legend of the Zodiac

Post by Baal Xoia 8th February 2012, 12:15 am

Xoia suddenly has an idea that might help. He quickly runs from the battle, dragging a few injured along with him. He strapped the scythe to his back, then runs inside (quite glad to be away from the battle) and to a room near his. It looked like it hadn't been used in years, but from the books, he gleamed it was an alchemy lab. He opened a book, and scanned what was needed, and took them from the labled drawers. Being careful not to touch them, he used a set of nearby gloves, and mixed the ingrediants into several glass flasks, and quickly put the stoppers on. Putting them into a nearby bag with bands for them, he runs back outside to the side of the battle.

Opening the bag, he hurled the glass bottles one at a time into the back of the group of bandits., and the broke on the ground or against someone. He Yelled for everyone to get back, as a greenish yellow gas rose from the broken bottles. Then he lit a rag inside another glass bottle with a match. He threw the bottle into the gas clouds, and they instantly set flame, burning everything inside them, taking down quite a few bandits.

He was yelling for everyone to get back, when he felt a sharp pain on the back of his head. As everythign went black, he realised he had actually done something to stand up for himself for once, and for his home.

Lucette is happy when the others approach. She can tell by their expressions that this was not a training exercise. She cracks her whip again slicing a bandit’s arm making his attack useless. She sees Kyrios using his needles to take out another one.

In the distance she sees another young man hurling bottles at the group of bandits. She sees a gas pour out, and yells just as he does. The next thing she sees is a fiery cloud and smell of burnt flesh. She covers her nose with one arm and glances at the others.

Her face falls as she sees a bandit approach the young man. She runs over recklessly, but is too late as he hits the young man. She takes out her whip and takes out the bandit. She kneels next to the young man and checks his pulse. He is just unconscious. She stands over him protectively.

[ATTN: Open, Reyna]

Linnea sighed as she watch the two groups join in combat. "If that's how it goes, then," she muttered under her breath, grabbing her broom and striding out into the middle of combat.

For a few moments, it was as if she was in the middle of the eye of a storm - while combat occurred around her, no one even ventured near her. She was perfectly fine with that, and she continued striding into the battlefield.

Finally, one bandit leaped at her, his sword drawn - likely thinking her easy prey, what with her only weapon being the broom. Linnea quickly sidestepped, cracking him first across the face with the head of the broom, then spinning and driving the handle into his stomach. The bandit collapsed, winded, and she knocked him out with one blow to the back of the head. That was the thing about spear-fighting - so many people saw a spear and thought the only way to attack was with the pointy end. But the truth was, a spear was half quarterstaff and half dagger, and using only the pointed end was idiocy.

There was a small explosion, then the smell of burnt flesh, and Linnea grimaced, wrinkling her nose at the smell. She turned away from the charred corpses, instead turning to find the Capricorn engaged in combat. Linnea swings her broom, clearing a path next to their 'leader' and taking up a post near her.

Reyna takes one slash at a bandit who rather easily back-steps away. Suddenly rises high before sweeping low at his ankles, tripping him up and knocking him out by striking him with the handle of the blade. She suddenly hears the sound of steel piercing air. Turning around, she finds a spear tip less than an inch from her face. The spear as a whole had been stopped, held in place by a sash, wrapped into a whip. "If you are going to be the leader, then you are going to have to survive beyond day two," says a voice carried by a woman with an accent.

"Th-Thank you," Reyna says, rather paralyzed.

"Do not thank," the woman says after making sure the bandit she'd stopped from killing Reyna was knocked out. "Act. I am Linda. Aquarius Zodiac. Intermediate." Suddenly Reyna can smell the scent of burning flesh. Turning around, she can see as a boy's make-shift grenades detonate and carry groups of bandits with them. She then covers her nose as the fumes expands.

Post by Phirron 8th February 2012, 5:53 pm

{ATTN: All}

Phirina charges out towards the thickest band of the bandits she sees and quickly dispatches them in a whirlwind of quick motion. First she whacks a bandit in the face and follows the attack up with a quick spin jab to his sternum shattering. As he fell to ground she jerks her left arm back elbowing a bandit square in nose. She then drops to the ground and sweeps the feet of four bandits who promptly trip and start to collapse to the ground. Before they were half way down she had stood up twirled the staff around crushing their heads in.

She follows this up by charging forward in a sideways twirl knocking out several bandits. After she regains her balance she straps the staff to her back and starts punching side stepping and kicking any bandits killing them just as easily as if she had her staff out and only taking a few bruises and scratches. Within minutes she had killed nearly all of the bandits around her and those that weren’t dead were dying so she set off towards another large group of bandits and quickly dispatches them as well.

Scorpio didn't have to do much in this fight. Most of the bandits were getting their behinds kicked by the other warriors. Every so often, a bandit would run up to Scorpio with a knife in hand. Having extensive experience in hand to hand combat, the warrior easily disarmed the bandits that dared opposed him. Every movement was precise. Every strike was carefully calculated. That was Scorpio's way of fighting. By the time the makeshift bomb was thrown, a small pile of crippled, deformed bodies lied at Kyrios' feet. He almost felt sorry the men tried to fight him, but he shows no mercy, at least against an opponent outside of the academy.

[ATTN: Linda, Reyna]

Linnea swung her broom, cracking one bandit precisely across the temple as he approached. "Aquarius," she said in greeting to the other Zodiac near Capricorn. She took one step forward with her right foot, steadying her stance. Every move was considered, calculated on the spot for maximum efficiency. She jabbed the head of her broom into one man's eyes, blinding him momentarily, then swung the broom upside down to hit him over the head with the other end.

"Is there any end to these idiots?" she asked, directing her question to the Capricorn and Aquarius. "Also, I don't suppose you have an extra spear for me?" she asked Aquarius.

Xoia remained unconcious on the ground, dragged by Lucette away from any danger. Unfortunately, one of the bottles was still in his bag. It broke on the rocks a little bit away, and a cloud of gas that burned the eyes with an acrid smell started to rise beside him. He was under most of it, but it was surrounding him.

{ATTN: Lucette}

As Phirina defeats yet another group of bandits she hears an explosion of sorts and when she pots the source she sees one of the new Z-warriors, Lucette she thinks is her name, the one she had laughed at dragging an unconscious boy away from a blazing mass on burning gasses. She sighs and starts to turn away thinking it wasn’t her problem when some more of the gasses start pouring out of the boys bag.

She quickly looks around and notices that no one would be able to come to her aid but herself. So seeing this as the Gods way of telling her to make up for laughing she darts towards her ignoring everything else around her and promptly gets a blow to her left side from another quarter staff user. She yells as she feels some of her ribs crack, but she manages to push back the pain and hit the man who had attacked her square in the adams apple.

As he fell Phirina puts her staff on her back and takes the last few steps towards Lucette. She wince as she coughs from the smell of the nearby burning gasses and bodies, but she doesn’t hesitate in pulling the Virgo away from the boy saying, “Leave him his fate is now in the hands of the Gods.”

Phirina then tenses up as she feels the presence that can only mean that there was a well trained warrior near by……and they weren’t friendly. She quickly yells at Lucette to stand at her back and stay on guard as a voice is heard….

“I have been watching you young lady. You think you are soooo mighty with your staff there that none can stand against you.”

Phirina quickly looks around for the source of the voice and spots a tall man about 6’3’’ with a claymore resting on his shoulder. She gulps as she realizes that this man was either the leader or second in command of the bandits. It would be a hard battle anytime but with her ribs and having to compensate for the lack of experience that the Virgo has she wasn’t sure if they could win.

Just as she was about to tell Lucette to run for it she hears the man bark an order and they are promptly surrounded by bandits. Cursing under her breath she asked the Virgo, “Just how good are you with that whip?” She then give a nervous laugh as once again the man speaks….

Grinning the man says “Oh no you wont be making any get a ways ladies indeed you will die right here.” At this he gives a laugh of pure cruelty an malice as he stares at the ladies before him blood lust on his face.

Phirina quickly tells Virgo to worry only about the bandits surrounding them and that if she saw an opening to get away to take it and leave her behind. She would take care of the behemoth before them after all it was her he truly wanted.

{Attn: Phirina}

Lucette was almost gagging and does not even notice as she is dragged back. She wants to protest when told that the boy’s fate is in the hand of the Gods. However she does not get that chance as her and the woman are surrounded.

“I am not an expert that is for sure.” She answers as her whip drops to the ground. “But I am not going to go down easy either. I am not going to leave you either, we are in this together.” She narrows her eyes at the approaching bandits.

Lucette cracks her whip and strikes the bandit on the neck cutting his skin right at the jugular. It was a lucky shot, but she doesn’t care. She looks around the group. One down and more to go.

Kyrios finished up the last of his share of bandits when he saw a huge man and a crowd of other enemies surrounding something. There were so many that he couldn't see who was in there. Kyrios looked around to see who was missing. After a short moment, he realized that Lucette and Phirina must be the ones who were surrounded. This could be Kyrios' chance to use his stealth skills. He discreetly dipped a few of his last remaining needles in poison and sneaked up behind the huge man with the claymore.

"Oh wait, never mind," Linnea said, sidestepping a bandit and jabbing the end of her broom into his face. "I found one." The bandit fell to the ground, and Linnea grabbed his spear, spinning it to test it. Shoddy quality, but it was better than a broom.

Linnea glanced around them. "Where did the Virgo... oh," she said, looking over at a mass of bandits that seemed to be surrounding something. "Probably there. Either way, someone needs bailing out."

Linnea rushed forward, swinging the spear upwards and cutting one bandit across the back. He turned around, only to get a spear to the eye, and fell down. A few of the clump of bandits turned to her, and Linnea stared at them. Three in total took their attention from their prey, the first one stepping forward with a short sword, the other two armed with an axe and a mace, respectively.

Swordsman attacks first, she thought, and the man took a step forward. Sidestep, shot to stomach, turn and block blow from axe. kick axeman, take out, step, take out mace-wielder. Finish swordsman.

The swordsman lunged, stabbing with his sword, and Linnea stepped to the side, swinging her spear into his gut. He fell, winded, and Linnea brought her spear up, locking it underneath the head of the axe as it came swinging down. Linnea kneed the axeman between the legs, and he collapsed, as a swift blow with the back of her spear knocked him unconscious. In another instant, she had lunged at the mace-wielder, but her calculations were off - rather than staying there, the man had already lunged, and the mace swung down at her shoulder. She tried to bat the blow away, but the mace struck the side of her shoulder, skidding down her arm. Linnea let out a hiss of pain, smashing the mace-wielder in the face with the back of her spear. She had lost time - the swordsman was starting to stand, and so Linnea turned to him, stabbing him with her spear as he started to turn. The man gasped, collapsing, and Linnea pulled her spear back, nearly crying out with pain. Her shoulder might be broken, she couldn't tell.

She could see the Virgo in the gap between the bodies. "Virgo!" she called. "Get out of the middle! A little help, people?" she asked, as suddenly more bandits turned to look at her.

Lucette is swinging her whip cracking it against the bandits. She pitied those that were not wearing any protection, as the whip sliced right through to the skin. She sees that a small number of bandits were distracted, thank the gods. However she had no time to see who their new target was. Out of the corner of her eye she sees a bandit charging with her sword towards the other lady in the middle with her. Lucette takes her whip and wraps it around the sword then pulls. The would-be attacker falls on her face. It would be comical if the situation was different.

Lucette hears a voice yelling at her. “Easier said than done, Linnea. I am not the only one here. Thanks for the help.”

Phirina locks eyes with the man wielding a claymore and they start circling each other as best they could in the mass of bandits surrounding them. She winces as he feints an attack on her right and she twist to left to dodge the blow causing her to move her cracked ribs.

Seeing the opening the man swings the claymore towards her cracked ribs and Phirina just barely is able to block the attack. She follows up with a quick upper cut to the base of his jaw which would normally ended the fight but because of her injury she couldn’t do much more than bruising him. But being as seasoned as she was she knew better to count on that attack to end the fight. She quickly dropped to the ground using the momentum of her falling body to swing the other end of the staff square between his legs as hard has she could ignoring “proper” fighting protocol.

On impact the man’s eyes crossed and started watering up as he sank towards the ground. All this went according to plan excepted that when she land the crack in her ribs widened and she let out blood curdling scream. She then started to violently coughing up blood and loses her grip on her staff unable to fight anymore.

While this is going on the man was able to regain enough composer to draw out a dagger and start slowly crawling towards Phirina. Intent on killing her now furious from the “cheap shot” he had received as much as the death of those under his command from her fighting alone.

[Attn: Bandit, Phiria]

Suddenly the bandit engaged in combat with Phiria is lifted from the ground, his hand crushed around the dagger. There stands Rodrick, the Zodiac Taurus, having swiped aside many of the surrounding bandits with the blow of his mighty hammer. He then delivers one force palm to his throat, a quick jab to his pelvis, and a final uppercut to the jaw, throwing him back down, planting his foot on the bandit as the cretin lands on his back. "You would do well to stay down, friend."

Before the cretin can think to try and move, another hammer is brought to his face, only an inch away. This one is held by a young girl with long, red hair. She holds the hammer just above him and the other hand on her hip. "If you don't, you're head's going to look like a work of art."

Xoia was laying on the ground, unconcious. During the fighting, one of the bandits grabbed his body and his pack, and slung them over his shoulder.

Suddenly, out of the grassland, three times the amount of bandits rose from the landscape around the school. They looked ready to charge foward, but a horn blast sounded three times, and they all started yelling retreat.

The faces of the soldiers on the battlefield were grim, and the groans of the injured and dying were miserable. In the terrible aftermath of the battle, it was easy to forget one lone servant boy kidnapped by the fleeing enemy hoard.

Kyrios was about ready to strike the giant from behind when two other warriors stepped in. They made quick work of the bandit even though Kyrios had everything planned out. He stood idly looking down at the bandit's face. "Well...I suppose that's less work for me." He had heard Linnea cry out in agony, so he decided to use his poisoned needles in a different fashion. He held them in each hand as if they were claws. Kyrios then dashed up to the crowd of bandits around Linnea and fought his way to her, slashing at the bandits' bodies and using his weapons to pull them aside.

Once Kyrios made it to Linnea, he assumed a defensive stance with his spiked fists up to his chest. "Curl up as tight as you can and don't move." He said to her. Shortly afterwards, the onslaught of bandits began. Kyrios ducked and weaved as fluidly as ever, taking every chance to counterattack with his poison tipped needles. He pushed himself as far as he could go to defend his comrade.

Legend of the Zodiac - Page 3 Empty Re: Legend of the Zodiac

[Attn: Open]

Reyna looked over the aftermath. She hadn't been badly hurt. There were minor bruises here and there. She'd managed to avoid being struck. The dead and dying all around were little more than sickening to her. She had seen this carnage once before, only a thousand times worse. The town she'd lived in had suffered this regularly, monthly in fact. Monsters set loose by the Gemini Twins' hatred and malice would raid the town monthly and destroy anything in their way. No one knew why and no one knew what always drew them back. The only thing that anyone knew was to be on high ground when it came.

Linda knelt beside Phiria and began tending to her wounds. "Here, now don't move. It's gonna hurt like no tomorrow if ya do. Hold still just a bit longer," she says. She proceeds to wipe away the blood from her face before tending to the wound itself. "There. Hey, Rodrick, get her to the infirmary would you? She'll be all right but they can do more than I can on short notice."

"Very well," Rodrick says, carefully lifting Phiria and carrying her to the infirmary.

Reyna looks over her shoulder, having heard footsteps from behind. There stood the Leo, her arms crossed. "Some leader you are," she says.

"Excuse me? I-"

"I'D have made a better leader than THAT. You didn't do anything but run around with your tail between your legs."

Reyna looks around to find that many soldiers are carrying others to the infirmaries throughout the school. Looking back, she finds Nel to already be on her way. Reyna watches her leave then looks down and walks away herself."
