Legend of the Zodiac - Page 4 Empty Legend of the Zodiac

Post by Ink 5th February 2012, 4:41 pm

First topic message reminder :

Long ago, The Zodiac reigned supreme. Towering beasts whose power was unmatched. They raged on for millenia, laying waste to all that stood in their paths. No living creature went unnoticed. All was reduced to ash and ruin. This would go on for many years. Then, a beacon of hope shone over the world. A cataclysmic event swept over the land. The Zodiac fell. She who held our Earth took the weakened beasts and cast them out into the stars where they became spirits. The very power of these spirits moved the lights in the sky and gave form to the constellations we see every night, looking up into the sky. That is the legend of The 12 Zodiac Beasts.

Ages later, the rise of a new threat would bring about a new legend. This threat came in the form of The Titans. The Titans were massive creatures, embodying the very forces of nature herself. Their power was unrivaled. It was said that even the combined might of The Gods could not defeat them. However, The Gods knew that there was one hope. The Zodiac Beasts. These entities, when acting in unison, dwarfed the power of the gods. They could very well challenge that of the Titans. Using their own divine abilities, they transformed mankind into a series of conduits who could potentially draw on the power of the spirits in the constellations. They then chose the twelve most worthy individuals and granted them the power of The Zodiac.

The Zodiac challenged the Titans effective immediately. Led by the mighty Capricorn, the Titans were very much challenged. The battle raged for many days and many nights. Finally, the first of fatal injuries was made. Leo was critically wounded as was the predication of an elderly oracle woman. Now hope seemed thin. The Zodiac felt that even they could not stop the Titans. All seemed futile.

Then came the action that would define this age old war. The Gemini Twins conceived what they thought to be brilliance. Even against the wisdom of the Libra, they defied all sense. In a lapse of desperation, they took themselves to the constellation of The Gemini Zodiac Beast and absorbed the creatures spirit, growing vastly more powerful. But this was a short lived victory. The spirit of this devilish creature was too much for them to control. It overwhelmed them, corrupted them. It turned them into that which they swore to destroy. They became two beings of pure malice. With this power they could track down and destroy the Titans one by one.

Unfortunately, the Titans had grown wise when the mighty god of the underworld told them to be on the alert. They grouped together and easily defeated the twins. The remaining Zodiac Warriors then took the advice of the gods. They knew very well that they could not destroy the Titans. But they could defeat them. They led the Titans to a mountain and tricked the Titans into bringing it down on top of themselves, forming an inescapable prison around them. That was the end of the Titans...for the time being.

The Gemini Twins were imprisoned and all was set right again. However, not all will remain so. The Gemini did vow their ultimate return and they swore that they would destroy the gods for imprisoning them...and now they have escaped. They overpowered the underworld god and set an armada of underworld fiends loose in the land of the living. Now they seek the prison of the Titans...So it is only a matter of time.

Some six years ago, a young girl clings to a young boy as he stands in the doorway with a bag packed full of his belongings. "No, Faulkner! Don't go! You can't go! Mama and Papa wouldn't want this for you and neither do auntie and uncle!" The poor child cries as she tries to pull him back inside but he refuses to budge. "Please don't go," she whimpers. No such luck, however. Her brother had made up his mind. Without another word, he forcefully pulls away from her and walks off into the darkness of night. The girls he leaves standing in the door can only watch as he does so. She watched until he disappears over the hilltop. Then, she walks back inside.

Six years later, the girl is now a young woman. She stands in a new doorway now. This one, a doorway to an ancient building, a school. The doors are towering and made of stone. The double doors begin to open and she instantly sees a wave of soldiers in the front, practicing their sword exercises. Tucked to her side is what appears to be a rapier. She walks inside and is instantly stopped by two soldiers who immediately acknowledge her as a budding warrior. "Well, hello," one of them says. "So I take it you're a soldier-to-be?"

"O-oh, not exactly," the girl says.

"Oh? Then what are you? Cone on, then, what's your name?"

"My name? It's Reyna Harte."

With that, the both of them back away. Harte was a name they knew rather well. It would likely mean their end if ever they caused trouble for her. Faulkner Harte, this girl's brother, was one who put up with no nonsense. Even if he didn't particularly care for his sister, she could very easily tell him that she'd caught two soldiers goofing around. "Oh, do excuse us, miss. We mistook you for another. The ladies facility is in that direction," the other of the two soldiers says. Reyna then turns her head and approaches the female quarters rather deliberately.

Over the course of the next several days, Reyna must settle herself in and is eventually taken by one of the gods' messengers to the Zodiac Warrior training ground. Here she sat alone awaiting the arrival of the others so she might introduce herself. She knew that rumors had been circulating regarding the new student's arrival being a Capricorn and a Zodiac Warrior. Yet while she awaits the arrival of the others, she sits at the table to the far left of the room and reads over the book she'd been given upon entry.

[Attn: Linnea, Lucette, All]

Even though Lucette said she was fine, Kyrios knew she would be a goner on her own. He was just about ready to collapse from exhaustion when the bandits retreated. Kyrios fell to his knees with his needles dropped onto the ground. He couldn't believe the guys were leaving at a time like this. Kyrios looked back to see of Linnea was okay. She was already getting healed and would be taken to the infirmary.

Kyrios himself wasn't wounded badly, but his body would need plenty of rest. He turned to Lucette, gasping for air. "What kid...are you talking about?" Kyrios had paid such little attention to that kid that he didn't even notice the boy's disappearance. He scanned the area around him, taking in the scenery of the wounded and dead.

Lucette shakes her head. "The kid...The one that had the bottles with the gasses. I left him here, but now he is gone. They must have taken him, but why? Why go through all that trouble for him?"

She runs her fingers through her hair looking down for clues for which way they could have taking him.

Linnea stepped back, watching the fleeing bandits with pursed lips. They had been winning, there had been more than enough to overwhelm them, there had to be some reason for their defeat. They wouldn't have just backed off without a reason.

She pulled her hand away from her shoulder to see that it was stained red. "Ay," she cursed, wiping her hand on her pants, trying to be nonchalant. It was too late though - several other soldiers had seen her, and were rushing to drag the Zodiac Warrior to the healer and the infirmary.

"Stop this, it's not that bad," she said, trying to pull herself free. "I doubt it's even broken." But of course no one listened, and Linnea finally stopped caring, only looking behind her to see the Virgo distressed about something or other.

The very next morning, Reyna returns to the Dining Hall and takes her seat at the table of the Zodiac Warriors. It was smaller than she remembered. Then again, not as much space had been taken up the day before. Now she was among one of the last to arrive. Nel, the young Leo, had given her a rather unwelcoming glance for a brief moment. Rodrick sat there, his arms crossed and eyes closed. His plate was empty yet still he sat there. Linda say at the farthest end, eating with the utmost etiquette. She hadn't paid much mind to Reyna since the day before. And now there sat the Pisces and the Aries who she'd not yet fully met. However, the Aries gave her a similar unwelcoming look and the Pisces, only a look of sheer worry.

Sitting at the table across from them was her brother who sat now alone, no one on either side of him. He'd been minor injured the other day. Presumably he now had a scar run down most all of his left arm. For the most part the recoveries had gone well. By grace of the gods, only two students had perished, after the initial battle. The rest had all fallen during the fray. The school's numbers were still great.

Reyna soon snaps out of it when she hears a new voice the interrupts her train of thought. "It's Belle," says the Aries. "Belle Stone...the Aries Zodiac." She had a rather smug look about her. She seemed to be mocking Reyna subtly. "That was quite the fight you put up yesterday."

"Yeah, I didn't expect her to actually be alive at the end of it," Nel says.

The two of them stop, only when Taurus opens his eyes. He then stands and turns to leave before a bell is sounded within the room. Those that were there turned to the center of the room to find Promethus there. Those that weren't would soon be arriving at the Dining Hall to hear his announcement.

Linnea finally made it out of the infirmary the next morning, her upper arm wrapped in bandages and her shoulder tightly wrapped to keep her from moving it. It was broken, much to her dismay, but the fracture was small, not nearly as bad as it could have been. Still, they had put her arm in a sling as well, to make sure she didn't move her arm around too much, and so she was forced to try and move around with her off hand.

She arrived at the dining hall late, thanks to her delay, and made her way over to the Zodiac table. She had only just arrived when she heard the bell sound in the center of the room, and she stopped behind the Aries and turned to see Promethus standing in the center.

Linnea tapped her foot patiently. "What is it now," she muttered under her breath.

Lucette was dragged away after she did a search. That poor kid, but they were right she was here for a higher purpose. The rest of the day was a blur to her. She wakes up after a restless night sleep.

She goes through her usual morning routine and finds herself at the dining hall again. She grabs her plate and sits down quietly. She barely hears what the others are saying to Reyna. She was about to say something when the bell rings.

After the sudden battle, Kyrios spent the rest of the day resting. Even though he slept until the next day, his body was still somewhat exhausted. The Scorpio dragged his feet to the Zodiac table, loosely gripping a lunch tray in his hands. His eyes were half open and his hair was completely messy. As soon as Kyrios sat down, all he wanted to do was drop his head onto the table. He didn't even pay attention to the conflict going on right in front of him. When the bell sounded, Kyrios grimaced. The loud ringing drilled into his ears. He slowly turned to face Promethus, resting his head on one of his hands.

Post by Phirron 12th February 2012, 4:30 pm

{ATTN: Open}

Phirina wakes up in the infirmary late the next morning after the fight to find out she has a couple broken ribs which had been set into place with the pressure of tightly wrapped bandages. She forces herself to first sit up then to stand not caring that she was half naked; anything a guy would like to see was covered in bandages anyways.

She stiffly walks over to where her shirt lay just to find out she can’t bend to pick it up and she started to laugh softly at the case she was in. She learns quickly that she shouldn’t laugh either.
At the laughter one of the nurses who was tending to someone with a more serious wounds looks up with a start, “Miss Phirina what are you doing out of bed you could puncture a lung if you move around to much.”

“I’m trying to get dressed can’t you tell,” Phirina points down at her blood stained shirt, “Would you mind handing my shirt to me.”

The nurse rushes over and tries to usher her back to her bed, but Phirina resisted her. Seeing that to continue trying to get Phirina into the bed would make it where she would be responsible for causing her lung to be pierced she bends down and picks up Phirina’s shirt gingerly. She then tosses it to Phirina and storms off to take care of the person she had previously been tending too.

Phirina barely manages to catch the shirt as the nurse storms off in a huff. She knew she should listen to the nurse but just didn’t have the patience to wait in a bed til it was safe to move around. So she just puts on her shirt sighing as dried blood flaked off of it, she would change it after breakfast.
After she got the shirt on she decided to try to sit down to put on her shoes but wound up just leaving them in the infirmary. She grabbed her staff from the weapons rack at the door to the infirmary as she left.

About ten minutes later she walks into the mess hall bare footed, out of breath, with a blood caked shirt on leaning on her staff just as she hears a bell being rung. From there she makes it to an empty table and waits for the announcement ignoring the food on the table as she wasn’t hungry in the slightest.

Promethus then begins to speak out. The tall, elderly man has the strongest, most humble air about him. His infinite wisdom shining through as he begins to address the situation to take place the other day. "Come the first sun this past morning, this establishment was brought under attack. Students and Trainers fought valiantly. In the end, few lives were lost and this enemy was defeated. For that we may thank the gods. We know not what the motivation behind this attack was but we most certainly will. Know that now we have seen, first hand, for what we are prepared and will hopefully use this experience to learn and grow...now...for the time being, please finish your meals and be on your way to your respective training."

When Promethus steps out of the Hall at last, Reyna looks up from her tray. "Where do I-"

"You go to the same place as us," Linda says. "Promethus and the other senior trainers are the ones who see to the Zodiac Training. The largest chamber on the campus is where we're headed."

Reyna then looks back down at her food and rather quickly finished what remains, standing and walking off to get on her way.

Lucette listens to Promethus intently. She could not feel bad about the ones who lost their lives. He tells them to finish up eating. Lucette looks down at her plate, her appetite is lost. She forces herself to finish up the food.

She too wonders about training when Reyna speaks up. Lucette looks around the table at her fellow Zodiac’s, some she hasn’t met personally yet. She hopes she doesn’t let them down. She tries to meet the other’s eyes with a smile on her face.

Xoia was still unconcious, when something started to seem.... off.

He hadn't been dreaming, but all of a sudden, he was standing in a starlit field. He felt a presence, protecting and shielding all around him. Looking up at the stars, he could make out a shape, and he seemed to draw strength from it.. Looking down at his hands, they were glowing faintly, and he felt somehow...... different. More shure of himself, maby. But more than that, he felt like he could move past his childhood, and become more.

Kyrios halfheartedly listened to Promethus' announcement. All he got out of it was that it was a good thing a few people died and the Zodiac Warriors were to go to their special training room after the meal. The Scorpio turned back around and proceeded to finish the food before him. He could see that Lucette was trying to bring out a smile, but he just kept his head down and ate. When he finished, he slowly stood up and began his walk to the Zodiac training room. "If anybody needs me, you know where to find me." He said with an unusual lethargy. Kyrios certainly didn't feel like he was up for intense training, but he couldn't sit around all day and do nothing.

Kyrios turned his head back just enough so he could see with one eye who was calling him. He threw up a faint shrug and continued walking. "Sure. Just don't walk too fast. I'm still exhausted." He then strolled off to the destined room, barely paying attention to the students that were walking opposite to his direction.

Xoia slowly awoke, a splitting headache causing pain with every breath. He was in a dark room that looked like it was made entirely of a single giant piece of stone, with no door, or even any cracks. It was damp, and he could hear water steadily dropping.

He tried to stand, but felt dizzy, and fell back, laying down again. He tried speaking, and in a hoarse voice said "Hello?" His voice reverberated around the room, and only hurt his head even more. After a little while hearing no responce, he looks around. Next to him are the scyth and bag he had, but nothing else in the room.

Linnea scowled. As much as she did enjoy training, she doubted it would be much fun with her arm in a sling. She at her food quickly, dumping the leftovers and standing up, moving towards the Zodiac training area. She ignored the others, trailing behind the Scorpio and the Virgo, as they all continued to the training area.

Reyna stops at the entrance to the training room and looks around. It's a rather large room that is dominantly vacant. There was, on the ceiling, a mural. It appeared to be a painting of each of the original zodiac beasts. There, in the center, was the world itself. The section belonging to the Gemini beast had been burned away, however. Reyna finds herself paying more attention to the mural than the room, entering a trance as she stares up, particularly at the empty Gemini space.

She is only brought out of this state when the Leo shoves her out of the way to get into the room. Soon the remaining Zodiacs Warriors follow and she stands among them in a line as Promethus walks into the room, merely following the lead of the Taurus who appears to know, better than any of them, what he's doing. Still one can see that she looks rather awkward. At this the Leo rolls her eyes. "All right...today those of you that are Intermediates will merely go about your business, practicing in maintaining your abilities for longer period of time. Try to keep them active for longer than the current record of an two hours shared by Rodrick and Nel. The Advanced ones will take the obstacle courses. The Novices will hone their weapon talents. I would like to have a word with The Beginners before I tell them where they are to go."

Lucette walks beside Kyrios, “Don’t worry, I know how you feel.” The truth is she is a little afraid of the training. She is not used to using her whip to fight off enemies.

She enters the training room and looks around. The mural on the ceiling catches her eye. She studies the mural closely, only disturbed when hearing Promethus’ voice. She listens as he gives the assignments to the others, taking a step forward when he mentions he wants to speak to the beginners. She is worried about what he is going to say.

Xoia awoke again. He didn't remeber falling asleep again, so he must have blacked out earlier. Laying on the other side of the cave, there was a small plate of food and a pitcher of water. He almost couldn't stomach the thought of the food, but he eagerly drank the water up. After a few minutes, it seemed to help his headache, and he tried a bit of the food, not realising how hungry he actually was, and he ate the whole plate of food.

Wondering about where he was, and how he got in here, he started examining the wall near where the plate of food had been placed. Running his fingers along the wall, he felt a thin but deep crack on the wall. Following it with his finger, he felt it arc above the ground, and come back down a few feet away on the other side. Suddenly he realised that it was a door, and there was no way out from the inside!

Once Promethus had given his message Phirina slowly got up and started making her way to her dorm room at a slow pace using her quarter staff to support herself. It took her about 20 minutes to make it to her dorm room where she painfully took off her clothes. Soon she had a set of tanned hide tunic and leggings on, but the pain of doing this caused her to tear up a little.

Unable to move after getting dressed she sat on her bed for several minutes until she was able to stop crying and compose herself. Once composed she heads off to the infirmary to meet with medical trainer for a lesson having to forgo her training until the ribs were healed.

Kyrios nodded to Lucette after her comment. It was good that someone understood him. When Promethus gave out the orders, Kyrios tried his best to hide his displeasure. He kept a solid serious face when he walked over to the obstacle courses. It would be more challenging than usual today. Kyrios would much rather work on maintaining his abilities instead of tiring himself out further. He looked back to see if anyone would want to begin first.

Reyna steps up to Promethus, merely glancing toward Lucette once through the corner of her eye. She then focuses on the elderly man. "The two of you are the newest additions to this force. You will begin with basic training. So first, I would like to see how you fair in combat. He then takes them into another room, leaving the remaining Zodiac to be policed by the other instructors.

Nel watches as they leave then approaches one of the obstacle courses. After a deep breath and taking a moment to clear her mind, she jumps onto the floor where she quickly slides below a spray of needles before springing up and over a short pillar that instantly erupts up from the floor. Jumping and spinning in mid air, she manages to weave through two swords protruding from two close walls then jumps and lands on the tip of another as if it were a small platform and continues to jump the protruding blades in this manner until she reaches the end and move on to the next course.

Meanwhile, Promethus turns to face Lucette and Reyna. "All right," he begins. "Give me nothing but your best." He stands there with his hands behind his back and waits for the two girls to attack him.

Linnea arrived at the training grounds and listened to Promethus' orders. Good. Any attempt at weapons training today would have been a nightmare, anyway - she was perfectly content with training her ability.

Linnea sat down on the floor, crossing her legs and cradling her arm. She closed her eyes, concentrating - as the Libra, she had the ability to lock into her mind's full potential, an ability that she relished. It always felt so good, being able to look around and fully understand what she saw.

As she opened her eyes, she felt almost like a spark went off in her mind, and there it was - epiphany. Well, a form of it, at least, calling it 'epiphany' did sound pompous, after all. She looked around the training room, watching the advanced Zodiac leaping through the obstacle course, analyzing their every movement, even to the point that she was able to fully predict what would happen.

Reyne merely glances at Lucette through the corner of her eye then draws her rapier and clears her mind before suddenly charging forward. With her blade in hand, she fought as if dancing. Elegant and free was one thing...but success was another. Promethus claps his hands around the flat sides of the blade and chuckles. "Wha-?"

"Good. I can see you've trained yourself to a style all your own. However even so your form is very...very weak. Do you see how easily it might be for me to do something like..." He then pushes the blade aside and force palms directly toward her chest though never touches her. "From that alone...three ribs cracked. You need to put more strength into your stances but the illusive dance styles in your fighting will get you far. Also try to put more power into your blade. All right, and now you," he says, looking to the Virgo.
